Disclaimer
Chameleon OS is currently in beta. While it runs very well, there may be things that are not completely functional. The development team is not responsible for any damage to your device or your information.
Instructions - YOU MUST READ THIS!
Check your device whether it is a GALAXY S 4G OR NOT...
Check your device's ROM IS MTD ROM OR NOT (IF NOT, please FLASH CM7 or CM9 or bla bla bla MTD ROMS)...
Backup (Titanium or Nandroid)
Boot into CWM or TWRP
Wipe everything for sure
Flash the package
Reboot.
Let it sit for 10 mins or so (and maybe a reboot after for better feeling)
Enjoy.

Dao have you tried to disable hardware overlays(dev options) to see if it helps with the graphics glitches. It's often an easy temp fix for rendering issues until the real source can be found. As far as the lockscreen not showing up is it shut off by default somewhere in settings? I haven't flashed this yet but I've used it on other phones and I have to say it's a very clean OS. I'll have some free time later so I'll see if I can get some logs to you. Nice work on this.

I think I screwed my box tho cause I had the exactly no lockscreen plus home key screwed on bot ChaOS and Xylon just after I deleted the XYlon source by hand in order to build ChaOS cause not enough space, so regret not listening to my mate tho lol. I will try my best to fix my local source back into normal state haha.

I never really liked lock screens anyway. Much rather just go to my home screen with a button press. Maybe I will flash this now. lol

You can't ask for this kind of treatment if you refuse to properly credit everyone who you took fixes from in your device and kernel trees.
I downloaded this in the seconds it was uploaded so im thinking bad dl but it flashed fine. When i booted it just goes continually on the chameleonos logo. Has anyone gotten to homescreen?

i didn't see anything in the OP, but is DTapps baked in?
Well gee, since every other post so far should be in the OTHER thread, I figured i might actually post something relevant to the developer section thread instead of the general discussion thread.
Just a quick test so far..
Torch doesn't work. Toggles on and off, but doesn't change.
Volumes (option in control panel) force closes every time i press it. (can change volumes using rocker switch still)
GPS always says it's disabled, even when turned on.
Other then that, everything else seems to be running as expected
And with the AOKP clock and unicorn porn live wallpaper... What else do you really need working?
Can't test more right now, I actually do need GPS this evening... Happens like once a month.
Because I'm sure Mazda doesn't want us to clutter his thread with our useless BS and no one has posted the link yet.

Yeah RIGHT NOW I believe all JB roms (on the OG) have that issue with video playback....could you upload a logcat and let me take a look at it? I know jmz took a hack at it and tried to fix it the other day BUT said it was working.

If you have an issue and you want to call our attention, here's what you do:
1. Try everything you can, find solutions for yourself. Wipe caches, revert all your settings you have made, go back to your stock Kernel, factory reset if you have to or reflash the rom. Assume that the issue is on your side and try your best to isolate it.
2. Search this thread and JMZtaylor's thread aswell (its the base ROM) for possible reoccurences of your issue and hopefully solutions that may have come up.
3. If you think the issue is important enough that we should cease our work and look into it, post your issue, BUT
... stay friendly, do not demand anything, do not threaten
... explain your issue as precise as you can, name the exact apps and conditions that cause trouble, help us to replicate the issue right away. If we can't there's no way we can fix it and your post will simply clutter the thread
... collect evidence, keep in mind this is a developer thread so even if you are not one, do us the favor and research how to record logcat. logcat is the single most important help you can give us to resolve your issue.

- Paranoid got its own dir in /system/etc/paranoid - pad.prop is not properties.conf
- A clean backup properties file is shipped, you can make a full reset in the panel in case you lost it with all the settings you made (very useful for those new to Paranoidandroid)
- Force option can be activated in the panel, good for widget scaling
- The DPI sliders in the panel read min/max props from properties.conf, define them as you wish
- TabletUI Recents are back to a bigger size, this is temporary, I'll try to find a way to port the phone implementation as project butter/Google skipped the TabletUI code
- CM fixed alot of features again, they're included!
- Added a few tweaks for performance and battery life

- Updated CM10 base to keep up with new CM fixes, features or whatever
- New option in Paranoid Settings called "large". This tricks an app into thinking you have a large screen.......might be helpful in some cases, might be useless in other cases...hahaha
- Option to toggle Screenshot in power options and On-Screen buttons
- Removed ADB notify icon from statusbar and updated GAPPS
- Total Hybrid engine revamp, alot less clutter, many bugfixes, apps wont make jumps when you load them up because their actual size is calculated by the engine
- The algorithm to extract the actual layout containers from apk files works more precise and can reveal more than before. There will still be a few apps left that will do that layout stuff in java, an override button will be added in future releases for that. In the meantime you can edit /system/etc/paranoid/properties.conf with your favorite file manager text editor for the following....
360 for phone-like UI
600 for phablet
720 = tablet
1280 = super huge tablet

I am not responsible for any issue flashing roms may cause for your phone. By flashing this rom, you are accepting any and all risks you may be taking in doing so! Team D.I.R.T and I will be updating this port as things are added, removed or changed. Any suggestions are appreciated, but not guaranteed to make the cut.

Question : Can I flash another kernel with this ROM?
ANSWER : At this moment you can't! If you try to flash another kernel i.e Mason Kernel, it will break your WiFi.
Question : When is the next version going to be released?
ANSWER : In the next 5 minutes or maybe in the next 5-6 months....Don't ask for ETAs!! The next version will be released when is ready to be released.
Question : I'm stuck at the splash screen, what can I do?
ANSWER : Don't FREAK OUT and pull your battery! Go into your recovery and make sure you've wiped EVERYTHING except your sdcard and flash the ROM zip again. Before rebooting make sure you unplug your phone until you've booted up.
Question : When I was on ROM A or ROM B, this one thing was working like this BUT is no longer working like that....what can I do?
ANSWER : First thing you need to remember is that every ROM is different. Don't expect to have the same features from MIUI on a Sense ROM or something from a GB ROM working on a JB ROM. Also remember that this is a WIP (work in progress) ROM and certain things will not work like they do on a Sense 1.0 ROM.
Question : Why are people so mean to me?
ANSWER : Because this is the internet my friend! Chances are the reason people are being mean to you is because you either asked something that's been answered 800 times already or that's already answered in the OP! If it becomes an issue, hit that triangle and let a moderator handle it

yes it has always had touch scrolling tho i still find myself using haptic or volume rocker unless its something quick

Ok thanks. Yea i always used the buttons at bottom bottom but the response to touch i never knew it had it.
This is the the best jellybean Rom I've ever flashed IMO

I only asked because I'm running jmz's 7/21 build of cm10 and video playback works fine. Maybe it's just an anomaly as on his more recent builds, video playback does not work

For another it runs on my phone. I had problems with the other, don't think it & my phone got along, even this morning I flashed the latest, no go. But this is running great, also I'm impatient, at work so no wifi, obviously not recommending this but I dl all over 3g. Anyway, thank you, love the black look. Nice.

I can't get lockscreen wallpaper to stick. Fill color works, but selecting a wallpaper does not show.

Yes it does & works great.
EDIT - Props to the dev here. Been running this since it came out (even dl'd over 3g, impatient) and it has been running great. Wallpaper on lock screen doesn't work, couple of glitches here & there, but all jb is that way. I couldn't run the other black bean rom, I tried several times, but this is definitely a keeper. Thanks muchly Swiper, great job.

Hey swiperrat when i try to use adb remount on my labtop it wont let me do it keep saying remount failed: operation not permitted .

A status 7 error usually means,your recovery is out dated and needs to be updated,but its usually not that at all,its more than likely a bad download,check the MD5 sum.In other words its trying to say your rom isnt compatible with the recovery.

I've downloaded from the computer now twice. MD5's match. I am going to search for the latest smelkus recovery... this is getting extremely frustrating!

apparently, at some point I did a custom MTD partition. I did so much flashing on this evo when it was my daily phone, that i completely forgot, untill i was looking on my sd card and saw the zips for the custom mtd recovery and custom recovery boot. I thought I had zero'd out the custom MTD.txt file so that it restored to the stock partitions.
i appologize for being a flashaholic.
I reinstalled smelkus 4.3 just to be safe. was just about to redownload the rom again, figured i'd give it a shot to install one last time and BAMMMMMMM
just got through my initial boot, going to sign in and reboot to flash the inverted gapps.
i've face palmed myself a few times by now. thanks for the help guys

Just few quick questions, I don't remember cuz I'm also a flashaholic, which rom it was but on the lock screen I had a link for the Google Now. Is that an option on this?
Second, its just me but can you also at some point include the mod for changing carrier name? I tried the ccn app but it didn't stick.

Ok, installed the ROM (full wipe and couple of reboots) and it's missing some things, gmail, play...etc!!
Edit 1: I see now a zip in 1st post "LIQUID JB GAPPS PACK", I'll check it out!
Edit 2: What do you know, flashing the zip was the solution! looking good.
I see some interesting tweaks in settings....more feedback later

md5 is incorrect its for another file please disregard apologies.
been downloading this for 10 mins and still only got 11mb done???saying one hour left,now at 23:45 and still saying 23 minutes left,anyone else getting these download times

It's false (as Uber said) and not an elegant way to advertise.
Video error bug
I'm getting a "this video is not authorized for playback on this device", message on certain websites like espn. I swapped out the browser apk with a generic one and still got the same message. Also setting the wifi signal bar color does nothing and adding the kill all apps button doesn't add a button on either regular or tablet mode. I couldn't find a setting to get rid of the Google search bar or a setting to remove the menu button from showing on the home screens so I am using nova launcher for now. Other than that everything is very quick and smooth, browser works better on this rom, I've yet to have it pause while opening websites like I've had on other roms. I like the fact user agent was made available without having to use the about:debug method to access it.

I'm connected to a netgear wn2000rpt extender, I get a100% signal up to 200 feet with this rom.
Got the same thing with these numbers, not sure if they are replacing text!?..... not a biggy

Is anyone having a problems with Google contacts syncing? Everything else synced ok

Hello, I have just finished setting up everything on this rom [ROM][4.2.2] Chameleon OS [OFFICIAL][&Nightlies],
It is very responsive, snappy, and has beautiful colors! You can tell there is allot of effort put into this bad boy. Also love the wallpapers included!
I have no problems running this on Moretz 2.2.2 Kernel.
GPS, DATA, 4G/LTE, WIFI everything is running stable...
This is beyond good for a beta!! :good::good::good::good:
Is voip (like viber , vonage , gtalk audio / video calls) working on this rom?

Been up and running for a couple hours now and I'm loving it so far. The only hitch I have is that the launcher FC's when you change DPI. I'm using nova with no issues though. All in all I'll be on this for a while. I love the green status icons and outlines for apps. Thanks!

Yeah, I've noticed this too. Changing DPI causes chaOS launcher to FC. Other than that, this ROM is awesome so far. Also running latest mortez kernel with no problems.
