Just got Nexus S as my secondary daily driver. It came with GB and want to flash factory Jelly bean.
Since I don't have its fastboot drivers install, the mobo can't be correctly detected in fastboot mode.
Where do I get the fastboot drivers and most importantly how do I install them?
Sent from my XDA pimped Neo V
I shared the same problem like you, but i got it to work!
Use the Nexus Root Toolkit, in installs most of the Drivers, including fastboot.
Yup I am also having Nexus S as my secondary driver .. The problem is with windows 8 which doesn't install fastboot driver automatically unlike windows 7 ..
Just install wug's nexus root tool kit to install drivers and follow inststructions .. Note that ADB drivers will be installed without any fuss but fastboot driver installation will be a fuss ..
Make sure to install drivers of PDA planet... The fast boot drivers will be installed but still you wont get it working ..
Just go to the device manager and check for the android devices , there you will find the ADB device listed .. Click on it to update drivers to get a option for browsing the driver files manually.. You can find "let me pick from a list of driver " here choose the fastboot drivers for Nexus S .. Voila you device will be recogonised in fastboot mode and you can check this using step3 of the Root tool kit driver installation.. From now Win8 will automatically choose drivers each time you connect your Nexus S in adb or fastboot mode..

I've installed a ROM and need to flash boot.img but in "cmd" ı cannot do this. I'm using Windows 8 and I got "waiting for device" error. I ran cmd as administrator and wrote "fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img" but they did not work too. How can I flash the boot.img ? Thanks for your helps.
Anyone know that ?

Windows 8 has issues with HTC Drivers. For example I have 2 Windows 8 machines - one with clean install, the other - an upgrade from Windows 7.
The upgraded one, which has perfectly working drivers on Win7 now connects the device fine. But I spent hours on the other one (clean install) trying different drivers without sucess. It just refuses to detect the device.
So you can install older version of Windows or Ubuntu as dual-boot alongside your Win8 or use another computer.
And do not add the "-i 0xfce" to the command, it is not necessary. fastboot flash boot boot.img will do fine
Hi, I have successfully unlocked the bootloader and have tried many times by many methods to flash a custom recovery and/or root this phone. (because I need to get some photos off after my son reset it with his holiday snaps still on there)
I have managed to root my other XT1032 and flashed it with CWM (i did this on windows 8.1.) But this phone refuses to budge.
I have the latest SDK updates but I either get no devices in adb devices or I can connect but the flash says partition size mismatch and if I try to scroll to recovery it reboots in normal mode to a clean phone (ie out of the box).
I have enabled debugging over usb and allow unsigned apps, I have the latest adb drivers, motorola drivers. I'm using windows 10 and the phone is stock lollipop 5.1.
I have tried kingroot on the phone and on windows. MotoToolAio v3, just using cmd line in platform tools and some other all in one tools, none work. What am I doing wrong? Is it windows 10?

OK I got CWM to flash yay! now to root it
Hi Team,
Greetings.
I have been using LG Nexus 5 running cm12.1 but since the moment I updated the phone to cm13 I have started facing lots of troubles. The phone boots up and stuck on cm logo also I did something and the twrp recovery is not seen anymore instead I only have cyanogemode recovery which is driving me nuts. The present situation I am facing is I can't connect my phone to the pc for me to reinstall twrp. I really appreciate your help in this matter.
Thanks a lot for your time.
Merry Christmas!
Jinson Jose.
So the phone is not detected when connected in fastboot mode? Adb commands are often used when the phone has fully booted into the installed rom.

Hi Yes the phone is not detected and I tried adb commands too but in vain. I guess I messed up the phone while I am on cyanogenmode recovery by trying to format the phone.
Is the phone detected when you connect the phone to the computer in fastboot mode? ADB commands will not work in fastboot mode as you need to use fastboot commands.
Maybe it might be the PC drivers? I lost connection too and managed to restore it by using the driver setup module in Wugfresh's Nexus Root Toolkit. It will walk you through removing vestiges of old drivers and help install new drivers.

No the phone is not detected. All I can see is a usb sign and it says nexus 5. I can't open nexus 5 files.
The computer is a Windows xp or win7 machine?
No devices are found and you run a fastboot command?

Hi Thanks for your reply. The Machine is Windows 10. I tried fastboot commands as seen in one of the google searches. When I connect the phone it is not detected. I was able to see the nexus but I think I messed things by trying to factory reset and wipe cache using cyanogenmode recovery. Now the computer shows only universal serial bus devices when I connect the phone.
OP, hello...? Am I inaudible/illegible? Have you tried setting up the ADB/Fastboot via NRT as I suggested?
I don't use Win10. I do all of my flashing on a Win7 x64 machine and everything works perfectly when I am dealing with my Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and nexus 7.
I use Win10 with no problems. It must be the driver setup. NRT will fix it for the OP if he can clear whatever is preventing him seeing my post...
Hi, I've deleted all storage from my device and all I've got now is TWRP recovery.
I', trying to push a rom through fastboot but my PC won't recognize my device, I have Universal ADB Drivers intalled, also I've got Samsung ADB drivers istalled, and Android SDK installed; yet my device won't show up when I'm in fastboot and typing 'adb devices'.
Obviously I cannot turn Debugging on since I don't have a system.
so...
what CAN I do?
thanks

Use drivers and setup from this guide.
I'm trying to unlock my bootloader to install a custom rom. "adb devices" command works fine but "fastboot devices" doesn't return anything. In windows device manager i haven't updated drivers because i dont know where to download them. Any help with drivers? I have an "android bootloader interface" option there but windows warns me that it might not be compatible and might break everything.

Just downloading the adb drivers from google's own site made it work on another PC. I think my problem is that Windows has installed the wrong drivers for me. When i plug a device in for the first time, it says something like "setting up your device". I think during that point it installed wrong drivers on my own PC. On my brothers PC everything works like it's supposed to. Any idea how to get Windows to install the drivers again?

Problem persist when you try to install Drivers without valid signature in Windows 10.. Try to DIsable Driver Signature Enforcement..
Link to do it https://windowsreport.com/driver-signature-enforcement-windows-10/
Then try to install Drivers from this link :- https://drive.google.com/file/d/1L7EZGx5mgeQYXO19Vsp9FWu9GXhF45Qs/view
Let me know if that helps..
I have quit the same problem expected that i already have my bootloader unlock and usb debugging turn on...
im trying to flash twrp image, after failed yesterday to apply pixen os11. I had access to fasboot mode and to flash zip etc and my drivers was instaled but now my laptop didn't reconize my phone when plug in in fastboot and is on other devices in my devices manager. I tried to install updates manualy but nothing happened.
i dont know if it is related but i did update windows between my secon attempt to flash pixen os. Maybe the drivers were update in the same occasions ? Because a i have no others problems when my phone is boot normally and can acess to internal storage from my computer.
