Help! Dropped calls and choppy sound? - HTC Sensation

Hi all. I have an HTC Sensation running CM10.1. I have two strange problems with it:
1. Choppy sound. I can hear the other person but every few seconds there's a faint "click" where the sound cuts.
2. Dropped calls. In the middle of a call (can be 15 minutes or 40 seconds), I get a BEEP and a dropped call. After this, and for the next few seconds, I can't receive or make calls (I can "force" it by turning airplane mode on and off).
I've tried disabling 3G, no change.
My provider is Personal (Argentina). Now, the odd thing is: I have no problems using a SIM from Claro AR.
Even weirder: this happens only at some places. Particularly: around my house. In other areas of the city, or in other cities, it works fine (with Personal or Claro).
Network name appears as "Claro AR" with claro and "AR TP" with personal (with official rom it says "Personal"). From what I've been reading, Personal uses 1900 and 850MHz, depending on the area. Claro uses both. The box says "850/1900/2100"
Network search doesn't work. But this has never worked on any phone I owned since my first Motorola T2297 12 years ago.

[Q] I Have to dial 5 or 6 times until call goes through, help?

Hi and thank you in advance,
Since getting my Inspire 4g I've had a problem calling people. (before and after root). When I settle on a contact and hit call, I get a beep and get disconnected before any ringtone happens. I have to do this about five or six times until I can actually connect with who I have to call.
This happens when I have full service.

If it happened before you rooted I'd take it back for a new device.
If you've already rooted, here are a few things I had to do when I was having this problem:
1. Turn off mobile data. This seemed to restore voice 100%
2. Switch to GSM Only, rather than GSM/WCDMA auto. If this works the way it's supposed to, you should only get EDGE data, but voice will be 100%
3. Change your ro.ril.hsxpa value in build.prop to =1. This will disable HSUPA, but you'll still have HSDPA.
I used to have this problem ALLLLLLLL the time on multiple ROMs, multiple Radios. For the last week and a half or so I was running android revolution 4g 3.2, with ro.ril.hsxpa=1, and did not have the problem once. Yesterday I flashed to revolution HD 4.0 b4, along with the recommended radio, and have not had any issues dialing or receiving calls (although 1 call did drop, but I blame that on my mom having no idea how to use a cell phone). The ro.ril.hsxpa is currently set to 2.
At first it appeared to be an issue that was occurring after HSUPA was utilized, but if it was happening to you on stock, that can't be the case because ATT hasn't turned on HSUPA in the stock ROM yet.

I cannot make calls with my G2x

This is my second G2x and both have exhibited the same behavior. It will dial a number, whether from the phonebook or the dialer itself, and the phone application will say that it is dialing. After 30 seconds or so, and no ringing on the other end of the line, the call ends itself.
I usually have to enable Airplane mode, then disable it, to be able to make a call. sometimes I have to go as far as rebooting the phone completely after which it may or may not work. Incoming calls fail as well so I am missing quite a few calls and texts...but thhe emails and other data messages come through.
Oddly, data works perfectly regardless of whether the phone is having problems calling. This happens in 2g as well as 4g. I have manually selected 2g and could not call and had the same trouble in WCDMA only mode. I thought it was related to Wifi calling but enabling that has no effect.
Any ideas? I am trying my other line to see if that SIM card is having trouble. I just have no other ideas at this point.

I used to have this problem frequently on my MT3G. Since someone else is having this problem on a different phone, I would guess that it's something software related.
Alright, it is happening on both of my lines. It might be a program that I installed so I am loading them back on one at a time to see if can determine which it is. I am looking at either Google Voice or Beautiful Widgets as likely culprits at this time but there is not certainty. I have also avoided installing Facebook and Twitter. I am able to make calls right now. I will see if this keeps working for the next few hours...maybe through to my morning coffee. I really hope it is an application, something I can do without, because it would be pretty bad if it is the phone. My girl just ordered one of these as well since she likes mine so much.

Happened to me twice today, first in the AM and then again around 2200 central time. i recently started using setcpu so not sure if thats an issue or not. anyone find the app responsible?
Yes, it has happened to me too, usually after it is in standby or idle, and this is my second phone. But my second phone not happens as often as the first one. Reboot is the only way I can get it to work. I notice that the signal is very weak only 1 or 2 bars.
That is a very good point to mention...that it is almost always directly after bringing the phone out of standby. Mine just did it again.
Same problem here. I don't even know how many calls or txts I've missed since.
Had this issue with my N1 and I always chalked it up to cruddy radio and/or coverage. I've since had it on my g2x once or maybe twice I think (had g2x for 3 days now), but at least after it timed out I was able to try again and the call would go through. With my N1 it would never recover unless I toggled airplane mode or sometimes even needed to reboot.
I hope there are some improvements in this area, because bad radio was my biggest gripe with my N1, and i really want to love this phone!

[Q] How to fix sound distortion IN CALL incoming?

Hello, everytime I make o receive a call I hear distortion sound something like static. I can hear the voice from the person talking but not much.
The distortion doesn't allowed me to hear verywell.

I have used 2G and 3G and it's the same.
Others problems:
- Sometimes even the call ends without explanation. Sometimes to seconds started, other in minutes. It's very ramdom. Not always happen.
- The network keep changing ramdomly from 2G to 3G, from 3G to 2G. Sometimes I select 3G but it doesn't change!!!
Any solution, mainly for the first problem?
Thanks in advance.

SAME ISSUES WITH ME MATE.. CYGN 11s ROM , Network Bar in LTE is One and When i switch to 3g its full and also sometimes static sound while on call
Sounds like your network signal is to blame especially if it keeps switching between 2g and 3g like that, not the phone

Issue with "Dropped" Calls

I have a G8142 with the latest security patches/updates on AT&T.
I'm having a strange issue occur on probably one out of every two or three calls. After about 45-60 seconds of conversation, my mic will cut out. I can still hear the other person clearly. I can end the call (this is not instant - it hangs up for 3 to 5 seconds) and then call the person back and resume conversation normally.
A few notes:
It doesn't matter if I place the call or if I am called
The duration from beginning of call to cutting out fluctuates
My microphone diagnostic indicates it is working properly
The call does not seem to actually drop - it will go on for quite some time (with me able to hear the other person) until someone eventually hangs up
Calling the person back/being called back does not fix the issue (it can happen multiple times in a row with the same person/call sequence)
Signal strength is usually -80 or better
The phone functions flawlessly otherwise. There also don't seem to be any issues or drops with respect to the data connection, and SMS/MMS messages seem to get delivered immediately every time. The phone hasn't been dropped or exposed to any liquid. I have disabled some system apps (like Facebook), but none that seemingly have to do with making phone calls.
I have full bars most of the time. I force 3G+ on the phone, as the 4G+ (LTE) signal is weak in many areas. AFAIK that only affects data rates anyway.
It doesn't seem to happen as much if at all if I put the call in speaker mode. I have not used a bluetooth headset for calls to see if that fixes the issue.
Here's some things I've tried:
Rebooted the phone
Updated my IMEI with AT&T. I'm not sure if they actually did it (they stated it was "already changed") or if it makes a difference. My last phone was an unlocked Nexus 6p and did not have this issue. I did not get a new SIM for this phone.
Double-checked and redownloaded the APN settings.
I haven't tried voice calling through a third-party app, like hangouts or whatsapp, but I assume it would work just fine because it's being transmitted over data.
There is either a GSM/setting issue on my end, a settings issue on AT&T's end, or possibly a hardware issue (like a loose SIM, faulty mic, or bad antenna).
For now I'm at a loss, and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
*** UPDATE ***
I've tried clearing the phone app cache and making sure that battery optimization is turned off for the app. I'll report back if this seems to fix it in case anyone is having a similar problem.
*** UPDATE 2 ***
That didn't work. Calls still drop intermittently. I've pretty much narrowed it down to a problem with the antenna, AT&T towers not particularly caring for the baseband firmware on this phone, or an issue with the dialer app. Performing calls over data (like Whatsapp/Hangouts/Duo) works flawlessly.
We'll see what happens if the phone app gets an update, or maybe after Sony releases the Oreo update.
For those US XZP users on AT&T or those that were considering buying this model, be aware this issue may affect you.
*** UPDATE 3 ***
Changing the mobile radio to 4G (preferred) instead of forcing 3G seems to have solved the problem.
