[Q] HELP~ CM 10.1 problem with mhotspot/connectify - General Questions and Answers

I'm having problem making my CM 10.1 on HTC sensation XE connect to a hotspot created by my laptop/computer via connectify or mhotspot kinda program..
Why can't my phone connect to the net (it connects to the wifi alright, but no internet) even after I've shared the internet in LAN settings. It keeps showing grey WIFI icon. I posted here because I couldn't post on CM 10.1

Have you created an AP (Access Point) or are you trying to share Internet via adhoc? I have installed connectify as well. Most Android Phones and also many Roms aren't able to connect via an adhoc network.
Access Point is only available from Win7 or Win8. Older windows versions can only create adhoc networks because of lack on support for the newer technology.
Are you running Win7 or Win8?
If yes, is your network set to Access Point?
If not try to change it. For me everything works fine with connectify. Great Program btw.

Internet from pc to android device

AKA reverse-tethering.
I tried to find info on that subject and it's impossibly scarce. Very strange as I am sure there are a lot of guys that don't have 3g connection.
So how to do it?
Is it possible to configure Bluetooth PAN and do it like the WM6.5 guides say?
Is it possible through USB connection?
Easiest way is on a PC with a wireless network adapter and Windows 7.
Use the Virtual Router Manager http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/ to set up your computer as a wireless router that you can connect your phone to.
I use it a lot when I am travelling / working and a hotel room or office only has wired internet. I can connect the laptop to the ethernet then share up the connection via my wireless LAN.
Connect Dell Streak to PC using Connectify software
Couldn't use Virtual Router with my Dell Streak, but Connectify 2.1 Beta 4 works!
Make sure your driver supports this function. VirtualRouter website provides with a list of compatible network cards (link).
In addition, only Win7 supports this service.
Download for Beta version of Connectify is in the Blog section.
Laptop: Latitude E4300.
Os: Win7 32 Pro.
.Net 4.0.
Network card: Dell 1510 N (broadcom BCM94322MC8L / driver 5.30.21.0).
Mobile: Dell Streak AT&T (Android 2.1).
Connectify 2.1.0.16290 (Beta 4)
I ve a Linksys Wireless USB Network Adapter (WUSB54GC)

Try the wpa_adhoc-signed.zip from this thread: "Android Ad-hoc support hack/wpa_supplicant"
I had the same problem, but this solved it. My HTC Desire sees now AdHoc access points.

This worked perfectly! I am using an external USB Wireless WiFi Network Adapter to connect my laptop to the internet, so I don't know if that makes a difference. Thanks for sharing the info!!!

[Q] adhoc connected but no internet

I followed the directions on my rooted tab to my rooted droid. Its connected but I cannot access internet.HELP!
Got stuck with the same issue....
seems, as far as could read in other forums and threads, that Droids and iPhones are not supposed to connect to the Internet using the PC's connection (via USB or Ad-hoc W-Lan). Using my local router at home: works fine.
My HTC HD2 with WM6.5 connects to the PC with its internet connection without a Problem (usb and wireless Ad-hoc). The same HTC HD2 with Android won't work ....
DiLo
Same thing...

Same problem here... It connects but no internet access...
and btw, the iPhone DOES connect to the internet using Ad-hoc. (although that doesn't help us much...)

[Q] Can WM6.5 share modem with a Ginger tablet ?

Here's the problem of a newb user of an Android tablet.
I favent' found any similar thread here @ the Forum.
I've just bought a chinese tablet (EM73...maybe Haipad or Irobot) with Ginger 2.3.3 installed by the vendor.
Everything goes right but not the sharing connection with the modem of my HTC TP2 (WM 6.5).
I can do it (through BT or WIFI connection) just if I use my netbook (Win XP home) running WMWifiRouter or CM Internet sharing. The router is immediatly recognized by the pc and I can use internet or SN (like FB) or Skype....and so on with an EDGE connection.
I've tried to do the same by connecting the modem-router to my new tablet, running WMWIFIRouter on TP2 but without seeing the net in the list of wifi connections.
No problem with the router and the ADSL connection that I use at home but no connections appears in the list of the tablet if I try to share the EDGE connection of my smartphone.
I've tried to connect by using an USB cable (using some apps found on the market) but nothing happens.
Someone says it depends of the type of connection (ad hoc = WM; infrastructure = Android)... but I can't find any solution to create that type of connection (is it possible ???=).
Can someone help me please ?
Though I don't have a solution, to help I can promise you it has to do with using ad-hoc. My Sirius and DSLite would not hook up to my WinMo phone because of it being Ad-hoc.

[Q] How to connect to wifi 802.1x EAP ?

help me connect to eduroam pls
when i try to connect it says : "scanning ...."then "connecting ...." then "saved, secured with 802.1x"
Sensation XE
fw 3.25
rom : ARHD 6.2.1
ICS
same for me Sony
seems to be an android bug
-scanning-connecting-searching---- "disabled, secured with 802.1x eap"
this is my loop, and no connection at all
Same here :-(
iPhone users can connect fine to my company's 802.1x wifi network, but i can't from my android phones (SE Xperia X10 on Gingerbread & HTC Sensation on ICS)
A google search shows a lot of users having issue in connecting to 802.1x networks since Froyo (Android 2.2). There are worksrounds suggested, but they don't appear to work for me.
It seems the issue still exists in ICS as well :-(
Try LEAP WiFi free (it is in the market) or try to find one app for your comapny.
Leap WiFi works fine for me on IBM EAP APs.
Delete your old saved setting, before creating a new with Leap WiFi.

Finally, I've defeated my CiSCO EAP-FAST corporate wifi network and now all our Android devices are able to connect to it.
The walkaround I've performed in order to gain access to this kind of networks from an Android device are easiest that you can imagine.
I'am a BES, MDM and Lotus Administrator, and btw and iOS lover.
Many of my colleages are Android users, and their claim is always the same.
Why iOS and BB users are able to connect to the corporate wireless network by chosing only WPA2 Enterprise and only needs the network SSID and their Active Directory Credentials?
2 years has passed since I heard this claim from my colleagues for the first time , and until yesterday, all of them remained disconnected even when they had ICS on their devices.
This things made me think about the Android and iOS system differences, and the way the OS developer thinks.
A wireless chipSet is a wireless chipset, and it not depends of the OS installed in a mobile device to have a better compatibility.( not like servers or routers ).
When you setup a Corporate wifi network on iPhone, basically you command the system to use some protocols to connect to, included in the WPA2 Enterprise cabinet. the system check all of the until find the right one to connect.
Android doesn't have the same protocols defined in his WPA2 Enterprise system definitions, so if you try to connect to it by using the main Android interface, you will have an authentication error.
There's a Wifi Config Editor in the Google Play Store you can use to "activate" the secondary CISCO Protocols when you are setting up a EAP wifi connection.
It's name is Wifi Config Advanced Editor.
Firstable you have to setup your wireless network manually as seemful as you can to your "official" corporate wifi parameters.
Save it.
Go to the WCE and edit the parameters of the network you have created in the previous step.
There are 3 or 4 series of settings you should activate in order to force the Android device to use them as a way to connect (the main site I think you want to visit is Enterprise Configuration, but don't forget to check all the parameters to change them if needed.
As a suggestion, even if you have a WPA2 EAP-FAST Cipher, try LEAP in your setup.
It worked for me as a charm.
When you finished to edit the config, go to the main Android wifi controller, and force to connect to this network.
DO NOT Edit the network again with the Android wifi interface.
Tested on Samsung Galaxy 1, 2 and Note mobile devices and on a Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet.
Gingerbread, Honeycomb and ICS.
May the force be with you, my young Padawan
Regards
Try the "Leap WIFI free" app from Play Store
Try the "Leap WIFI free" app from Play Store. Its an app provided by a developer called "OneGuyInABasement".
I was having the same issue where I couldn't connect to the (802.1x EAP based) Wifi network at my workplace.
I configured the network through this app and now I can connect just fine.
Leap WIFI free not working with JB 4.2.1
I have tried using Leap WIFI free on my Asus TF700T running the latest OTA update to JB (4.2.1).
While the tool seems to create a network profile, it does not even connect.
Trying to connect to a wifi network that shows up as Cisco EAP-FAST when I connect via my windows laptop
I've tried creating the profile using the built in wifi config editor as well, unfortunately it defaults to PEAP and while it connects and gets an IP address I do not have actual network access (e.g. web browsing fails).
The wifi ACE tool has not been updated to support JB yet either.
Any other suggestions?

[Q] WiFi Hotspot

Dear All,
I am currently using a Windows Vista based laptop with a Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless card in it with updated drivers. Now whenever I try connect using connectify to make a wireless hotspot it does create a hotspot, but on my android handset I can't find any wifi network in range. Pls suggest a way to reverse tether my phone with my pc without the need of rooting the phone. I am currently using a Android v4.0.I am using internet through a USB Data Card.
Thanx All.

your going to have to root it to be able to tether pc to your phone or phone to pc.
use "pda net+" for usb theathring wifi hot spot as wel as bluetooth theathring.
There's another app called FoxFi that claims to handle wifi tether w/out root. But I've never used it ,and i'm not sure if it works to tether in either direction, but worth a quick look .... (can't post a link cuz i'm not >10 posts yet)
