Here's what I'd like to buy: EDD-S20JWEGSTA - Samsung Smart Dock Multimedia Hub ... But I don't want to spend $99 on it. The cheapest I could find it was about $68 ($5 ship) on Amazon.
Has anyone found a cheaper alternative? A knock-off brand? A Chinese version? (admit it, the Chinese can be good at making cheap off-brand accessories ... when they work right)
EDIT: It's noteworthy that I'm looking specifically to charge the device, use HDMI out, and USB OTG. Anything short of this would be a waste of time for me.
Also interested in a dock that supports HDMI, OTG, and charging.

I did check into that and registered with Samsung, but the coupon they sent me only works for items that are $50 or less. Lamesauce.

Isn't written anywhere. Anything about 700ma will be good, otherwise you can always return it for full refund at no cost. From my previous experience Amazon has been pretty good at returns and refunds.
It is now 1.99 and its not from Amazon its a third party seller. You can get cheaper on ebay.
I'll I can find is 3rd party accessories, except for expensive ones on ebay.

The worst part is the crossed-out $99.99 next to the price, as if it was ever sold for that much.
There are laws against that kind of thing in some countries - that is, saying something is on sale when it isn't.

It should be whatever they can get. if it doesn't sell, they're charging too much and the price will drop. And materials aren't the only costs that go into developing the product

Buy it, if you dont like it send it back. Or sell it on eBay: here in Germany they sell for more than the HTC Shop pricing (57€ on htc shipping incl., ebay 60-70€)

I doubt it even has a bluetooth chip in it since the phone already has one built in.

It has a Bluetooth chip.
I ordered mine on expansys, it only takes 3 business days to have it.
I got a dock on eBay second hand for 30gbp bit expensive but sooooo worth it there is no alternative to an OEM dock such a snug fit. As for the Bluetooth that's got to be a lie! No where in the unit is there a Bluetooth icon. Very strange

The phone connects by bluetooth to the dock for audio, which is why there's a 3.5mm jack on the back of the phone without a connection to the nexus's audio port.

Any other charger will charge slower than the official Samsung one because of the way it implements a quickcharge spec. That said, I use this one and it works well - but definitely slower than the Samsung one:

Any cable should be fine as long as it meets USB specs. I got a bunch on Monoprice that work great.

It's probably NOT true OEM, but it does charge my S4 at 1900mA. However, the cable that came with it did not work. It won't even fit on the s4, or any other microUSB ports. It looked used/broken. I am using a regular USB cable from monoprice and it works fine.
btw, I ordered from BLUTEKUSA. I don't see them on the list of sellers right now, so it might be dangerous to buy these as there are a lot of negative reviews on the other sellers.

Seems like the blackberry playbook charger is all good, charges the phone perfectly and efficiently.
I am using the iGO Dual USB Wall Charger for Tablets. It has two 2.1Amp ports, comes with a 6 or 7 foot USB cable and the A97 tip for charging. Works wonderfully and found it on clearance at RadioShack for $8.98. I can charge my iPad and my S4 at the same time with no issues.

I think the Samsung Amazon shop should have one relatively cheaper than store bought model. I bought one awhile back and paid
$60 for it, and last I saw they were about $35 on Amazon. Though I have a Chromecast too and I tend to use that more, but they each have their own uses.

I've just ordered one from samsung.com for $19.99 after 50% off coupon code (r96N5x6). You can google for more coupon codes. You have to register for the code to work. I had to register a new account for the code to work. For some reason my existing samsung account did not accept the coupon.
For anyone wanting to use their existing micro-USB cables until the price and availability of type C accessories improve, here is a very good price. It's made by Xiaomi and sold by TinyDeal. The damn thing is less than $2 shipped (from China, but not in stock until 11/15) and as long as you're not in a hurry, that's hard to beat.
