Which case/film to use with official Samsung charging back? - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

Which case/film to use with official Samsung charging back?
It is thicker, and so far I can see nothing that will fit, can anyone shed some light on this please?

I used a Spigen Neo-hybrid (bulged) but fit fine, as well as a Tech 21 Impact shell case.

I would but I sold it a few days ago when I went from two S4's down to one lol. I thought it looked good even with a hump out the back.

Has anyone tried the official Samsung wireless charging back cover with the UAG case?

I tried it bulged but it seems to effect the flash in pictures.

I tried out all the cases I could today at Best Buy with my S4 and S Charging battery cover, and NONE of them would work - they kind of started to go on, then would slide off on the long sides of the phone.... I was thinking about a Ghost Armor cover or cutting my own protective cover for it, debating on whether I will do it out of XPEL Invisible Paint Protection film (the stuff you use to protect the paint on cars) or 3M 1080 Carbon Fiber vinyl since there really isn't any other option, but I'm still not sure I want to do either one of those film options, here's why:
The clear bra paint protection film will make it stick in my pocket and add a ton of lint build up to the trimmed edges all the way around the battery cover, and the carbon fiber film (I have it in white and black currently) will change the texture of the back cover, something I preferred in the past but have become accustomed to since I bought my S4 and have used it without a case since launch day!
Let's keep this conversation going but not just with CASES, but film or other forms of protection in mind as well!

Review: Spigen s5 slim case ultra fit

You can find this at http://www.spigen.com/galaxy-s5-case-ultra-fit-shell.html although I bought mine off Amazon.
This case is slim fit and snaps on. It looks great, fits snugly, and gives good access to all ports. The color matches up with the gold s5 extremely well. As opposed to the cases that have a separate back and rim, this adds almost nothing at all to the bulk of the phone. it feels like it will take drops and bumps well without cracking. As with all slim-fit snap-on shells I would not expect this to protect the screen. I do expect that it will do a very good job of protecting the body from scratches and bumps. It is not padded so it won't ease the shock of a drop. The Spigen page doesn't claim anything more than a good grip and that it will "help prevent the case from accidental drops". It's made of plycarbonate with urethane coating.
This case came with a Steinheil ultra crystal screen protector. The protector is cut perfectly for the screen and I was able to reposition it as necessary. It is indeed crystal clear. I haven't had it on long enough to test for scratch endurance.
Overall I love this case. It's my new favorite.

Thanks for the review!!! Is the case slippery? Yes they say it has a good grip but how is it actually in real life use?
That link for the case at the spigen website doesnt work just so you know. But youcan just google spigen s5 case and it will show up. Awesome review bro!

Supcase Unicorn Beetle

Hi Guys,
Just want to post a review regarding a Full Protective Casing for our beloved Note 4. I got this casing through some seller. Not phone shops. Since I'm from Singapore, these kind of rugged and full protective cases are not available unless by ordering them through official website or Amazon.
Was surprised that there was a seller who's selling this here. Since it's a case that I've been aiming for, I decided to grab it rightaway.
The case itself is divided into 2 parts. The rubber and the hard plastic holding the screen protector. Putting it all together was quite snappy. I can say it's not too bulky or too small. Just nice.
Opening it up, it's nicely pack into a compact box. Also there'a a plastic covering the front and inside of the screen protector. No defects. I don't use the holster since it will be troublesome for me. Moving on.
Here is the link to the official site:
http://www.supcase.com/samsung-galaxy-note-4-unicorn-beetle-pro-protective-case.html
Here comes the review!!
The Pro's:
All ports covered. Including the S-Pen.
Only protector for screen. None on LED, Sensor, Front Speaker, Front Camera and Back Camera.
It's quite light if without holster.
Smooth and easy if kept in pocket. Not gonna be stuck like some cases if u try to keep and remove in n out from your pocket.
Volume, Power Button casing design is align well.
The Con's:
Fingerprint Scanning will be abit difficult as the case actually interfere with the button.
The port covers will be out of shape if continuously opened up.
Due to the smoothness of the case, it might just slip from your hands.
That are the ones that I noticed for now.
I attached 2 pics, front and back. Sorry for the lack of details and pics as I'm currently at work. LOL! Hope my review help for those who are looking to buy this case.

I have a skinomi carbon fiber skin along the sides of my N4 and this case tore apart the skin on the side that I used to snap into the top piece of this case; as such, I believe it would be safe to assume that this case could scratch your phones metal edges. This case (for myself at least) was an extremely tight fit. As I have said in my supcase thread, this case is a really tight fit - if not too small.
I cannot say if the case will work with wireless charging, but I can assure you that your otterbox is much, much better than this supcase.
Super-thanks @JippleStar
I had installed Skinomi's Techskin last night on my Note 4 and the Otterbox Defender Series case did not accept my phone; was too resistant, and so I thought that I should stick with the Commuter for now without the Wireless Back Cover. I'll keep the Defender for back up and / or when I'm outdoors.

Its too bad the Skinomi Techskin does not include protection to the Chamfered edges. Neither do the other skins on the market. Bummer.

NP :good: I was very disappointed with this case and would never want anyone to go through that whole buy and return process, ya know? :silly:
I've never had so much trouble finding a case - or any other accessory though. I guess that's one of the downsides of having an extra large phone  & yeah, I would definitely keep the defender for days when you need that water-proof protection :good:
Microscratches on the Note 4's metal chamfered edges are unavoidable, even when applying the Otterbox cases, sad, but true. However, the way these phones were packaged, every Note 4 sold as new in its sealed box, has one or two scratches somewhere; I know this especially after unboxing close to a dozen Note 4's. First gapgate, then this. Lol.
Have to find a case once and for all, other-wise, we are only making our devices more susceptible.
Any solution for metal chamfered edges? I e-mailed Skinomi regarding this, and this was their response
"Hello,
Thank you for your email, and for your feedback. Unfortunately the item has been designed off the actual device here at the facility for the best results. However I will be more than glad to send your feedback to our design team.
Have a great day!

I second that. Lol! I'm just too tired to think about the metal edges of this beast. It's bound to be scratch sooner or later. Do not care about it that much. Care about the other surroundings instead.
I'm already thinking about the Note 5. Will be the first in line when that comes out.

Well it happens to every rugged case. Especially if u have keys or coins in ur bag or pocket that u put your phone with. Same goes if u do not have a casing or cover for your phone. There will be scratches too.

I too have the same Unicorn Beetle case- cheap alternative for Overpriced Defender ( otterbox )..but fingerprint scanning is difficult due to front of case jutting out, so your finger doesnt get a flat
area to run across. Holster is decent- but somewhat stiff. but for 20.00... 1/3 the price, I'm happy. Phone is protected.. until a better option comes around...with a holster.

I learnt a trick. U redo ur fingerprint scanning with the case on. U can do in any position and ways as long u do slow and steady. U'll find that it works better with the casing on rather than naked. For my N4, i just have to scan the top of my thumb and otz unlocked. Give a try. Just scan follow the flow of the casing design. From top till the casing.

What S6 cases is everyone using?

I'm using a vintage stylish back cover along a SGP tempered glass(9H) for the screen protection,it's good so far,for I'm not get used to the flip cover or wallet cover,it's not convenient as the brief cover as coming calls&messages, which makes it wired and also no good for video watching and daily usage. Besides, the case also with double wallet slot on the back for credit cards etc.,and two slots is enough. The slim design also enjoy another 10 scores, fine match the S6's thickness without make your device a clumsy one.

Is it genuine leather case? Doest it protect the camer (i.e. have a lip near camera or just thicker than the camera)? Is it soft enough inside or is it plastic inside?
I think I could go for it if there were no card holders)
Edit: found it cheaper on ebay. I think I'll order one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Rea...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item20fa6c88e2

Spiegen neo-hybrid here. Minimal bulk, great grip and feel with metal buttons. I myself feel that screen protectors are unnecessary anymore, as todays gorrila glass does well enough to protect from scratches. A screen protector isn't going to stop a drop-shatter anyways. The neo is the best looking and thinnest of the 5 cases I have, all while providing two-piece drop protection.

I respect your view on tempered glass, I have heard a lot of good things about it. Unfortunately for me, it didnt work so well the one time I needed it to. As far as cases go, the hybrid is about as thin as a current generation (protective) case could be. If you want any thinner, why would you use a case at all?

That's an excellent question, sir!
Firstly, I beleive it will still save the back glass from shattering if I drop my phone (and I know I will drop it some day, always happens to me when after the honey moon I become more and more careless with the new toy).
Secondly, I afraid to much for the camera lens, which just waaaay too protruding to be safe, imo and also very weak according too AndroidAuthority review. (rly samsung? for 700 bucks your could not go for saphire glass on the protruding camera lens?)
My concerns with the camera lens are the same as yours, but we can't change the design of the S6. I don't think sapphire lense would help too much either. More costly, interferes with clarity, and still breaks.
I'm using the UAG case. Love this thing. Very very slim and provides the best protection for my phone out of all the cases I've owned. UAG cases might be on the top end of costs ($30-35) but it is built to last
I used a Spigen neo hybrid, but I ended up with a UAG as well
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TRG8KGO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This leather sleeve which fits perfectly. Pretty tight actually, so no risk of your phone falling out I guess. Great quality leather and finishing I must say, they're all handmade. Price is a bit steep but you do get what you pay for and honestly, if you spend this amount of money on a phone you might as well spend some money on protecting it.
I thought about buying on of those Spigen cases which look slick, but then I thought; Samsung finally made a phone with a finish worth looking at and holding in your hand when using it, why hide that in a case?

I just bought this case and do like it, but all of my Mediabridge microUSB cables don't fit in the opening on the bottom. Do you happen to know of any good high rated cables that fit well? Was debating getting a different case because of it that's possibly less bulky too.

Hey,
I'm curious what is your prefered protection. I'm currently using a case but I'm thinking about switching to a skin, maybe dbrand or a real wood one.

Thisphone is hard to hold naked so I run a case, ringke is my current daily. I'd love to run a skin but they simply aren't attractive with seems, plus I like being able to toss my phone around.
Have you seen the cruzerlite bugdroid cases? I have a red and a black one. However, due to the nature of the material in the semi opaque red one, it is more flexible and does not fit as well as the black one. So the black one stays on permanently.

Yeah I've seen them. They look not bad.
Currently using a silicon case, but planning on using skin sometime soon. Really want to feel the Z5C touch without any hindrance. Love the frosted glass finish on the back.
I wish there was a Diztronic TPU case for it. I've been using their brand for my previous Moto X, Nexus 6 and 5x and they're the best I've had so far. Minimalistic, durable and protective. Anyways for now I'm using a Orzly Semi transparent TPU case bought from Amazon, it's fairly decent compared to what's available, i wouldn't consider a skin on this device.

I've been using the DevilCase aluminum bumper with a tempered glass protector. So far it's held up to all the drops and smacks I've given it. The bumper is visible worn and scratched but the phone itself still looks new.
I use a generic transparent silicone case that covers and provide a front raise.d protection the phone is slippery as hell without a case. I've dropped it several times getting inside and outside of the car during the first 2 months. It got some heavy scratches on the corners and also on the back from slipping it in and out of my front jean pockets. It loses some of it's appeal with the case but then again; I got a much better grip now and I can just drop it instead of 'gently' placing it on the table; and I do this like 100x a day.

It's around $50, not the most expensive of cases but more than the standard TPU and silicone ones.
I've used them on my last three phones and have always been happy with them. Their customer service is also tremendous.
Using a Ringke case for now. It came with a screen protector, but i'm not using it.

Ah ok, I'm rocking an orzly case. Not bad either....
I always use TPU cases with my phones. I wish I didn't have to use a case, but your phone WILL eventually fall and hit the ground at some point, so you need protection. I prefer TPU because it's the perfect balance between polycarbonate and silicone. It is hard enough to feel robust and not stick to your pockets (pulling everything up along with your phone), and feels soft enough to absorb impacts. NEVER had a phone crack or dent with one of these. And they fall from hip height from time to time when I get out of the car. I dunno, some part of this is luck, but I trust these cases. They're simple, dirt cheap and efficient.
In addition to a glass scree protector on the front, I use a dbrand sticker on the back to increase grip and protect the glass from breaking or getting scratched.
Ringke Fusion for all my devices. Best protection, small footprint. Never looked back.

interesting
Redneck Tetron. Dual layer protection and stand. I'm very satisfied.
I'm simply using a TPU cover bought for 5 euro and saved my phone already 3 times. It's perfectly fitting the size and doesn't add extra weight or size to the phone itself.
I'm using it combined with a tempered glass.

ALL users of z5 tried few china tpu cases, but that one is awesome, I recommend 100%, phone looks elegant and like without case ( with dark version). Moreover, it's matt and really nice in touch :good::good::good: youtube.com/ watch?v=GtxgfKDej-E im not a producer, just happy user
I agree, I'd use the phone naked but its too slippary. All I really want is a bumper but no one has any.
Therefore, I just got a black TPU case and cut out the back to make it into a bumper. The cut could have been cleaner but its been working for me.

Otterbox Defender Pro For Note 9

I was going to get the clear view case from Samsung but Best Buy didn't have any when i picked up my phone but they had the Defender Pro so i got it instead. It's pretty nice i do prefer the screenless Otterbox cases so its nice there is no plastic over it! Don't know why they brand it a Pro case it's the same as any other Defender 2 layers and comes with a holster.
I made a video of it if anyone wants to see how it looks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cLkiLP4FZ0

You said in the video that the box says that the exterior protect from germs? That's new. I wonder how exactly does a piece of rubber could do that?

It's got a antimicrobial coating on it i guess. I was looking on Otterbox.com and they aren't branded Defender Pro on there it just says Defender and they don't have the same back with the bars its just the standard back. So idk if the "pro" is a Best Buy thing or what
My local AT&T Corporate store had 10 Samsung Clear View cases on the shelf. I think it was $40.

Firstly great video, thanks.
Secondly, I never trusted cases with hard inner shells. A bit of sand or dirt will run riot on the glass back or frame edges of the device.

Buying a case from Best Buy is crazy. That should NEVER be an option. Their prices are high as isht! I saw a basic clear rubber/plastic cover on their website for $44.95. Many of their cases are the same ones sold by chinese manufacturers. They're just rebranded.

Good video. Here we are 2 years later; I just purchased this case for $17 from an ebay seller (still in its box w/ clip) for a Note 9 N9600 (International Unlocked) I bought a month ago (512gb version brand new in box still for under $500). Both the phone and case are great. The hard inner shell's inner back is cushioned w/ what amounts to a "mini-mattress." The case feels good in the hand. Only drawback is one can't see the phone's elegance... but for someone as paranoid as I am about a glass phone, that's a small loss. The screen isn't super well protected if dropped on an uneven surface where a rock sticking up or whatever could strike the screen in spite of the ridges at the case's ends. But I'm willing to risk that much; the rest of the case is great, and most surfaces I encounter are floor-like w/o rocks/uneven surfaces and the case would more than suffice.
For the Note 9 Screen check out the LOCA glue tempered glass option. It's about the clearest and best straight forward screen protector you can get for curved displays. I think it may not work with the otterbox due to the extra size protecting the curve. Personally I would stick the LOCA tempered glass on and then stick another thick flat tempered glass on top of that. It's virtually guaranteed people will crack these curved screens, and very expensive to repair them!
Does Qi Charging and NFC work with the Otterbox case on?

Sometimes, I've noticed only the magnetic ones work
Thanks. The NFC not working would be the bigger problem. I don't want to try and get my note 9 out the otterbox each time at the till.

Okay folks - got the Otterbox defender today and can confirm it seems to work fine with NFC (Samsung Pay/Google pay) at local supermarket till. Also can use a wireless charger on it - but have to place the charger carefully in one spot nearly over the back cameras to work, so barely worth the effort. I can see why people rave about the case - its got a lovely grippy outer TPU skin and the screen is well protected by top and bottom lip projections . Buttons work great and ports are well protected. Makes the phone bigger but I find it easier to grip and use. I can absolutely believe it will survive any fall. This is well armored. Needs a Film protector for the screen though, I want it so keys and change will not hurt it. I fear a glass protector won't work, because its so tight and secure.
Previous phone was a Samsung Galaxy S7 in a clear TPU case. I dropped it by accident 1 & 1/2 feet off a coffee table and smugly thought 'Thank god I have it in a case not like those other idiots!'. I then picked it up and found it had hit a corner and the display had cracked a tiny bit and went permanently dark. Could not believe the phone screen was broken due to the tiny drop and being in a case.
Corner protection is essential. The Note 9 is massively protected in this. I doubt a 10 foot drop would hurt it! Well pleased with it! Even have the belt carry unit with it but doubt I will be using that. The case on its own doesn't add too much bulk and can still slip it into front trouser pocket. Being slightly heavier gives it inertia so it also hard to drop. Recommend.
A year later and this still is a great case for the Note 9.
Simply buy a cheap Loca Note 9 'tempered' glass screen protector, make sure its as perfectly positioned before exposing to UV, and the otterbox case CAN fit around it.
I have tried 2 screen protectors so far - the first piece of tempered glass was not positioned properly, I UV set it (with the sun outside) and a bit of the glass cracked off along the edges when the case was fitted (not the screen just the tempered glass protector) but it was still fine for use for months.
Because the glass protector was not positioned properly over the front camera, it didn't give me a great selfie, so I bought another loca temperted glass protector and peeled the old one off.
This time I fitted it perfectly. TOTAL PROTECTION. It's great! NFC works fine, Samsung pay, NFC tags etc....
