[Q] Is it neccessary or possible to downgrade. - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hello,
I want to go back to ICS preferably the 2.20 version on my One XL I am on 3.18 unlocked and s-off is it possible to do this without bricking? If yes than how so? I am pretty competent and confident in my adb and fastboot abilities so this is not an issue however this is my daily use phone and I have no backup device so I really cant afford a brick. (Or else I wouldn't be asking I would find out myself lol) Thanks in advance.

yes, download and run the 2.20 RUU. It's safe as you're S-OFF.

possibly flashing a modifed HBOOT?

It seems like a lot of the issues that come up deal with the hboot is there a way to flash a hboot after its modified? Of completely format a phone and have it rebuild from a older image/RUU?

Going Stock Question?

I read other threads and they all were old, my version.
C:\fastboot>fastboot getvar version-main
version-main: 1.73.502.1
Am I able to Go back to stock?
I lost the recovery and nandroid backup somehow...
Thanks!
Just run the 1.73 RUU.
Relock the bootloader, if its unlocked.
It won't be completely stock, hboot will say RELOCKED, not LOCKED.

Make sure you have HTC sync open and running while you're running the RUU especially if you're running through ARU
Not doing that gave me some weird problems
Be thankful you're on 1.72 I'm on 1.94 and they haven't released an odexed ruu yet

At&T
Sorry for late Reply, at work all night.
2.23 was the base used for CleanROM 4.5, I'm pretty sure. So it somewhat makes sense that the version check is saying 2.23. Although SuperCID should override version check (and let you run an older RUU). And why fastboot is saying 1.73, I have no idea.
My idea would be to flash a stock rooted 1.73, which in theory should allow you to run the 1.73 RUU (pass the version check). Unfortunately, I don't think a stock rooted 1.73 ROM was ever posted. But 1.85 was here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674080
My idea would be to flash that, then run the 1.85 RUU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1670238
Now its just an idea. I don't know enough to say if that will resolve your issue, or harm anything. But it shouldn't.
Also make sure you relock your bootloader if you haven't done that before running an RUU. It won't work otherwise.

Oh yeah, that's an obvious one I forgot about. RUU will not run if the bootloader is unlocked, it needs to be relocked.
Thanks for your help guys I will give it a go this week when I get some free time!

AAHK is retired. Root by unlocking the boot loader, flashing a recovery from fast boot, and flashing su or a rooted ROM from there.

Then what "hack kit" is it that you are running and that is updating the radio? And you can't have both S-Off and an unlocked bootloader.

According to its filename, that's an old AAHK. It's unsupported and the files it needs have been taken down.

There isn't one. You can only unlock the bootloader. There are people who say you can use AAHK with the right RUU for your phone, and there's a manual method. But both are unsupported.

HTC One X relocked security warning and now won't do anything but boot into bootloade

Hello
I have a AT&T HTC One X, and i have tried to relock the bootloader and unroot the phone. I have only relocked the bootloader. It had the stock rom in it. Now, whenever I try doing anything to the phone, it goes back into bootloader. I tried going into recovery but no luck. Need help.

HBOOT 2.14.000. S-OFF, and I'm new to this, so I don't know
You have a custom recovery on it, I assume? Once you relock, you have to run a RUU or unlock. It won't boot up on a custom recovery after you relock.
basically, just ruu. youll be stock while retaining s-off.

Wait, no. If you're s-off, that shouldn't happen. You can boot on whatever when you're s-off. But running a RUU will get you back to stock regardless.
Edit: That explains it. When you're s-on, you have to RUU after relocking.

Alright. Please guide me on what to do.
Check your CID first. Running a jelly bean RUU with SuperCID (11111111) will brick your phone.

after bootloader unlock. the first thing is to flash custom recovery twrp 2.3.3.1 or under or official cwm
if youre not s-off you need to extract the boot.img from whatever rom youre flashing and then flash it using fastboot. (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
once you s-off this step is no longer needed.
