[Q] [REQ] ME865 ICS system & boot.img dump - Motorola Atrix 2

If someone have China A2 ME865 ICS with rooted, stock & odexed rom (with no blotware removed) can share nandroid with me? Todo that root your device, install BMM from playstore, reboot to BMM, make system-only backup & then go to firmware flashing and use backup boot.img to backup kernel.

[Q] Backup kernel

Hi all,
On the forums I found a zip which lets you flash a kernel with which I can overclock my device. But what when I want to flash my old kernel back. I could go make a backup and restore that one. But say I use this overlock-kernel for a month, next I don't want to use it anymore and I want to go back to my CM9 ICS 4.0.3's original kernel again. Then I don't want to lose all my apps and other data by flashing the CM9 ROM again or restoring a backup, see?
Titanium backup has not proven to be the best backup system there is, you allways lose apps after restoring and so. So my question is, can you make an .img of your current kernel or anything like that?
Furthermore, the CM9 zip contains two maps and a file:
- system
- META-INF
- boot.img
Is it just a matter of putting one of those in a zip and flash that to your device.
Clearly I do not understand how to backup your kernel and flash it back later. Please advise me on this!
Boot partition contains compressed kernel image (zImage) and ramdisk so yes, you can backup only kernel, 4EXT Recovery Touch allows to backup and restore selected partitions.

Complete backup question

I have an almost stock skyrocket that is rooted. I also have the paid version of titanium backup on it, but i'm not really sure how to use most of it except to backup and freeze apps. I want to flash a few ice cream roms, but I was wondering if anyone could coach me or point me to a page on how to completely backup and restore my device in case I need or want to return it back to stock. Thanks for any help.

Go into clockworkmod and choose backup and restore. Backup. You will have a full backup of your apps and your stock rom. If you ever need to revert, go back into clockworkmod, do a superwipe, and then restore the backup.

First get rom manager, then i believe through rom manager you can install clockworkmods touch recovery. Then boot to recovery and make a nandroid backup, which I think is the best way to do a full backup of your phone.
Titanium backup is great but you may find when doing batch backups of apps that you'll run into errors when switching between different roms.
I find using titanium to backup my app data only and just reinstalling apps from the play store (just go down the my apps list to reinstall your apps) to be the best way to avoid force closes. Then you can just restore your app data in titanium.
(do a search for more details on clockworkmod)
Nandroid backups done with CWM do not back up the radio IIRC. If you want to be able to return to your current ROM I suggest:
1. Make sure you know how to install the stock ROM you are currently running with Odin.
2. Make sure you have the stock rom files you need to do step 1.
3. Backup your current setup with CWM.
Try ICS as much as you like.
If you want to revert then Odin the stock rom you are using now, Odin CWM, boot into recovery and restore the backup you made. This will make sure everything is back to what you have now.
I've only used Titanium Backup to restore Nova Launcher after flashing a new ROM (Play Store downloads all the apps) and restoring Nova Launcher neatly flings all those apps back into the proper folders.
I can't comment on TiBu, but using when using nandroid via CWM as suggested it helps to have separate backups of call logs, contacts and messaging to restore.

Karbonn A21 - Everything About Root & Recovery

Hello frdz
First Step to get full access of your phone is "Root".Why??
1.) To remove unwanted pre installed apps.
2.) To increase your System Space & free up some Ram.
3.) To move all your apps to SD.
4.) To install CWM Recovery.
5.) With CWM recovery You can install(flash) Different Roms and backup Your Stock Rom.
So here is the app to root your phone without PC.

After rooting The first App you should install is Titanium Backup Pro.
Before Uninstalling Any System app you should make a backup for it in Titanium Backup Pro.
In case if you remove a very important app of Android Os u can restore it suddenly with this app.
2nd Most Important App For Rooted Devices is CWM Recovery.
To download it go to this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440320
Aldo read carefully in first thread how to install it.
After Installing CWM zip file...you should backup your stock rom first.
If ur phone got bricked u can restore it with CWM recovery any time.
I bricked my mobile with chainfire 3d app.
So suggest u all to not install this app.
And always keep a backup of your stock rom.

[Q] Modify Stock firmware through CWM backup mods

Hi, I have a GT-S7500 (wife's phone) with stock firmware and CWM. For some reason as soon as I root it, tried many different methods, camera and camcorder (and sometimes wireless) stop working. The thing is i don't really want to root this phone - but I really need to remove bloat Samsung and Italian TIM apps from it because the phone is unusable. (This means: freshly pushed stock firmware has 10-15 useless system processes and services running resulting in 70-80% of RAM usage)
So, I need to remove bloatware without rooting the phone. This is my starting point(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1534349#post23343879)
I'd like to take the "system.ext4.tar" from my CWM backup, extract, manually remove unwanted apk and odex files from it repack and push it back to the phone. Sounds fun!
Q1: "system.ext4.tar" is a normal .tar file, right? so when I'm finished i just use tar (i'm on *nix)
Q2: The above guide does not say but what is the best way to "push" the system partition back to the phone? My idea was to substitute the "system.ext4.tar" with its modded version right in the CWM backup folder (calculate and change md5 checksum in nandroid.md5) and then execute a restore from CWM. You think that would work? Is there another way to do this(ODIN)?
thanks

Android Kitchen
Ok, I found Android Kitchen(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246) and it resolved all my questions and doubts. You can take apart any rom (stock or custom) modify and repack it for CWM install. Thanx xda!
