Hey developers, Being a regular & possibly a feature greedy user many times I got this question in my mind..!!
I also found some project working on CM 10.1 but That also is abundant, m late..
So ultimately question is what is straight forward reason that can't have 4.2...??
If anyone else also have the same question then they must post in this threat,. Developers always welcomed.

We can have 4.2 on Micromax A110 but many developers have abounded this device & moved on to A116 so any further custom ROM for A110 is not possible... even i am eagerly waiting for the 4.2 update... still hope someone will give us that...

That's not true bro, many developers are still working hard to develop new versions of custom ROMs for A110, just see the A110 Android Development forum!
As for 4.2 for our device, i believe they are waiting for an official kernel update for that..

I was surprised to see 4.1 from Micromax for Canvas 2, i hope Micromax give us another surprise

The main problem is kernel.... may developers try... port... but no one can successful becoz is micromax / mediatak kernel source is not open... that is main minus point for over devices.... :banghead: if our kernel source is open.... may b it will happen on our A110 and also we can port cm base roms.....

i am also waiting for 4.2 rom
as i noticed before, mediateks ALPS environment is bound to the current hardware. they released some 2.3.x for mt6516 and 6573, ICS and jellybean 4.1 for mt6575/mt6577 (pretty much the same hardware, the SoC is pincompatible) and since the new mt6589 are out, i think there is no chance to get (an official) Jellybean 4.2 for a mt6577 based device. maybe some dev will port 4.2 to a110, but those propietary sources are also bound to a release (cannot use e.g. wlan.ko from 4.0.4 on 4.1) so even if the deivce will boot, nothing will work. before obtaining a leaked, working AOSP source, you will never see fully working jb 4.2.

Developers better know what to include and what not..I can't suggest on that but only thing i can say is that the ROM should be better on performance and battery....
And plz include one thing if u can OTA(over the air) and provide long term support
I advice just go through Lewa ROM by @mufti.arfan once and u will find ur answers....:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

If u are working for 4.2 ROM then u require to port kernel From 4.2 ROM from other device.
U can try by changing API level i.e.
One way is by compiling it from cm10.1 ROM . Other way is to try porting ROMs from canvas HD.
For 4.2 based rom , kernel modifications are required . This is possible when we have kernel source codes available for MTK6577 chipset by MMX.

We cant use other phone cuz of different chipset i.e. mt 6589
But our hopes can be fufilled by cuatom rom..also bumblebee version 3 will be running on.4.2( as they said).... well something is better than nothing

Look at the current market scenario in India even companies like karbon , celkon and lava are releasing phones under 6000 that too with android 4.2 .
I personally think if micromax needs to acquire more market share in India they should release updates for all canvas series.

But id doesnt look like android 4.2 neither it have written in about phone..
I think i have to install again coz it is same as earlier android which i got from service centre

Cellkon has released two mobile models named A112 and A107 plus both are running mt6577(not sure) but the specs are same as our beloved canvas 2 and the good thing about this is that they are releasing with android 4.2.2,so if some one provide a system dump or stock rom for both of these mobiles there is a possibility of 4.2 for our device...but since the devices are very new it masy take time..to make you guyz aware that already 2 or 3 models of cellkon have threads in xda for upgrading,rooting and stock rom,so i think the stock rom will be available soon.

1 ghz and 1.2 ghz(may be an overclocked mt6577) dual core processor
512 mb ram 4gb internal(same as our device)
8mp primary 1.3mp sec(same)
5 inches 480*854(same)
Note : i searched a lot about the chipset of the devices since devices are very new no sufficient amount of info...
Also micromax has mentioned about four devices which includes canvas 2 for their rejection of android upgrade...im happy that they mentioned our device( They did not forget like most of their devices ) they have stated that "AS FAR AS NOW" there will be no update is that means in future ??? as cellkon started its 512 mb ram phones with dual core to get 4.2 and also i hope many mobile in future with mt6577 will have 4.2 even micromax might release one.considering all these i think micromax will consider for the update soon,and with also many devs are working hard to port 4.2 for our device we may have it unofficially before all these,so lets keep supporting them.

It's not mediatek mt6577 because those phones doesn't have GPS and proximity sensors which is present in mediatek mt6577 by default..

I think till kernel sources are not available, porting 4.2.2 is hard but not impossible. Swapping ramdisk and zImage from other kernels (from phones having same specs) can make it possible but not for a sure.
haist it so hard since wifi and blutut not fucntioning and im experience freezing then several reboots
