Hi;
Good question. I was going to use the app that you mentioned but it request unnecesary permission that are not neccesary for this kind of app,
If you compare both apps, we have removed the following permissions :
* Phone calls - read phone status and identity
* Your applications information - retrieve running apps
* Your accounts - find accounts on the device
* Network communication - full network access
We decided to develop a similar app but only using the minimal required permission. We apply this minimal permission policy to all apps that we develop, for example, our game "The Great Fusion" require 0 permissions.
For me , permissions are a strong reasson to decide for an app or other.
What do you think about?
Thanks for that fast reply.

Hi I found this thread from a suggestion in the nexus 6 section.
My problem is upside down portrait. If I select forced upside down portrait it works fine but on forced auto I cannot get it to flip upside down. I have all the boxes checked to enable all ways of rotation but it won't go upside down unless I specifically choose that rotation. My goal is for the screen to flip every direction based on how I'm holding the phone. Thanks for a great app I love the lack of unnecessary permissions
Edit I'm on a nexus 6 by the way if you haven't inferred that already lol. Thank you

Hey. Sorry for the lake of replys last months. We have been working on a new app.
We find your suggestion very good and we think we can develop it eassily, we will try to update the app in the upcoming weeks. Thanks for your reports, we really appreciate it.
Btw, if any one want to try or newest app is callled "Smart Unlock" and it is used to remove lock security when connected to trusted wifis or bluetooths. I will try to open a thread on XDA soon.
Absolutely awesome
Hi there,
tested your app today and I'm totally pleased.
Realy great work guys!
In case of support questions, worked for me on:
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini (GT-8190)
Cyanogen Mod, Android 4.4.4 (credits to our Forum Member Maclaw)
(Just to make it clear: The support for the rotation of the launcher itself (and probably all the rest, too) is build in. I deactivated the inbuild option and used the app instead.)
Sony Xperia Z3 compact (D5803)
Stock with Xperia UI, Android 4.4.4
thanks a bunch !
App is great As mentionned before, it's a little sad that reverse portrait doesn't work with "forced auto", but that's not a really big deal.
So, I can report: works good on Moto G (2014) and Android 5.0.2, and also with Google Now Launcher.
Another improvement that would be nice: hide the icon from the drawer.
Thanks again, great app <3

What is Smart Lock?
Smart Lock is a smart app that intelligently lock/unlock your smart phone without touching it.
This app runs on Android 2.1+ devices having proximity sensor.
The main objective of the app is to lock and screen off your smart phone immediately when it is not in use to save more battery.
When your phone is in your pocket or in phone cover, this app automatically locks and turn-off the phone screen to save battery. When you pull out your phone, this app automatically unlocks your phone and turn-on the phone screen to make it ready to use.
I got the idea to build this app by using BlackBerry phones. It uses sensors to turn-off screen when putting the phone in phone cover and immediately turn-on phone screen when pulling out the phone from phone cover.
Features
There are several apps of this type in market but Smart Lock has some unique features that makes it distinct from others:
* No additional permissions required.
* No need to give the app administrative privileges.
* Beautiful and simple interface.
* Very easy to use (don't need to read manual to use the app).
* Small in size.
Detailed features:

Very cool app, I have purchased the Pro version; it works great, with one (small) comment:
I don't know, how to phrase it, as I am not a programmer, but I have the feeling, that the priority of smart lock should be higher. What I mean:
Although I use it with 'show notifications' on (which should mean as I recall that the service stays active), after running a few apps (I have about 60 installed) smart lock stops; meaning: after taking the phone out of my pocket screen does not turn on -I assume (maybe I am wrong), that due to lower priority of smart lock app, which gets stopped when more apps loaded/ memory used?
Anybody else experiencing this issue; any ideas how to solve it?
Otherwise great app, 95% of the time works just as described, very easy to get used to!

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of baby friendly contents on web, app, YouTube, and other video source. The app allows you to open any of those contents for your baby and protect your phone from being destroyed by baby random clicking.
*******************************************************************************************************************
Features:
★ Block touch on any apps, including YouTube and browsers (video playing without problem. I haven't find any app that doesn't work with this app yet)
★ Block home, back button, recent-app button, and menu button
★ Lock volume
★ Easy unblocking with options
★ Even works on lockscreen to prevent calling to 911
★ Option to "Keep screen on" while blocking
★ Option to "Lock orientation" while blocking
★ Super simple start. Only need 20 seconds to fully understand how it works
★ Super optimized; next to zero memory and CPU usage
★ Tiny app size
★ No ads; that's right, no ads
★ No sneaky permission, only 2 basic ones
★ No data usage, it doesn't even need internet access permission
★ No sign up, no email, no phone number, and no information is saved or required
*******************************************************************************************************************
Coming Features:
★ Option to allow interaction on running app in the foreground
*******************************************************************************************************************
Limitation:
This app does not provide baby content at this moment.
There are a few reasons:
1. ) I am not an expert at determining what content is the best for babies; I only want to provide what I believe is the best.
2. ) There are so many baby content available everywhere already.
Other notes:
This app does not block power button.
Volume lock is to revert volume changes.
If somehow you can't unblock after start blocking, you can press and hold power button to restart phone and that will fix it.
I have tested this app on as many phones and apps that I can, but if you do find an app or a phone that this is not compatible with, please email me the phone model, android version and the app link, so I can test it and fix it.

New confirmation mechanism - You can now confirm with a thumb while holding the phone with one hand. For tablet, you don't have to drag the confirmation bar all the way to the top.

Thanks for your interest.
Regarding auto engage, is it that really useful? Currently it doesn't have that feature, because it only takes 1 swipe from the notification and 1 tap to activate.
Regarding auto startup on boot, it might be a bit too dangerous. For example, if you somehow can't not unblock it (For example, someone sets it to 10 taps/sec to unblock), then your last way to get pass it is to do hard reset which is holding power for 10 seconds.
But auto start up the notification is possible. I might add that in, just don't want to pollute the UI with 20 options that general moms don't know how to operate. I might add in an advanced option category in near future.
Thanks.

Sorry for using this thread for this, but I don't think so. I have an app for children on my tablet with pictures and spoken names off different animals. My nearly 2 year old daughter loves it, and actually she can name most of the animals clearly and instantly. I think the point is what kind of content you show to little kids and how long you let them play with it.

Confirms partly what I said, content and duration must be under parental guidance. But I think even kids under age 2 can learn from both: people AND media. And now let's stop hijacking the thread.
Update 4/30:
New confirmation mechanism - You can now confirm with a thumb while holding the phone with one hand. For tablet, you don't have to drag the confirmation bar all the way to the top.
Block Indicator - Now it shows blue dot when blocking and being tapped. This helps user to know the blocking is active. Especially useful when it's in lockscreen and user forgot blocking is active.
There is a bug currently when unblocking if Unblock confirmation is not set. A new update will be released to fix that later today. Please enable unblock confirmation before using it for now.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Fixed

Hi!
Is it possible to have the app lock input for 0.5-1second after turning the screen on? I have a bug on my N5 that causes shadow presses when the screen is unlocked. Setting a lock pattern solves this on one side but when the light sensor turns on/off screen during a call it still causes erratic behavior.
Thanks.

Also, is it possible to have it startup automatically on device boot so that it is running and active by "default"?

Thanks, is there any more details you can give or perhaps a guide which gives more details as to how to use those things listed in help with gasket? I've never really used it before. Thanks

[App] [Alpha] QuickCamera | Moto X-like camera launch gesture

What is QuickCamera?
QuickCamera is a free and open source application that lets you quickly launch the camera app (normally or from the lock screen) with a simple gesture that involves twisting your wrist twice, quickly. It's the same gesture that's used to launch the camera app on the Moto X. Pull out your phone, perform the gesture and the camera app will be ready to take wonderful photos. No need to wake the phone or press any buttons.
Why did I make this?
I am a big fan of Moto X's gesture controls and I really liked the gesture to launch the camera from anywhere, by twisting your wrist quickly 2 times. It's really handy, but unfortunately not available to other devices, so I decided to replicate the feature and bring it to all Android devices. It involved weeks of experimentation, but I finally have a working alpha version ready.

Changelog:
Alpha 10 - May 2nd 2014
Night mode: Automatically disable gesture recognition when you go to sleep and automatically enable it when you wake up. To set the wake-up and sleep time, enable Night Mode in Settings and set the wake-up and sleep timings. This saves battery life substantially.
Inbuilt QuickCapture camera app: Not available for testing right now but will be soon
Optimizations to code and some bug fixes
Improvements to Gesture Calibration: Added a help button
Alpha 9 - April 30th 2014
Option to enable/disable gesture recognition only when the screen is off
Ability to save calibration settings without trying them
Fixed bugs in Settings
Alpha 8 - April 30th 2014
Improvements to accuracy and sensitivity; completely switched to rotation vector now
Gesture Calibration option added: You can now adjust the sensitivity/accuracy values and try them out to see which combination works the best for you. Once you're satisfied, you can save the values and the service will start using them
Added an option to let you control whether the service should automatically start after rebooting or not
Older alpha version changelogs
Alpha 7 - April 30th 2014
Switched to rotation vector by default, accuracy and sensitivity highly improved and chances of accidental launches significantly reduced
Added an option to change vibration intensity in Settings
Bugfix: Camera launch due to vibration on notifications like messages, etc
Alpha 6 - April 29th 2014
Improved sensitivity: Gesture will now activate ONLY if you twist your wrist 2 times within 2 seconds, else the gesture will not be recognized. It should fix most of the accidental launch issues everyone was having!
Slightly improved battery usage
Gesture detection now pauses when when a call comes and resumes when the call ends
Alpha 5 - April 28th 2014
Lockscreen and screen off support (Requires Google Camera on some devices)
Bugfix: Performing gesture on lockscreen disables security
Alpha 4 - April 28th 2014
Reduced battery consumption when the phone is in your pocket (Make sure you enable proximity sensor in Settings)
Improved accuracy/sensitivity
Bugfix: Camera launched in pocket even when proximity sensor was turned on in Settings
Bugfix: Pressing the back button did not put the application in background
Bugfix: If camera app was already in background and gesture was performed, the camera app will open but throw an error.
Prevent accidental camera launch while the user is in a call
Alpha 3 - April 27th 2014
Vibration on camera launch
Service auto-starts on device startup
Tutorial when you launch the app for the first time

Forgot to add it to OP, thanks
Alpha 2 has been pushed, will go live in few hours and you will receive an update via Play Store. I have attached the APK in OP also. Oh, and I forgot to mention: You can access the debugging settings by pressing volume down button 3 times in the app.
Awesome, it is! :good: :good: :good:
Well, you have given the source, but I,m still asking, can i implement it in my ROM as an inbuilt feature?

You can do anything you like, as long as you follow the license (GPL v2)
Wow... Great stuff.. I mean.. Really great!!! Neo V running 4.4 works flawlessly.. Only one thing. I cant seem to find any settings. I'd like to change the time between the twists because IMO its too long.. (Even after 5-6 seconds it would activate.)

Open the app, press volume down button 3 times, the debug settings will open. You cannot change the time between twists, but you can tweak one value which affects the twists in a certain way (X-axis threshold).
Is it possible to add the vibration that the Moto X does when the camera opens?

Works on the note 3 but it seems to have trouble bypassing the lock screen and seems too sensitive. I assume changing the axis threshold would help with that?

Yes, try experimenting with values from 0 to 10. 5 works for me on my HTC One.
Thank you for this app.
I could not get it to work on my rooted Note 2 running Kitkat 4.4.2 (IOAP ROM) w/AGNI kernel
I tried to change axis threshold values between 0 to 10 and none worked.
Also, how do you exit the app after turning it on ? I have to use the home button to get out.

Please send logcat, without it I cannot identify what went wrong on your device. Also, are you performing the gesture properly?
You can close it from multitasking menu.

@thahim, the purpose of my Application is, that it helps you to use your Smartphone faster by using a service which sets the screen brightness oft your Smartphone to a user choosen minimum and if you Smartphone is in use like in your hand , then the service sets the screen brightness of your Smartphone to a user choosen maximum.
I hope it's clear now, if not you could ASK again
