You have to go back to rooted stock first. Then after first reboot you can flash the old back up.

Partitions are different and that is why you need to go back to stock. Odin and Heimdall reformat the partition. Then as Truckerglenn said, reboot and then you should be able to use the backup.

A. If you asked this in 20 different threads you are trolling!
B. More importantly, if you asked this in 20 different thread in 26 minutes..you damn sure can type fast!
C. In my experience, Nandroids do not include the modem / radio. Flash the radio you want first (to be on the safe side) and then flash the nandroid.
Didn't ask all in one day I hear new modem sucks data loss any thoughts

Yep, the L5 modem is not good for happiness.
Best to flash UCALC3.
Lot easier if flash back a good GB ROM that has RADIO AND KERNEL then you can just nandroid back to your favorite settings.
My 2 cents.

No nv_data.bin

My phone was stuck on searching for 3 weeks, after five resets I upgraded to CM7 then GummyMutt ICS, still did not work so I ualsed one click heimdall back to 2.3.6 GB, I checked phone stats and it said IMEI unknown so I rooted and upgraded to TeamAcid CM9 and still nothing can someone help me because all I can do is use Wi-Fi I'm willing to put up screenies on request but please help

If you lost your IMEI on stock GB and do not have a backup - you have a problem. If you made a nandroid backup when your IMEI was good - you are good. If you flashed one of the newer GB custom ROM's that used the Aroma Installer - you might have a back up.

Can you provide a little more information? Did you do anything before your phone lost its IMEI number (e.g., upgrade from Froyo to GB using Kies Mini)? That will help the people here hopefully help you.

Then take it to T-Mobile. Flash bhundven's KJ6 stock one-click in the second link of my signature before you take it in so you will be unrooted and on complete stock.

Nvm went with the Deoxed RomsWell 1.1
CM sucks on the Tab2 atm imo
To get back to stock, you would have had to make a nandroid backup.
Then you'd boot into CWM and go to backup & restore and restore.

How to make a backup can easily be found in the stickies found in the general forums. Use your recovery that you use to flash the custom rom to make the backup.
And no you cannot restore a backup of a s2 onto an s3, maybe the data, but definitely not the system or boot. You'll have a brick if you do

thx
First off, do you understand what searching is?? Second, back up with recovery or use titanium backup if you wanna backup your apps then move that file to your s3 to restore the apps. Third, why the hell would you get an s3 when the s4 is being released in about 2 weeks.

He's right about searching, there are stickies in both the general and q&a section that answer these questions.
No u can't migrate a skyrocket backup to an s3, you'd brick it. U can however use titanium backup or ROM toolbox, back up your apps to an external SD and restore them on the nre phone from the SD.
S4 IS NOT being released in 2 weeks, its being UNVEILED in two weeks in New York. Distribution to carriers will probably be a bit longer

Flashing from ics back to gingerbread in cwm

I am trying to revert from an ics rom to a gingerbread rom via cwm. Is there anything special I have to do?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Assuming your cwm is up to date just wipe cache and system then flash. But ALWAYS remember to make a backup first.
On a side note, ever use twrp?

Ummm, its a little more complicated than Flashing.Lol
You are reverting system files and such. Grab you a STOCK image from Sammobile than flash in Odin following the steps outlined in konanes thread in the dev section. Don't ever flash backwards between versions of android in cwm, you'll soft brick your phone. Bad advice ^^^^dude

I'm talking about going from firmware versions not ROMs. Going GB to ICS is fine. ICS to GB takes odin
Bml /mtd The partitions are changed from GB to ICS .

I've never had a problem going from jb to ics. But I've never flashed back to gb
