hey guys, I know this is a known issue, but I can't take it anymore, I literally can't use 3g, because the voice button activates itself all the time, I'm using it, I don't know if I should send it, to warranty, because this is clearly a bug... I need some advice please.
BTW my nexus s is rooted, I've tried also all the roms available and still got the same issue. help
Have you flashed a different radio? It is a known issue with the 9020A.

- adb push iPad2post.apk to /forum/thread
gonna try that see whats up thanks.
Been waiting months for a fix. KB3 modem is the best in regards to minimizing the problem. Also, cyanogen nightly (7.1) has the option to map the short and long press of the search to "nothing".
There is also a paid app, i think it's called "search nothingness" or something along those lines that can remap the search to nothing.
personally with KB3, i rarely get the issue, usually only during GPS navigation. At home and at work, i have wifi, so 90% of the time, it's a non-issue.

It wouldn't be Android if it didn't have bugs. I'm just glad they're getting it fixed.

I hope this also fixes my issue with Home and Back buttons getting stuck in "long press."
Yea what a joke. I updated the radio to "fix" my search button issue. Oh it fixes it but also brings capped data speeds and no modifying the ro.ril aka build.prop doesn't help. So sacrifice speed for annoyance depletion or keep the raw dog and risk throwing you're phone out the window at 70 on the interstate!!!! Lol it fixes it. No we just have to fix the data caps again.

I flashed my SNS with 2.3.6 and I'll still have this happen when I'm using my phone in low reception areas.. :/

I understand the update has been pulled because it caused more problems then it fixed. A new update ifs reported to be released in the next two Weeks, though that is not 100% confirmed.

Its not a huge problem for me. I get great reception almost everywhere I go except for some basements and at work.
I can't take calls while at work so its not a problem.

I had the bug, installed 2.3.6 and it's gone. No more random firing of the search button. My only new bug is that my gmail application Outbox count won't work properly. Even when it's empty it shows a number.
If I reset the application and clear it's data it starts up again with the issue.

Hey guys I didn't want to start another thread so I'm continuing this post.
I'm still noticing the search button bug (Firing randomly) in low reception areas.
Currently I'm running the ICS OTA 4.0.3 with UCKF1 radio on the i9020a.
Is anyone else still seeing this bug from time to time? Did anyone find a way to fix completely? If so please share you solution, if not share your stories. Thanks guys.
I have the i9020a and mine had the annoying bug as well except it was the home button firing with recent apps coming up all the time. I have updated to 4.0.3 from the t-mobile version and flashed the ucke1 radio and have not hae the problem since. In fact I have not run into any problems yet.

Hmm OK ill try that radio, right now I'm reflashed kb3 and I'm going to see if that makes a difference.

Hey there. I had the problem with my nexus s in low signal areas too. Try using the phone info code, *#*#4636#*#*, go to phone, use the menu to reselect the radio bands.

If you get the search bug with 2.3.6, send your phone in to get the screen replaced. Also keep in mind that the current ota of ics is NOT for the i9020a

Get the screen replaced? How does the screen affect this bug from what I've read its a software bug.

Can someone please advise how to make my pics I receive via text to not run as a 5 second video? I'm not sure what I did but I'm certain it didn't do this initially.

Are you using stock messaging app or something else? Which ROM?
my mms have been doing this since android 1.1
yeah.
This is how the GSM network sends Android MMS'. If you find a friend with a Sprint or Verizon CDMA Android device, you'll see it just sends as a photo. Crazy, huh?
Actually I believe this is how Samsung devices handle it. Although I can speak for cdma devices, I know my atrix and nexus one didn't do this. Its just houw the stock app works. If you use a different app like go SMS the problem is gone.
I like the landscape view in the stock app which is why I didn't make the switch myself.

Yes I'm using the stock ROM and the original mms app. I guess perhaps it did this since day one but I'm realizing it now lol. Appreciate your responses and I may try a different mms app.

I hope I am on the correct place for this question but when I had xda premium it always showed pics that were posted within the thread, yet now that I have tapatalk premium it does not automatically download the picture. Is this an ics issue? I have an epic 4g and am running cm9 since its release.
Just a fairly annoying effect. Hoping maybe someone can help me out and get these things to download/show like my xda premium did.
Same problem here. Although I don't know is it because of my slow internet. I'm using Gingerbread.
On 15mbps wifi it does the same thing. I was thinking it was an ics issue. I really hope they fix this.
I've been using existz's ICS ROM and in his thread people have complained about not getting MMS pictures. I have problems with it, but after a good bit, it finally downloads.
Anyone else having this problem?

Have you bothered to follow existz's instructions for when you have an issue? Apparently not.
He has stated several several times to check the issue tracker he has on his download page (go re read the op of his rom thread for link). If you have and issue report it there. He can't do anything to help by posting here.
"I am the Bacon Pope"
Also, try the messaging app called Handcent. I use that app over stock messaging on every from even currently using it on existz's rom right now and it works fine.

Tbh, I don't know what they're talking about half the time in that thread, so if I tried anything they're saying, I'd wind up with a bricked phone.
I have used handcent in the past, didn't end well. The app kept FC and so I just use the default, but that was pre-root, so I might try it again.

Then do some research before you end up with a brick that you can't fix or return.

Hey guys! Haven't visited this place in a while but good to see it's not dead!
Well to get to the point, I've been having a huge problem with receiving text messages. It seems I only receive half of all messages that come in. The only clue I have is that when a message does come in, my phone is awake and I'm on it. Any help would be great, thanks!

Hmm how long ago did you RUU? I had this issue on kickdroid and Beanstalk a few months ago and a fresh RUU solved it for me
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk
I've had a similar issue and I think I traced it to MightyText (which seemed ot be occasionally intercepting my texts but then losing htem somehow, most notably on MMS messages). So IF you have / use that app / service you might want to just try out disabling it and see if it helps.
