any radio's? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can any radio's be updated with any Rom?
I'm currently using paranoid android 3.56 on my i815 and I'm having connection issues and wondering if I can use any i815 radio or if they have to be designed for the Rom. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

any information?
Been doing more research and found on this forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1932597
The baseband version I have now is i815.04 v.FD01 / I815 FD01
Is the version i815.04 V.LP10 / I815 lP10 newer then the version I have? Also the forum said the zip could be flashed without stock recovery. Also they have a LP11 in tar format but not zip. So my questions...
It's the lp10 newer? And will this help 3g/4g connectivity and signal strength?
Can baseband be flashed with a zip without stock recovery? (It says as of 10/16 you don't need stock e3 recovery)
Can the lp11 modem tar be put into the lp10 zip and flashed that way?
Amy and skill help will be greatly appreciated.

Lp10 is newer than what you have and LP11 is the newest. I don't know if updating your radio will be a problem with your ROM, but there are instructions fo LP11 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.PHP?t=2111799. In the original post there is a link to the LP10 instructions where you can find a link foe Odin, which you use to install the tar file from your computer.
Best of luck.

So can baseband be flashed with Odin without the stock e3 recovery?
Just flash modem.tar in the phone section of Odin in the download mode of the tablet?

I'll admit I've never heard of stock recovery referred to as e3 before. I did my last radio flash with CWM installed, not stock.

To flash a modem:
1. ODIN (check "phone") - .tar
2. CWM - CWM flashable zip
3. Mobile ODIN app - modem.bin or (I think .tar)
4. ADB commands

I appreciate all the help and the flash went fine but my last question is why has only half of my baseband changed? And does this affect 4g coverage or connectivity?

No idea about the naming, but if it's changed, it has flashed correctly.
You'll just have to test connectivity, speed, signal strength and band switching etc for yourself against what version you had before.
Best to test any speed test at a quiet time (so you're not measuring network capacity), from exactly same location, (place phone in same spot), same time, and also check the signal strength by -dBm loss (lower is better, ie -65 is better than -95). Settings/about device/status...

[Q] need help flashing radio

I am using [ROM] MHX-SUPERLITE-3.0 Stable
I am trying to flash my radio from UCLA3 to T-mobile SGH-T989 VK1.
This is the steps I took to flash my radio.
Download Modem & Reboot to Recovery
Wipe cache partition & Wipe dalvik cache
Install and Reboot
But my phone still shows I am using baseband UCLA3 after flashing it.
Can someone help me figure what i screwed up on?
Try flashing a rom thats not ucla3 based, then change modem.

I've seen several threads now where people claim to not be able to flash away fro the UCLA3 radio (flash a different radio after they have flashed the UCLA3).
I am wondering if there just a lot of people not doing it correctly, or if the UCLA3 radio is really that difficult to flash away from? I'm not going to try it because, so far, I am ok with the results of the UCLA3 radio. Perhaps it is like the UCLA3 kernels and only gives some people a problem? Has anyone successfully flashed away from the UCLA3 radio, and if so, how did you do it (just a radio flash or an entire clean radio, Rom, and kernel flash)?
you gotta be kidding me... i feel like i am using a iphone again..
I had to flash a non ucla3 rom to get my baseband to change. Not that it really matters to me. Ucla3 modem is kick ass:thumbup:

I agree, UCLA3 modem is an improvement, but I wonder if it will stop an OTA update if everything is back to stock except the modem (baseband)? A pre-UCLA3 ROM (and maybe Kernel) with the UCLA3 modem.

Maybe you should ask mhx to build a rom without the radio included (if possible)

pretty sure the MHX-SUPERLITE 3.0 is just rom/kernel... and you flash modem separately.

This, is correct
So then flash the baseband you want on a non ucla3 rom. Then flash the ucla3 based rom and the baseband should stick.

AT&T data

Hello there,
Just got a used samsung skyrocket with At&t and upgraded to the 4.0.4 android version.
My problem is that I have no data and wifi will not work. I tried changing the APN settings which would get my data to work but still no Wifi or mms. Any suggestions of how I can fix this? Thank you.
Need more info:
1. Are you on stock or rooted?
A. If rooted, what rom?
2. What radio do you have installed?
It sounds like your radio didn't flash correctly. You can either ODIN to a stock 4.0.4 or just flash a ROM thru CWM Touch.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Try going to the Sky ICS thread in the development forum, grab one of the radios from there, and flash through CWM or TWRP. If it's a bad radio flash, that will fix it.

[Q] Compatible Rom(s) for Virgin Mobile USA Galaxy S2

Who has the VM USA Galaxy S2 variant, what did you flash and are currently running? I am curious to know what others use as daily drivers, what has worked for them, and how they went about obtaining it.
I have looked around but to no avail in the last few months have I seen a huge dev support for SPH-D710VMUB. I have successfully updated my phone to sxtp GB28 Rom w/ root and MidnightRom but have not tried CM10.1 because of rom issues and flashing confusion.
I have recently flashed CarbonRom (LOVE IT) because it was listed in MidnightRoms goomanager app under "other compatible roms". At the time I did not know it was strictly for Sprint but it took okay. Everything seems to work flawlessly except data of course (no 3G/4G therefore no MMS, GPS, etc.) I have looked at APN apps (have a thread made for that), but no luck on getting any of it to work.
Check out my thread on CarbonRom. I'm thinking of close it down since I have this one up now. It has images and links however.

Please, VM users/devs, use this thread to openly discuss and share anything pertaining to this device.
Another one
Found another awesome rom called ReVolt:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=22
Check it out. Probably need to flash a Sprint ICS or older modem to get data to work on Virgin Mobile.
Btw, I did get data working by flashing a Sprint ICS/GB modem. Check out my thread on that.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314896
I'd like to introduce another awesome ROM called Domination. Go check it out for the E4GT.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273050
Note that these are ROMs that I have tested. There could be more out there!

If you want to recover your touchwiz nandroid coming from a CM10 based ROM or clockwork mod recovery, you will need to restore first time using CWM then when your new ROM and recovery are flashed, boot up system then go back into recovery (which should now be Agats) and restore the nandroid one more time doing this.
The reason being, CM10 CWM is not fully compatible with TW basedbased ROMs and so they won't fully restore your ROM. I figured this out myself.

It's a little complicated than that. Remember, on Samsung phones, the rom and recovery are intertwined. Meaning when you flash your ROM it will have a recovery specific to that ROM. CWM/CM10 recoveries aren't fully compatible with TouchWiz Roms. You'll need an altered version of CWM/TWRP for that.
I went and flashed GB28 rooted with Agats recovery by sxtp developers. It has a full tutorial on that page. Specific to virgin mobile. You'll need to download the drivers and software and its pretty straight forward. I'll post a link.
If you want to go from there to a CM10 based ROM afterwards, I can help you.

No. Most all of the ROMs you flash will have root access in one form or another. TW will have SuperSU and CM10, SuperUser/BusyBox most likely. So don't worry about root. And when you flash a ROM, you will be flashing its new recovery also. No, it should not mess anything up if you follow the method specific to the ROM.
Sent from my VM E4GT using Tapatalk 4
Here is what I would do: Use Odin (mobile or PC) to flash a rooted version of your stock ROM. It could have a recovery to it or not. If not, then after you flash the stock ROM, flash a compatible recovery. I used Agats for TW. Once you have that, download the CM10 zip, boot into recovery. It is advised you follow their instructions however this is how I did mine. It worked for the most part.
Once you are in agats cwm recovery, wipe data/ factory reset/cache/dalvik. Don't think you need to format, but to he safe it'd be system/cache/data (check on that). Don't format internal or you will lose everything (like backups and zips among the important). You can then flash your ROM and gapps.
Reboot, will take a little while. Then go back into recovery when you can (it should be a new recovery that came with the ROM). Do all of the same methods above for a clean install of your ROM in this new recovery. Boot, and you SHOULD be set to go. Hope this helps.

You can google virgin mobile galaxy s2 gb28 recovery. It'll be on sex tapes forums. Follow their guide and they will have rooted and unrooted versions of the official jellybean release with agats. Also look for a user named TheBritton who has, literally a "noobs guide" to all ROMs/methods with links, for our phone. I'll find a link.

So you have the recovery flashed then. Which? Agats is for Touchwiz based ROMs not Cyanogenmod technically. Try my method. Go to sxtps website and look for GB28 w/Agats recovery. Flash a touchwiz ROM, like MidnightRom, then try CM10. (Or one of the better ROMs mentioned in this thread).

I just now am getting familiar with what an RUU is and from my understanding so far there's 2 types? 1. radio upgrade unit & 2. rom upgrade utility. Which is yours? I'm not really looking forward to flashing roms atm, just looking for something quick like flashing some firmware that doesn't overwrite my entire system partition 'IF' possible. If not then am I stuck with flashing what appears to be a new rom? Or do I have another option? Thanks for reply!
Edit: Also I forgot to include that I'm S-OFF with bootloader unlocked & permanent root w TWRP recovery, would this act like one of Samsungs crappy OTA's and re-lock my phone IF it was the ROM thing I mentioned above rather than just Radio Firmware?

And ruu is an ruu. It is both the stock rom and firmware included. There are reset parameters that a factory reset on stock recovery can do that twrp etc are not.
This will not affect your lock or s off status and it's pre rooted. Also, there's not really "permanent root" on any phone. More so with s off you have the ability to flash su and root.
