You would have to do some disassembly of the phone. And probably need a maxx hd back.

As far as I know, after disassembling the device myself, it does not seem to be a removable and/or swappable battery. It lacks the plastic casing on the outside (probably to save weight) so therefore the battery itself is quite malleable. The HDMaxx has a slightly larger rear casing which would be a total pain (few hours) to completely disassemble and swap onto an HD. You can try it, you would be the first person that would have made an attempt that I have seen, but I'm not sure it's worth the time.

There's a thread on this and it has been done before.

Biggest Battery while still using stock door??

As the title says i'm looking for the biggest battery that will fit the stock door. I know most options don't include NFC and by the looks of it who knows when we will actually be able to use it. For now i've heard that the extended nexus battery may work but no relies yet. Any help would be appriciated.
Thanks

The nexus extended will work. It may bulge a bit, though. I trimmed a tiny bit of the plastic off and it fits fine. Some work with no modification.

Battery
I just got the Nexus battery about three weeks ago. The cover is tight going on and needs to be maneuvered on properly, but for me, there is no bulge. It works great and you can tell it is a higher capacity battery just from the additional length of time it takes to recharge over the stock battery.
I am attached to a charger most of the day, but will be giving it a good, hard work out when on vacation next month.
Looks like i'm going to buying this then, thanks guys. For those of you that have bought it, what were the time differences between battery length? I'm currently on SKYICS rom and with heavy use and lot of things frozen i get to 10pm with about 10%. I'm hoping i'll have 25% with this new battery.
Also being that this is an NFC battery, would that functionality still work when its finally launched??

I have an OtterBox, currently replaced tho with a Case Mate. I also have the extended battery. I haven't even used the extended battery, however I will be this weekend. Anyways, to answer your question, I briefly popped the battery in right after I bought it. As others said, there may be a slight bulge, however i'm fairly certain a case would work just fine with it.

3500mAh Backup Pack Battery

Hi guys . What can you say this device ? Does anyone else bought ? What can I say? Is it worth taking ?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/3500mAh-Bac...438472?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item416744d508
Like how to approach a ONE X.
It can't fit both the X and XL since their dimensions are not the same.
I don't see anywhere they ask you to specify which model, which suggests to me that it's for the International version and the seller isn't aware they're not the same size.
holy cow that thing is fugly. Even the on/off switch on the bottom. I'd rather carry around a microusb power pack if I needed power that bad.

I ordered this one, should be receiving it in a week or so. Wanted it for when I travel/snowboard.
I also ordered this external battery:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054U6CEE/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
since I wanted something small to carry around in my back pocket.
Man, I really miss having removable batteries in my Evo 3D. Super small, full charge, 10 second swap.
I'll post results eventually.

I highly doubt you can replace it yourself, the back is one whole peice, I'm gonna say that your gonna have to take it to a retail store so they can replace it for you bcuz I kinda asked the same question at the store and they said to just bring in the phone and we'll replace it for you but im not too sure about that, if you don't mind taking apart your phone to replace a battery you could buy a battery from amazon or eBay and just look up how to tear down the one s but the decision is all yours, its your device.....hopefully this kinda helped you

Dont quote me on this but I've read while it's not hard to take the back out, the battery appeared to be soldered or some other way permanently attached. Not the battery itself but the wires coming from it. I heard the wires aren't just a clip connection to the board but soldered or some other way

Allow me to disagree. It appears to be a very straight forward task. You have to:
1. Remove the two plastic covers
2. Unscrew 4 screws
3. Unplug the old battery and plug in the new one
4. Screw the 4 screws, mentioned in step 2
5. Place back the plastic covers
If that sounds dangerous to you, maybe you are probably right not to do it yourself.
P.S. I do not take any responsibility whatsoever for other people's skills or lack of skills and the potential damage they may cause to their devices

Nope, we're lucky enough to get flash memory.
Dr. Rick: not yet. The UK body is not compatible with the US S. It has a different bottom. I'm waiting for the black and red US S before continuing my experiment.

Yup check the video posted in this thread by z3ra7ul, post #7 its a real nice teardown vid
You guys seem to have this pretty well covered but just thought I'd include my experience as well. A few days ago I replaced the damaged housing on my International One S because somebody was interested in buying it but then wasn't interested in my asking price because the warranty was now void..
Anyway, it was super easy. Only difference is that, while the one in the video's lower cover just pops off, mine is double-sided stickied in an elaborate pattern and was rather difficult to remove. The sticky stretches out and needs to be put back into place. It was even more difficult to get it back on properly.. but I finally got it.
But yes, The battery is easy to get at, but I don't remember seeing a connector for it (but I wasn't really looking for it specifically.. just checking things out). So I wonder if the EU version is soldered and the US version is connector?

Do you mean the used some double sided tape?
Basically you just need to pop off the top cover, then the bottom with a case opener, remove a few screws, then CAREFULLY dislodge the case from the rest of the device, be very careful here because if you use too much force the metal will bend! Then you can just use tweezers to pull the battery connector off and you can remove the battery.

(q) Maxx battery in the RAZR HD?

Has any anyone tried shoving the maxx battery (I'm assuming the eb40) into a regular RAZR HD? I currently have an Atrix HD and was considering doing the battery mod that everyone is doing but I just got a RAZR HD
Also I know some will say that if you want a maxx just buy a maxx but Rogers Canada is not carrying the maxx

David why don't you buy the battery and see how it would fit in your Razr HD? Even if it wouldn't fit you can still put it in your atrix like you wanted to.
I am very curious too for the same reason you are. Doesn't seem likely we'll get the maxx HD here in canada.

I just tried this. 2 batteries died to bring you this information:
The good news:
- Batteries are same height & width- the EB40 will fit perfectly in the slot.
- Batteries are both 3.8v & leads are in the same place.
The bad news:
- connectors are different. You will have to desolder the electronics from EV30 and attach it to the EB40.
- EB40 is *barely* too thick. As in about 1/3 of a MM. The mainboard will screw into the battery back OK, but it flexes a bit and prevents the screen from fitting back in.
Unfortunately don't see a way around the thickness issue. Maybe if you removed the NFC stuff and used a sander to grind some resin off the battery back, but that seems really chancy.

I imagine that would work, the only issue is where do you get a back cover?
Apparently MAXX HD still uses EB40 battery so you will still have to perform a cable-ectomy to get a non-maxx compatible plug on it.
I have the Razr HD and just got rid of my OG Razr Maxx. The HD beats my OG Maxx battery life any day. The HD has a pretty large battery to begin with, 2500 mA.

Great info Grant2...
So we need two things ...
1. A bit modified battery ( Not sure if that's possible.. but if somebody can do it .. a lot of people will be willing to pay the price.
2. Back Cover ( if the original doesn't fit properly.. we need Razr HD maxx backs.. and i am sure those are hard to find...)
Looks possible but needs a lot of effort and work.

1 = pretty straightforward for anyone with a soldering iron.
2 = I called motorola today and asked; their reply "we don't sell ANY parts".
probably the big issue with the back cover will be that it's so complex: the plastic chassis (the part that we need thicker) is bonded to the kevlar back and also has some electronics embedded in it. So not only do the parts have to come onto the grey market (I assume that's the only way) but someone also has to assemble them.

it's 2530mAh -> 3300mAh, so approximately 1/3 extra power.
My issue with battery right now is, like many others who upgraded to Jellybean, the battery sometimes decides to drain like crazy. Normally I expect about 0.6%/hr drain when idle, but sometimes it goes up to 3%/hr while idle.
In between that, the lack of rooting, the shortage of roms, and no support for 3-button headsets, i'm thinking of just selling it and getting an S4. Now that they have 2500mAh (the same as the non-maxx) AND you can swap it out, the MAXX battery seems less useful than before.
Yes, that darn S4 with its inevitable massive XDA and hardware support and the 40% better power efficient CPU... Built in LTE... ETC ETC. Plus you know Samsung will release a large battery option like it has for the S3 (3000 mAh).
It's a very easy sell. And they are even slightly less ugly then before as well.
So I've been thinking the same thing grant2. S4 may just be in my future.

was anyone able to convert the eb40 to the ev40?
Are the boards soldered to the battery or just snap in?
I found this picture of just one side of the flex cable but not of the other side, just curious how they connect.
I bought the Razr HD Gsm and now I just bought the Back part of the Razr HD Maxx, now I just need the battery. Eb40 is cheapest route because I cant find the ev40 except from etradesupply and I am not paying $120 for it.

*Not worth it to relace the battery unless your battery is dying. You would get about 15% increase, I guess that's a matter of personal choice.
*Never seen anyone swap the front camera, not sure if you'd run into issues.
*The glass with HTC branding on it is part of the digitizer which cannot be removed while leaving the screen in tact so you would need to buy a whole new LCD.

Depends if you think it's worth the risk. Personally I wouldn't bother unless your battery is shot pretty much.
Unless you feel really comfortable opening up this phone & working on it
& from what I've read the glass & digitizer are attached and it's super sketch to try to separate them

Are there any other mods that can be done? I don't know about you, but I'd love a larger battery in the Evita, even if it is just a "15%" increase (I'm pretty sure others have reported higher gains than that). What about antenna mods or other camera mods or anything?
I doubt it. Trying to find a camera or antenna that's compatible will be virtually impossible.

Since the battery itself only has just shy of 15% extra capacity, I don't see how much more than that can be achieved... 15% is a realistic number. Anyone reporting more than 15% increase in battery life would be embellishing or not measuring accurately. IE: You would have to measure over a certain time with the exact same usage patterns over a week or so let's say. Since that is impossible, stating an exact percentage increase is also impossible. Hence.. 15%.
Front camera should be swappable... looks like it would be anyway.

If u have the original digitizer and LCD don't even think to change it the digitizer(the glass part) it's suppose to be glue just in the corners but the factory one it's all glue toghether with the LCD if u try to separate them u will break your LCD BELIEVE ME I broke some of those ending on eBay buying new ones . The camera u can change don't know if anyone had try it but in your case I won't change it u won't tell the difference it's just .3mp just give a good clean with a swap to your actual 1.3 and u will work cristal clear. Good Luck
