I just downloaded and installed the "Sidebar" app and without knowing, it only allows you to add Apps and Specific Pre-Determined System Widgets to it. I used to have the "Swapps" app and it would allow you to add shortcuts to it, but unfortunately this Sidebar app does not allow that. I'm wanting an app that simply when pressed(run the.apk) it will simply take you to the default home screen. It doesn't have to be anything fancy at all..just something simple will work just fine. I know you're saying that I should just switch back to Swapps, but I prefer Sidebar instead.
Thanks!
I'm sorry, but I think I made this in the wrong forum. Would a mod please move this to the proper forum if it in fact is in the wrong one? Thank You!

On my last phone, an HTC, i was able to use the Apex Activities feature to create a 1x1 button that simply brought up a status post screen. It was simple and did the one thing i needed it to do. i can not longer do this. It tells me that the app isn't installed. Some of the other activities do work, just not the one i want. Facebook is installed on my phone.
i have been trying to look for an alternative to this, but i can't find anything at all. i just want a button that brings up an post update window.
EDIT: It is is called activity.composer.ComposerStatusLauncherActivity
i try to add it to my home screen but it tells me app isn't installed when i click on it.
i don't understand how there is no app that ONLY posts to facebook and nothing else.
Ok, I apologize as I know the answer is somewhere in XDA (I saw it once), but for the life of me I cannot find it via XDA's search function or google. Apparently bad search fu today.
I'm running a custom ROM that has all apps enabled for multi-window use. Which is great. But the problem is when I choose an application that is not on the first screen of apps, it will choose one from the first page instead (in I think roughly the same location of the screen). The only "work around" I've been able to deduce is on the first screen (w/o scrolling), drag the bottom right app into the multiwindow bar. Then remove it fro there. This will shift the apps up by one spot. Then repeat this until you get the app you want.
This becomes annoying when the app you want is towards the bottom of the list.
Anyone know of a better way of doing this? I recall this same issue on my S2, but perhaps I didn't have any many apps installed so it wasn't such a big deal.
Thanks
John
Not sure if it's the corrept place to ask this "strange" question please advise if I need to use a different forum. Is there a way to have a shortcut on a desktop visible even if an app has been uninstalled? Maybe some apps? I need that since I usually install/uninstall some applications and it's a tedious work to move them again and again from the app drawer to the desktop. Think it could be a widget application or some shortcut manager. Tried several of them like anycut for no avail. Thanks!
Hello,
I allready started a thread about that and I'm sorry to repost but I think in this section I might find more luck.
So my problem is, that I've a crappy china android device, on which a very poor version of Launcher3 is preinstalled. I wan't to install a different Launcher like Nova.
But the thing is as soon as you install any other Launcher, most of the Apps disappear.
All those Apps are hidden in one App called com.ts.mainui8, and the shortcuts to the individual Apps are only stored in the stock Launcher. Never shown in the app tab of settings or anything else, just custom shortcuts premade on the stock launcher.
So how do I recreate those App Shurtcuts on another Launcher? Is there any App I could install that tells me the exact path of those shortcuts on the stock Launcher and even then I still not know how to make new complete custom ones.
I am usually a Windows guy, in windows for example the explorer.exe contains many many Applications, like most settings, to create a network settings shortcut for example you have to type "C:\Windows\explorer. exe" ms-settings:network-ethernet . There must a way to do a similar thing in android, but how?
Really hope anyone could help me with that, thanks people.
OK finally found a Solution for my Problem, the App Activity Launcher allows to ceate certain shortcuts, thanks anyway
I have one app with a stoopit name that doesn't mean anything related to its' function.
It won't take to conventional rename/edit name.
It won't take to quick shortcut.
Any other ways or ideas to change it.?
It's a rooted HTC u11 with LSPosed installed running stock AOS9.
Try QuickShortcutMaker what is a simple and reliable program for quickly creating shortcuts on the home screen of your Android mobile device . In a few steps you will change not only the name of your applications on the screen, but also their icon – this is an ideal solution if you need to make some changes to your phone so that it does not look the same.

thanks. tried it. I want to change the name in the app drawer as this app is never on my home screen.
Would you like to contact the developer of the app for help about your issue?
sure. I'll give that a go. But I suspect it's an app issue of the one I want to change, coz most of the other apps I can edit the name within the AOS, in the drawer or not.
