I was just wondering - is there a way to connect USB mice/keyboards to an i-mate?
I want to use a USB keyboard as I HATE touch screen keyboards >_>
If you're referring to the mini-usb port, i've never seen it done. What you can do is get a bluetooth keyboard (quite pricy, but well worth it) and use that instead of your touch screen.
There are also infra-red ones available (I have one) though the keyboard needs to sit in the right area. I would certainly recommend a bluetooth one instead though.
Just a funny idea and just thought I would share
I would like to get a keyboard and a mouse connect to my Galaxy S and use it instead of my desktop PC just as an experiment.
So my first question is what keyboard and Mouse work?
I'm guess they would need to be a bluetooth or could I get away with a usb hub?
regards,
jippie
Logitech wireless Mouse MX620
Logitech wireless Keyboard Pro 2800
Both work perfectly using the usb lead that comes with the cell phone and the dongle that comes with the mouse and keyboard.
I bought this $20 keyboard on eBay and it is working in both webOS and Android. In webOS, the bluetooth "wizard" will display a "key" and you type that "key" on the bt keyboard and press enter. In Android settings, you first type a "key" via the Android "on screen" keyboard and touch OK, and then type the same "key" on the bt keyboard and press enter.
Most bluetooth keyboards and mice are HID compliant so they will work. The Touchpad keyboard loads a generic Microsoft HID driver when I connect it to my laptop.

That's nice to know. I sure wish somebody had assured me of that when I was searching this site for what to buy. Where were you then?

I'm with you. When I tried this forum for what keyboard, I certainly didn't get that reassurance.
Bought it, works great!
I grabbed this exact keyboard to use for longer email and work messages. It paired easily and works wonderfully. My touchpad just got more useful!
I got a different one that works pretty good as well (designed for ipad though) and it only works in the CM9 ICS bricked rom that I have installed, not on webOS or CM7. Is a very nice keyboard + case just faces the same troubles most of these cases do (not latching the separating parts together when closed) but it is very good non the less.. Your post makes it sound like you got the one I linked and you didn't. Don't know why the one you did get doesn't work with CM7 or webOS, but the one I linked does. And it cost less than $20 shipped.
Yea I rephrased my statement, not the best with words sometimes. The case and keyboard I got (mainly got because it had to withstand the kids getting it) is more expensive, but instead of starting a new thread though I would share some experiences with BT keyboard (pros and cons) instead of starting another thread about the one I got.
Yes just about any blueetooth keyboard should work. I got this a couple months ago and it works great, plus has a little joystick for a mouse, which works well in CM7 but even better in ICS.
You can use a mouse on this? Does it display on screen?

In CM7 and CM9 a standard HID bluetooth mouse will work with a cursor, the scroll wheel will also work. I'm not sure if it would work in WebOS.

Yes, there's a cursor that displays on the screen in CM7 or CM9. In webos the mouse just spits out random characters when you try and use it.

i bought this mouse off amazon....it is HID and connects to ics but wen connected i see a cursor for one split second then it disappears and the mouse will not work.if i could get a link to a proper mouse that is proven that would be most helpful. also wen i had cm7 on tp the mouse would connect cursor would show and "work" but was very flighty and unmanageable. would love to find the right mouse for tp so splashtop would be in full effect.
There is a mouse that works on Bluetooth for a laptop. Is there not a program that will allow that to work for our tab? A mouse would be a major step forward on convenience. The new Surface has a finger pad and thats pretty nice. Who would like to see that with their tab?
I use a logitech mouse designed specifiaclly for android tablets running 3.1+,
got it on amazon for ~$30

You can use a USB adapter with a wireless mouse, as long as the mouse is wireless with USB.
Ok, so I have the tf300 with the dock and ive been using an app called droidmote, which can be used to turn your android into a wireless mouse and keyboard, etc. What I want to know is that, is there an app that lets you use the touchpad on the dock, or a mouse connected to the tablet, that can function as the mouse with these apps, the problem I have is that while I can use the touchpad on the dock, I still need to click the screen, so its like using a touchpad for a touchpad, what would be nice is if i move the mouse then it is registered on the computer, instead of having to click and drag to a location like normal.
