I have searched and searched to find some useful way to root my One x running the stock Jelly Bean Rom but nothing I found has worked. I read as far as unlocking the bootloader you do it the same way as you would on Ice Cream Sandwich, so I followed the unlock method as shown on OneXroot.com but my phone doesn't respond to the exploiter. I've also tried running the 2.20 ruu from AT&T but I should have known that method wasn't going to work from the beginning. Has anyone successfully rooted their One X after updating to Jelly Bean, if so how did you do it. If I need to downgrade to ICS in order to root my phone let me know how because I'm not having any luck. Again I tried to search for a solution instead of posting this but nothing useful came up. Most of the time the results were unresolved questions. So in short, I need help with unlocking the bootloader and then rooting my phone which is running 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
Just to make sure were all on the same page, I have the AT&T One X currently running Jelly Bean

That 3.18 root method says it works only on Linux for now. I have Windows, can it still be done?

So I'm upgrading to the One X, order is made and paid, because my Sammy Infuse charging port is fritzing up and I'm just looking for any tips, info or basic know how for the One X. Also, I haven't looked up on the One X board until now so forgive me but why are there two android dev boards?
Any info helps! :good:
Pretty vague request. But here is a good place to start: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
"Original Android Development" forum is for AOSP based ROMs. "Android Development" forum is for Sense based. Its a bit confusing, I agree.

That's the information money load there, thanks. Quick question, I saw in a different thread that people were looking for 1.85 or so firmware instead of the newest 2.20. Is there a particular reason why?

2.20 - is new firmware which is a updated version of 1.85
We had root method for 1.85 and lower versions but not 2.20 until yesterday . Yesterday djrbliss posted root for 2.20

Until yesterday afternoon, there was no root for 2.20.
Also, hboot on 2.20 is write-protected, which makes flashing roms a bit more complicated.

Oh wow, thats awesome but now I understand why its not exactly wanted. Hopefully I don't get a 2.20 by sheer luck.
It could be a mixed blessing. Firmware updates usually bring improvements to hardware. Who knows, maybe they fixed something.

New question since I don't wanna make a new thread.
How easy or difficult is it to hard brick the One X? I know with my Infuse that the only way to hard brick it is with failing during flashing bootloaders and even then theres a hard brick fix jig but I dunno much about the One X so far.

That's awesome, thanks. So I just got it this afternoon and I was looking and I saw that it only has about 12gb of memory including the 2gb partition for apps. This phone was advertised on the AT&T website as having "Up to 16gb of memory" Am I missing anything else? I'm a serious music whore and I have at least 14gb of music. It sucks enough that it doesn't have a micro sdhc slot
Since AT&T is going to take an arm and a leg and a body to release Jelly bean I am looking to see about rooting my device. I have rooted devices before(GS2, Skyrocket) but never an HTC device. I a wondering what the best method is.
My HBOOt is 1.14.002 and Locked is also shown. I have the update I think from Jun 11 2012.
What would be the best way to get into rooting the device and flashing it.
~Thanks!

Do the x factor exploit than go unlock your bootloader at HTC dev.com than flash a Rom than do s off
Is there a way to change your CID back to default or will it always be stuck at 1111111? And is there anyway to go back with this at all or no?

I have an HTC One X on AT&T and live in the US. I just want to be sure that i am following the right root tutorial. I have Android 4.0.4 (still dont have JB update). I have Sense 4.0 and software number 2.20.502.7
This the right tutorial to follow? :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957193
Also, Do I have to unlock the bootloader, or is it already unlocked?
Can I get the jelly bean update later on if I wanted?
Thanks.

Thanks for the link. Can you recommend a couple ROMs you think are good that are compatible with my phone?
I'm running Clean Rom 5.1 right now. It is a Sense 4.1, android 4.0.4 rom but it is waaayyy better than the stock rom. Very stable and great battery life. I've also ran his CleanRom JB rom and it is great also. Some people have had random reboot issue while running jb. Me included, but with Clean Rom JB I didn't have any. I've also heard good things about ViperXL.

All ROMs listed here are compatible with your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Just read through the threads, and you can see what people like. Better yet, just look at the features of the ROMs, see which ones suit you, and try a few.
Just Done a reasearch on rooting htc one x at&t  and searched every video and blog spot available.so there is no proper method available to root htc one x 4.1.1 3.18 beacuse of the policies of at&t and also the superid method is also not available so i hope the XDA team will pay a head on this and get a fast and suitable method to root htc one x quickly so that we can use customized roms i am loking forward for the best of the development from the forum and if anybody have done this plz shere the methods thanks in advance
If you done the research as you said you know you can root 4.1.1, S-off, and flash custom ROMs......

Firstly, all the info you'll ever need is on this forum right here. Going elsewhere is a surefire way to end up damaging your phone, as some of these other sites don't clearly distinguish between the Evita (One XL) and the Endeavoru (One X).
Secondly, there are working methods to root and s-off this phone on the 3.18 firmware, and they've been available for quite some time now.

Hi Guys,
I am currently on saturn 3 custom rom, and I wanted to go to stock ICS and start new. Yes I found a topic to get to ICS using RUU but with S-OFF
Also I Found a topic to get S-OFF using moonshine, When trying to get S-OFF by Moonshine there is a warning that I should not be in ANY Custom ROM, What should I do first so I can install moonshine.
I am new in the forum so I cant post it in where moonshine topic exist. please someone help. I am experiencing hanging with this rom so i am fully decided to back to stock
If moonshine don't work for you, you can try rumrunner.us.
Make sure you follow the instructions!
In case, i offer also stock 4.1.2 roms for k2u & k2ul.

Hi thanks for your reply, I have tried it but I cant s-off it also using rumrunner.. If you give me the stock 4.1.2 can i update the phone via OTA to get 4.2.2 just like the unmod phones? Whatever may be the answer please send me the link to the stock rom.. Thank you very much! I am using K2_UL with HTC__044 cid
PS: thanks for your Saturn III, but I had a problem with the ROM, occurred twice, it stucked in boot logo the one with the saturn planet picture. and never gone to a usable phone, All I have to do is to factory reset the phone and delete all files. I happened twice (
This can have many reasons, but most people report its stable.
Anyway, i don't work anymore on this old base.
Follow the link in my signature, to get the links for stock rom, because i'm away from my pc. Look under Jelly Bean 4.1.2 roms.
But i doubt, you will have success with OTA update with it. Failed already for others before! I still recommend thr S-off way.
At least some words: rumrunner is confirmed working with Saturn III, so i guess you have to check your configuration.
