Guys,
My power button had spoilt, had given to a local shop for repair. That got fixed. but after I got the cell back, I am getting very poor to no reception at all. 3G is also not working. Tried everything, flashed a new rom (7.8) too. Still no fix.
Please help me, I dont want to change my phone
Update:
On changing mode to GSM all through Diagnostic app, I am not getting any network at al!!
BUMP! Please any suggestions
That might be the sign of poor re-assembly or that something has been affected in your phone.
Has the back plate of your phone also been changed? I got a cheap replacement for mine and with it I get 2 bars less than the original one.

Hi,
On my new captivate there is a thing (looks like a connector) near the sim card, i thinked it was a n antenna connector, so i picked up a wire and connected it to the center of the connector an i dont have signal since that.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks, netpok
Why would you do that? Sounds like you may have shorted something. Time for a call to repair.
the main problem is that im living in hungary
i dont now how can i arrange the repairing

I think you are referring to the gps antenna but you probably shorted something

Absolutely no idea.
Gonna have to send it to Samsung repair. And to prevent the next question no it will not be covered by warrenty. Depending on the closest repair center to you. I have to agree.......Why would you do that?
That means, at now i have a really expensive pda.

thinking of coming back to the inspire but i want to make sure there are no cell signal issues with the inspire. have you all had any probs? how was it fixed?
Thank you
Why would u ask that? Did you?
I've never had any signal problem... I hardly have 5 notches out of 5 though even with 2 I m able to speak with no loss of quality...

Yeah, the signal strength with the stock radio for me is sub par as compared to the slew of other phones I have laying around here. Its always way down as compared to every other phone I have, even my iphone, which was the reigning king of crap signal. Maybe its possible to get a better signal with a different radio, I dont know? Its mainly just affected in building call performance, and definitely data performance. BUT I love this phone and am going to live with it. I have even thought about trying to rig up an antenna of some sort to experiment. I might try to solder a coil of wire onto the lower antenna/cover, probably wont work but I its an easy experiment.
btw I have tried different roms and reflashed the stocker a bunch of times experimenting with little to no change minus my gps randomly going away after some flashes.
Are we back in high school? What's with all these back and forth comments? Why not help the OP instead of going off topic?
And to reply to the OP, I personally haven't had any (cell) signal problems. The area you are in and how congested it is also a major factor.

I have had issues with the AT&T Microcell dropping calls using an unrooted, carrier unlocked, stock HTC Inspire. I have no resolution at this time.
Hey guys, I'm new to the Inspire sub-forum.
I was handed down this phone by a friend of mine, (phone only. no box) and it is a bit banged up. Enough so the wifi hardware is failing. (I'm assuming so because it doesn't work.) My question is, how do I go about repairing it? Should I take it to an AT&T store? Also, I have not yet rooted it.
Thanks in advance!
Try to reflash the stock ROM. Look for RUU in the inspire 4g forums.
Or, you can call HTC and see what they say. They might be able to do a warranty swap. Not sure if it'll work since you are not the original owner. Worth a shot though.

Thanks Kirk! Although flashing the stock ROM didn't fix it I appreciate your help. I will try calling HTC and hope for the best.
Is the battery cover damaged or broken in anyway? WiFi connector is bridged or built in to the battery cover as an external antenna I think ..
Whenever I removed the cover I get no WiFi..and you can see some gold colored contacts

There is some damage there actually. My volume rocker won't toggle down only up, but I can't really see any physical damage. Any ideas for a fix or am I SOL? D:
I'll post pics in a sec, camera is charging.

It will not let me. A box pops up and says "Unable to scan for networks"
By the way I really appreciate you guys helping me out!
Edit: I should mention WiFi automatically turns itself off after it says "Unable to scan for networks"
Try bridging those connectors with a piece of coppee or a paper clip. See if it changes.

Then that might be serious internal problem that might require taking the phone apart to see whats broken.
Also, HTC will not honor the warranty cause of the fact that theres physical damage.

Considering the phone will not have warranty, I probably will take it apart later and find out what's going on.
Also, it's time to root and flash a ROM.

Thank you, now I just need the tools!
Also, I managed to connect to my router some how.. perhaps that smack I gave the phone did the trick
There is still an issue though. I just ran speed test and am getting low speeds so I'm not 100% sure it's using my WiFi connection. I'm not familiar with sense at all so can you tell me if data connection in the notification bar disappears when WiFi is connected?

The wifi indicator on the Inspire looks very similar to the iphone wifi indicator.

Easy enough, turn on airplane mode then turn wifi on. Let it connect and then try to browse the internet. That will 100% tell you if the phone is using wifi and not the cell signal.

Ah ha! I see now. And surprisingly my WiFi is now working 100% right now and I am very happy! Thank you guys again for the help! Now I'm just paranoid about every little bump that might disable my WiFi somehow
This could just be extra precaution/I'm not sure if HTC would help you out, but you could ask for another battery cover. I hear on these forums that you can get replacements pretty easily...
so i happen to be in the wrong section for the HTC One X (International Verision) and i was reading a thread where alot of people were having wifi connectivity issues. So i tried to do what they were doing to replicate the problem (even though nothing happend, Pressing the back of the phone, checking for a faulty connection) Now that i tried doing it and they told me it has the LTE radio there instead of the wifi one, will my LTE suffer now that i tried it? i fear that i actually bent the connection pins.
Are you in an LTE area?
Didn't you mama ever tell you don't mess with things that aren't broke?

i will be back home tomorrow so yes, i will be. and yes my mama did. but like i said i was in the international section, and i thought my phone would be affect too.
The at&t one X only has one radio its built into the chip so I would say that if you have signal at all you didn't hurt anything.
If you get good LTE signal and speed when you're back in the LTE area, I wouldn't worry about it.
Makes me think of the old joke:
Patient: Doc, it hurts when I do this.
Doctor: Then don't do that

So the radios are all in one place? and nothing behind where i was pressing? The are between the camera lens and the volume rocker.

The radio itself is built into the snapdragon S4 chip. It's the antennas you need to worry about

Yes, I'm under warranty but I've bought the phone from China and I'm from Italy, only the ship cost will be more than the repair.
There's no place to repair a china phone here, nobody even known the phone
But it's a problem that has a lot of OPO and the manufacturer said that, they're good enough and, even N% has yellow screens...
But I'm really not happy with this phone, not only for the yellow line.
There is no way to fix it, with usage and time it gets slightly better. 99% of phones have this, so you should not have bought the phone, if you think this is a deal breaker.

I didn't know that this kind of phone has this kind of screen. Obviously I never bought a phone with this defect.
I really never bought a phone even if I had known the state of Cyano 11s.
But it'd definitely my fault.
Thanks for the answers.
