Cellunlocker.net horrible experience - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

Just wanted to let you guys know about my horrible experience with this company. Before the free unlock methods were available I had purchased an unlock code from them for $14.99 for my Rogers i337m. They had guaranteed it to work. Needless to say the code did not work. So they emailed back saying I would need an unfreeze code along with with the unlock code for $29.99. So I did that. The codes still did not work and I even proved it to them with a video which they requested in order for a refund. They did not update me with any information for two weeks. After countless emails, they decided that doing the free unlock method would work. By then i had already sold my I 337m and got an unlocked 9505. They refuse to give me a refund even though the code didn't work. They have horrible customer service and barely ever respond to emails. I've seen at least one other post on another forum saying the same thing.
Just letting you guys know that be wary of their services. Plus there are free ways to do the same thing now. They lost a few lifetime customers between me and my friends. I hope that was worth the $29.99 for them.

Thanks for letting us know we should all boycott jerk companies like this.

Not sure why this happenned to you, but i've unlocked every phone with them without any issue. Although there is something fishy here. Your unlock code, you claim to have cost you 14.99, mine was 24.99 for i337m. It worked the first time. Second, pay by paypal, next time a company charges you more than initially, just open a claim and you'll get you money back.

I haven't had a bad experience with them either. I've unlocked like 4-5 phones with them so far including my two GS4s. That too for $8 each only

Did you pay with paypal? If so, you could make a claim..

I used CellUnlocker.net as well, it cost me $24.99 for my I337 and I received a working code in under 5 minutes.

Something definitely isn't right here. If for some reason your phone didn't work with the code you entered, the other unfreeze code should have. It sounds like something is / was wrong with your phone. A few people that tried the "free" unlock method have screwed up their phones with the method and have been unable to use codes for sim unlock. However, you claim this was all done before the free unlock method?
Plus on the 29th of May you had this post in the "free unlock" thread...

Worked for me. Used T-Mobile sim in the states. Worked just fine. Maybe some work and some don't.

I thought you said you didn't try the method (you sold the phone first) and bought an "unlocked" I9505?
OP, can you clarify this story?

not sure what to say to you. i've unlocked about 65-70 iPhones, ~15 gs3 lte (for some reason the free unlock from service menu wasn't working, i think it's stk.apk, it appeard to be missing as they didn't open service menu), 15 gs2 lte, 20-30 BB including z10...i have yet to have a single issue with this cellunlocker.net.
and as you noticed you tried this long after the free method was posted....
and in case you are wondering those weren't my phones, i just unlocked them...
I've always used paypal too, in case.

I've never had a problem with them before either. That's what I'm saying. Lost a long time customer.
As for the free unlock method, in the other thread, that was for my girlfriends phone.
Nothing fishy here. I did use PayPal and there is a claim open.
I was stating MY experience with them. Of course others may have had codes that worked. I didnt. Which is why I sold that phone and just got an unlocked 9505.
Like I said, wanted to share my experience. I wouldn't knock a company for no reason.

Not in my case
I am a locked GS4 from fido and I paid 24.99 to get the unlock code from their website. Though the first method they suggested in the email didn't work, but the second worked perfectly. Maybe you just didn't read through their feedback e-mail and followed the entire instructions.

Awful experience with cellunlocker.net
Be carefull with Cellunlocker.net, they didn't comply with the refund policies.
I bought two codes with them, OrderID::xx4024 and OrderID::xx2763 and at the end the codes didn't work.
They start to send me some instructions to make the codes work but with no success.
Sometimes it seems like the person who answered my emails didn't know anything about my orders. They get me tired sending me the same instructions time after time and asking me for some videos with a "REFUND INSTRUCTIONS" as email header.
Once I realized we were going to nowhere I asked them for my money back as its refund policy in their website, I received nothing. I didn't receive an email with the reason to don't refund me.
I'm very disapointed with cellunlocker.net, they have attended a lot of people but my experience started very well but at the end it was completely awful.

I've never used unlock codes ever I only use unlock by software and USB and I've never had a problem.

I used them a couple of times and all the codes work. There shouldn't be any reason for it not to work as its pretty much impossible to send you faulty codes because of the way each code is unique to each phone. Anyway, if for some reason the codes don't work, you get back to them with your issue and if they give you a hard time, take it up with the payment processor (credit card, paypal) it will make things faster
Sent from Note 3 on Rogers

I've used them now on three different phones, and they all worked great. The only way it might not have worked is if you chose the wrong phone type.

Unlocked my fiance Bell Note 3 with no issues with this company.
From what I understand., sometimes you need to be on the stock firmware to be able to unlock.. My rogers s4 unlocked with no issues as well

Never had a problem with that company either
I unlocked my
Note 4 , note 3, S3 all from telus and also other phones for other people from that site without any problems.
It feels good to get the UNLOCK SUCCESSFUL message on my screen after punching in the code.
Awesome stuff!
Strange you went through that.

these guys are great too : swiftunlocks dot com - (notice the pleural) - used them twice for s5. Most s4 should be out of contract by now in which At&t will give you the code. OR there's software ways of doing it for the S4.

By "never had a bad experience" i meant I always had great service... If i ordered in their business hours I'd get my code within 2 hours, if not in the AM the next day. Also their prices were always very fair and codes always worked. Once I made a mistake in the IMEI and they were very nice and sent me a new one.

DON'T use cellunlocker.net. It took them about 4 days to come up with a code that didn't work. After being forced to upload several videos of me trying the unlock code and proving that my phone wasn't rooted or running a custom ROM, they still refused to issue a refund claiming my phone was modified. It's been 17 days and they still can't come up with a working code. Avoid them like the plague!

Works!
Cellunlocker.net worked for me, received working code within one day for my Samsung S9. I guess company may have evolved and improved their unlock process over the years.

Seems I haven't got the luck, tried the tricks found in the forum with the AT&T customer services and finally the result is no good, they rejected me for various of excuses, Account not activated for 90 days, Model of the Phone is not supported to be unlocked, the unlock team is not available at the moment, phone imei number is not bind to the account, no international service package is added to the account ....
Decided to turn to IMEI CHECK today, dumped out the file and provided the IMEI number, paypaled $40.44 USD ~( ... ) and emailed in the fax copy of my driver license(requested, no idea why need to do that) got the unlock code with in 5 minutes.
Jeez. Sorry dude.

That's insane!!! I paid won an ebay auction for $13.99 USD from www.cellunlock.net to have mine unlocked and received the code within 12 hours. They only needed the IMEI number of my phone...not sure why you had to pay so much and had to give them your drivers license.

Probably just to cover themselves. There are a lot of stolen phones about. One shop over here wants photographic ID and proof of address, lol!!!
Wouldnt worry too much, have used IMEI Check in the past, good service and no problems here, although their not the cheapest on the market.....

Especially since the OP paid via Paypal. Now, they have an email address tied to a known valid paypal account and the OP's credentials (Name, address, etc.). Hopefully they won't be able to much with it. I'd still be wary though. To OP, definitely watch your paypal account for suspicious activities and other financial activities for a while. Don't want to mess with identity theft. It's a nightmare to get resolved.
EDIT: Well, silent_killa's dealings should help ease your feelings a little. Though, it wouldn't hurt just to be safe.
@KMFM$: Really well said. Dealing with paypal on most levels is frustrating and when it is about identity theft I've heard they can be really, really unfair.
He has great advice OP

It is kind of funny the way it happened, but I assure you I am unlocked. I recorded the video at work but there was a lot of background discussions going on(unrelated to what I was doing )and I've got to edit the audio out. I am swyping with a rogers sim at my poker game right now.
There is no magic solution that I know of. I ended up getting the code from att. I'll tell you guys how tomorrow, but they issued the code to me
Oooooh! You can get a code from AT&T? Wow...I bet nobody knew that. Please hurry up with the video, because I can't wait to find out how you got them to give you a magic code. What did you have to give them? The cow you were supposed to take to the market?
Sorry for being so snippety, but I don't think that anyone gives a rat's ass about an unlock code. We all know what those are and how they work and how to get them. What we need is software to unlock the phone universally. I think that one of the best methods for the initial unlock will be with the xml settings that were found that seem to set the provider during the build process. That is unless someone else has figured out something that I haven't heard of yet.
Sorry, but I give a rat's ass about unlock codes, if they exist and are obtainable, it's the best way to unlock, period, especially if they come from AT&T and are free.
And I can tell you for a cast-iron fact that .xml files are not the key to unlocking a modern phone. These puppies are locked at the hardware level, deep down in the same encrypted chip where the IMEI is stored, and not something you can spoof with a text editor.
There will be no "software" unlock of this device, ever. Either we get codes from AT&T/Samsung, we get codes from the gray market, or somebody comes up with a cable method to (wait for it) brute force the code on a particular phone. See where I'm going here? It's all about getting that code.
Those .xml files you speak of are nothing more than standard carrier codes, so that the phone knows and can report what network it's on, and has nothing at all to do with what SIM card is installed.
That said...Giz, we want that social engineering information ASAP. The poker game can wait.

What difference does it make if you get a software code generator, or the DB of IMEI/Simlock codes, unless you're a profiteer.

Reading unlock codes. Its out there. Real or fiction?

This thread is serious....... PLEASE Expert opinions are welcome. I dont know much about unlocking and stuff, so please read.
I know this business of unlocking the SKR has been around for long.
BUT now there are folks on ebay, youtube, and other sites offering a USB method for unlocking th Skyrocket. Should buyers beware, or does anyone know if this is real?
Members yozh and BionicBeast have brought this before....but on searching google this business of USB UNLOCKING is out there. Are people being scammed?
examples:
http://www.fastgsm.com/en/page/how-to-unlock-samsung-i5700-spica-i5800-i5500-galaxy-3-5
http://www.youtube.co.id/watch?v=mH...DvjVQa1PpcFP61Cpp-L2yMG0La7fzZWij315zX043xRs=
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_1158wt_1396
EDIT: I think in only one case it is a real unlock code recovery.....the others look like hacks??
The first link you got there of the fastgsm one is real. I paid the $15 and unlocked the Tmobile Galaxy S2 which is almost identical to the Skyrocket.
It was done via the USB method. So it definitely works.
The second one is also real. It's another company that does it. I believe for about $17.

Thanks, dixit. Great input. So it is doable.......now we just need to get one of our great xda folks on the job !!!
Does this method actually find your unlock code that you can then enter, or is this a file hack? Can you provide further info on what happens at the unlock stage ?
I ask, because if this is a file hack like the famous Galaxy S unlocker, then one needs to worry about restoring the files etc. and warranty issues. If this an actual unlock code, then all is well .
There is already one person that has been trying to see what they can do on this. That person has been running on it for awhile but due to some finals he is taking its on hold till first week of May. So Id hang tight to see if that person can get anywhere. Otherwise wait a few more months and I think these will drop in the $2 range for codes once these phones lose their exclusivity deals with their respective carriers.

The USB method is not a temporary unlock, its permanent. What they are doing is finding the location that the unlock code is stored, and overwriting it with 8 zeros "00000000" and then when you are presented with the screen to unlock the phone with the unlock code, you enter 8 zeros and the phone is permanently unlocked. The code is stored on the phone, so all they are doing is changing the code, then letting you enter it in. Restoring wont affect it.
This is sort of what the other person is trying to figure out. They want to see what areas these folks are hitting on the phone and see if he can do the same without needing to pay for it from these companies. But like I said, its only matter of a few months or so till these phones lose their exclusivity with their carriers and then these codes will be widely available to unlockers and the price will drop to $1 like they are on 100s of phones on ebay. Right now its up there in price cause only ATT or Samsung can provide the code. Some say truly only Samsung can provide it cause if you call ATT they cant/wont even provide the unlock code.

Because replacing a known location where the unlock code is stored with an unlock code of 8 zero's is much easier then trying to decrypt the code already stored in the phone.
---------- Post added at 02:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:01 PM ----------
Dump the EFS partition to a file, then pay to unlock a phone via one of the USB unlockers, then dump the EFS partition a second time and do a binary compare. The lock code location and format will become very apparent in the compare.

Getting the location is a start, from there it's determining the format. The code is probably encrypted or it might be stored as an MD5 hash of the unlock code.
It may be that the unlockers have figured out the encrypted hash for '00000000' and just overwrite the correct location in the partition with that value so that when you enter 8 zero's as the network unlock code it works.
99% of the EFS is just 0x00 and 0xFF so there's not that much 'real' data to compare, maybe 150 or 200KB.
Another option is to collect EFS partitions from several phones and compare them, the relevant information such as IMEI, BT and WiFi MAC, unlock code will be in the locations that these files differ.

This info might be dated, since it has been a while that I worked for AT&T, but to the best of my knowledge, they DO give out unlock codes as long as you say the following:
1. You need it for international travel.
2. The offer you an international plan, decline it. Say you want to use a local SIM card.
3. They will say they can only do it if they put international roaming on this line. It is a free feature, so say "yes".
4. They will generate and provide an unlock code free of charge.
5. Send me whatever money you were going to pay
During the years I worked there, I did this countless times for customers.

3. They will say they can only do it if they put international roaming on this line. It is a free feature, so say "yes".
4. They will generate and provide an unlock code free of charge.
5. Send me whatever money you were going to pay
During the years I worked there, I did this countless times for customers.

Sorry, man, those days are gone. It is simply that Samsung still controls the database of the unlock codes for "famous"/top-end devices.
To prove this here is my chat with AT&T just 5 mins ago:
ATT: Thank you for completing the prechat survey. We can certainly check your device to see if can be unlocked for international travel. Can you please provide me the 15 digit IMEI number from the phone? You may obtain this number by entering *#06# on your phone.
Me: Sure....one min.
Me:
Brad Ritcey: Thank you. One moment.
ATT: Currently the device is not eligible to be unlocked. We have no set unlock date for the device at this time Mr.Subramaniam.
Me: So what is my option?
ATT: We do offer roaming plans while traveling for data, voice and text messages.
Me: That would be still more expensive.......
Me: Is there no unlock code at all for this device?
ATT: That is correct
Me: OK. Then I will buy a local to-go phone. Thanks !
I am never one to try any reasonable option....but this is the third time !!
Have you owned it for 6 months?

Yeah, it's been a while since I worked there. It is absolutely obscene to have to pay for a function of a piece of your own property. I'll try asking a friend of mine who still works there if there is any workaround on the horizon. It used to be just a matter of putting in the IMEI and clicking one button. This sucks.

Well as I said in my previous posts that you can save $10 by using the USB method. Two companies do it for $15. At least that method works and it's slightly cheaper for now.

I am not promising anything, but I may have something on that within a few days. I was able to get in touch with my friend and he was pretty sure that there is a way. He will be sending me instructions next time he is working. He usually knows his stuff, so let us hope for the best.
I will post as soon as I know something.

I tried to contact ATT twice yesterday. They all asked if there is a AT&T logo on the phone, then if I paid the full price (which I didn't), And finally said my phone is not eligble.

[Q] Please help me unlock my verzion I535

version S III running kit kat 4,4,2 yuck
I am no phone guru I am more like a phone retard. I did manage to put a different ROM on my wife's S III It was a Straight talk S III. That was very easy.I did not like the phone I had with ST so I bought a S III from a private dealer. it worked great with my contract with Version. I was lied to by the manager of my local version store and the next thing you know I am paying almost $300.00 a month. I gathered up there equipment went to there store and returned it to them. they kept the equipment and then had the nerve to still charge me $900.00 for it and more for the broken contract. I am taking them to court. I will not pay for what they have.
Sorry about the tangent. I have a S III running kitcat 4.4.2. I have spent a month pouring over web page after webpage. trying every piece of software that any body told me to try either thru Odin or Sim card. nothing works the thing is still locked up tighter then a drum. When I use Odin or the simcard way It always ends in red letters saying failed in odin or if its on the sim card small red letts that say some thing to the effect of invalid signature. at first I thought it was me, then I thought no I am following the directions to the letter. then I thought corrupt software. but that doesn't work either. not every single one can be bag. so all that leaves is Kitcat has my phone locked up tighter then a drum. So what is the fool proof way to be able to put a new rom on this. and please use little word I am phone inapt.
I hope some one can help with easy to understand using small words how to do what I want to do. and if some one knows of a decent rom that looks like swamp things it lives in the swamp, That,s the look I am going for. I am heading out in a few months or a year longest, to Louisianan to gator hunting and maybe some bore hunting
Sincerely

Its pretty simple and Basic. its my phone I own it the os is open source in other words free, They cant lock us out of it. I can see in the very near future a law suit. and I do know there is more then one way the jerk that lived here with me before he stole guns and a car and went to jail we got our phones at the same time from the same guy. this guy who lived with me had his phone unlocked completely and a new root installed in a matter of 2 days, so I know it can be don for a whole heck of a lot less then $50.00 he paid nothing and got all the software from the site. He was going to do mine to but he got busted first. The guy I bought the phone from can do it but he is way out west fishing.

You're also right, you do own the phone, but nothing in the gpl that Verizon has agreed to involves unlocking your bootloader. Verizon locking their bootloader doesn't violate any law or regulation, and a lawsuit wouldn't even materialize. A lawsuit won't happen.
Again, look this stuff up before spewing things out you know nothing about. People here have tried to help you, and I'm sorry if one person made you angry. It doesn't mean everyone here is unhelpful and doesn't know anything.

or root access, but now im just splitting hairs
i stumbled upon this little gem in my search for SIM unlocking my S3. Ive put an AT&T SIM in it and it works, but I just want it to be fully SIM unlocked. I know its kinda a moot point as it works with GSM sims in it, but the "unknown carrier" message on the screen is annoying. I cant seem to find a thread that has directions for SIM unlocking for ROMS after 4.3, more specifically 4.4.2 with the locked bootloader. I saw that yesterday they law to allow SIM unlocking for phones outside of contractual obligation was passed, so I imagine that any "black ops" methods of this that were previously not being discussed on this site are now back on the table. This S3 is not under contract, so can anyone help a brotha out??

If its a SCH-I535 you would have to take it to verizon to sim unlock the phone
Darn... I got it from a friend who upgraded to the S5. He saw my S5 and got a severe case of phone envy lol so the S3 (yep, the sch-i535) is just a toy, but I like my toys to be completely a fully modded. Its a shame that he did the 4.3 update when it came out locking the bootloader im still pretty surprised that there isnt a crack for that yet :/ oh, and will vzw give me any grief about the sim unlock since that law passed yesterday? Tough to answer that last bit, I know

Well, I called them last night and the tech support dude acted like it wasnt even simlocked to begin with. He kept repeating the phrase "4g devices do not require sim codes" and I kept rephrasing the question and getting the same response. I even went as far as to tell the guy about the *#197328640# diag menu access process and that I had seen it on other galaxy devices but in order to access it, the baseband must be pre 4.3 before the bootloader locked. He just kept restating his stance on it being a global phone. Im not sure if he was just being a richardhead or what, but I guess ill just try a different rep another time... sigh...

If it works on another carrier then what's the big deal? The guy knew nothing about bootloader unlocking because mostly they aren't going to do anything about that.

Its really not that big of a deal, but it has to be possible. He didnt even acknowledge the existance of a star pound code to get into a service menu. Just seemed weird to me that he was that obstinate about getting this done

I can send a lot of screenshot from my unlocked phone. Why I'm so ungry for $15. I lost totaly $500 for this phone. So $15 is not important for me. I can paid another $15 for permanent unlock my phone.
If you are theandroiddoctor person, you should explain the all process. Why technician close the session after unlock process without my test result. Nobody answer me, nobody answer my support request.
All time they use bad words and their behaviour is not fair.

Because they aren't a true professional shop, they are someone that does this from their home. They don't care about whether your phone works, they only care about getting paid and they didn't do the right thing because they didn't want to pay for messing your device up because they don't have a true business like a true professional would.
That's what you get for trying to save money to get it done and trusting someone that you found on the internet instead of taking your device to a trusted and reputable professional shop, you get what you pay for, it's your own fault for being stupid enough to trust someone you found online.
You made a bad decision and now you're paying the price, get over it, move on and learn a lesson from it. Posting here isn't changing anything.

Regarding the Note 5, the phone can be restored to factory conditions by downloading Samsung Kies. Once downloaded fire up the software, select "tools" followed by "firmware upgrade and initialisation". Then connect your phone and the software will download all the necessary files, including the latest updates. I know this because they screwed my phone's IMEI during a unlock process, probably hoping they would squeeze more money out of me for a IMEI repair. Kies solved my IMEI problem, and their unlock wasn't affected by the Kies update (their unlock worked). These are unsavoury people who had access to my computer and phone while they carried out their half a job. Hindsight is a wonderful thing....

To add to the OP's experience, here is what i had to go through:
I asked about the process to unlock a galaxy s7 and the online chat support rep sent me a Google pay link. I asked him whether they'd support Paypal and he responded with a barrage of expletives, also threatening to install active x and hack my browser. NEVER EVER USE THIS SITE FOR ANYTHING.
