Help - How to recover pin / unlock / wipe phone - HTC Sensation

Help! I have an old HTC Sensation that I wanted to trade in for the HTC One that I got. It's been more than a year since I used the Sensation and I don't remember the numeric pin that I had set up for it (the regular Android security screen-lock pin). What can I do?
My objective is to wipe the phone before sending it.
First of all, what do we do if we forget the Android screen-lock pin/pattern? (It just says "please try again in 30 seconds" as is the case with any Android phone)
Anyway, if there is no way to recover the pin (is there?), then my next question is how do I wipe the phone?
Someone please help.

one idea is to boot into safe mode
reboot the device and once it shows the splash screen hold the volume down key until it gets you to the safe mode
after that disable the unlock pattern from settings and reboot again
done
about wipe what exactly do you want to do?
are you rooted?

Honestly I don't even remember what was the last state of it (rooted or not). I have had a couple of phones after it (the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4) and rooted (and unrooted) those too. So I don't really remember if I had rooted it (I think I had but not sure).
So can we look at both possibilities: its rooted, and its not rooted.
I basically want to wipe any personal data off the phone - because I want to send it to HTC as part of the $100 Trade In program they are giving for the new HTC One (which I got recently).
Thanks.

oh cool I can Factory Reset it now from the bootloader option above Thank you so much rzr86. I really forgot everything about the Sensation. (it's been like ages and I've had a couple of phones in between). The deadline for the HTC One Trade-In is June 19 so I was looking for my oldest phone to trade-in.

man you are completely stock as you bought it
there is no need to do anything about it
now for the wipe you said
from settings it has an option for factory reset
it will erase everything(not sdcard) and returns the device to default settings as you took it

Bricked Sensation (I think), HELP!

okay so long story short i'm not a noob to flashing, rooting, roms or anything else of that matter just new to htc devices so i thought i could tackle my sisters htc sensation 4g by rooting & flashing aokp on the phone like what i already have on my droid X & galaxy nexus...
got it to boot aokp & nothing else it would freeze as soon as i unlocked the screen & reboot....
but that's not the problem, i tried to go back into recovery & restore my backup but it gets about 97ish % done & shuts off leaving me at a blank screen & unable to turn it back on unless i pull the batt and try again.
after that it boots to the white htc screen then flashes to the other one with the black lettering under the "HTC" vibrates and ends up in that everlasting bootloop.....
i read something about being able to do a factory restore from i think something called an rru file but i have no idea on how to do that or cant even find anything on it..
all help is appreciated as my sis is getting pretty pissed at me right about now

Can you go into Bootloader?
(pull battery and then vol down + power)
Gives you a white screen
Post all the details its showing.
Then part 2
Did you have adb/fastboot setup?
If not then go to sensation q & a or sensation general section and see in stickies there will be a thread for adb and fastboot setup
. Follow that guide and set it up
After you got adb
Keep your phone in fastboot (go to bootloader and then select fastboot from it use vol up/down to browse and power to select) and connect it to your pc
Then go to your adb folder
And type this from Cmd prompt
(to open Cmd prompt hold shift + right click on the white space and click on "open command prompt here")
Type this
fastboot getvar all
Post the complete output except imei and serial number
I'll guide you through ruu based on the outputs you give
Sent from my pyramid.. Through blazing fast sonic waves
Yes i can get into the boot loader, it reads as follows:
-Revolutionary-
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.1100
RADIO-10.14.9053.01_M
eMMC-boot
Jan 13 2012, 17:33:34
HBOOT
(menu options here)
do you mean fast boot as in before i rooted it from he phones power menu?
if so no, i turned it off so i guess i'll go check into that.....
nevermind, got it all set back to stock, then ended up trying it again & it worked perfectly.. don't know what the problem was first time around.. i even wen't back & checked md5 like 8 times on both gapps & the rom package.....

[Q] Some problem with microphone and recovery in XE!

Hi all,
Yesterday afternoon, i realized that my Sensation XE's microphone does not work correctly,
i realized that its microphone became weak and only transform my talks if i speak load, but if i blow into it, it will get the noise the same as past.
i thought that it could be software issue, so i tried to wipe my data and make a factory reset. but when i enter into the recovery mode (from boot loader) and after showing recovery logo for just 2 or 3 seconds, it restarts and android system load correctly, as same as a normal boot.
here are two question,
1- do you think that he microphone has been damaged and should be replaced?
2- what is the matter with recovery? ( i installed the clock world recovery on my phone)

OK,
My phone is HTC Sensation XE,
HBOOT 1.29,
UNLOCKED,
S-ON,
Pyramid PVT SHIP
eMMC-boot
my problem is not about the operating system. actually after i experienced a problem with the microphone, i have decided to make sure it is not a software issue. so i want to do a factory reset. but whether from bootloader or from setting->storage ... recovery just came up with a logo but i do not see the menu.
let me describe it more. when i enter into the boot loader, i see this options:
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY,
FACTORY RESET,
SIMLOCK,
IMAGE CRC
when i want to enter into recovery mode, after showing a black screen for a moment, an android logo and a blue progress bar appear. but suddenly phone restarts and operating system start to load.
i have installed CWR recovery again but is has the same problem. i just want to wipe my data. so this is not important to me to install CRW. may be removing it and working with the original recovery be better. because my phone still has guarantee and i want to LOCK it again to use its guarantee.
thanks

Thank you veeeery much,
but unfortunately i could not find my proper ROM. according to the below information, could you please help me to find it:
RUU Pyramid LE (because my phone is Sensation XE)
software information: 3.33.451.151
CID: HTC__J15
it must be English (United Arab Emirate)
sorry for disturbing you.
Furthermore, i actually did not get the role of CID for finding ROM? it sounds that i completely related to phone model and software version!

[Q] Stock HTC One S Boot Loop

Sorry for beginning a new thread, I searched around and haven't found this exact issue resolved elsewhere.
I have a completely stock HTC One S US T-Mob, as of now it is bootloader unlocked. It is unrooted and has never been rooted. I received this phone from insurance just a week ago, everything was running fine, all of a sudden the phone shut off and began endlessly rebooting. It boots up to the HTC logo, goes black and starts over again. The phone does not have USB debugging enabled because I never planned to modify it. I can get into the bootloader and fastboot, however, no options in the bootloader menu are responsive. If I select anything other than "Power Down" in the fastboot menu the phone instantly returns to bootlooping. I can't select "factory reset" or anything. I can't even plug the phone in to charge without it re-entering a bootloop.
I've been trying to find a way to force USB debugging, or flash a stock rom just so that I can reset the damn thing back to stock. That is why the bootloader is now unlocked. Everything was completely stock when the bootloop took hold.
I'm hoping someone can help me out with a fix. I don't care about recovering my data, I don't care about modifying this phone, I just want to get out of this bootloop and back to stock. Please help. Is there anything I can do?
Here is the text from my bootloader.

Well it seems most of the damage has been done. I would flash RUU using the all in one tool kit. It might be possible your boot image became corrupt. You could even flash a custom rom at this point since your bootloader is already unlocked.

Hey, thank you so much for your reply. I've got the All-In-One toolkit, and when I try to use it to flash an RUU or ROM it says Device Not Found. I have HTC Sync installed, so the drivers should be there, and everything else looks to be in place. The All-In-One dialogue says that USB debugging must be enabled, and it is not.
Is there a way around?
can't get out of boot loop!
was on ElementalX 5.0, but i started experiencing bad battery life, so flashed ElementalX 4.3, and got stuck in the loop.
when i had boot loop happening before, i just had to flash boot.img via cmd, but that's not doing anything.

[Completed] HTC One Mini AT&t Stuck in Bootloader mode

I am trying to root my Note 3, so i decided to switch back to an old One Mini that I had laying around. It was completely stock, and before I powered it off a few months ago I did a factory reset. Today I booted up the phone and its stuck in bootloader mode. Tried rebooting, nothing. Recovery mode does nothing - it just vibrates and goes back to bootloader screen. I have absolutely no idea what happened, as the phone was off and sitting in my closet for 3 months. It was never rooted, and being AT&t I fear the worst for this phone. There is no warranty, as the phone is super old.
I've tried unlocking the bootloader and I either get a confirmation message in command prompt or I get a "FAILED <unknown status code>" and the phone has not changed.
I can't flash any recoveries or new image files. Is there anything I can do to fix this phone, short of taking it to Bestbuy or AT&T and paying tons of money?
Here's info from the bootloader screen if that helps:
