Help please I just rooted my Asus tf700t and set up bluetooth tethering with my iPhone 4S , I was wondering if I could possibly use my bluetooth connection for Internet and yet also connect the tablet to my bluetooth stereo head in my car for streaming music like I do, yet do it simultaneously??? This would be awesome on road trips

I have 64 gigs of music on my tablet and my iPhone only holds 16 gigs plus iPhone even tho its jail broken, still has all my music stored via iTunes and iTunes Match which sucks because iTunes Match downloads songs to my phone as soon as they are played causing my Internet to and GPS to run slow plus fills up my phone with music after a couple of weeks. It's a drag, apple is horrible with their " innovative" ideas.

If you have a blank cd's or dvd's will Itunes let you burn them as mp3's? Then you can transfer them to other devices since they are mp3 files. I just bought a new class 10 32gig microSD card for 34 bucks at the store yesterday. That is another option. They had 16gig cards for about 12-20 bucks. You could store them on a card and just swap it out. Many of them come with the full size SD adapters. That would make it easier if you have the dock.
I don't think the bt hardware in our tablets will receive/send signals to two devices at the same time. I've never tried but would love if it did. Bt headphones will using a ps3 controler for games... sweet.
Connecting to more than one device via bluetooth is possible. I often have a bluetooth mouse and headset connected.

I am about to buy a ridiculously expensive car. Of course it has an iPhone connection so that my wife can contol her iPhone via the cars controls.
Since it is a USB connection, would it be possible to make an Android app that emulates the iPhone so that I could connect it the same way?

In a word...no...sorry.
The android has completely different connection to the iphone so you wouldnt be able to connect it, also i dont think anyone has ever emulated an iphone (or would want to XD) Id buy a different car
If it is that expensive, you must demand a Android compatible device!

Good idea
Well, haven't found any Android compatible cars so far... And since the iPhone is a ridiculous piece of equipment it is not an option to switch. So I guess I am stuck with the jack cable.
For some reason the USB connection refuses to treat my Nexus One as a storage device like my USB stick with MP3 and Flac files. That way at least there would be the possibility of controlling the music from the car controllers.
As we all know, TF700 has one of the greatest screen ever.
1900x1200 full HD resolution is even higher than my 720p TV..
Which makes me wanna play my xbox on TF700 if I could.
Is there any possible way to do that?
I heard u can connect some dvd players and watch it through TF700 screen, then why not XBOX?
Need some help here, It would be AMAZING if I could play Tekken on my TF700:laugh:

No. For that you would need some video input, which does not exist on the TF700.

You can connect a DVD *ROM* and watch the DVD being played by the TF700, like on a PC.

Fairly simple reason, much the same as why you can't use a laptop screen as the screen for an Xbox (i've tried. )
The tablet only has HDMI out. Meaning it can't recieve signals, it has no input. As such, hooking up your xbox will simply be trying to run water uphill.
A DVDplayer is an external media device, the same way a harddrive is. (A SATA is a glorified DVD player.) It doesn't recieve a media signal, it simply sees an external disc, and the media player plays the Video_TS.IFO file, which starts the film.
If you hunt around Google you'll see that there has been some work done on getting USB TV tuners to work in android. I haven't actually tried any of them, so I can't say anything about wether or not it's even worthwhile.
However, you do have another option that will work with a little effort, and that's to buy a network TV tuner like the HD homerun. Basically, the tuner sits on your network and you can use the tablet to watch TV off of it. The plus side of this is that you can use a VPN to connect your tablet to your network while on the road and if your connection is good enough, you can watch tv while away from the house as well.
Xbox isn't going to happen as there is no video input. For watching tv, you could always check out a slingbox. I had one of the first models and apparently they've gotten world's better.

Thanx all!
Well thanx for all your answers.
Now that I know that I cannot connect xbox *directly* to my TF700,
I'll look for different ways like the 'Splashtop' or USB TV tuners as mentioned above.
I still have a dream that one day I can play my xbox with docked TF700 somehow:fingers-crossed:
slingbox is awesome.
Got tired of wearing a bluetooth headset in the car and was considering upgrade my car's audio system to something that would have bluetooth.
Just by luck I found this bluetooth adapter that once connected to my car's audio system, gave it all the modern capabilities.
No more headsets, no more fiddling with turning volume down on maps, so that I could make a phone call.
My Galaxy S4 now streams audio to my radio, when a call comes it is pauses the music, or when maps has some voice guidance, it also pauses music and then continues afterwards.
Same when I make a phone call... music pauses and continues afterwards.
This company GROM Audio makes bluetooth adapters for many cars.

A Bluetooth Stereo have been one of the best things I have ever put in my car, in my case an aftermarket Sony Deck.
This just makes everything so much easier and less cables around the place. All i need now is one to charge my phone and that is it. Even when I'm with friends I can have them connect using their phone and play music while sitting in the back seat.
If you just need it for music and want to save some cash you can always use one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/390534336745?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 provided you have an aux input,

Only $12 and it works like a beast. Since I got it I saw another one just like it for $9.99.
However, I would like to have simultaneous multi-device connecting and the phone audio so I will be getting something more.

$20? Oh, you are having to pay for shipping? That sucks.
You really need to get a Prime membership. I have had it since they first offered it years ago.
Anything marked "Prime" (big or small) ships for free via 2-day FedEx air and you get free Kindle borrows and free streaming of movies and TV.
All for $80 a year. I have Kindles and I buy stuff from them all the time so I make out like a bandit! :good:
But yeah, the thing works perfectly and since my Mustang came with a power point and aux in jack inside the center console, it is invisible and just flat works.
When I get one that will also pipe the phone audio through the speakers, this one will go in the Motorhome for sure.
I love nexus 5 and google music ! but my car is manufactured by apple fan boys and the bose audio it has only has ipod menus and plays music out of iphone only.
The audio system does support playing music from a usb device but google music doesn't cache the music in a plain root folder for the car music to identity it.
I can get an aux cable but I want to control music off my steering controls and don't want two cables for charging and audio to my phone at the same time, its just not convenient.
How can i resolve this ? Is there an app which gets music from google music and puts it in music folder on the phone directly ? What are my options ? I am sure some other fellows here have been in my position before.
Even if you do put music directly on the device. Almost all car head units do not support the mtp protocol that the nexus uses to read the storage of your phone.
Your first step should be to drop an mp3 into your nexus and check if your car can even read it
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Also try both settings (MTP / PTP). As far as I remember PTP used to handle my Galaxy S2 as two seperated storages (one for internal / one for external). If I remember correctly they both appeared just like USB sticks when I connected it to the PC. The Nexus 5 should then bring up a single storage, since it doesn't have an external storage.
Hope this helps
Another question: Doesn't the device have the ability to stream music via Bluetooth? I use this method in my car and the music controls work great
EDIT: You could also try this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homeysoft.nexususb.importer I know, it costs money but you can try it for like 15minutes and if you don't like it, just uninstall it and you'll get your money refunded

you mean when I connect the phone via usb I get options to whether use it as media device or photo transfer ? I have tried both its not working.
The bluetooth only works with phone calls and not with music playing.
I may sound funny but aren't there any apps or even hardware device which can get connected to nexus 5 and makes car system consider it as an iphone ?
Could also try this.

I think that it is complete crap that they manufactured the stock headunits in cars to be more compatible with iPhone than Android. Not everyone has an iPhone, believe it or not.

I know what you mean but the car is more like 30k and nexus 5 costed around 4 hundred. It worked perfectly with iphone, i would charge, play music, show playlists artists everything and would let me control tracks off my steering. This thing doesn't work at all. Not as a usb not as an iphone no nothing !
The app you mentioned, not sure how would that work considering that the app pulls up media from the usb or hard drive. Here we want to put the media from the device to the car.
Wonder if nexus 5 owners never had a car or what because this should be a very common problem. Why no one ever talked about it here on the forum ?
As far as bluetooth goes I am wondering how old your car is, and what is the make and model?
If the car is a 2012 model or newer then it really should work and if not it is the fault of the manufacturer. If it is older than that I wouldn't expect it to work. You will likely have to upgrade your factory stereo to something newer that supports today's Bluetooth profiles.
If it is a 2013 model I am shocked that it doesn't work, but if so you should have tested this before you bought it
But ya, the USB thing will never work.

Since your car came with iPhone technology, however, I suggest that you get a used iPhone just for use in the car.

It's all gonna be based on your actual stereo unit because I have a Honda Civic that when I plug in an iPhone it charges and syncs my music, it even shows the album artwork. When I plug in my Note 3 or Nexus 5 I don't get any of those options except for charge BUT I am able to stream over bluetooth and it lets me control my music through steering wheel buttons.
Now I have noticed that on my Note 3 it doesn't display the right track information if I play music through Spotify but on my Nexus 5 it will actually show the tracks. I found that very interesting.
So basically, your stereo unit was made strictly for iPhone support.

Yep its 2011 nissan altima having bose audio system. So I believe I am out of luck. Basically you select a car on basis of several other factors. Phone connectivity wouldve been the last thing I would notice and in those days I was connecting iphone 4 without a problem.
Its more of a problem of phone manufacturer to make sure that it is considered as a usb music player when connected to a device.

USB mass storage was so useful. I hate mtp. So I had to use bluetooth adapter and I love it. I got this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004CLYJ2I/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1388953809&sr=8-3&pi=SY200_QL40 the price went up. When I got it, it was only 30+.

Yes have been checking this one too. Lets see if the belkin works, otherwise will give this one a try.
I feel for you. Car stereos have been very Apple centric for a long time and I don't know why. I guess it stems from almost everyone owning an iPod back in the day. Things are finally starting to change though, thankfully. I'm seeing more an more stock and aftermarket head units specifically mention Android support.

Both receiving Bluetooth, One cabled to AUX input in my car, sounds great, and the other in an old work truck via FM transmitter (stereo sounds great, but too old for AUX or bluetooth). It was the very first 'good' experience I've had with an FM transmitter, most are complete garbage. Cheers!

Eh just spend a bunch of money on a new stereo receiver. (I've been seriously debating this, or at least getting a car audio place to change out the input jack that's for some reason hard-wired into my car stereo and is way too big for any case I've ever used, but the money's not really there. Not really there for a new phone either, but what can you do when the Note 7 starts lighting on fire?)
Or even more way too much money on a BRAND NEW CAR!

I wish I could. My car is a Lacrosse where the radio is heavily integrated with the rest of the car.
I'd love to have a car with Android Auto. I had a rental recently that had it. A new car is not in the budget.
After market radio only cost 150 plus kit and tax for audio streaming... but depending on your car that kit can cost up to 300... and as low as 5 and service to put it in unless you do it yourself which is about 50 average.
I bought a cheap $20 Bluetooth fm transmitter since my '06 Chrysler 300c doesn't even have an aux port. Thinking about maybe getting an aftermarket head unit at since point but for now the fm transmitter works well enough.

Strange. Brand new 2016 Ram does not show album art and sometimes doesn't show track time count when streaming via Bluetooth. Also, tracks randomly pause or do random volume changes while streaming. Uconnect does not recognized phone connected through USB.
