I have a rooted g2x and I wanted to sell it on ebay. No roms are installed and I want to factor reset it. Can I just do this through the regular menus or is there anything else I need to consider?
If you go into settings and factory reset it, it should get rid of root.

Too much of a hassle, especially if it's only using stock rom that's rooted with like oneclick rooting method.

Root won't go by this method but who cares anyway.

Root and cwm recovery aren't related.
Uninstalling su.zip with TB is like saying I don't want black, but go on and wipe black with black lol (TB requires root to perform most actions)
Just install a Google full rom (sticky in general section) and lock the bootloader afterwards.

I don't get what you say. Installing a full Android stock rom will delete cwm recovery and add the stock recovery again (as well as restoring the install-recovery.sh again).

If your radio is the correct one that came with the version you have installed, why bother.. if not they can see that the bootloader was unlocked just from comparing your device's Android + radio version versus what it would have been via OTA.
Im on ota from the first leak. Then i flashed the scv7 without making a backup. I downloaded an app that allows you to manipulate the radio and now my texting doesnt work. I normally would fxz back but i don't think there is one for the second leak or ota. If i load into stock recovery and reset to factory will that bring it back to stock ot back to scv7 without a launcher like it would if i reset to factory in a custom recovery
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
Hate to say it man but I think you're hosed. Factory reset will not fix your text issue.
You need to fxz back but you CANNOT as we don't have an ICS fxz.

No. It will only wipe user data, and the radio modifications would either be system or radio.img modifications.

This is exactly what we were warning everyone about - IF YOU WANT TO ROOT AND MOD YOUR PHONE ON ICS, STAY ON THE FIRST LEAK ONLY! There is no safety net fxz for anything higher than leak#1 yet. (Sorry, for the caps lock, but it wasn't directed only at you.)
Can you boot into custom recovery (probably not, from the sound of it)? Not sure what and how bad things are messed up, but you can't re-install the OTA through stock recovery.. I don't suppose you made a system.img before this happened? If you can't get into custom recovery, then your only hopes at this point is to flash something with moto-fastboot in AP Fastboot mode - i.e. system.img and/or radio.img - but, that probably won't help unless they are images from your own phone.
Yea everything works but the text messaging . I actually flashed the multilingual stock thinking it would fix but it didn't.

Did you factory reset after reverting back to stock? I think there was some issues (gremlins) that were reported when reverting and factory resetting seemed to fix any issues. It's worth a shot if it happens again.

Hi all. First off I'd like to apologise if this is in the incorrect place (as a seasoned user of forums like this I understand how irritating it can be) but I've hunted about and this is the most relevant board I can find.
The USB port on my GT-I9300 is broken - I can't charge and can't connect to my PC - so it's looking like I have to send it off to Samsung to get it fixed/replaced however I have rooted my phone. Is there a way I can unroot it without having to connect to a computer?
Any advice is greatly appreciated as I'm in a bit of a panic.
You should be able to pull a clean ROM onto it then reboot in recovery and do a factory reset then install the clean, stock ROM. I don't know if they will even care about that but a good just in case

Thanks! I never noticed that option before. I'll give it a go.
I've seen some talk of needing Triangle Away & Mobile Odin to unroot my phone properly? Is that correct or am I okay just using the option on SuperSU since I've never actually installed a custom rom, I just unrooted the phone?
This is the Verizon forum. Not sure if the advice applies to the international version.

Someone correct me if im wrong, but in order to root this phone you need to flash an already rooted ROM, you must use the nvflash link that was provided for you no matter what, and then once CWM is flashed, flash a ROM.
Hope this helped!

Super one click doesn't put cwm recovery on the phone if you want rooted stock kwes has one pre made flash through cwm easy as pie guys. I dont understand why you would want your phone rooted with no recovery installed. Just makes it harder to fix if you mess up
