- probably a minor update, though, wish they could add some new stuff, like a new lockscreen and launcher. Let's wait and see if we get this!
Ready say bye bye to low volume and download music info bug!

Well, it's been certified and the source code is released, but the update is not released yet.
We will have to wait and see if it fixes anything, or adds any missing stuff. I think Xperia J gets no love at all from the media, which is quite a shame.

Please, search before you post.
Sony just released the open source archive, not the actual update, so there's no way to flash it manually or install anything yet.
We appreciate clean threads without these noob questions. There is a search fuction for a reason. And reading doesn't hurt, too.
I hope this new update will include new xperia Z framework. Is this 4.2.2 or 4.1.2?

I dont talking about 4.2 ! My father get Xperia GO and I update it from gb to jb and it gets lockscreen like xperia z and framework like xperia z. I think Xperia GO it is a tiny edition of Xperia Z!
I think this is possible for Xperia J too!
If this update wont bring any good stuff, i will go to CM10 and tweak my device by myself.
why are you even waiting for the update straight away flash CM10 its much better

Hi everybody, I have been thinking of buying a Xperia J, theres this one guy thats selling one at a really good price, but theres a problem with his set.
He says that his phone is facing some sort of a delayed touch response on his phone. Meaning the Touch screen works but everything responds after a second or two. He says theres no installed applications on the phone, so I dont think its a low memory problem causing this. He assures me that its not a hardware problem, and the problem will be solved with a update of the phones software. Now there is no official Sony Service centre where I live, so sending the unit for service at the local repair shops is out of the question.
Is this a common thing with the Xperia J? And can this actually be solved with a software update? Thanks!
There is the solution in this forum...search for it..
Sent from my ST26i using xda app-developers app
And I also forgot to mention that he said the touchscreen problems started after he mistakenly deleted some files on his phone. Now if this is a easily fixable problem then I would be glad to buy this device. So can anyone help me out here? Oh and if this question was asked and answered can you kindly post a link to that page here? Thanks.
Sent from my AT300 using xda app-developers app
First thing to do after you bought it: Do pc companion > repair my phone. Yes, its a pain to download that huge data, but its the only way to get a stock, and with proper localization firmware file. Then you can make it into .ftf for use with flashtool. Temporary solution: try installing first touchfwtools here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2068082 Just try it before buying that phone.
Sent from My Awesome Paradox ST21i
Hi, the seller did say that all the touch problems would be solved through the Sony desktop manager, however I do remain somewhat skeptical.
Do you think that would solve the touchscreen issues?
Thanks for that link, If I do go see that phone I will use it.
However I would like to make sure that this is a easily fixable problem before I go out and brave the horrible traffic jams in this country.
Is there anyone who has faced this sort of problem before with their Xperia J?
Sent from my AT300 using xda app-developers app
Bro,
Just call that guy to a place where you can get good internet speed...download pc companion.install it and then select the repair option...
Now this option will install the latest available official software on the device...there is nothing illegal in doing this nor can it harm the phone, provided that he has not unlocked bootloader.
If what he says is true( the touch response instability was due to deletion of system files) this should fix it...if it doesn't it's not a software complaint...do this in the other guy's presence so that he will not accuse u or point at you...
Sent from my C1604 using xda app-developers app
If we had good internet in my country I would have done exactly that. However the Sony updates are huge and the only place where we can meet where there is internet is in a cyber cafe, and the speeds there hovers around 40-80 kbps, so that option is out of the question. I guess Ill just demand some sort of a guarantee from the guy and find out (hopefully not the hard way) if it really is a software problem. Either that or I dont buy that set at all. Thanks everyone, unless there is someone out in the forums who has experienced (and hopefully solved) the exact same problem on their Xperia J, I guess theres nothing left to do now.
Sent from my AT300 using xda app-developers app
40 kBps isn't that bad...isn't it kiloBYTESper second...
With that speed it would take just two hours...if u can't do that....leave it...best of luck........

For everyone: who has PC Companion please download and install the update, becouse i can't have my Xperia E until 2 PM so sorry guys i can't install the update now =((.
Still i think that is strange that Sony relased already 2 updates for the Xperia E xD
And i'm still thinking that this is a big update, like 4.1.2(with the new Xperia Z UI) or 4.2.2 ( If they update our Xperia E to 4.2.2, Sony is just crazy..... Why they didn't update my old Xperia U?!)
I remember that the build number finishes with .23 and the rest is the same of the current build( maybe i'm wrong, when i saw that an update was available i saw for an instant the build number than PC Companion crashed XD)

I understand what problems you're facing. The first and the most important one is that you clearly don't know where to post questions like these! This should be put up in general section with a new thread as a question. Secondly, I don't think you need to unroot it prior to the update. And finally, if you have already unrooted it and installed the update, find out a way to root that firmware. Towelroot works like a charm for xperia devices but i've not tested it on E. Kudos!
