Google Now Android Dialer *Concept Prototype* - Android General

This is something I have been playing around with in my down time - and is very much still a work in progress. You can check it out and tap through it here
http://goo.gl/8Q4y2
Works best by visiting on your android phone with chrome beta...
I believe you can do the following:
• Tap the text field to enter a number, then delete that text
• Tap the header of the event card to view the card behind it
• Tap any card to call a contact, tap call button to call, and end button to end call
• Tap the microphone inside the text field to launch the fake speak recognition

really nice, looking forward to it!

Looking good! Hope you get a working build soon

Well, it's not actually getting made, it's not a real product - it's just a concept idea.
I'm pretty sure that there is only one company around that could make it - if you're curious who that is, just "something it."

[UPDATED 8/21] Does anyone want.....

Softkey remaps have been added to Trailblazer Mods
Also, the Clock Unlock has been added xD
Now though, new "Does anyone want...." When someone calls you, and you are in another app, so that you see the call from the ticker, does anyone want the "Ignore and Text" button to link to Google Voice?
Also, how about bold ticker date text? I don't know, the original seems to small for me haha
I don't know about it doing that but I was wanting to change the functionality
Anything that gives it functionality... I have literally only used it once to see what it did and screen on/off seems infinitely more useful... you know us continuum users will take what we can get...

Could you make it open app droor to switch apps w/o goin to homw screen? That and on-off are only functions I can think of rite now but im sure someone has killer idea ...whatever function you give it you gotta make a cool icon and 1 word descrip with no more than 6 letters....hahaha

Holding down on the search key also launches the Shutdown Options Menu....
Some people seemed to want it, so i will upload it to the Trailblazer Mods thread soon

Also, ever since the upgrade to 2.2, the (handy, in my opinion) feature of unlocking the phone threw clicking the clock had been removed for some retarded reason I managed to put that feature back in, for myself mainly, and for anyone else if they want it

So yes Trailblazer101....final answer.... I would like a mod to change function of search key...really don't care what.....if we could answer/ignore/end calls or even sum kinda application launcher....
sent from my XDA phone - its more than a continuum
I believe this deserves some consideration. With sum trial and error we could make a lasting improvement to google's standard interface. Im sure there is some app, utility, or shortcut that can be represented by an icon and makes navigating your phone easier....menu, home, and back are kinda dedicated to the SMART so maybe fourth key should be dedicated to the PHONE part init? To make a long story longer we took this phone from Sammy and VZW when we gave it froyo...we will take it from google when we improve native/home keys.......was that motivational hahaha

haha, yeah that was motivational, haha Made me think

Okay how about an app that uses your phone's GPS to find all grocery stores in your area. From there you can type in the name of an item and it would cross reference the prices of all the surrounding stores and give you a list of all the prices. With the economy being in the crapper and money getting tight, it seems like it could be a killer app.

Google Maps + Google Shopper already do this to the best knowledge they can as stores do not show all food costs online.
since you say u r new, i suggest you to go for an idea which has already been made and put your flavor on it, once you get your hands on it, u can make something original. I like a fully functional app that uaes the proximity sensor to operate differnt functions, there is already an app, but it has flaws

Make a good porn app.
An animated nyan cat widget (with a mute toggle) would be nice...
Haha I was thinking in some app what make raffles. For example: many people get together at an raffle, then each person gives their numbers to participate, then your Android randomly chooses a number and sends a SMS to the winner.
You can read the numbers from a file.
Clock in notification panel
Hi, I would like to see a clock developed which would sit in the notification panel. There would be an optional icon displayed in the status bar.
I like to keep my wallpaper clean and it would be useful to drop the notification panel down and see a customizeable digital clock. It should open the alarm or calendar When tapped.
Good luck with any project undertaken.

I was just thinking of an app that help me make a reminder for bill, and it must support taking OCR of the bill details.
I know there is one in the market, but doesn't work like what I want.
It should work like the business card reader, where it knows which part is a person's name, which part is the company, which part is the address, the phone, the email, so on and so forth.
This bill app should let me "scan" the bottom part of my bill with the camera, where the payment details are (account number, amount, due date) and set a reminder for me on my google calendar.

i dont think is a hard thing to do but i think is always dependent to the app you use to play music, but is something i can see also.
The main idea of this post is to get ideas base on the needs of nowadays. Like when we are on the street, and we need that app for knowing the nearest grocery or something else wich could make our life easier. If anyone has time to think a little on what they need most, and think is missing, or an app wich they dont think is easy enought, thats mostly what i want to start building. I really liked some ideas here already stated, just 1 more week and i'm ready for building apps.
About porn apps , maybe after the serious stuff for fun lool
What about an app that shows any combination of chosen apps in tabs?
For example, you can put your favorite calendar app and your favorite task planner app in a single tabbed layout.
Or your music player and last.fm scrobbler.
Or Whatsapp, K9 Mail, and your SMS app all in a single three-tabbed meta messaging app.
Or Skype and Viber.
Etc.
It wouldn't take a lot of coding. You just need some code to frame other apps in yours, a settings screen to choose which apps you want to see, and a way to send a shortcut to your home-made app combo to your homescreen. If it's your first app it's a good idea to keep it simple.

[12/2][Trailblazer101] Modified HoloLauncher (for Ticker Call Screen)

XjokiX7: Lol, it took me a long time to figure out smali, since I didn't want to learn Java first haha... I've said this before though, a good place to start would be looking at, say, the ticker, in action, and then look at the smali files for it... That way, you get a good picture of what smali code does what! Of course, it doesn't help when there's a lot of files for the ticker in services, but you can combat that with common sense and some detective skills
ciscogee: I know this is probably late, but how was moving!
Oh, and to both roaddog665 and XjokiX7, i freaking love Swiftkey Flow, haha I enjoy the "just keep going" feature, with not having to lift your finger up between words it's crazzyyyy!
Oh Oh, I added in a custom section for the Ticker within TSMParts for all the different settings I'm creating... Some option include turning on/off and customizing the Quick Launch screen, changing the sleep text, and what I am working on now is having options to remove/hide the weather icon/history button It's not ready to be released though, i'm just keeping you posted

and you can do it by swiping your word, then DON'T take your finger off of the keyboard and swipe to the space bar... Then, still without lifting a finger, go back up and swipe your next word... It takes some getting used to, but it seems like it's going to be a huge time saver

[APP][2.2+]: Sweep Texting

Sweep Texting allows users to receive, view, and send text messages, all without touching their phones. It uses the proximity sensor to implement intuitive gestures: you can sweep down your screen as though you're giving permission for the app to "come" to you and display itself. An alert dialog will then pop up with the text message and you can reply to it within the dialog itself (you don't have to switch out of the app you're currently using). Then, when you want to send the message, you simply sweep up as though you're commanding the text message to "go away" and send itself.
Since the app is completely touch-free (with the exception of typing in your actual message), it is extremely useful in hands-free situations where looking at the screen and switching through multiple screens to access messages may be a hazard (driving, for instance). The app also gives users a nice futuristic feel to their text messaging experience and allows them to customize it with multiple color schemes.
FULL LIST OF FEATURES:
--Sweep down to view a text message after it arrives.
--Sweep up to send your reply back to whoever you're texting.
--Tap on your message to go directly to your Inbox.
--Supports multiple messages from different senders.
--Supports messages longer than one text message.
--Hide a message and then sweep down to view it again at a later time.
--Choose between Holo styled (ICS only) or five different dialog colors.
--Choose between five different text balloon colors.
--Toggle to disable in Landscape mode.
--Toggle to enable/disable "Message Sent" sound.
--Enable/Disable toggle so you can turn off the app's features when you don't need it.
APP: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.FlightGear.SweepTextingFree
UPDATE: More color schemes added! Check it out!

Yeah, I could only find Intents that work with the stock messaging app when a text comes in. I'm actually working on porting it over with Google Voice and other 3rd party messaging apps are on my to-do list. I'll let you know when the updates become available.
And "Dismiss" is supposed to mark a message as read (so you won't be able to access it). If you want to be able to access a message after you view it, you should use the "Hide" button (that's what it's for). Glad you like the app though!

Are you using one of the custom color schemes? I don't think they have support for the "Hide" button (I couldn't get the dialog to accept more than one button for some weird reason... prolly an SDK bug). Try using the Holo theme. You can see from my screenshots that there actually is a "Hide" button for the Holo theme. Hope this helps!
Also, if you like the app, please consider sharing it with your friends/leaving a rating and review on Google Play. That'll help support future development of this app. Thanks!

I don't think activities can be shown on the lockscreen. The text message dialogs are individual activities so I don't think I can place them on the lockscreen. If I do find a way though, I'll implement that into the app. Thanks for the tip!

k cool, i would also like to pint out that if you are using a alt messaging app that has an option to wake upon receiveing a text enabled the app works fine, though if it wakes to the lockscreen and is in your pocket at the time you receive a text then this app wont respond to any sweeping after unlocking until you receive another text (unless of course the same scenario happens at which case you'd have to open the text normally) now if there is a way for it to ignore all sweeping over the sensor while at lockscreen then this would be fixed but as im not an app dev idk what you can and cant do, maybe something to look into maybe a waste of time idk, just the only thing that i can think of that would provide a nice work around

Also, the price of the app has been reduced by 25% ($1.50). It has also been released in most European Union countries, so if you weren't able to download it before because of country limitations, you can get it now (as long as you're in the EU)!

Does your app do something that using Google Maps w/ starred locations doesn't do?
If I go somewhere and think I might be so unfamiliar with the area that I might not be able to locate my car, I star the location I've parked at then use that when I leave wherever I went to easily find my spot.
It kind of sounds like your app does this too, but as its only feature?

Probably not. The only difference I imagine is that the app does it just by pushing buttons. It actually uses Google maps for directions. Sorry if that's disappointing for you haha
