How to properly run an ruu
in order to run the new 3.4 kernel you will need to install the latest jelly bean firmware.. This is how i did it and the easiest way i know how..Please do not sharp shoot my directions as i am dooing this off sheer memory so it may be a little fuzzy ... If you dont under stand something you can find it with a little google search ... lets get started:
I will not be held responsible for your phone do at your own risk
required items:
A windows computer.( you can not to my knowledge run an ruu with linux)
fastboot installed on your pc ( adb/fastboot)
the 2.35 or similar depending on your provider but you want to stay in the ice cream sandwich version ruu designed for your phone make sure it is the correct one or it will not work and may cause severe damage..(i have no link for this as i will not be the reason you flashed the wrong one sorry your on your own finding it)
htc usb drivers easiest way to install is htc sync (htc sync will automaticly install the drivers you need)
SETTING THINGS UP:
You will need to extract the ruu if it is in zip format(it needs to be a basic exe file(i always just keep it on my desktop for easy access)
boot your phone into boot loader and select fastboot this is where everything will happen.
navigate to where you have your fastboot installed in your terminal on your pc.
ITS TIME TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
using a usb 2.0 cable(3.0 will not work) connect your phone and wait for it to say 'fastboot usb'
Now lets re lock the boot loader type ' fastboot oem relock your phone should reboot
navigate back to boot loader select fastboot again
now while in fastboot usb go to your selected ruu and double click it (this will take some time to load)
follow the on screen instructions to navigate through the ruu..
if you get errors you probably didnt get the right ruu for your device.
Thats it now you will be 100% stock
GETTING THE UPDATE:
boot your phone wait a few minutes and check for ota updates in about phone.
you will likley not get the jellybean update first so be sure you take the couple updates and that you are running jellybean sense before you root again.
YOU ARE DONE
I do not recommend going and flashing the jellybean ruu because if you have problems you can not flash an ruu lower than your current hboot
NOW ROOT YOUR PHONE

I Highly Highly recomend getting kernel tuner and disableing vsync in misc..... all jitter lag freeze gone.... i will disable it in source asap...

I'm so happy you guys have collaborated on this.
It was literally yesterday I posted in the Q&A asking when we might see Linux 3.4 for AOSP. Everyone else I have seen using 3.4 has seen vast improvements compared to older versions.
I will be more than willing to test this everystep of the way, in fact I'm about to flash it right now!
EDIT:
Wiped everything about 5 times, flashed in recovery, rebooted flasheed boot.img in bootloader, rebooted and it was still on splash screen after about 5 minutes?
Dirty flashed and working now

This and a Sense 5 port coming?! Things are moving quite fast now for our loved device. Can't wait to try a stable release.

Awesome rom !!!!

I am experiencing very regular reboots roughly every 10 minutes.
What voltages is it running stock 1150mV for all frequencies? My phone is very sensitive but still excited to help get this thing going!

Certainly did, and it has successfully disabled. Just getting very frequent reboots. I might try another fresh install but I think its just my phone being extra temper mental.

Its the kernel at this point ..its not quite stable yet... Although it is the kernel made by htc for our phone there are a lot of factors here... Try ondemand gov.. Tinker in kernel tuner this is beta so if you find a way to make it more stable please tell... Disable hw overlays and those things in dev options like we used to..

Once I start building linaro I will post in the second post if any one wants to try custom versions otherwise in each ROM I will only add what's committed to repo to keep it stock for every one...I know that's the way you cm users like it.... All cm all the time lol.

SalvageMod is a AOSP project developed by myself, Barnacles10, and echoside.
This software is built from the Android open source project 2.3.5 branch.
We are offering 1.4 both odex and deodex. Keep in mind, most themers theme deodex ROMs.
Make sure to choose what the google add-on that corresponds with your ROM choice.

Its aosp. They all work.
Downloading now.
I achieved a Quadrant score of 1460 with the last build. I'll report back after flash and restore.
Great job man. I'm just curious. Did you odex post-build or did you compile Rom with an odex option? Ive been playing with Rom building for some time now and have only messed with sense. I managed to build a stock aosp Rom the other day but would like to learn more about aosp building. Feel free to pm because I feel this post is off-topic. Thanks man.
Now that I have root again I might have to give this a go (would be first aosp Rom).

will there be any updates to the kernal? I'm not sure if HTC releasing source code changes anything...
Also does this rom still have the problem with the sensors that plagued the cm and deck roms?
Hmmm... No Go. After several attempts installing the fedex version; I restored V1.3. I was never able to boot past the htc EVO 4G screen.

Being an AOSP ROM, these do not rely on the HTC kernel code release. There are any of several fine kernels to choose from, so its virtually always possible to find one that your phone likes.
Regarding the 'problem with the sensors', can you elaborate on that? I've used a couple versions of the Evo-deck ROM and have yet to experience any issue.
I look forward to trying this ROM! For some reason, I couldn't get the 1.3 to run on my phone, but that could have been a bad download or similar issue. I was just too busy at that time. But I read so much good about the SalvageMod...I gotta give it a go!
Thank you for your time.
P.S: Thank you for offering the community both odex and deodex versions! I love themes, but the odex ROMs run way quicker on my phone.
Looks good I'll give it a try later.
Thanks lit.

I noticed there was a 1.4 deodexed Gapps package, but I didn't see one for 1.4 odexed.
I am assuming to use the odexed gapps that were already posted, but wanted to double check.

Ah, I did run into this problem occasionally. I also found that when I would press the power button to wake the phone up when asleep I had to hold the power button down for a few seconds or it wouldn't wake up. I was using the SZ 2.2.1 kernel at the time, and later found that I experienced these things when using the smartass or SavageZen governors. I switched to InteractiveX and didn't experience them any more.
Thank you for your time.
Dang, lithid, I was just about to flash & test your kernel with the Synergy RLS-1 rom and then I saw this: Salvage-Mod 1.4....I was like, "WHAT!" ...Oh well, your new kernel can wait...hahaha.......flashing the latest Salvage-Mod cannot wait. Thank you.

Hey guys, so recently I've been looking for resources and stuff and I found this rom called LeWa Os. It's similar to MIUI in terms of themes, customization, initial theme when you first flash it, but it's based on CM7 so it has CM features. I took the time to port it to our beloved Sensation and will do my best to fix out the remaining bugs... It's running on Android 2.3 and has awesome eyecandy + fluid performance ...
It's based on the only CM7 build that I can find for the sensation:
Code:
update-cm-7.1.0-SelfKANG1-Sensation-signed
This list shows a little of it's awesomeness, there are too many features to list...
If you press on Statusbur, softkeys will appear
Swipe up to open apps drawer
Miui like toggles in statusbar
*Oh yea* There is a task killer button in the statusbar
*Miui Like* SO many themes to customize
Included power manager app
Stylish slider to accept/reject calls
Smooth ROM!
Did I mention the charging animation!
Datamanager included in statusbar
ICS Transitions
Too many!
Bugs:
IDK, I didn't test this, so if any brave soul could test it I would appreciate that!
Installation:

No I haven't worked on any of the bugs yet... But this is based on alpha 10 so I think they might be fixed: Taken from the CM forums:
The current buglist:
-Recording 1080p video for a couple minutes causes a soft reboot
-Misc Browser crashes (CM bug)
-Zoom issues in Camera
Other than those (relatively) minor bugs, this rom is perfect.

Can't wait to get home and flash this. 82mb? Really?

This ROM is very pleasent surprise...stick with CM7 not with CM9 because there are a lot of various cm9 editions of all flavoirs...what is needed is cm7 base ROMs.
I will give a try...for now, on Hyperdroid cm7...in the future, on Lewa certainly.
What is this roms bugs?

Good to have another Sensation chef in the kitchen!
Well after putting my mind to it, I finished my attempt at porting a CM7 rom to CM9 and now I'm scared to try it :/ (I'm a wimpy chef, I know )
So I think I'll just keep it at CM7 since no one has anymore of those roms anymore and it seems like gingerbread is more stable...
So for those who have ICS now, downgrade:
tragik74 said:
downgrade is very complicated.

downgrade firmware to 1.17
flash GB rom or run GB RUU

Alright so all of us have ICS, recovery, and s-off, so all we have to do is flash the first firmware in this post (1.17) and flash this ROM...
So on to the bugs. From my first port for the Atrix I had the following:
1. PC didn't detect phone on USB, only can charge from wall...
2. Boot animation, lock screen, and music player aren't scaled...
3. SD manager fcs... (It's a lame version of miui file manager)
1. It shouldn't do that on this ROM, but if it does I'll look into it and see if my friend can help me fix it like he helped on the Atrix...
2. So I'll work on scaling the the boot ani, and lock screen, and I'll just replace the music plaer...
3. Just remove it and replace with the actual miui file manager...

xkonni, this isn't a logcat-able bug:
The echo issue from CM9 is present again. Basically, when you talk to someone on the phone, they can hear an echo of themselves (note I said themselves, not YOU). You sound fine to them, and they sound fine to you, but each time that person speaks, they hear themselves echoing many times on their end.
Someone said that it wasn't present on 7/22 but WAS on 7/25. I cannot confirm or deny this. However, I was running 7/25 when I encountered it.
I believe you're familiar with this one, as I spoke to you last time when I first discovered it for CM9.
Keep up the great work.

[ROM]MIUI-2.8.17 JB Grouper v0.1 Alpha By Jmotyka and Droid_Vicious!
EDIT: This is going to be a co-development by me and droid_vicious. He is working his magic now.
Let me introduce myself. I'm jmotyka and im no developer, i am a graphic designer and android themer/enthusiast. I used to be a well known themer for the Nexus One and worked along side of Manup456. I have been out of the theming and developing seen for a while until now, i am very rusty. This is my first step into the android world again. I have many friends/devs that will help out when needed. I am a very busy man i dont have much time to develop, so please bare with me if i go on a multi-day hiatus. This rom is not and will not be my priority. I expect people to show some respect to me and others in this thread. If there is any sign of flamage in this thread rom development will immediately be halted and removed.

6. Wipe Data
7. Reboot and DERP
Working:
Everything as far as i can tell.
Not Working:
Dont know yet, but everything seems to be fine as of right now
TODO List:
1; Remove Recovery
2. Finish English Translations
3. Add Reboot Menu
4. Add Custom Kernel
5. Find the best DPI for the rom and device.
Notes:
This rom actually comes from china. The only thing i did was change some build.prop stuff to get it functioning. To start off for some odd reason who ever developed the rom in china left the DPI to 310 and it looked horrible, so i set it to 213 which is the groupers standard dpi, it looked much better but the drop down notification window was getting cut off, so i decided to set it to 240 which looks great IMHO. This is by far not the final product. I am by no means a skilled developer but i am a tinkerer and if i run into issues usually i can fix them.
Important Notes
1)This rom for what ever reason has a recovery baked in. I recommend running cwm because cwm will let you SKIP the recovery flashing. I have not had time to remove this yet but i will. DONT ACCEPT THE RECOVERY FLASH BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF ITS OK OR NOT. I don't see why it would be a problem because this rom was developed for the N7.
2)I AM NOT TO BLAME IF YOU FLASH THIS AND YOU NEXUS 7 BLOWS UP. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED

I installed but all in Chinese How to get English?
So is this like a big Galaxy Nexus edition of MIUI or was this tailored to Nexus 7?

Anyone else flashed this yet? I was waiting for MIUI to become available before I rooted my Nexus 7.

Running great for me. I froze the dialer and the Chinese app store and its running smooth. Lock screen is huge and keyboard runs in phone mode, but I'm finding it easier to type on than stock.

What does that mean? Is that a good or bad thing? Screenshot please?
Also I noticed in the first screenshot it says "No service" at the top left corner. Does it always say that? Can that be removed and/or edited? Thanks!
I am kind of reluctant to root my Nexus 7 because I don't know if I can still receive official Google updates on Android if I root it or if I can even unroot it.
Sure
Fills the screen but does not overlap.
Here's a screen of the keyboard.
Regarding your other concerns I would say go ahead and root. With the toolkits available it is very easy to flash back to stock, unroot, and relock the bootloader if needed.

Thanks! I'm going to take a deep breath, root my Nexus 7 now and flash MIUI
Working on v0.2 right now. It will have the recovery removed. And it will be in english by default. Super user will replace permission manager. Hold tight.

Top secret butter recipe
Obviously you can't text or use phone so don't even try, but other than that every thing will be gravy.
Also be sure to thank droidvicious for working on a ROM that he doesn't even have a device for.
Thanks for the help. I now have English.
But, I think I lost root.Rom manager hangs with error as does Titanium. I tried to get back to cwm but for the life of me I cannot boot back into it. If I could I would fix permissions there. But again. I may have lost root?
Fixed. Went to permission mgr and all seems to be good again.
OMG you are the most amazing person every. I love you (No Homo)
If you need help with something such as default language english and all that stuff i can help out. Also you can change the size to stock by modding the services.jar and androidpolicy.jar file. Im going to expiriment a bit, thanks so much again.
Edit
You are so amazing, i noticed you are using mediafire? If you want the next build you can send it to me and i can upload it to my site for direct download links. I have unlimited bandwidth so its no problem for me.
thanks for creating a v0.2 so efficiently, the recovery issue has been driving me crazy the past few hours!
Hyperrunner is here? If he starts helping out with this ROM, I might forget all my issues with MIUI and run this exclusively! I'm definitely gonna be keeping a close eye on this thread

[ROM][Flo][12/2/14] - Factory Stock Rooted ROM - LRX22C - Android 5.0.1! Lollipop!

AS the name implies this is a stock rooted Android 5.0.1 Lollipop ROM!
The one we have been waiting for!
Features
100% Stock
Rooted
Busybox

FSTRIM on install
Powered by SuperSU
Notes:
Should update bootloader. It is attached as a ZIP file but is not flashable! You need to fastboot flash it. For those in windows I have batch file in there along with ADB and fastboot.
First boot is a loooooooooooong time! About 5 to 7 minutes!
You must be on TWRP 2.8.1.0+ for this ROM to Flash properly!
Troubleshooting
If you get no status bar reboot to recovery and clear all cache. If that doesnt work try flashing the factory image then flash TWRP again and then this ROM.
Getting Symlinks failed during install? Make sure /system is unchecked in TWRP mounts
Problems with internal storage? Look at THIS POST for fix by @freakzapster
Root not working right? Flash newer SuperSU by @Chainfire but play store update should be fine!

Let me know what you guys think... They changed some things around and I am "semi" anticipating problems. Obviously I had zero testing time beings I started on it as soon as I got out of work and upload it after a very minimal function test: Play Store, Hangouts, GPS, Maps and that was it.
Let me know if you see any issues.
Well that was fast!
Apart from updated binaries any other noticeable changes?
Thanks! Been waiting for this one ☺.
You mention in OP updating bootloader- what version is required? Say I'm on ver 4.02, do I need to update it?
Downloading now...

Sorry... I put the bootloader in the op and you should be on 4.04.
You can prolly get buy with 4.02, many people did on the initial 5.0.0. release.

I'm at "Android is upgrading", so dirty flash over 5.0 rooted stock seems to have worked OK.

Normally me too , but I figured since it was only a minor update and I was already running the same stock 5.0.0 ROM I'd give it a try. Eveything seems fine so far. No issues at all yet.
Flashed ROM , works great. Ty scrosler
Edit: Sadly tons of 3rd party apps still haven't been updated for Lollipop even after almost 1 month since it was released. Minion Rush and Dead Trigger 2 still work like I have a 2009 device. It's the app's fault or Lollipop's hardware acceleration or memory management, but I am 80% sure that it's because those apps haven't been updated. They work fine for 2 seconds then another 2-3 seconds they go into slow motion mode and sadly I have to go back to KK until this is fixed
Dirty flashed over stock rooted 5.0.0... No issues... And no noticeable differences between both, so far.
Are there any problems if we use CWM instead of TWRP? I'm not a TWRP kid of guy...
Thanks.
So it looks like YouTube mediaplayer is fixed and (at last!) volume control on animated gifs in Instagram works properly (previously it was changing notifications level not media). Hopefully WiFi connection will be also stable but this needs a longer testing.
TY scrosler.
Ok, flashed one hour ago, maked the wipes and all pretty smooth here.
Scott youre the master! As always
Running perfect, but I didn't have a problem with 5.0 either.
If this fixes YouTube I'll be pleased as punch :thumbup:
