Im looking for a rom that has the 3 navigation keys at the bottom of the screen, and disable the touch sensitive buttons, preferably a Touch wiz ROM, im tired of watching a video and hitting the back button and losing my spot

if youre set on staying with tw, theres a way to add the nexus nav bar by editing the build prop.
dont know how, youd have to search though.
This is pretty easy to do, I've only tested on AOSP roms like CM10.1 though. I doubt this would work with a TouchWiz rom.
First DO A NANDROID BACKUP.
Then get the Build Prop Editor from the Play store.
Then use that to set
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
If you can't find that entry then add it and set to zero.
Then reboot, should be all it takes.
Then you might want to remove the back-lighting from the hardware buttons. If you do:
System Settings -> Advanced -> Sensors -> Uncheck "Enable keys backlight"

Rom is very smooth. Currently i am testing the clean tools and few things dont work .
Mapping the recent apps button to menu doesnt work
And disabling the 3dot menu doesnt work . It just keeps coming ...
I will keep testing

Still trying to get a menu button, the hardware key settings in clean tools seems to be fouled. Set menu to long press home it works, three dot menu still present in apps however, custom text on lock screen doesn't work, loop scroll home pages doesn't work, custom background image quick settings doesn't work.
Will test more tom.

I can also confirm the remapping issue with the "recent apps" hw button.
Any chance to add in the app drawer dimensions as a choice?
This is looking really good, I've been waiting for a new cleanrom to come out, thanks for all the work!
Flashed and testing.
1) Battery percent icon, numbers could be thicker like the 4.1 SE battery. Hard to read.
2) Hide operator name in status bar all the time as an option would be nice, not just lockscreen.
3) Set Recent apps button to Menu. Doesn't do anything. Set long press to Menu also does nothing.
4) Would like to change the app drawer. I like more items, but some might like 4x5 or whatever instead, like stock.
Did some other settings, like no animation on unlock, quick settings as recent with no current alerts and other options, seems to be working.
That is just what I found off the bat.
Will report back with more.
Otherwise, I really like where this is heading!!!

Its just finicky to say the least. But it does appear the Menu option will not work at this time but the other options do seem to be working.
Keep the bugs coming.
It would appear from the screen caps that this is using the stock ICS multitasking. Does that mean it's fixed???!!!???
captiva button mods dont seem to be working ( unless a reboot is required after selecting something ) although no pop up shows stating this.

Hello!
I've got a problem with my Desire.
Few days ago, my digitizer got damaged. I've got about 5mm of inactive touchscreen on the top. This makes notification bar inoperable (i have to rotate phone to open it). I want to buy new phone anyway, but I will use Desire as long as it will work.
So here's my idea to map Search button to notifications. I'm not using this button anyway.
Is there any way to do this? My phone is rooted, running on custom rom based on Android 4.2.2
Help me please!
I think exposed addition has that option. Just get the installer and u can download the module from the app.
Another option is launchers with gestures, i used go and apex, they have such option, u can set slide down for notification or double tap.
Cheers....
Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk 2
Sounds interesting, gonna try this framework!
Also, I've got Apex onboard right now, but I'm afraid gestures will not work when I've got another application in foreground. Worth trying anyway.
Thanks for now!
Checked out both suggestions, and none worked well...
Apex - as I said before: Gestures aren't global - works only in main screen
Xposed Additions - there's such option in this module, but i can't see any notifications-related There's also paid version of Additions but I'm not into buying yet.
Any further ideas?
Sent from my Desire S using xda app-developers app
Yes, u are right, should have checked before suggesting xposed addition, they dont have such feature u wanted.
Since u have xposed, you can try Gravitybox. See if they have such funtion in their keyremap. They also have option to enable nav bar and pie.
Lmt, if i remember correctly, if i click on the clock on pie, the notification bar came down.
Sorry, currently on an old rom so cant test but only able to give blind suggestions.
Thank You again. I've installed GravityBox, and partly achieved my goal - I mapped notifications to menu button. There's no option to map anything to "Search" button, but I'll try to do it another way though.

1. Go to Settings, Display, and uncheck the Double-tap to wake option.
2. Go to Settings, Buttons. and make sure Enable on-screen nav bar is selected. After that go to Settings, Interface, then under Navigation Bar select the Buttons and layout option. from there you can customize the icons.
Just got my OPO too, upgrading from Cyanogen 10.2 on my last phone so I'll add a couple questions.
1. Where is the default Android browser? I only see Chrome (I like to use both for different purposes)
2. Where is Google Now? I thought it should show up on the left hand home screen by default but I don't see it.

1. Chrome is the default browser of kit kat. If your rooted u can install the AOSP browser with an app from play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mkrtchyan.aospinstaller
2. Google Now works off the on screen buttons as usual. For swipe left use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.launcher
Also check for a setting on stock launcher for it, I use Nova on mine and can't check my phone now.

Thanks, yeah I figured out the stock browser was dropped in KitKat after I posted that question. I like having a second browser so I may try Firefox, Next and/or UC Browser as an alternative to the AOSP one.

I do too. Thing is I'm always hitting "Just Once" because I never set a default browser for links?

Would like to know if its possible? I rather Softkeys and disable capacitive buttons, just my preference; however nothing seems to work. Modifying build.prop does nothing and enabling navigation bar through Gravity Xposed causes SystemUI crashes.
Sorry NO. I tried via gravitybox but got fc system all the time device couldn't boot up properly. Had to uninstall all the xposed and reinstall again
Ok thank you for the response guess we need to wait a little longer when there is another method available.
Are you rooted, I know the note 2 you could edit the build prop. also there is an xsposed module , I forgot what its is called softkeys or something.

Yes I'm rooted, I tried editing build prop through ES File explorer and Xposed but nothing brings up the soft keys.
That stinks, sorry about that. I just searched and this guy says that there is an app in the play store you can use, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_eJbLeZtSs It looks like the stock soft keys but i know its not exactly what you looking for, but the video shows it functions the same.

yes I tried that app however it blocks content that sits behind the bar and it gets annoying lol. Funny thing is I was able to turn off the capacitive buttons while keeping the home button working but for the life of me I just can't get anything app or mod or xposed to bring up the navigation bar.

this link is for the S4 but maybe it might help http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...sable-capacitative-keys-enable-soft-keys.html

Yes, I added that entire line exact then rebooted and nothing. No navigation bar even the when I go back to the buid prop I see that the line is still there. Thanks
I'd also like to know if this is possible, sick of pressing the hardware buttons by mistake, I tried editing the build prop and trying to force it through gravity box but the latter caused the system ui to constantly crash so I had to restore my backup.

i was used (like almost a year and a half) to lock my phone with the middle (circle) navigation bar - just long press on it and move my finger up.
after the 13.1 update i just cant find this feautre, has it gone?
Set the middle button as double tap to turn screen off, and have instant lock.

I was in same exact situation after upgrading to Marshmallow. The thing you used to use is called Navigation Ring Targets. Marshmallow removed this functionality in favor of long press Now on tap which I personally hate (don't ask why). So, after that, on Marshmallow I started using Greenify's "Long-press action on nav-bar" option. Just install Greenify, go to Settings, select that option and follow the steps. You'll be set plus you cal also save some precious battery life . I use Fling Nav bar available on various custom ROMs which beyond perfect if you set it up correctly.

I actually don't know about COS 13.1 but every CM based ROM or for that matter AOSP based ROM I've used, had this option. Just search for "Sound" in Settings, if it is there, you're good to go, if not, then I don't know. Even if it is there, it might not work with Greenify's screen off method.
