With this ROM build, I will be leveraging @stas2z's work as much as possible. @stas2z's ROM is also contending for the MIUI contest, and I'd like to see him win. By making minimal changes to this ROM build, we will be contributing to the activation count on MIUI servers.
That does have a side effect. IQ446 is a device with hardware keys. Because of which, the qemu.hw.mainkeys is always activated for the base ROM. You need to either always go and deactivate it or else, stick with Ultimate Dynamic Navbar
But there's some good effects also. By not fiddling much, we can leverage the system updates that @stas2z releases. Be careful though in your updates. Always assess the changes before you apply. And as usual, take a backup first.
I'd also like to mention the help @vizhigal has provided. This wouldn't have happened without his contribution. Thank you.
Download and Installation Instructions

Thanks a ton @somberi. This is great news. This weekend has been great for me too. I just got (as I write) another build of MIUI (Lenovo A820) ported onto this device. And sound just works. Need to test the rest of the stuff.
With this whole MIUI porting, it has been a great experience learning all this stuff. I have been an android user since 2009 (Galaxy S GT-I9000) but never fiddled around because GT-I9000 had an awesome developer base. I am too happy to have learnt these stuff. Though sometimes painful, they were fun too.... THANK YOU to @somberi and @Dark4Droid (Sam Solomon).
@RickyGoldsmith - You could put this on the first post, or integrate into the rom on the next release.

Unfortunately due to lack of space in the / system package is not installed so I'm trying to solve with a custom rom ready with at least the main app like Google Playstore.
I made a custom rom with basic applications such as installation of Google when you first start, the market PlayStore google search and disregarding the other because of the limited space we have in the system.
I managed to move some apps that were in system / app data / app recovering some space now we have just about 18 Mb. While about 50 mb for the app still available.
Better than that for the moment I could not do.

All is okay. u8652 is just like the u8650 except it's a prepaid ATT Gophone.
Thanks for your Work
I've been using your rom since Ver 3 and thank you for your contribution.
It has been running pretty well so far but the phone gets slow at times. Probably due to all the programs I put on it.
I have noticed one problem....not sure why it happens. It occurred in the other 2 versions also.
The stock launcher get replaced by Nova or Trebuchet on its own. I go to settings and there is no way to remove the default launcher.
I even used Home Switcher and right now Launcher disappeared on its own...no longer listed in apps or anywhere else. I'll try to get more info if you need it.
You mention CWM ver 6 in your instructions but I have not found it for this phone anywhere. I'm using 4.0.4 now.
Do you recommend the ver 6? If so where can it be downloaded from?
Once again, thank you. I'll keep on flashing and give the ROM a good test.

Thanks for the mention. I now have a customer running this ROM.
Setting Debug-> BC 4330/20780 to "Enable" and reboot the phone if any problem may also help.
The latest free version of Spirit FM is always at the top here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059296
Not yet posted, but August 14 and later versions should automatlcally set Audio-> Method and the BC 4330...
"Region Band ----> EUROPE" is only for Europe of course. Default is North America.
"Output Device ----> Headset" isn't needed.
"Output Mode ----> blend Auto": does this enable stereo ? The free version is usually Mono, but I may change that.
No sd-ext found
I've had this issue several times while running BETA 5:
I noticed it when doing a backup from CWM.
Also, at times some apps that were moved to the SDCard give error "app not installed".
Rebooting seems to fix the issue with apps missing sometimes.
This somehow seems related to moving apps to SD.....but I'm not experienced enough to be sure.
I have manually created the partitions from CWM and reflashed Beta 5 and the issue still occurs.
I bought a new SD card and installed it yesterday....same problem.
Not sure if this is related to this ROM, my phone U8652, or something I'm doing wrong.
There was also an issue with the launcher that I posted about earlier. I'm running Nova this time and so far that is okay.
Thanks for the link to CWM 6....its installed and working fine on my phone.
JB CM 10 for u8650 ehehehhe

Still too early to publish it so for the moment no download ..

GThrill ROM for JIAYU G3
The latest version GThrill ROM is based on "CM10" rom from needrom.com. I have applied some tweaks, removed some apps, added some and added option for the selection of EN (ph, us) language. The original purpose was for personal use, but I thought to share it, in case anyone wants to try.

First of all tkank you for the development of this awsome rom. I don´t know if what I´m asking is possible, but why don´t you contact JDStar, who has developed another multilanguage lewa rom and ask him for permissions to add the tranaslations to your rom? This is the link to his rom:

CMW recovery flashed but no go
Hi there,
I tried to get into the newly flashed CWMR but somehow I've failed. What I've done is use mobileuncle tools to get into CWM 5 and from there flash the zipfile I've downloaded from the sources. Now the CWM app does boot into recovery but I get this little android figure with a ! from it's belly. Not good I suppose.
I'd realy like to try out this rom but without working recovery I'm a bit scared I'm going to brick the thing....
Could you please advise??
Greetings,
Andreas
i use gthrill for a couple of days and the only problem i have is that when i open the wifi after some time the signal in one of my two sim drop....
i have it in all roms i try...
Installed last night.
Looks nice, work fine, stable. Well done
I have only one issue.
USB won't work.
When Jiayu is connected to PC, USB storage is not recognised. Any solution for this?

Drivers are ok. Tried every single port. Worked fine 2 days ago - Jiayu was with ICS 4.0.4.
Not recognised as a mass storage.

Didn't work. Got it working using the dd method (way easier if you ask me ).
Now, I've installed CWM 5.5.0.4 in /dev/recovery but when trying to flash the zip file for the LewaOS rom it gives me 'cannot open file'. Is that because I need the newer version of CWM mentioned in the opening post? Or just something else? Perhaps because there's 'spaces' in the filename? I'll let you know if I find something out there !
** Update **
I downloaded the correct rom but still no go It just doesn't want to install the rom...

Hi
Reflashed again.
Everything is fine.
I think is slower than original ICS 4.0.4 ROM, but stable and good.
Keep up good work!
***Update:***
Battery life much improved, at least 15-20%
I found this ROM very good so far.
There's only small issue with some mobile web sites. Some of the links cannot be open.
I've installed Opera browser in addition but is exactly the same so
I'm not sure: maybe there is a problem in ROM or badly written mobile web sites.
Thanks a lot

We've done it! Thanks to the androidarmv6 team's work, and the great people over at Team Simplicit(Especially Olivier, as he got it working on the Wildfire S and a couple other devices),
we now have a functional KitKat rom for the ChaCha!
This rom SHOULD now be daily driver ready. Please leave feedback on any issues.
I will also note that it takes a rather long time to boot. I don't know if it will stay this way or not, so don't ask.
And lastly, I recommend leaving the device for at least a minute after first boot, before going through the setup wizard. Otherwise it will be very laggy.

RECOVERY
Recovery gets built with rom, I will update this anytime the recovery is changed.
Current Version is 6.0.5.3
Download Here | Mirror
How to flash recovery:
Terminal Method:
Stick the "recovery.img" file on the root of your sdcard. Open a terminal emulator, and type:
Code:
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
After typing "su" you'll want to allow terminal emulator root access.
Fastboot method:
Stick the "recovery.img" file in the same directory as your fastboot executable binary.
Put your phone in fastboot mode.
Open a command prompt and use the fastboot tool to type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
PH06IMG.zip method:
Put your phone in fastboot mode, and use the fastboot tool to type:
Code:
fastboot getvar all
You'll want to make note of the "version-main" value, the "cidnum" value, the "modelid" value, and the "hbootpreupdate" value.
Stick the "recovery.img" file in a folder somewhere, and create a new text document called "android-info.txt"
Put the values you noted earlier into the "android-info.txt" in the following format(this one works for my device):
Code:
modelid: PH0613000
cidnum: TELUS001
mainver: 1.60.0.0
hbootpreupdate: 12
note that "mainver" is the value you noted earlier from "version-main".
Now zip the "recovery.img" and the "android-info.txt" together, and name it "PH06IMG.zip"
Put that file on the root of your sdcard, and reboot into the bootloader. It should detect the zip, and ask you to update. choose yes, and you're off to the races!

Installing Steps:
1) I Tried to install the Recovery using the boot loader method but it failed with an error "CID incorrect, update fail”.
So i used fast boot Method with my PC & this command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img”
2) Installed The Rom
3) Installed “CronMod-INT2EXTV2+_signed.zip” (Great INT2ext mod to increase internal Memory form SD card, now 1.5GB)
The system Feels good, but i couldn’t live with it without updating the minimum CPU frequency to 245 MHZ
Problems i faced At my first look
System:
Wifi & Hotspot NOT working
Bluetooth NOT working
USB Mass Storage Mode (UMS) NOT working ( I can Not connect my phone to the pc with any mean )
3G Stop working after WAKE - I Must Manually disable and re-enable it
Battery Still Testing
Apps:
Camera image is rotated !
Phone app buttons really needs to be reorganised
Keyboard:
@ and ~ are misplaced , should be switched (FN+y) with (FN+p)
No Number “0”
Lang, & Facebook Keys are not Functional
No Arabic Keyboard
Overall, Very Good for a First Build. I am Excited to Test the Next Build and i am ready for Testing

Keep in mind, this is absolutely NOT a stable release. entirely a testing/dev release.
That having been said, if you want to start the efforts of working on a new kernel, I certainly wouldn't complain, and I'd even try my best to help.

It's certainly possible. I don't know if I'll do it to my own fork of the currently used kernel, or if maybe Olivier will do it, but I will definitely look into it in the next few days, see what I can come up with. I have found a patch used on a samsung device that uses the msm7227 like our device, so as long as it's similar enough, and still works with kitkat, it shouldn't be too hard.
No promises though

Ah ok great.
Anyway, the biggest downside of the custom roms for the Chacha is the bad keyboard integration. If you compare it with a Nokia E71, the original ROM is already bad. But if you use a custom ROM, than you are lacking even more keyboard shortcuts (especially when handling calls). So I guess improving this would be the best thing for this phone.
But let's see... whatever you decide it's great there there is still so much work going on for this phone!

Unfortunately, I can only judge by the English keyboard configurations, because I don't know any other languages xD
But the next build(which, if all goes well, will be later this afternoon/evening) will have the keyboard configs the same as the other recent custom roms, primarily the ones by adlx.xda, as it's his repos we got the configs from.
But after I release this new update, if you tell me what's wrong with the keyboard specifically, I may be able to help out a little.
ohh finally ! , how good of you , i will try it sure and tell you if there is anything wrong .. but is the kernel support swap ? , and the keyboard support arabic language and the buttons ? thanks alot

no, however it is recommended, and I can't guarantee that future releases of the rom won't require it.

1.5. Read "Known Issues/Bugs" below
2. Turn off device then reboot into recovery (Volume Up + Volume Down + Power). If you get a prompt asking you whether or not to leave /system unmodified, swipe on allow.
3. Wipe your data by going into Wipe > Advanced, then check all boxes except for MicroSD Card.
4. Go back to home then Install. Navigate to where you stored the CM12.1, Gapps, and SuperSU (optional) zips. You can either keep them in an SD Card (recommended) or adb push them.
5. Select the zips in this order
- Cyanogenmod 12.1
- Gapps
- SuperSU (optional)
6. Cross your fingers and swipe to flash! If all goes well then it will flash successfully.
7. Click on Wipe Cache/Dalvik, then swipe to wipe.
8. Reboot
9. Profit! You now have Cyanogenmod 12.1 on your HP Slate 21!

Changelog:
Version 20160109:
- Added modified bootloader that prevents bricking. Otherwise same as 20150921.
Version 20150921:
- Fixed issue where some misbehaved apps rotate to portrait
Version 20150912:
- Nothing major to see here. First public release of ROM.
Known Issues/Bugs:
- Camera does not function (microphone works however)
- Brightness will not change (can change in TWRP)
- Cannot use browser other than stock (for some reason 0.o?)
- Recent apps resolution is incorrect
- Play Store lists some apps as incompatible
- Some misbehaved apps rotate to portrait
FAQs:
Q: Bruhhhh, hook me up with dem sources
A: Dem sources can be found at teh GitHubs: (Link)
Q: Should I backup my stuff?
A: Do I need to answer that?
Q: Some apps say that SD Card is locked. Will you help me (kitten face)
A: Download SDFix from the Play Store. Apparently it's a "security" thing in Lollipop. (credit: @lewmur)
Q: On a scale of one to ten, how cool are you?
A: 11
Announcements:
- Issue that caused browsers other than stock to not work may be fixed soon! See my latest reply for more details.
- The Play Store listing some apps as incompatible was just a false alarm. This happened in stock for the same app so it must ACTUALLY be incompatible
- NEW BETA RELEASED (20150921)! Flash away! See changelog for details.
revert to kitkat?
is there a way to revert back to kitkat? for some reasons, some plugins in Kodi do not work, not sure why. tried on my other tablets with Lollipop, no problem. or maybe a new build might fix that problem. thanks.

Dirty flash a reinstall superSu from recovery if you need them
Whork fine, the app now rotate to portrait

Is the rotation problem still occurring? It should stay in landscape now. Could you tell me what app was portrait?
Which app told you that SD was locked? I'll look into it
Peace,
Quaesar
EDIT: I was thinking a bit and double check to see if your SD Card is in the unlocked state by taking it out and looking at the little slider. That may just be your issue.

Hi Quaesar,
This is great news, breathing life back into the Slate.
How confident are you that you can fix the brightness, camera and browser issues ? Although they're not showstoppers, I would prefer to have the camera (Skype) and Chrome rather than stock browser. Brightness, well ...
Thanks for your efforts

Unfortunately there are no updates right now. I'm planning to mass collect logs today and pour over them to see if anything shows up. I'm also planning on using a tool to output proprietary blobs rather than hand-picking to see if I missed any.
I don't think the dual display feature is included in CM as a default but if you need to use it, you could find a third party app or try using the apk from HP itself. Please let me know if everything goes smoothly. Just as a FYI, im planning on bi-weekly bug fixes / new releases because it does take some time to find and fix them. So keep checking this thread to see if there are new things!
Happy flashing!
Peace,
Quaesar

About LineageOS
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 12, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project, with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway. All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS GitHub organization. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the changelog for a full list of changes & features.Official LineageOS website : http://lineageos.orgAbout LineageOS Legal : http://lineageos.org/legal

LineageOS clean install:
Download the latest build of LineageOS ROM
Full wipe and factory reset (recommended / backup to make sure not to loose data)
Flash the LineageOS ROM zip from the Recovery
Flash the GApps to have the Google Applications (optional)
Every additional zip you want to flash (optional)
Reboot
LineageOS update/upgrade:
Download the latest build of LineageOS ROM
Wipe cache and dalvik cache
Flash the latest LineageOS ROM zip from the Recovery
Every additional zip you want to flash (optional)
Reboot
You can also update using the built-in Updater (requires at least TWRP 3.6.x or LineageOS Recovery)
About the builds:
Kernel sources: https://github.com/Chippa-a/android_kernel_sony_msm8956
Issues and reports
Report issues only if you are using the ROM kernel
If an additional mod is installed, make sure it's unrelated, and mention it
Make sure the issue wasn't discussed earlier in the threads
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred
(Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing)
If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0
(Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)

unbelievable what your doing to this oldschool device.
Gcam works perfectly on it. Thanks a lot for this device!!!
This works beautifully and is really smooth. Never thought I'd see another rom for the XC again.
Can confirm that GCam 8.x with HDR actually works! (No crashes, or stuttering) Unlike previous roms with the most recent kernel before this new one. I don't know what magic you pulled to make this happen but thank you!
Thanks for this rom! It is very fast.... Only Chrome browser is laggy...

I haven't experienced this. For me normal browsing was pretty smooth.
Have you also flashed the kernel from the .zip?
I must say that for now everything seems to work fine for me (incl. Gapps).
Tested fingerprint reader, 4G, DRM with Tidal, smooth and responsive Maps / Android Auto, smooth Chrome. No sudden reboot for now.

You won't need to flash the kernel separately, it's included in the zip:
1. Boot to TWRP.
2. Install the Lineage zip file.
3. Reboot to recovery.
4. Optional: In TWRP, install/flash Magisk 24.1 and/or MindThe GApps.
That's it. No issues with Chrome lag either. I've tried a few browsers and they all work well.
I've tested a few GCams, I find these two work best so far:
Parrot043: MGC_7.6.008_Parrot043_V7.apk
Download MGC_7.6.008_Parrot043_V7.apk by Parrot043.
www.celsoazevedo.com
Parrot043: PMGC_7.2.014_Relesed_V1.apk
Download PMGC_7.2.014_Relesed_V1.apk by Parrot043.
www.celsoazevedo.com
In the Advanced Settings, make sure to change AI White Balance to "Pixel 3 XL" for best colour accuracy.
Note: For the front selfie cam to work, you'll need to disable HDR first.
Please post here if you find any other good ones!

Not sure what you're asking but NFC is located under:
Settings > Connected Devices > Connection Preferences > NFC
If it doesn't turn on, you might have to flash the last Sony stock firmware first then install this rom.
Someone with the JA model might be able to help.
It works great! Very fast boot time. Everything is smooth, so far haven't noticed any bugs. Fingerprint unlock is faster than on stock and LOS 16.
Camera quality with the first GCam is also the best out of all custom ROMs I've tested. Great job! A new life for my old Xperia.

First , thanks for this Rom I'm very happy to See Android 12 on my phone.
I have tried Encryption and it doesn't work for me. I have a bootloop.
Has anyone else tested it?
And on the Encrypt page , I had astrange bug : I wasn't able to access to the"Encrypt" button at the bottom of the page . I had to set the police size at the smallest size to see it.

Agree, fingerprint detection and unlocking is incredibly fast, didn't think it could ever be improved this much.

That's Android 12. I wouldn't hold my breath that someone could port an older System UI over. You would have to get used to it I'm afraid.
