[Q] WIFI authentification issue after Flashed CROMI - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi everyone,
Im new (and noob) to this site.
The first problem i am facing atm is I couldnt get my TF700 to connect to wifi after I tried to root it:
1. I have been using Transformer ADB Tool v13
flashed TWRP 2.5.0.0
2. After that i flashed CROMi-Xenogenesis 4.6.1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2223492)
The problem was I couldnt connect to wifi at home but able to connect it elsewhere ( I was able to connect to wifi before I flashed CROMI).
3. So I tried to flash it back to the stock rom (4.2.1), but wifi authentication issue still there.
4. now im on 4.2.1/ build JOP40D.WW_epad-10.6.1.14.4-20130329 (thu my original build is
US_epad-10.6.1.14.4-20130329
PLEASE anyone, HELP!!!

I bet you are using channel 12 or 13 at home. The USA does not allow this channel so Asus restricts it in its US builds. Reflash CROMi-X and choose WW Build to fix or change your router channel to 11 or less.

I did tried to reboot it, but the problem still there.
I just checked one of the forum saying that there is an update on TF700 in US.
Maybe If I could flash it back to the stock rom and update it, the wifi problem will be solved.
any comment on this ?
Cheers

Did I notice that you said your only having this WIFI issue from your router?
Meaning your tablet will connect to other WIFI routers?
IF that is true its most likely your router and not your tablet. However here is what I would do:
1. Get back to root: Pretoriano80 has good one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1833212
2. Install TWRP via GooManager - Its very simple and clean
3. Ensure your current bootloader is supported by the ROM you are attempting to install.
4. Check the MD5 sum of the ROM you pick before you install it. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1135620 (I know different forum but its the same for anything.)
Hope you have a better go of it this time around. Let us know how it goes. BEST OF LUCK!

[fixed] WiFi unable to connect after S-OFF on Sensation

Hi!
I just unlocked (S-OFF) and rooted my Sensation according to the tutorial pinned in the development section. Unfortunately, now I am unable to connect to any WiFi-networks. My phone is an unlocked, SIM-free european HTC Sensation.
Restoring the phone backup I created before rooting (with ClockworkMod Recovery) to the unrooted stock ROM didn't work, still no wireles lan.
Does anybody know how to resolve this issue? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: If you flashed an unsafe boot image, page two has the solution.
Maybe try to ask in the IRC channel from #revolutionary on irc.freenode.net (but please recheck this on their website ), joined there today because of a minor problem and they seem very helpful.

u installed boot.img from cwm? I`m figuring out how to restore the old one..
I did some further investigation, and possibly was to quick on the draw:
While trying to find a solution, I noticed that I was able to connect to some other networks without problems. So I tried changing channels & power-cycling my WiFi access point. Et voilĂ : Magically, my wireless lan-problems did disappear.
I guess the problem was with the router all along, no fault of unrevoked & AlphaRev which I both want to praise for their excellent work in unlocking this phone.
Next time, I'll try turning it off and on again, first
Glad you fixed it Mr Mango, can you change the Title of your Thread to Fixed then

Same here! Sensation with Vodaphone branded ROM, no wifi anymore. Says "Error" in wireless menu.
I'm not sure if this was caused by S-OFF itself or by the installation of the "Unsafe" boot image to get root in adb by default.
So far I haven't found a way to make the wifi work again!
I have the exact same "Error" problem with my T-mobile branded sensation

Ok, I think I really found the cause: it happens when I install the "Unsecured Boot.img - Europe" from there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122053
Edit: Same problem with the Unsecured boot img (Asia) !
But here's good news: just install a RUU and the Wi-Fi problem will be gone!

UNSAFE boot image was the cause. so i scrapped it
AS Joel said, just reinstall stock rom. and its gone.
for more information visit the guide to S-off, bottom of post 1 will tell you how to debrand or reinstall
Yes, everything works fine now with the un-branded ROM.
So there's no way to get direct root adb access without breaking wi-fi functionality at the moment?

When users had the wifi break, the rooting file in step 3 was outdated. it was for froyo and eclair only. whcih is why users flashed unsecured boot.img causing the WIFI loss.
NOW!
Read the Guide. If you follow step 3. you WILL get root and YOU WILL NOT LOSE WIFI.
initially Step 3. had a su file called su-ef2.3.6.1.zip which didnt work causing people to use the unsecured boot from binary
but the new one is called su-efgh2.3.6.3zip which is working
the difference, the new supports Gingerbread and Honeycomb
i followed step 3 and hundreds of others have, we are all rooted on stock or custom roms without wifi problems!

Sorry, maybe I wasn't being totally clear.
Yes, I flashed ClockworkMod and then "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip" and it works great. I'm rooted, no problem with that.
The only thing I'm missing here, is that when I connect with "adb shell" I get the "$" prompt (not root). So I need to type "su" first. Then I'm root.
With the "unsecured boot" I get connected as root right away with "adb shell", but then the Wi-Fi doesn't work.
Therefore I was wondering if some way exists, to enable direct root for "adb shell" without breaking the Wi-Fi.

Check your Build number under the software information in Settings.
it should start with 1.27.531.2 or 1.29.531.2
You can download the exact same one below according to your build number
RUU_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.27.531.2_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_ 10.11.9007.15_M_release_192098_signed

RUU_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.29.531.2_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_ 10.11.9007.15_M_release_193714_signed
http://www.filefactory.com/file/cb7a...714_signed.exe
Ahhh, does this mean we naughty WIFI guys can try to re-root now? I was one of the ones that had WIFI go crap out after the root, and I flashed back to a stock ROM for TMOUS. Does this mean I can try to root again and plan on it working this time?

[Q] A new US TF700 but a few questions.....

Just bought a TF700 from Amazon (much cheaper in the States than where i live) but got a few questions:
(a) Its still on ICS and I suspect that i will end up installing custom roms etc as I have done with my GS2. I read that i should before i root or unlock bootloder i should backup using NVflash (i think mine is pre 30) but does that prevent me from going to JB or does it not matter?
(b) I use wifi channel 13 at home, but i know my tablet as i bought in US probably has wifi channels 1 to 11. How can i change the wifi to include up to channel 13?
(c) Are there any other diff between a US version of TF700 and a WW version? I note that on the Asus website they have different firmwares.
Thanks!

It is possible to convert your tab to the World Wide or other appropriate firmware by a reflash.
Do you know how this is accomplished?
If not post back and we can guide you.
Also I'm not sure about the wifi channel change, yet there there is most likely a way to change that.
The way to change the WiFi is via a build.prop text edit hack. It's as simple as changing the country code from US to GB
You must be at least rooted to do it. Of course if you take an nvflash blob copy then unlock the world is your oyster! :victory:

Thanks but could you provide more info on how to edit build.prop??
I will try and root tonight. Can you explain what is an nvflash blob copy??? I come from using GS2 where there was not a need to unlock the bootloader but i read that unlocking the bootloader (and therefore losing warranty) is required in order to install a custom rom.

Doing the nvflash thing will in no way stop you updating to jellybean however updating to jellybean will stop you doing the nvflash thing. Nvfash is security nothing more. You can recover from any bricks after you do it.
As for gaining root and editing build.prop I would suggest you read the stickies in the general forum. Think about unlocking and flashing a custom rom if you are not comfortable doing the edits yourself as it's all too easy to get into a bootloop (recoverable) if you don't know what you are doing.

You won't but if you set your UK wifi router to use channel 13 you will Your US infinity won' see it. To fix you flash a WW rom or do the build prop edit and it will work again.
As for other differences I'm yet to find any yet. Other than wifi they both behave the same way.

AFAIK, the list of included system apps is slightly different, and also the other apps are at least recompiled for each country version.
Good news......confirmed my new tab is 9.4.5.26 version which i think will enable me to use NVflash!!
I want to try Cleanrom and want to make sure i get this absolutely correct (i dun wanna brick my new tf700!!!).
(a) Follow the guide to backup using NVflash (http://androidroot.mobi/t3_nvflash/)
(b) Install the official asus 4.1.1 bootloader (current version seems to be V10.4.4.23)
(c) Install TWRP 2.3.1.0 (follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1938129)
(d) Do i still need to install SuperSU or can I go to install Cleanrom directly??
Is there anything i should be mindful of before flashing??
Thanks in advance!!!!

You'll need to unlock it at some point too
SuperSu is included in CleanROM so not needed.
It's all very straight forward and remember because you are coming from Stock you won't need to do a full wipe.

Thanks! Ops forgot about unlock. Will unlock, backup NVflash, install asus bootloader, TWRP and then insall cleanrom???
Lastly, should i install odex or deodex version of cleanrom??? The verdict seems to be split.....not sure what practical difference there is between the two..............

I'd start with the deodex version but they are so close to each other and easy to switch between. Try them both. You don't lose any apps or data by switching between the two as same base.

[Q] WW bootloader and ROM in US purchased TF700?

Hey experts,
I have a tf700 I purchased in US and I live in India.
I have used CleanROM Inheritance 3.4.6 US version and had no problems whatsoever. Now I want to upgrade to CROMI - X 4.6.9. However, when I installed CROMI - X 4.6.9 I couldn't get the Wifi to work. The network connects fine but I don't get internet access (and not just for the play store no internet access at all). I have tried both US and WW build versions of the ROM.
The bootloader I installed was of US version listed in the ROM's thread. I have no problems with CleanROM 3.4.6 on this same bootloader but CROMI X doesn't seem to support Wifi.
Please suggest a solution. I think I may be the last one with what people keep saying is an ancient ROM for the tab. :crying:
Can I install a WW bootloader on a tab that I purchased in the US and will it solve my problem?
What other solution is there?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I couldn't post on the ROM's thread as I need to have posted at least 10 posts before I can post on a development thread.

You can try this:
Before you try this, please backup your system in case of bootloop.
1. Go to your build.prop and find these entries: Put the Number Sign (#) in front of the Net.tcp.buffersize, please see below.
net.tcp.buffersize.default=4096,87380,256960,4096,16384,256960

Hello! I need to restore my Photon Q to the stock firmware, ideally ICS. I have CWM installed, but every ZIP I see is either a custom firmware, uses .win files that are only TWRP compatible, or it's a file for RSD Lite. So far I haven't found any way to restore this phone to stock from CWM.
You're probably asking, "why not use fastboot or RSD"? I presently do not have access to a PC with administrator access. Therefore I can't install the USB drivers or RSD.
The reason I am trying to get back to stock is because for some reason, with EVERY custom ROM I have tried-- CM10.2, CM10.1, Carbon, SlimBean, MIUI, AOKP ... WiFi, BlueTooth and GPS are all broken. I don't have a cell plan for this phone, I just use it on WiFi- and I regularly use it for navigation. So, that's a pretty huge problem.
The weird thing is that I have had CM10.2 working with WiFi/BT/GPS before, and it was using the exact same ZIP. Weird, huh?
Thanks for any help!
RSD would be your best bet.
Perhaps borrow a PC?
Maybe someone with CWM will take pity upon you...
We're in the same boat...

I am also looking for a stable ROM.
Just like you, Cm 10 worked. I even tried Cm 10.2 nightly and that's when I started having problems. Tons of force start problems.
Now I'm back to stock ROM and for some reason, YouTube and Google Play won't work.
My Wifi stays white and never goes to blue. As well, I am not on any carrier and rely on Wifi.have been flashing ROMS since the original HTC EVO. This has been quite a challenge (with the incorrect bootloader instructions on Motorola's website not helping any..) but I'll let you knowif I can find a flawless recovery stock of Photon Q!!
Thanks

Glad to see I'm not the only one in this predicament. I have seen that thread- unfortunately the recovery files are .win -- which I think is for TWRP only? I think the only way to get TWRP on here is with Fastboot, and that's not doable in my situation I thought I saw a ZIP somewhere on these forums but now it's nowhere to be found.
Thanks and I will post if I find a solution!

You can install TWRP with GooManager, assuming you are already rooted.

Will try that.. getting an APK of Goomanager now. thx
Hm, does goomanager need an internet connection to DL TWRP, or I can I somehow supply it with a file? .. I have no way to get the rooted Photon on the net, as I have no data plan and WiFi is broken. Thanks.

I suppose you can supply it with a file, although I am unsure of how to do so. Never attempted myself...
I use root explorer and it asks what app do you want to use to open file.
Sent from my XT897 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've got a Photon Q sitting in the mailbox from ebay today, plan to root and use CWM (more familiar with it over TWRP). I can probably grab a nandriod image of the stock rom rooted (depending on the root procedure, haven't read everything yet) and can send that to you. That should get you there w/o need for network connection. :good:

Question Wifi and Hotspot Not Turning On

Hi,
I bought my phone three months back. Ever since the last update Version Name - WW18.0840.2106.86 my wifi and Hotspot just won't turn on.
I have been through the asus forum and seems like alot of customers are facing this issue.
One of them confirmed that even after replacing motherboard the issue persists. Others are facing air trigger issues after replacing the motherboard.
Just wanted to know if anyone here is facing similar issues.
DO let me know your thoughts on should I visit service center and Get my motherboard replaced or should I wait for the next update. My current Version Name - WW18.0840.2107.151
PS: My phone is not rooted
Thanks
I have not had these issues personally. I just updated to .151 last night though, so we shall see.
The general consensus is that the mobo needs to be replaced, and will most likely not get fixed with a software update. If it was correctable, a major issue like this would have forced a new FW update after .86 caused your initial problem.
You could always try flashing raw FW if you really want to tinker, but I doubt it will help. I would hit the service center and get the mobo replaced.
Good luck!

Really? I have same problem after update. It didn't allow me to turn on wifi. But if its sure that installing kernel would solve the problem I might give it a try
Would you elaborate your situation regarding this sir?

OTA files are the standard updates. There are a lot of how to guides that answer most of these questions, which may be why nobody is jumping up to walk you through it.
I wouldn't trust someone installing OTA files in TWRP because the system handles them already without any software. That is just asking for problems.

"Quick Filters" let you see all posts of a certain type. This can make finding posts easier, but what if a guide began as a "Question"? This thread aims to bridge that gap. You will find nearly all of the common things new owners are trying to...

The link I posted earlier is included in that. Not sure why nothing showed up for it, but maybe you'll have better luck getting to it that way.
There's always a possibility it is a hardware issue. A lot of them have been SIM, Wifi, and Bluetooth issues. If you suspect a kernel issue, make sure you are following the instructions to restore. If you only flashed a boot, you didn't follow the instructions.
