i don't have much knowledge about the chipset and different processor used in the phones but i have a question.
i want to buy a mid-range phone , i shortlisted these 2 phones.
http://igyaan.in/2013/01/35923/exclusive-hands-on-micromax-a116-canvas-hd/ and the huawei ascend g600
a friend of mine said that they use mediatek processors which are not as good as snapdragon.
so the question is why these phones are offered at less prices , micromax is offering quad core for half the price of ,say for example , samsung galaxy s3 or why MTK processor are so less expensive than the snapdragon ? and what i'll be compromising with if i buy a MTK processor
are these cheap processors reliable ?
for mods : i searched the forum but didn't find any related topic so created a new thread.
so i just found out that micromax a116 uses MediaTek's MT6589 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and the huawei ascend g600 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260
so which one is good and more reliable ? both micromax and huawei have very low reputation in my country so that's why i'm asking all this.
These are two notable quad core phones under Rs 15,000. Here is a comparision of the phones based on their features.
Micromax Canvas HD A116, when it was launched earlier this year, was the first smartphone in India under Rs 15,000 to have a quad core processor. It was booked by many and is still in great demand.
Now Xolo, a brand of Lava International, has launched the Xolo Q800, which too has a quad core processor but costs almost Rs 1,500 less at just Rs 12,499 against Canvas HD's Rs 13,999. So is it wise to buy the Canvas HD now for Rs 13,999? Let's compare the features of the two Android smartphones. Read more:
http://www.themobileindian.com/news/11153_Xolo-Q800-vs-Micromax-Canvas-HD-A116
Why I bought the XOLO Q800 instead of the Micromax Canvas HD A116
The Micromax Canvas HD and the XOLO Q800 are equally great phones. I personally think that a 4.5" phone is still okay and fits properly in a pocket - at least that's the max I can live with considering everyday use.
As for PPI, 245 PPI on a XOLO Q800 is good enough compared to the 294 PPI on the Canvas HD.
The camera is considerably better thanks to the BSI (or w.e sensor) on the XOLO Q800. Of course the Canvas HD has a 2 MP front camera.
And finally the build. Well, guys, I think the XOLO Q800 pawns the Micromax Canvas HD in terms of looks. Anyday!
Will be back with some great screenshots once my friend buys the same cell next month!
Nice info
but i think micromax canvas hd is well known in youngsters compare to XOLO Q800. what u say?
Please dont buy these devices... I personally dont trust both of them...my friend bought xolo 4 months ago and It is in problem right now..
And micromax is worst one... And these companies are not so much xda supported devices and dont ask about hardware quality
Sent from my MT11i using xda premium
Time will tell buddy.
But i've seen many people using a Micromax. They don't usually go kaput unless mishandled.
Ultimately it's upto you how you handle the phone.
Sent from my Q800
But about less xda support..

i have micromax a90 working well .... it is 8 months old ,,, i rooted it and installed MEGAMAX rom which shows it has dev support.
Xolo T1000
Between These Two I would Prefer Xolo for its Hardware..(Both have same s/w )
But i would suggest u to wait until xolo releases its T1000 and Q2000 models these are way better than these two...
Last Month of may is the speculated release...
Recently Q1000 launched by Xolo. This phone got very good editors rating. I can say this phone comes with really amazing features...
If you want proper dev support don't buy any of these.
Your choice.
Guys,
I want to pick up a new budget android phone and i have narrowed down my choices between these two, Lava Iris 501 or 458q
The 501 has a 5in screen with a dual core cpu but the 458 has quad core but it is 4.5in, which one would you guys choose? They both have 512mb ram so does it matter if its a quad core or dual core since the ram is limited. Am i better off with a bigger screen or quad core? I play a lot of games and install a lot of apps.
thanks in advance.

Hello! Has anyone heard of the Chinese android smartphone Vowney V5, also known as Verne V5? It has nice features like quad-core MT6589 CPU, dual SIM, 5.0-inch HD (1280 x 720) IPS-OGS screen, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM, 8.0 MP rear camera and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Most of all, it is very affordable. The full specs of the phone are here: http://www.chinaphonereview.com/vowney-v5-verne-v5
Vowney is a new name in the Chinese smartphone market but who knows it may be a good Chinese brand like Jiayu, which has grown so popular over the past year for its good phones. Maybe Vowney will follow the same path.
What do you think about Vowney V5? Please share your opinions...
Hi! I just made a thread on this phone with some useful links... i will receive it today so i'll post soon my opinions! here's the link:

That's great! I'm looking forward to your review of Vowney V5. I have a feeling this is a good Chinese phone.
I'm thinking on buying one too by the end of this month.
This V5 looks awesome and has great specs and a fabulous price.
Any of you have problems with Customs?
I'm thinking on buying on Merimobiles.

It would depend on your country's customs. But I know Chinese online shops have measures to get through customs without problems. For instance, they declare their shipments' value lower than the actual price to prevent the receiver from paying high taxes.
Fastcardtech which your site promotes is nothing more than a scam. You should be ashamed of yourself. Guys do your research before you buy. This company has a horrible reputation.

Based on two things I am closing this thread. The first is the discussion going on here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311644. And the second is that there are already 2 threads devoted to questions about devices, you can repost your question in one of these two threads: The what should I buy thread or The Device Suggestion Thread.
Thanks!
