This is my first post in XDA Developers Forum. I am also liitle confused about selecting the right category for such topics, so I am posting it to a General Forum.
I am new to android development. I am trying to decompile an android apk file for study purpose. I googled for the process and found some steps but when I tried it decompiling with apktool then It some errors showed up. I found that only this particular app is having problem with decompilation.
I have also attached the screenshot below. So please help me with this.

After successful decompilation, Can I Import the file to the Eclipse Workspace without any problems ?
If there are some useful tips for this then please provide me.

I need some help, my target is to create my own minimal launcher. But I don't have any development and coding/writing skills, only good are my photoshop skills, so there would be no problem to by theming it.
I found an UI concept on:

I think it is very beautiful and maybe there is a way to make it possible for android users.

hey guys, I wanted to post this question in Android Hacking Q & A ,but I couldn't
I am trying to translate Roms into my own language using apktool.
the problem is that I can't build the apps , when ever I type in the command line this ( in this case, we have framework-res.apk )

it gives me error, I don't know why, it does not give me this error ONLY for MIUI ROMS,
but it gives this error for all other roms, including AOKP,CyanogenMod.
I have the latest version of JDK Version 7.
please help.

I'm trying to decipher the structure of an android firmware.
Suppose I wanted to write special code or customize something, is there a common knowledge that for example such a file is common for all machines and another file for example is intended to contain custom functionalities.
By the way, is there a way I could extract those .img files and see files or code inside? Again I'm not really interested in the core or the kernel of an android OS but anything that could customize the way it works.

I've been trying to find the answer to this "issue". It appears that when using the desktop Chrome/Chromium browser to create/edit forum post, it is missing the wysiwyg edit button. I am getting better at this markup language anyway but it would be nice to have. And yes I do preview my posts but it is tedious sometimes to get it all to just look right (professional)... Any response would be great!

Hey Guys! Needed help with a small thing.
I've been running cm11 for a while now and in anticipation of the Lollipop update for my Moto G I've decided to downgrade my phone to a stock rom. I've downloaded the required zip but it seems that it also restores things like the original boot logos, recovery etc.
I only want a modification done to my rom and nothing else., I thus opened up the xml file in the zip package and wanted to modify the xml accordingly but to put it simply..I'm a n00b.
So guys, please help me with this modification. I've attached a screenshot of the xml. Please tell me the changes required.
