Known Issues :
-Edit : Fixed
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) :
1. What does this App do ?
Ans : Uses various sensors to determine whether the user wanna lock or unlock the screen. Hence, saves time, battery, etc
2. How, do I uninstall this app ?
Ans : Using the uninstall button from Main Screen OR Go to System Settings->Device Administrator->Disable it & then Uninstall the app
3. Is this app completely free & where are the ads ?
Ans : Nope, this app doesn't have ads & ever will & is free but after some period the app gets expire & you need to buy the unlocker
4. Does Cover Algorithm keep running in background ?
Ans : Yes. Because, It needs to run always to lock & unlock phone depending on calculation done by app
5. Does activating the feature 'Start App on Startup' slows down device as told by Android ?
Ans : Yes, for sure but if there are less number of apps for starting on startup then the delay is negligible. If you selected lots of apps or heavy apps then it will slow down the startup of device causing delay
6. Doesn't using sensors continuously consume alot battery ?
Ans : They consume very less power almost negligible. The sensors consume current in few mA
7. Does Disabling the lock screen also remove my secured lock screen ?
Ans : Yes, of course it surely disables lock screen even with password or pattern or any possible lock screen protection. Bug: Lock Screen gets activated when notification tray is used for opening app
8. Does changing sensor affect the battery life ?
Ans : Battery drain rate depends upon the sensor you have selected.Hence, choose such sensor that provides less errors & less power consumption
9. Does changing sensor 'effect' affect the battery life ?"
Ans : Yes, this is because for unlocking the phone. We need to wake the CPU which costs the battery. Hence, for prevention of battery I have added an CPU timeout which drains bit less battery, else you can change effect to ONLY LOCK which doesn't cost much battery

The best question asked :
Depends upon:
1. Device you use
2. Sensor you choose
3. Sensor Effect you choose
4. Unlock Timeout selected
Tips to decrease Power Consumption :
1. If your an CM or AOKP or Google Stock Android user then set Unlock Timeout to 0 for Least Battery Usage
2. If you only LOCK as Sensor Effect then Power Consumption is little decreased
3. Use SENSOR which consumes less power not much effective

Cover Algorithm now available to download from SAMSUNG STORES

Thanks for this app. It really does cover most of the features!
However immediately notice few "bugs" upon first use:
1) Any changes (eg. disable notification icon) made in the settings is not taking effect until I force stop the app through Manage Application (system) and restart the app. Can it take effect immediately or once I pressed back to exit the app setting interface? Like any other app out there..
2) Start Ignore App Monitor button will automatically disabled (previously enabled) upon every start. Although I did not set any app to ignore, is that why it was disabled for this reason?
Nice progress though. Keep it up, hope these are fixed soon!

Thanks mate for precious reply.
Your 1st problem :
I know that some settings don't take effect instantly, for that just stop & start
Cover Algorithm service using the toggle. Best solution is to stop service using main toggle before changing settings.
2nd issue :
Ignore app monitor will work only if there is an app selected from ignore app list

A Dalvik Cache Cleanup should be necessary after completion! This can be done within Titanium Backup.

Build.Prop Tweaks:
Now for my Build.Prop Tweak List! I have found tweaks from other phones to work on the infuse as well. These tweaks need to be entered within RootExplorer itself using text editor, Copying and pasting will not work and will cause your phone to bootloop. The other alternative is to use ADB to push these.
Use these tweaks at your OWN RISK! I'm not responsible if something goes wrong, I advise you to do a Backup before editing the Build.Prop incase something goes wrong.
Let's Start! Shall We Tweaks should only be used on Deodexed Roms not Odexed Roms. After adding tweaks clean cache and dalvik cache plus a reboot 2 times may be needed to get tweaks to function properly.
# Dalvik.vm.heapsize=64m
Edit the value and change 64 to 80 (This will allow better multitasking) Pandora would lag while fiddling with other apps changing it to a higher value made a huge difference in speed. An app shouldn't need a higher heapsize than 48mb to run stable but you will need a higher heapsize to simutaniously run other apps while using an extensive app such as Pandora or some other media player. The heapsize can be increased as high as 128, but 80 is my perference and works great.
# Improve touch responsiveness through Hardware Rendering (smooths out scrolling)

I had most of the build prop tweaks already on my phone. Where in the hell you found some of them is beyond my searching abilities. I have over 245 apps installed and after i added to the build prop and deleted the rest of my bloatware, i am actually suprised at how quick the phone is now. Thanks again.

BATTERY CALIBRATION:
We will start with a basic necessity for good battery performance. CALIBRATION.
Calibration is the process where you get your battery to hold as much charge as it can and the battery meter to display the correct reading. I think when you do this, you will be surprised how much more charge your battery takes than the phone thinks it needs.
1. Charge your phone 100% while it’s on.
2. Use root explorer, astro, or file manager of choice and go to /data/system and find batterystat.bin. Delete it.
3. Immediately power off and allow it to charge up to 100%. (This may take longer than you think)
4. Power it on, and charge it to 100%.
5. Go back to step 2 and repeat one more time]

A clarification request. It appears there is no discharge cycle included. Is that the intent?
Read This.
Entropy512 said:
None of these do ANYTHING with our battery.
Wiping battery stats does NOTHING to the fuel gauge on ANY Android device.
Doing a full discharge/recharge cycle is valid on devices with a "coulomb counter" style fuel gauge - which we do NOT have. I suggest reading the MAX17040 datasheet.
Our fuel gauge does NOT require funky recalibration cycles of any sort - the one side effect of the design that allows this is that transient events can temporarily throw off the fuel gauge. The most common example is heavy load immediately following a gauge reset - such as the exact conditions that would be observed when rebooting on low battery.
If you think your fuel gauge is inaccurate, there is one thing to do: Wait a few hours. If it IS in an inaccurate state, it will converge over time.

Off topic but do you have any other app ideas you are thinking of making? All your apps have useful puposes so let us know if you have more!
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
First of all this app will get some more features with the next update (maybe tonight, maybe tomorrow):
1. Different vibration patterns for different proximity sensor values (meaning you can assign a different pattern for when your phone is on your desk or in your pocket)
2. Maybe i will also implement auto-call answer if you lift the phone to your ear (also using proximity sensor). I didn't look up if this is possible though, just an idea at the moment.
Thanks for using my apps, all my ideas come from my personal needs.
If i have an idea i search the play store and when i can't find it I'll do it myself.
So no, there's no idea for my next app, but i don't actively think about it, i just wait!
UPDATE: Auto answer works, will come with next update.
Very cool idea!
Can you do different vibration intensities too?

Sorry, this is not possible.
There is no android API for intensity, meaning it's implemented differently for every device on ROM/Kernel level.
If you are running a galaxy s gt-i9000 and using semaphore kernel however you can use the SAI service of the semaphore control app to do exactly what you suggested.
Maybe other kernel developers implemented this too, but i don't know devices i don't own.
Version 1.4 online
- Set different patterns for different proximity sensor states --> different patterns for on the desk/in your pocket
- Auto-pick up phone calls, also uses proximity sensor

I really love the different patterns for desk/pocket, works perfectly well!
Thanks for the update!
Thank you!
What do you think about the auto call answering?
I'm currently thinking of a way to prevent false triggers.
Maybe using device orientation and/or acceleration sensors so you actually have to move the phone upwards to answer the call.
At the moment (because of proximity sensor) it will also answer if you take the ringing phone out of your pocket and put it back in (triggered by proximity far -> near).
Any suggestions? I'm open to input from my users
Using the orientation sensor in addition to proximity sensor sounds like a good way to do it!

Useful handy apps...!

Guys I am using android phone since 2 years now and in that period I come across some useful apps which help me alot to do multitasking, monitoring the useful things and doing fun with the phone. So I thought that I should some of those apps with you
NOTE :- I am just sharing these apps with u so that you people can use it in more efficient way. I am not taking any credit for it. I have given links of those apps' from where you can actually download those apps and thanks to those developers
1) SWAPPS APP
Ok guys now a days I am using Swapps app which is really light weight app with multitasking capability. Description is as follows.
Swapps![/COLOR] is the altimate tool for multitasking on your android device. With a simple swipe action you can get to any other app you wish.
Swapps! launcher is always there, when you play, read or listen, you can always swipe and switch to another app.
Swapps! Active Panel is devided into 3 spaces:
Starred - Your favorite apps will always be on top for quick access.
Recent Used - the last recent applications that you used for quick switching between tasks.
All Apps - Full app drawer!
Swapps! features:
Swapps! contains full app drawer just like in your home app
'Recently Used' panel contains 5 last apps you opened
'Recently Used' app's background process can be closes by long press on the app
'Starred' panel holds up to 10 of your favorite apps
Swapps! is accessible anytime, regardless of which application is currently running, using a simple swipe!
Notification icon can be disabled or made transparent in the settings screen.
Fully customizable swipe-area (Side, Width, Height)
Doesn't affect battery life!!!
How to use Swapps!:
- Swipe your fingure from the edge of the screen to the middle of the screen
- Choose an app that you'd like to launch
It's as simple as that

This is original link of app All credit goes to its btilliant developers.
This app is available on market also for free

2) COOLTOOL
Many times I feel that I should monitor data traffic so that I can come to knowat which speed I am downloading a file. Otr sometimes I need to monitor freq and ram while using a perticular app so that I can come to know how much ram is used by phone while running that app. So gor such things I always prefer a cool app "COOLTOOL" app
Its description as follows
This utility allows you to monitor a various system info in "always on top" floating window (overlay mode).
Available features:
- CPU Usage meter
- Free RAM meter
- CPU Frequency indicator
- 2g/3g/Wi-Fi Traffic meter
- Battery Level
- Battery Temperature
- Battery Current (mA)
- Wi-Fi Signal Level
- I/O Activity
- Time/Date indicator
- GSM Cell Signal Level (Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note are not supported due to firmware bug!)
- Number of fixed GPS satellites
- SD Card free space
- Most resource-intensive processes
- Task Killer
Also there is nice real time graph on background.
Press Show Panel button to enable dashboard. You can drag floating window over the screen or double tap to open settings. See video and screen-shots for details.
This application allows you to:
- Easy diagnostic problem processes that consume resources excessively.
- With Cool Tool you can monitor full-screen applications (games, video players, browsers).
- Monitor your Internet traffic without closing the browser window.
- Make your battery level always visible, with accurate percentage scale.
- Monitor how good your CPU governor switches between CPU frequencies in idle/stresses
Don't forget to try custom themes!
Tips:
Customize the appearance of the panel using color picker dialogs. Also you can adjust transparency and size of the panel in Sliders section.
If you want the panel did not receive touch events, just select the "ICS hack" box. If you Android 4.0 user, you also may want to turn it on. Since in ICS the status bar is drawn on top of all. Even on top of Cool Tool
Tons of gauges could drain your battery very quickly. Uncheck the features that you do not need. Btw, Cool Tool went to sleep and do not draw anything when your display turns off. It is for powersave.
Warning! "Show most resource-intensive process" feature is pretty resource-intensive You should use it only if you really need it.
If you want to hide Cool Tool panel in specific app, just select that app in Black List tab.

This app is totally free on market I always set it on status bar.
3) KeepScreen
Like me many of you must have experiened screen off problem while watching youtube video. Due to screen off buffering stops (google developers should remove this bug) which is really annoying. So I thought there should be an app which should control or keep our screen on so that watching youtube video without any interrupt will be fine. After trying lot of apps I found a free and reliable app on market "KeepScreen" which really do a remarkable job.
You can specifically choose any apps for which only you want screen on when it gets launched. This acts like a background service so a very negligible ram is taken by it. Here is playstore link
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tni.KeepScreenLite&hl=en
4) MultiTasking Lite
In every android OS version there is inbuilt task manager which will show u recent apps when you long press home button. But I hate that why it can't show us currently running live apps like how a symbian phone shows...! So I was searching for an app which will act as task killer, which will show me currently running running apps, services etc. And finally a best app I found is MultiTasking lite app. Its UI is as simple as possible.
Also when u will launch it it automatically clears empty processes which eats ur ram and free up some ram for you. So its like a multitasking + ram free maker app
Description of app
Quickly switch between running apps for a list of the currently running tasks.
- The application activate when using double-press on HOME key.
- Long press on the Home(icon) button to terminate all running applications.
# Multitasking Pro (
- Support screen orientation.
- Remove Ads.

-Open settings
-In default home application set ur launcher that you are using it.
-Go to activation key. And choose home key single press.
-Click Enable additionql feature
-Startup tab -> running
-Trnsition animation -> set whatever u like.
-Click hide services.
-Click hide services.
-Click empty processes remove.
-Click use tab interface.
-Click memory usage.
-Click use bottom button.

This app works really very well. If u want to remove annoying ad while using app then use any ad remover app. I mainly prefer Adaway app

5) Greenify
I know that whenever we dont want any system/user app then we use tit backup to freeze that app so that all activities related to that app get freeze. But some apps like facebook or whatsapp always stay in memory in form of active services which affects our ram and battery alot and this is the main reason why android keep on lagging after use but iphone always remain smoother even after use of lots of apps. Iphone never keeps apps in his memory. It just pause or we can say that hibernate background app temporarily (like our Tit backup app do) to give smoother experience to user. I always wish that android should also use such system. And luckily I got an app which works exactly on this mechanism. Its Greenify
Use this app just to temporarily hibernate some apps which stays in memory un-necessarily. If you want to launch that app then you can easily launch it. Your app will run smoothly without any interruption. After our use is over then app will again hibernate by its own.
Remember hibernation will not work on running app. Hibernation will only happen when app's use is over. So enjoy ur android without worrying of lag

Now that I am on 4.2.2, DashClock widget and extension series is a must for me.
Along with it, a third party launcher app like Apex or Nova is a must for UI customisations, also WidgetLocker.
For root, SetCPU is a must too. Great battery saver for 4.1.2, but not on 4.2.2 as I try recently.
For daily tasks, GTasks is a must for me to organise things better.
I don't like bright screen in dark place, so Screen Filter works perfectly for me to dim the screen further. It works by applying a layer of black wallpaper with transparency over the screen.
Last but not the least, EasyTouch (Apple's assistive touch-like) improves the lifespan for my home and power button (I guess?).
Have you guys heard about Unicon/Icon Themer? It allows you to use those icon themes what are usually for launchers only. I like it and it really works. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sg.ruqqq.IconThemer

Thank you every body!!
Sharing INFO:
Please do not upload the app in other sites, stores or online storages. Link back to this post or to Google Play.
I prefer not using the app on custom roms, i prefer that people just download it from here or the store so they always can have the latest updates and fixes.
If you make a translated version (i will translate it asap) pm me with a link to download so i can post it here too.
Any questions, petitions suggestions or whatever you want, pm me or contact me via Skype([email protected]) or gmail([email protected])

Hello all!!
I am developing a new app, its, for now, called Hovering Controls, it allows you to open your desired app with hand gesture (1 slide, slide twice and hover) (not real gesture as it uses proximity sensor) it also allow you to play, pause, next, previous your songs/videos even with screen off. Also mute alarm and ring phone with a simple hand wave. There are 2 modes, target mode (1 gesture for one app) and carousel mode where you can set a list app and it goes throught them.
I would like to hear from your opinions and feedback.
Thank you very much all!!

Not really, you can not control de interface of apps, just open your selected app with hand waves. Extra features are music/video player control, alarm and phone call ringing mute.
I still need to work on the event detector, some phones have slower sensors and if you wave your hand fast nothing is detected...i will need to figure out how to make it "smooth" with all sensors.
About ram, i will need to check that, i will clean the code, it still has debugging code and variables. Good thing is while running, the code only runs when a proximity event happens, so its not all time looping throught the code.
If you find that the app is not working with your fav music/video player, post the name of the app and i will update it. If you find out more features for it, also post them i will try.
New version uploaded that allow you to test your sensor so you can test your hand slides and check what happens.

Yep, settings not working yet, i will add an option to not show an icon in the notif bar (it is shown because the service is running as foreground so Android do not destroy it for resources, in the next update with the option to not show the icon, if you check it, android may destroy the service for a moment if needed)

It works with package names, sometimes some stock apps, has same package name but different class name, that is what can be happenning there, can you tell me the name of the apps and if they are stock apps, wich rom, android version and phone do you have?
I will need to investigate it a little more to fix this issues.
I'm using Micromax Canvas A116 HD with stock Android 4.2.1. The app which I'm trying to link is stock Camera app.

Lets debug this a little bit...for example, in Hover Hold option, you select camera app, and it opens the gallery? when its opening a message is shown (a toast message) what it says? opening camera or opening gallery?
I explain this a little more:
In my S3 when i choose to open contacts or telephone, it always opens the same app althought they are shown as different apps, both have the same package name, and thats why it opens the same...i will try to fix this beheaviour.
It says 'Opening Camera' but still opens Gallery.

Well...its weird xD
Lets try this, unninstall the app, and install the new apk attached in this message. In Hovering Hold, when you choose the app, it will now show the package name. Check what it says choosing camera and what choosing gallery, packages should be different. let me know how it goes plz.
Thank you very much in advance!
Well yeah, the 4.2+ camera is basically one application, so I can understand why it opens the gallery.
Really nice idea by the way, I will be keeping an eye on this. I set it to open Google Now, and so far it's working well.

awesome work
Thanks forgin for such a awesome app tested on galaxy note ..every thing just works... camera , browser , dialer are working my fav..
It's really a great concept, but I'm having a few troubles. First, I can't get hover hold to work at all, not even while testing the sensor. Second, whenever it recognizes a double swipe, it opens the correct app, but then immediately opens the single swipe app as well. Idk if my waving isn't very good or what, but the sensor isn't sensitive enough for this to be useful for me.
Sent from my Droid Razr M using xda app-developers app
Hrumph...some gestures. I flipped off my phone for 30 seconds, and nothing happened but it going into sleep mode. I guess I don't intimidate it.
Seriously, though, this thing is running pretty nicely. I'll have to keep an eye on it to see how battery life is affected, of course. Now people driving next to me are going to think I'm conducting an orchestra or something...
