Galaxy S4 Urban Armor Gear Case Review - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

If you are a fan of rugged yet slim cases, definitely take a look at the Urban Armor Gear case for the Galaxy S4. The case consists of a shock-absorbing inner rubber layer, and a rigid plastic mid-shell. Each corner has been reinforced with thick rubber to protect your phone from those deadly corner drops. UAG offers the case in four colors and includes a screen protector. At $35, this case contends with the Otterbox Defender and SPIGEN SGP Slim Armor.
In my opinion, this case bests both the Otterbox and SPIGEN in two important areas. First, it's much slimmer that the Otterbox Commuter, while offer similar protection. Second, it has much taller lip than the SPIGEN Slim Armor.

It looks legit to me, but your mileage may vary. It's only $5 cheaper, so not very suspicious.

Hey thanks for the nice review. Could you elaborate more on the included screen protector? I was leaning towards a glass screen protector and a cheaper case but now I'm leaning towards the UAG and using the included one. I really don't want to pay more than $35 on protection between cases and screen protectors. As far as non-glass screen protectors go how is the UAG one?

it is not 5$ cheaper

anyone can confirm this is genuine ?????

Thanks for the review... I think I will be ordering 1!

In for best place to buy from the cheapest possible. Thanks!

I haven't installed it since I have a dummy phone, but it feels like your typical $3 screen protector from Acase or Halo. I've never used a glass screen protector, but I guess it's safe to assume this one isn't as high quality.
I'll try to post a case and screen protector giveaway on our site tomorrow.

Thanks! I bought one yesterday. Shopandriod has them in stock for $29.95 + I had a 15%off coupon and got free shipping. Should be here Fri or Sat!

This really is a great case. Protective, but slim. I have the aero, but I'm really tempted to use that 15% off coupon at Shopandriod to get the white one too.

Do you know what the dimensions are of this case?

Best price

It appears it is since imarine.com has a BBB score of 'A' and a good Reseller Review. They charge 8.95 flat-rate shipping though so it still ends up being about 30 bucks.
I picked mine up off of epal (shopepal.com) for $25 and free shipping. Was a little hesitant at first but they are a US based seller and also have an A+ BBB rating. Should be legit. I can't post links since I just joined but you can find them with an easy search.
Ill follow up when it is delivered to confirm.

Received my White UAG case today from Shopandroid. LOVE IT! Fits great, size is great, perfect case for me.

Anyone have the orange one? I have the Aero, and I may add another color to the mix but I'm torn between the Orange and white. I have a black mist S4

Just ordered the scout color from shop android. $25 and free shipping can't beat it!

Having used both Spigen Slim Armor and UAG...
Having used both Spigen Slim Armor and UAG, here are my opinions.
As far as looks, the Galaxy S4 with Spigen Slim Armor (Metal Slate) looks like something James Bond might slip out of the inside pocket of his tuxedo. The Galaxy S4 with UAG (Scout) looks like something a Navy Seal might wrestle out of a tactical vest during a firefight.
I have dropped my Galaxy S4 while equipped with the Spigen Slim Armor. The fall was from about 4 feet high onto an unpadded hardwood floor. The case landed the top left corner as evidenced by a temporary "bruise" in the TPU but the phone was completely unharmed. However, it was that fall that inspired me to purchase the UAG case.
The UAG is, itself, a very slim case. I was expecting more bulk but was very pleasantly surprised. The increased depth of the UAG is, almost completely, attributed to the protective "lip" that surrounds the screen. Though, I still prefer the Spigen Slim Armor for slipping in and out of my pockets or for when I don't want my Galaxy S4 to look so "tactical", I prefer the UAG for everything else.
One specific trait about the UAG case that makes it a great utility case is that it has an incidental cavity behind the "UAG" logo that's perfect for carrying additional MicroSD cards, if you are one of us who often carry additional cards.

Are they just in there loose and jostling about? Not that I necessarily think that will do anything bad, just curious.

They do slide around a bit in the space. I have a couple ideas to prevent them sliding about but it hasn't been too much of a concern to make it an urgent necessity.

Will this case work with a zagg shield?

[POLL] What's the best kind of screen protector and case?

I've bee reading some of the other forums on here, and I am having a hard time choosing what screen protector and case to use (which is a good thing, I guess). I am trying to decide between Zagg, Ghost Armor, and the Spigen Glas.t (do I get the SLIM or tR). Which one of these is best? Do they all protect the phone from scratches and drops about the same?
As far as cases go, whats the best case? I've been looking at the Otterbox Commuter and was dead set on getting it until I saw the Spigen Neo Hybrid case. Will they both protect the phone from slight drops? If you have the Spigen, are the sides raised over the edges of the screen and the camera, as to protect it?
I tried Ghost Armor. was not happy with it. Sure it protected nicely and it is nearly indestructible but I found it tended to embed bits of dust that would not come out no matter what I did to clean it.
Today I have a cheap matte protector that cost me about $5 IS on Amazon. Also picked up a TPU case and a hard case.
I always preferred a generic TPU case for my devices... adds very little bulk, makes them easier to grip (less slippage), and better protection than naked...
I am not a fan of those huge, multi-layered monster cases.
Zagg + Otterbox (Commuter) for me. I picked the Zagg because that's the only screen protector Best Buy had and I had to get one right when I got my phone so I can always claim it's had one on for 100% of it's life. Maybe an OCD thing, I don't know.
And right now, Otterbox is the only brand I trust. My Galaxy Nexus was in a Diztronic and cracked from a ~2 foot drop onto concrete. That's probably reasonable, and definitely falls under the category of user error, but it would not have broken with an Otterbox. That's a fact.

I have the dualtek extreme shock case with the spigen glas.t SLIM. its the best combo in my opinion. I used the same combo with my iPhone 4S and its been great protection. I've dropped them both a couoke of times on some hard surfaces with no scratches at all. I've dropped my iPhone face down (not on purpose of course). No scratches what so ever.

For $30 they should be pretty amazing... I can't see myself dropping more than $10 shipped on a case.
I've got a neo hybrid case and ghost armor screen protector. I had GA on my S3. I like the feel of the GA protector, the professional install, and the fact that it has the lifetime warranty. If it even LOOKS like its peeling, I run to the mall and get it replaced.
This is my first Spigen product and I have gotten more compliments on this one than I have on any other case.

I have the Neo Hybrid case too and get comments everywhere I go - I normally use ZAGG screen protectors but tried the Spigen GLass T protector and love it - it has the most natural feel - and looks awesome!
I bought a spigen for my Xperia z and it didn't let the proximity sensor work right. You'd get off a call and the screen wouldn't turn back on. Tried to take it off and it cracked. It was pretty thick, not sure if that was the reason but I'll steer clear of one till I know for sure. Especially with the hover features of this phone.

Has anyone heard of the BodyGuradz Pure Screen Protector?
http://www.bodyguardz.com/screenguardz-pure-glass-screen-protector-for-samsung-galaxy-s-4-iv.html
It looks like this may top my list! I read a CNET review where the reviewers daughter dropped her iPhone from like 6 feet and only the screen protector had a tiny crack in the corner! But you get cheap replacements!

What case do you use?

What case is everyone using?
Exactly what the title asks.
This is not a thread for what you think is the best case out there. This thread is for you to post what case/s you use and your experiences with it/them.
It is also to help other users find new cases that they may like.
This thread will also be used for cleaning up the clutter of people starting new threads asking about cases they should use.
Maybe include a link if you think it's good.
Right now, I am naked and so is my phone. Only have a tempered glass protector on it.
As of now, the options will be limited, but this thread will explode as more cases become available.
No case, and no screen protector for me on any of my devices. Have never had a scratch or any other damage to any of my phones.
My Spigen Neo Hybrid Came in today - and I am very impressed with the quality of this case. I had the Spigen Neo Hybrid on my S5 and S4 and while I liked the case for those phones, the aluminum shell was kind of flimsy and while it looked good - it was not as durable as I might have liked - in fact the metal around the hole for the battery broke on one of the cases I was using.
After getting the new Neo Hybrid case, it looks and feels more like a premium case - the metal surrounding the case is very solid and has a very premium feel to it. All in all it adds a very nice level of protection without adding bulk - and it keeps that very high end feel that comes with the NOTE 4 outside of the case.
FYI - I have also installed a BODY GLOVE Screen Protector - it took a little getting used to at first - it does not cover the glass from side to side because of the curved edges - but it does cover the viewing area quite well and looks good too.

I got talked into a case at the T-Mobile store. They only had one to choose from, the Samsung S-View Flip Cover. I'm really liking it. The shell is thin and slightly hard, and I can access customized settings through the window without having to open the case.
It was $50, and at first I was going to go back and return it but after having it for a day I'm going to keep it.

I an still probably going to buy a case just to have some protection before Otterbox gets released. And If sprint store doesn't honor Samsung coupon, then when the online order shows up, I'm returning original back to sprint...
I'm waiting for Seidio to release their Dilex cases. Had one for the note 3 and I love the metal kickstand. I'm hesitant on buying the Spigen Slim/Tough armor because I'm hearing bad things about the plastic kickstand.

Using a Spigen Neo Hybrid Metal Slate case on my Note 4 right now. Otterbox Commuter case is ordered and on its way. Using Ringke screen protector(from Ringke fusion).
To hold me until I find something more protective that gets substantial positive feed-back, I'm now using the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Crystal Clear that I bought during the (now dead?) Spigen early-morning sales for $3.49 + $3.00 shipping. So far so good.
I'm using Spigen Ultra Hybrid case too. But is mint on the grip with clear back.

Before 2010, i used screen protectors and cases, because old smartphones (and PDAs) would scratch easily, not the case anymore, and since 2010 my phones is naked 100%

I ordered that one too, waiting for it to arrive in a few days. What I am looking forward to see is a case (like on my Note2) that replaces the back cover and only has a flap that covers the screen. This type of "case" is the thinnest and for me the most interesting. they are not available yet for the Note 4 though. here is a video of what I mean

Best M9 Case/Screen Protector list

Accessory makers are now setting up pre-orders for M9 case, cool and best cases are now showing up in tech shopping sites ItsSkins, Spigen RooCase and other companies already started to offer cases.
Just share here your best founding here.
I am exciting about the new m9
Will do a rank of the case, many reviews, I really hope I can help people to find out the proper cases meet the needs
Ill buy tech armor protectors and a diztronic or tech impact 21 black case. Thats what i had for my m8.
http://mimeusa.com/ has added HTC One (M9) to their dropdown menu listing HTC phones they have tempered glass screen protectors for. The link doesn't go anywhere yet but it pretty much confirms that they'll be making screen protectors for it. I'm planning on getting the 0.15mm Feather Glass screen protector. (I'm hoping it will be the Feather+ Glass with rounded edges that they have for iPhone 6)
I'm not sure yet. I might start with one of the official cases and get a Spiegen on discount.
It's so hard to tell for screen protectors until there are some reviews.... Like with the iphone 6, like NONE of the companies had a good screen protector for my daughter's phone for about a month after the phone came out
htc m9 glass screen protectors
i have been using the following brands for years and can vouch for them both
Casebase
Orzly
I can see links on amazon for both companies.
http://www.amazon.com/Orzly®-Temper...&keywords=htc+m9+orzly+glass+screen+protector
http://www.amazon.co.uk/CaseBase®-P...425420774&sr=8-1&keywords=htc+m9+glass+screen
I hope this helps. The casebase twin pack is really good value. Iv always trusted Orzly because i like there cases. Both companies have a good range of cases online as well
I will buy ivoler case,I once bought the iVoler dot view case for my M8, I absolutely love it. I work for Sprint and I use my phone all day everyday between work and at home. I have to say it has the "wow" factor as well as very usable gestures. I have used several flip case's like this in the past and have had up and down thoughts about them, however this is the best out of all that I have used. Some reviews say that it makes the phone awkward to use with the flap open, however in all honesty anytime you use a case like this its not the same as a naked phone or regular case. The rubber that makes up the front is very soft and is easy to manipulate while folded back, and I have had no problems with it staying flat on the screen. I have carried the phone in levi's as well as slacks and the rubber surprisingly doesn't grab or make it hard to go in and out of the pocket. I did receive the gray case not the black, however I believe the warm black was intended to be this color. I would highly recommend this case to anybody, you will not be dissatisfied unless you have never used a flip style case and at that point you may not like it. Well worth the try and the money!!!
Came across this video on YouTube, features quite a few cool cases. You might want to pause the video to read up on the pros and cons as it goes a little too quick.
I'm hoping for the dot view to come out soon, if not I'll go for a fusion, love that it shows off the back of the phone.
I have used a few of the Aerios branded screen protectors recently and they seem quite good.

IMO Incipio and Spigen make the best cases out of any manufacturer. Sure Otterbox and a few others make cases that provide more protection, but when it comes to quality & style Spigen and Incipio are King.

That's just a standard tpu case that will flood eBay at that price minus shipping soon. It will have rough edges and loose fits on sides. It will yellow and get scratched up within month if not weeks.
Only good for holding you over until better stuff comes.

the description specifically says that the back is "PC" or polycarbonate. the TPU is probably being used as cushion.
The case is a polycarbonate back and TPU bumper, which is the same design as Spigen ultra hybrid crystal clear. The TPU being flexible makes it much easier to put the case on, while the polycarbonate back makes it more protective against drops.

This is the type of case I was looking for.
Just bought one.

I disagree...Look at the reviews for the same case by the same manufacturer for other devices. It's a decent enough case.

Do a search on eBay "nexus case pc back" for example. You will see what at I meant.
Theses things will flood the market at half the price of that Amazon listing.
Full soft tpu case are sometimes less than a buck a piece.
As I said if you need something to hold you over, sure. But don't expect anything good. And it certainly is not a "good deal".
Given the estimated shipping date it may not even get here before my phone.
I've been here before, believe me it's worth spending a couple of more dollars to be on the safe side.
Btw, is it just me or it just makes the deal look shady when they jack up the shipping like that to hide the true price?

Yea, the real cost is hidden in the shipping lol. Re the case though, I just want something thin and light that can still protect from scratches. I had the Spigen Neo hybrid and the other one with the colored back on my note 3 and eventually went caseless because of how much thinner the phone felt without those bulky cases. They look great and do offer a lot of protection but ultimately added too much bulk which is why this current Moko case has attracted me. Not because of the price but because of how little bulk it seems to add in the pics.
Anyhow, if you come across any thin and light cases be sure to post back and let us know, I'm sure I'm not alone in the thin light boat LOL.

yeah, im in the same boat. went through many cases with my n5. including a couple identical to this one being discussed here. i eventually settled on ringke fusion case after a thinner case failed to protect the screen after i dropped it onto concrete from waist height. not sure if the ringke case would have saved it but i feel the extra few mm added around the edges do provide some protection that the thinner cases do not.
these transparent cases look very thin in renders but i can almost guarantee you they are no thinner than any full soft tpu case. these things provide mostly what i would call scratch protection rather than drop protection. my biggest problem however is most of these cases are cheaply made in high volumes from the same factories. most of them will turn yellow quickly and the stiff clear back will get scratched up easily. if you are really lucky, you end up with one that has sharp/rough edge that keeps messing up your screen protector, glass or film.
i have tried everything from backless bumpers (pointless) to amour cases (ugly and bulky). for now i will probably stay with Ringke fusion or one of the several others just like it, at least i know what i will be getting and these companies do have decent customer service to take care of manufacturing or design problems free of charge.

Looked up the Ringke FUSION and it looks great. I see they are having issues re their confirmation of the 6P ship dates but I looked up a review of the Ringke FUSION on the Note 5 and it's great, it's along the lines of what I have in mind, it looks to add very little bulk! Hopefully they get it out soon enough so they can capitalize on the initial surge of sales of 6P accessories.
thanks! Just ordered one myself.
:Canceled my order:
I hate scammy pricing like this. Its basically $5 with free shipping you can't return or get refund if/when its crap.
grabbed one also, thanks OP!

It's a good warning for sure, but it's still $4.99 total for a case that - judging from the company's other products and their reviews - is most likely fine. That's an acceptable risk for me.
If I've learned anything from past experience its that I will settle with the Supcase unicorn beetle case because its awesome. I'll still purchase about a dozen cases, but chances are very likely that I will settle with that one.

What cases are you guys getting? Looking for suggestions.

Hey guys I ordered this ESR tempered glass case for the S10+ as I got it for $7 with a coupon code from tom's guide: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MJG2F21/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 My issue though is, do you guys think this will be sufficient?
It doesn't seem like it would provide that great of protection, I want a case that's decently rugged but doesn't look it. Maybe this case? https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Rugge...&qid=1551115672&sr=8-5&keywords=s10+plus+case

Otterbox defender plus. I have been an avid Otterbox supporter since I got my first one, which I believe was for my Galaxy S6. I have owned multiple variants, but since I have been known to be a little rough with phones I need their top of the line model to feel safe.
Just ordered the UAG blacked out Monarch, Pathfinder and Otterbox Symmetry cases.
I have bought two for my S10+ at very decent price.
- Ultra thin case for everyday commute https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NPJMYF9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
- Rugged (Magpul-like) case for weekend riding or hiking https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MKJX7F2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
A free leather case from Samsung.

Otterbox Symmetry eh? You must be fairly careful and gentle with your phone.
I have this case on my PIxel 3 that I'm trading in and love it. It's super slim and has a grainy texture similar to the black sandstone from the One Plus phones.
https://www.amazon.com/anccer-Compa...m+Cover+for+Samsung+Galaxy+S10+-+Gravel+Black
I'm gonna start off with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear case for everyday use. Ideally, I want a case that's gonna stop me from accidentally palming the Edge screen as that annoyed the hell out of me on the S7 Edge I had for a couple of months. So if anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to them!

This one.... Tempered glass for the back and crystal clear bumper. Going with whitestone dome glass for the front. I know the front is Gorilla Glass 6 and the back is Gorilla Glass 5 but the more glass the better... lol

Found it and it did work. Thanx for the heads up!!!!!
I got this silver rugged kickstand case free as part of my S10+ pre-order!
https://rhinoshield.io/pages/shop/Samsung?device=samsung-galaxy-s10
I'm using rhinoshield case on oneplus6 trash and it is the best case I have ever owned on all my phones.
I'm pretty sure they will make as good case for s10+
I'm looking forward when root and custom rom is ready and get the phone.
also, screen glass protector must be ready as well.
I don't understand why sams cannot offer their own glass protector.
without it I do not want use my phone.
Ive had the spigen neo hybrid for 2 devices in a row with no issues, though it looks redesigned from the version I currently have. Either going with that or Spigen Slim Armor which looks more along the lines of my current neo hybrid.

For those looking super thin cases.
Got a white LED case and a green leather case from Samsung. For day to day, I picked this up:
