Do i just go to the recovery flash the weui and Gapps.zip and voila i have icecream?
Hmm... let's consult the first post of that thread you linked to:
Coming from Gingerbread
1. Reboot to recovery
2. Open/flash the WeUI zip file you downloaded on recovery
3. On the installer choose your device, and select "Data Wipe"
4. Select "Install Now"
5. Your device will reboot to recovery at the start of the installation (if you get a recovery bootloop or it doesn't reboot to recovery, do it manually)
6. Open the WeUI zip file again from recovery
7. The installation will continue where it left off and finish by itself
8. Reboot
Click to collapse
Hi, I have Acer A501.

Then I downloaded this

and extracted whole content to external SD.
Now I don't know how to boot this rom. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Well if you mean to flash a ROM here is a step-by-step instruction guide :
0. Download the ROM and extract it to your SD Card and place it in any folder you want.
1. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP!
2. Select the "-wipe data/factory reset" tab and select "- Yes -- delete all user data" Now, you may be asking, WTF!? why do I need to wipe my phone?! Well this is so the ROM will function properly. To restore your apps from the previous backup use AppExtractor available on the Google Play Store.
3. Goto "- install zip from sdcard"
4. Select "-choose zip from sdcard"
5. Browse through your filesystem and find your ROM.
6. Once you have located it, select it and confirm the install by selecting, "- Yes - Install [Rom Name.zip]"
7. Once the installer says it is completed, go back to the main menu of CWM and select, "-reboot system now"
8. Enjoy your newly flashed ROM!
ROMs are flashed while in a .zip folder
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone if you flash these files to your phone.
