Ok so for some reason the golden strip with the black dot on the power button flex ribbon came off and now I can't press the power button down. Here's a pic of the piece I'm talking about. http://www.techrepublic.com/photos/...=40&tag=siu-container;thumbnail-view-selector Is there a way to fix this without buying a new flex cable. I'm also having the same issue with one of the volume buttons. Thanks
Edit: Just to be clear. I didn't tear the ribbon. The little golden piece of tape with the black dot in it fell off..
No idea. Haven't seen that before since the One's start here at xda.

Is anyone experiencing the same as I am?
The volume buttons attached to the back cover are loose, they move about 1mm to every direction and make a rattling noise if I shake the phone or lay it down on a table. Not the quality I got used to in my Nexus One in 1.5 years.
It is the only thing physically wrong on my Sensation, the growing hate towards the Sense is worth another topic though.
I also had some rattling on my volume keys. It was very annoying but it is an easy fix. Just take out the back cover and you will see that volume points on the phone are flat squared points. You can cut some scotch tape that fits on those volume points. I did about two layers on volume up and one layer of tape on volume down. No more rattling anymore!
Not going to tape my 800$ phone :S after a good night sleep I'm facing the hard decision of returning this one...
Yep up volume button barely responsive. Feels like either the spring crapped out or the contacts themselves are toast. I was in cwm getting ready to flash Black Final when this happened. Tried the up volume and nadda. Pushed really hard and it would work for a second. The button is depressed and won't return to it's proper position although the lover part of the rocker works fine. Rebooted to see and it can't turn up crap anymore. Anyone else run into this? Anyway instead of flashing I'm off to ifxit to get the teardown and see if it's a spring issue.
If anyone has had this and there is an easier fix let me know.
UPDATE and SOLUTION:
Turns out that the plastic housing was pinching the upper portion of the volume rocker. Used ifixits teardown to remove plastic cover. Cleaned all debris from phone with compressed air. Inserted everyone favorite small electronics shim the cut up business card. Re-installed plastic housing. Volume rocker works again.
Does anyone have a quick fix solution, to repair a damaged volume up (replace little aluminum button), without replacing the entire main flex cable? The little aluminum button was damaged, and no longer flexes to contact the PCB. Volume down still works properly. I've searched and the only solution I've seen is replacement of the main ribbon. Please help.
P.S. - I attached an image of the button I'm describing.
Last image did not show up. Hope this one works.
Common problem with the inspire. You have to replace the whole thing including cable that goes to main board. Just about the whole phone has to be disassembled and the new part put in. I know the actual part is pretty cheap. Not a simple task though and no quick fix.

So the dome is cracked in half? Looks like it. One suggestion, maybe try some solder to "fuse the dome back together, maybe just maybe... Otherwise I use flex circuits at my work and I have some of those domes but they are bigger. I could send you some and maybe you could trim it?
One thing I just fixed on my Inspire, the down button wasn't working real well. The domes were fine just had to press real hard. I put a little, thin piece of paper (backing from a sticker) between the little foamy like piece and the flex circuit so the button doesn't move as much when pressed. Worked a charm!
Maybe that will help out others.
If you're unfamiliar, as i was, start at 2:23 on this video and you can how to get the buttons out. Can't post links yet so here's the video title.

Hi ive just repaired my volume flex cable(tore it during digitizer replace) and my volume down button still won't work! After further investigation I noticed that inside the actual housing where the volume button lies there are "painted metal contacts" similar to the ones located on the GPS,simcard cover, and wifi antenna/battery door. I've tried a very small piece of foil with no success, is there some kind of conductive paint for small electronics?

Sensors still work for me
When I was removing the battery to stop a rom that did not work the button or knockers snapped in half. The sensors still work if I reach in there with my nail and I was hoping that there would be a small replacement for these buttons, but I wanted to check here first to make sure that it would not break the sensors and then I would have no way of running AAHK or going into recovery.
Hi, I repaired a HTC One XL Display for a friend. The Problem is a little piece, to push the Power Button is missing now. It is not the plastic button itself, just the piece that gives the impulse to the platine.
This is what i mean http://m.ebay.de/itm/121505332126?nav=SEARCH
Can I order this one or do I have to change the whole flex cable?
Thank you in advance.

Hi, I don't know if you've already fixed it. I recently had the same problem. If you want to save a couple bux you can use alumium foil to make a little contact piece. I did it and pasted to the plastic button that's hold by a little black thing, so when you push it, it makes contact as if it were that piece or button you posted.
I also install Touch-To-Wake and double-tap to make screen off features so i won't need it so much.
Hi my power button suddenly falls off. when i put it back on it wont get a secured fit and is wobbly.
I saw in aliexpress that they offer replacement power button piece. If i purchase it do i still need to disassemble my device or i can just push them back in the power buttons hole and would they get a secured fit?

As our Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is dust and water resistant I almost sure that you must disassemble the device to change the power button.
Let Samsung deal with it if under warranty
