[Q] SMS Not Sending - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I searched the forum and nothing that popped up fits my problem. I run CleanROM with the stock TouchWiz Messaging App. Every now and then, I won't be able to send text messages. Not from stock, not from Handcent or Go... Not at all. I tried clearing data today and that didn't help, either. It will work just fine when I restart my device, but I don't want to have to do that just to send a text message, you know?
Any other suggestions?

XDA IIs Text Messaging application has disappeared

Hi. My battery discharged and my phone did a hard reset. I have resynced, and everything seem fine, except that my sms / text messaging facility has disappeared. I have even tried restoring an old backup, but to no avail. There is no longer an option to send or receive text messages (sms's). If I go into messages, I only get MMS and Outlook as options (and the pop email account I've set up). I recently installed the latest ROM version 3/10/05 which came out in June. Can anyone help? :?:

Check your AT&T Account manager online, make sure you still have a text messaging plan. When I did an upgrade some how it was removed and I just didn't get or receive any texts for a few days.... not even a charge.
i bet your text messaging settings got changed that happened to me but i forgot how to change srry
Finally! Someone else with this problem! I have to do a factory reset or a reflash every time it happens, and it works after that, but I haven't been having any trouble with it since I went back to stock. (No root or any fixes/sideloaded apps, only about 5 apps total installed.)
Did you have any sort of task killer installed?

What is Message Provider 1.0.660928 it is messing up Mightytext for me

If any of you have not tried Mightytext, you should give it a look. It allows you to send text messages via your computer through your phone.
I use Contacts+ for texting and dialing on my phone. For some reason ever since I got my One, I've been receiving duplicate messages for most texts coming in. I never had this problem on my Galaxy S4. I tried deleting Contacts and that solved the duplication problem but I wasn't happy with that solution, I'd rather have Contacts+ that the stock messaging app.
I went into Titanium Backup and tried freezing the messaging app but that didn't work. I also saw something called "Message Provider 1.0.660928" I froze that and the duplication problem stopped. Does anyone know what that app is and do I need it?
Thank you
Z

Problem with stuck SMS app

Having a strange problem since yesterday. Been using GoSMS Pro for ages, together with its emoticon package. Yesterday I wanted to send a message with only one emoticon. I started writing the SMS and put the emoticon, then pressed back to do something else on the phone, so the message ended up in Drafts. Since then, the messaging app is stuck. The app starts fine and I can read all texts and see the draft message with the emoticon, but I cannot write or send new messages, nor receive them. When someone send a SMS to my phone, the delivery notification says it has been receiced by my phone. The button for creating a new message in the stock app is greyed out, and so are the text input area, send and attach buttons. The delete button also is greyed out, hence I cannot delete any messages, including the draft message with the emoticon. I tried this both on the stock app and GoSMS app with the same result. I am not allowed to set default SMS app either.
I run Titanium Backup every night, so I have a backup of previous text messages. Tried restoring the data to no avail. Uninstalled all GoSMS apps. Deleted cache and data of the messaging app. Connected the phone to MyPhone Explorer via PC. When I try to delete the draft message, it says I have to make MyPhone Explorer default message app which the phone won't let me do. Still same problem.
My "setup":
Samsung Galaxy S4
Latest stock ROM for NEE, 4.4.2
Rooted and Philz Touch
Xposed
Please help if you can! Thanks.

Messenger Apps

I have the Mate 9, but Android Messages will not function properly on it. It will only show "Unknown Sender" and will not allow me to reply to messages.
At the bottom, it says "Sender does not allow replies". Anybody else have this issue?
same here. aching for the fix!
i had same problem, switched to Textra app and I love it.
I was having a similar problem with my daughter (using a Samsung Active). Her messages frequently arrived as Unknown Sender, and in group MMS messages her messages would never download. Frequently her simple SMS texts to me would show as "Download Failed". So I switched to Textra and that resolved the issue, but I wasn't happy that I could not use the stock Message program or Android Messages. I called AT&T and they re-provisioned my Mate 9 on the account, and I reset the APN to Default in Settings and now everything works fine. Odd to say the least, but at least it works now.
Yancy
Not talking about mms.
ALL messages are from unknown sender
If rooted, have you tried freezing the stock SMS app? Did you restore your SMS from an application?
Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
Not rooted. All other sms apps work fine.
There is another thread where I answered this question. Do NOT download Google messenger from the play store. For some odd reason it doesn't work. You have to go to apk mirror and download the apk from there. The only way to get rid of unknown sender is to delete all texts and start over with a fresh install from apk mirror. It fixed the MMS problems as well. I don't know why you have to do it. You just do.
So far I got the app to work. First, I downloaded it from the Play Store. Then I deleted my messages. Afterwards, I restarted the phone then it started working.
Bad thing is messages won't appear even after backing them up.
