In recovery before you install the rom you have to have to go to wipe. You wipe all user data, reset it to factory settings, and then wipe the cache. Then try flashing your rom

I did factory reset and wipe user all data, wipe cache, calvin cache, fix permission then flashing rom in sdcard but receive error can't mount sdcard. restart the phone start miui rom

Boot into Recovery and try to mount your sdcard. Connect your One S via USB. You have to install HTC Sync Manager to get the proper drivers! Plus, dont connect it to a USB 3.0 port (in case you have one). For me it only does successfully mount with USB 2.0 ports. Anyways, try that and backup all your photos, music etc. Then try to format your entire sdcard. Put the ROM on it again, fullwipe and flash the ROM. If the error still occurs please tell us which Recovery you use. I had heavy problems with some TWRP versions and could not install anything till i installed the right version of TWRP (older one).

Wiping internal memory

Hello. I use Samsung Captivate smartphone.
When I chose "wipe data" in CWM menu (while installing new rom), it does not wipe it... does anyone know why?
thank you.
wipe data, wipe dalvik cache, wipe everything just to be safe
and when you boot your phone, do a factory reset

What do you mean does wipe? How's your new rom installation result? For custom rom it is needed to wipe otherwise you'll get a boot loop

New ROM is working well, but sometimes it is working slow... and sometimes Dialer is exiting when i want to type digits.
What cwm are you using? I'm on an atrix but I know some cwm on the atrix do not wipe properly and we have to use fastboot to wipe. Not sure how that works on your device.

[Q] Go from one custom ROM to another

Hey everyone. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to this stuff, so bear with me. I have successfully rooted and flashed the "infused" custom ROM on my infuse 4g (which was already running Gingerbread).
- rooted phone
- ran titanium backup
- ran SMS backup
- installed SGS Kernel Flasher
- installed ROM manager
- flash ClockworkMod Recovery (Galaxy S i9000)
- selected full installation for gtg465x infused release
- wiped data and cache (delvik also)
So, I have the "infused ROM" running with no issues at this point. Now I want to try the "emancipation" ROM.
My question is, how to I go from the "infused" custom ROM to the "emancipation" custom ROM? Do I have to do everything listed above all over again, or can I simply just put the emancipation ROM on my SD card and choose to install the ROM?
Thanks
Please Wipe Data/Factory reset and Wipe Cache. *Once the slate is clean, flash in recovery.
If you don't wipe...we don't know where you started and will be unable to help you with your issues.

Just follow the instructions from the developer of the ROM (on OP)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579180
Download Rom and put it on sdcard
Boot into recovery
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvic cache (under advanced)
Choose install Rom from sd card
Locate Rom and flash it
Reboot and enjoy

Wipe system. That's the ROM. You've been dirty flashing from ROM to ROM this whole time.
Backup, wipe data, cache, and system, then flash ROM, then boot.img

Did you check MD5 before flashing? Could be a bad download.
Usually boot loop issues are due to left overs from your previous rom so,
If you're on CWM recovery , use this ORDER :
1.Reset user data/factory reset
2.Format System
3.Format Data
4.Format Cache
5.Format SD card (back up your important files first)..
Then flash the rom ... Don't wipe dalvik it's already in /data
This applies not just to CM10 , use this procedure to any rom flash or any nandroid restore ...

[Q] Bootloop for unknown reason after install CM11 M3 :/

Hi, I'm using Google Nexus 5 from LG Electronics.
Model number in box says it's LG-D821.
Anyway, I'm having trouble with installing CyanogenMod11 on my Nexus 5.
It's not the fist time I installing after-market firmwares in Android device.
I unlocked bootloader via fastboot, installed latest ClockWorkMod non-touch recovery.
Then I installed CyanogenMod11 with ADB sideload, wiped out my data(a factory reset) just for sure.
Also, Installed Google Apps from goo.im/gapps.
I thought it was done, so I rebooted my phone. But it bootloops for 10 minutes.
Checked MD5...nothing is wrong. Downloaded the latest CM11 nightly...bootloop!
What should I do?
I think the order is:
- factory reset
- flash cm
- flash gapps
- reboot
just make sure you have everything backed up (especially EFS backup off the phone - read about it). you could then go back to stock (by flashing factory image), do a full stock boot, copy the CM nighly zip, go back to boot loader flash the recovery of your choice, and follow the cm flashing guide from the internal memory.

I tried wiping data, cache.
Dalvik-cache is included in data, (/data/dalivk-cache).
You don't have to wipe it manually if you wiped data partition.
I'll try installing CM11 using choose zip from sd card.
Thanks!

I know that when u wipe data/factory reset automatically cache and dalvic cache got wiped but most of devs suggest to wipe them manually cause u dont know whether recovery is stable or not ...so i wipe my data-cache-dalvic cache manually and it works with me every time
