[Q] Phone Rebooting By Itself... - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Every since I went to a 4.2 AOSP rom (PAC-Man to be exact) I've been having random reboots with all the roms I try. I had to factory reset and ODIN to get my phone back working. The previous rom I was on which was Axis, had a random reboot and now it just constantly bootloops. Can anybody please tell me why this is happening?

Put another rom on your external card and flash in CW recovery or go flash a backup.

Are you on 4.2 or 4.1.2 rom? and what rom are you currently on thats experiencing the boot loops?

I was running Cyanogenmod9 on my SGH-I727R when I got into a bootloop. I reflashed stock Rogers Rom and still stuck in a boot loop. Any help please?

Can you please be more specific?
What screen are you exactly getting, the boot logo then a reboot? are you getting a recovery screen or do you bootloop not into the system but into ClockworkMod recovery?
The boot boot logo then restart. same thing with the stock rom it would boot into the Rogers logo then restart
Have you tried formatting through recovery? formatting can be found in mounts and storage.
yup, when I get back home I'll see if I can darkside wipe. see if that will help
That should help a lot. It should definitely work, make sure you install a Custom ROM and not a Stock ROM.
Make sure in future situations you don't install a stock ROM if your current ROM is a custom ROM, this can cause problems and will not fix problems. If you want to revert back to Stock ROMs after installing a Custom ROM I highly recommend you use Fastboot to flash the image. However there are tutorials and instructions on how to use Fastboot efficiently and properly so you don't mess anything up.
Cheers
Thanks again, darkside wipe worked. I have no clue what bricked it in the first place though

No problem Wiping everything would've worked too lol!

weird boot loop issue

ok. the phone will not completely boot into a rom (stock or custom). but i have wiped all data, cache, dalvik MANY times, i have flashed stock kernel and rom from samsung. this will start to load the 4G LTE boot animation and just hangs there all night. i have tried the [ROOT] VRALEC Bootchain - Allows us to Odin a custom recovery method and flashed a stock rooted rom also, just either hangs at the 4glte boot screen or just reboots over and over never getting passed the samsung logo at initial power up.
I have tried beanstown, i have tried everything i can seem to find on the forums. same 2 outcomes. I am using ODIN, and i have never had issues with this before (usually test something out every 2-3 days tops).
is there a chance somehow my partition table is all screwed up? i am lost with ideas at the moment.
lol. has this scared everyone off?
does any one have a stock backup of the NANDROID from their phone? i would be great if they could hook me up as i am in desperate need of one.
bump for ANYONE with any ideas on this first post
did you make a back-up? if not, download root66 to your computer and ODIN to that, if you can get into download mode

i can get into download mode, and i have used odin to do root66. reboot and same thing happens and hangs. also flashed stock kernel.
I do not have my backup because either it has erased my internal sd card, or it is not accessing it.

[Q] Cannot instal ROMs, only RSD/FXZ was okay?!

Hi all,
not sure why this predicament is happening to me, but currently I can't push any custom rom to my photon Q...
0. I installed a millions of ROMs and know how to do and using TWRP 2.6
1. Yesterday I experienced several File I/O errors during installing Pac-man ROM.
2. after TWRP full format, Installation was okay and it was also bootable, you can set up your phone just like everyday, but you cannot reboot... stuck in the moto logo everytime you reboot, and I had to RSD/FXZ restore :crying:
3. Nothing can bring this phone back with TWRP, Only RSD / FXZ restore can save the situation...
4. a stock ROM of FXZ seems okay and normally reboot, but I went back to #2, but in vain...
Any clue? My phone's flash simply borked?

yes,i have the same problem,i try a lot times.
use cwmrecovery,it will solve all
Try CWM or Open Recovery. Try also installing custom rom from internal storage.
Thanks for the input, but neither CWM nor open recovery helped a lot after each tests, unfortunately exactly the same problem.
Only the first boot was possible with the first custom ROM right after RSD recovery.
This is extremely weird and I don't understand what this situation means.
Stock ROM looks okay since I can restore from the TWRP backup, but no other roms were recoverable from my last backups none the less flesh installation... stuck in the red moto logo, not even in the boot screen...

Try to remove sdcard and see if phone boots normaly without it.
What is "twrp full format"?
Thanks,
suddenly all got back to normal. I simply don't know what happened and what I have missed. maybe I have been too jittery to wait for a boot time ?
If anyone happened to have experienced any of my symptom, just wait for another min to diagnose something !
BTW, when I refer to 'twrp full format', I meant there was a format menu inside TWRP wipe section.

[Q] ROM issues

I tried following some guide online to get my S3 rooted and running stock Jelly Bean and all was going so well...Casual Root worked like a charm, cyanogen all set. But when I went to install the ROM and Gapps in recovery it kept getting hung up. I assumed this was due to encryption on the device from my work email, so I went back to factory andremoved the account and decrypted the device.
Then it was back to recovery to flash the ROM and Gapps. All seemed to go well, the ROM installed fine, Gapps installed fine, but reboot got stuck at the cyanagenmod loop. I had mad a backup of the original ROM, but I must have saved it to the internal SD card by accident before i factory wiped. I thought my best bet would be to load the Gapps and ROM onto my external SD and flash from there, but I cant get it to mount.
The one good thing that I can do is get to the Odin boot screen. Anyone think there's a chance I can get Odin to flash something that will boot? And does anyone have suggestions of what to flash?

[Q] [Samsung i927] Bootloop error when attempting to flash ROMs, please help

So I'm fairly new to rooted android, custom ROMs and the like but I did a bit of research and decided to root my phone and install a pacman 4.3 build on it. While i was able to succesfully root the phone and have had some success with flashing roms I have run into what seems to be a recurring bootloop issue.
Phone: Samsung Captivate Glide I927
Current OS: Stock Android 4.0.4 ICS
I'll start by describing what I have done so far:
Starting with a factory Android 2.3 phone I rooted my device using the following guide
Next I used odin 3.04 to flash CWM 6.0.2.1 to my phone
I then backed up using CWM, wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache, and flashed kick buttowski's PAC 4.3 build and gapps
Upon rebooting I received a samsung logo and then a black screen with no boot (over 15 min)
After some forum investigation I decided my best bet was to try and flash from a stock ICS build
I restored and attempted to flash a stock ICS zip; phone rebooted with a black screen and a pull down menu only
I restored and flashed a stock ICS tar through odin from here
This worked nearly perfectly as I was finally able to fully boot up, although the wifi will not turn on at all - even after some troubleshooting
I backed up the mostly working stock ICS and pressed forward.
First I had to re-flash CWM through odin as my native recovery mode had returned.
I then flashed the PAC 4.3 build with the same black screen error.
I then flashed bubor's PAC 4.3 build and gapps and was able to boot into the PACMAN startup screen at last....short lived as it displayed a pacman, game over, insert coin startup animation indefinitely (over 15 min)
I tried flashing bubor's CM 10.2 Cyanogen 4.3 and gapps instead and was met with a similar issue - indefinite cyanogen startup circle (over 15 min)
I tried flashing Omni 4.4 as well but was not able to even properly flash this one for a reboot.
I have run into this problem trying to flash a number of ROM's where I get stuck in an infinite bootloop. I have restored, wiped data and wiped caches in between each flash attempt and started from a stock ICS build and at this point don't know what to troubleshoot anymore. Can anyone help me?
