[WARNING USERS] Fake batteries - INFO and PICTURES inside - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

This post is to notify all users of a vendor selling fake batteries in ebay as OEM batteries for Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500 and i9505.
This is the description of item "New 3x 2600mAh OEM Battery + Charger For Samsung Galaxy S 4 IV i9500 i9505 NFC" (26€).
The battery drains about 10% every 30/45 minutes even if phone is in deepsleep or airplane mode. Attached screenshots.
Tested the three batteries.
As you can see in one of the pictures, the Samsung G is larger than the other letters (second post)
The battery weighs less than the original.
I know this is a cheapest price for three batteries, but the seller claims to be original (OEM) batteries. Then, the seller is lying. And, off course, these batteries doesn't have 2600mah.
The user in ebay is ynfang2012 but there may be others selling fake batteries
So, Don't buy these batteries.
Greetings from Barcelona.

Take a look at G letter :silly:

Thanks fir the heads up. So many fakes on ebay..was having trouble deciding which one to buy at minimal cost.

If you want an original samsung battery, the price is about 30-40€ (only 1 battery). If the price is lower the it's a fake.
Recently I've bought an internal 6200mah battery with nfc for my i9505. It's not Samsung original, of course, but it have really 6200mah and nfc. But I only to use it with the long trips because it makes S4 bigger. Not for daily usage.

Thank you for sharing this information!
Did anybody report this seller to eBay? This is an illegal business practice.

I give a negative feedback reporting fake items.
I never had problems buying batteries in ebay...

Updated second post. Included pictures to show how to identify the fake. Letter G is bigger than others.
Added ORIGINAL battery screenshots.

The seller has replied to my pm in ebay that these batteries are a mistake, apologies , blah blah blah. Refund or correct batteries. I don't want my money back. I want 3 ORIGINAL batteries.
But he ask to me to delete the negative feedback.
What would you do?

Take the 3 corrected batteries.

They clearly cannot be trusted, just get your money back.

The seller wrote me this:
Code:
Samsung battery is the [B]real China OEM battery[/B]. [B]Why do you say the battery is false[/B].
I can refund the money or resend the battery for you. However, you may modify the negative feedback. OK?
What is your opinion?
This guy thinks I'm an idiot....
Now, I don't want the money back. I want 3 ORIGINAL batteries

Tell him you'll modify feedback when you receive 3 real OEM batteries.

Thanks.
This is just what I wrote to him. When received and tested.

don' t give up until you get the real OEM batteries:good:
But i usually will not buy Samsung original batteries. The other batteries will be cheaper and not bad.
Recommend the site http://www.yimars.com/Samsung-External-Battery

Lol. Really?
Do you actually think they're going to send you 3 real batteries valued @ over $100.00?
He just wants you to remove the feedback so he can continue to scam people.
Report him to ebay that he's in violation of copyright & trademark infringement. In addition to mail fraud. Then file a claim with PayPal & get your money back.

oh please give it a break. Its not even hard to figure out that they are fake batteries in the first place. He offered you a full refund, take it then leave him alone. Yes it is false advertisement, but its not hard to figure this out before even buying the batteries.

According to description its the same size as the original battery so u wouldnt need an extended cover

There is absolutely no way to physically increase the capacity that far without increasing the size at all. I would never buy from any company that had this as a standard disclaimer:
Posting negative feedback before even giving us opportunity to repair or replace the item will result in void warranty.

shady mo-fo's if you ask me. I mean, of course they have very good feedback, if you risk losing your money by giving them bad feedback.
lol, really? Read the epically huge battery testing thread. Batteries like these are always scams.
Really?
Not to be a hater, but one look at the battery and you should know that it is a fake, not to mention the fact that it is being sold on EBAY (aka SCAMMERS' PARADISE).
Did you looked at his feedback? Or you are a friend of him?
Do not buy it. Thoose are less mah batterys with paper glued so it seems to have bigger mah...

Just installed that app on my Vibrant and it also says 1200 mah. Don't believe it.
The battery capacity (mah) can only be measured by a complete charge/discharge cycle under calibrated and measured conditions. An app snapshot like this can't accurately report total battery capacity. The app may be able to do such a measurement, haven't played with it enough yet, but there's no way for it to do it immediately.
is there any tool (i mean not an app) to check the battery capacity? the accurate one?
I have 2 of them, they're decent batteries. I'm actually looking top sell one of them for 22$ shipped

Discount on Official Samsung Accessories

FYI for those of you just shopping around for something to buy for your new GS4. I registered my GS4 on Samsung's website ( http://www.samsung.com/us/support/register/product ) and by doing so, you get a coupon for 50% off any accessory under $50. To my knowledge, there's no mention of it anywhere on the registration page, but I just got an email.
Of all the things under $50, the one that caught my eye was another 2600mAH battery (listed at $39.99). While steep and you can get 3rd party batteries for cheaper, the 50% brings it to $20. Not too shabby. Other stuff under $50 are bluetooth earpieces, flip covers (not S-version), and a couple chargers and even the Galaxy Multimedia Dock.
Fine print shows that shipping is $3.95 unless your order is over $49.99, which then it's free.
EDIT: Oh, the so called "Galaxy S 4 Spare Battery Charging System" for $49.99 includes a 2600mAH battery, so that might be a better buy than the battery itself because the case acts as a holder/case you can charge at the same time. 50% off means you'd get the case for a $5 difference than the regular battery after discount.

I'm actually not sure since the link I posted was for the Samsung.com/US registration. I'm wondering if you might have to go to the Samsung website for your country.
Never hurts to register though "just in case".

I just noticed that. I think though, you have to move your cart to backorder. What this does is reserve one for you (and they email you) when they actually do get them in stock. I just reserved that extra charger/battery and supposedly they'll email me when they have it in stock.

They don't charge you. There's no way for you to put your payment info. At least when I did it, it just sent me to a page saying my order was placed and when it arrives, i have an option to go to a special checkout page.
So I guess it's more of a "preorder" thing for 50% off.

Ebay Buyers Beware...Counterfiet Galaxy s 4 Batteries

I bought what i thought was authentic GS4 batteries, and from using them for two days I've deducted that they are counterfeit. The battery marked #1 is the genuine battery that came with my GS4, the battery maked #2 is one of several batteries that I've bought on Ebay. Neither of the batteries i bought will charge fully with the genuine GS4 spare battery charging system and neither battery works with NFC as advertised. Buyers beware of any GS4 batteries claiming to be OEM, unless it says genuine OEM and its looks like one on the right in the pic, don't buy it!

Damn!!! Wish I would have known about ectoo usa about a week ago. The other seller is ynfang2012 and I'm reporting them both to ebay and contacting pay pal to inform then of their fraud.
Pretty standard fake battery. I can see a slight indentation running from the start of the "A" in Samsung down between the C and the E of CE. This is probably part of the foam-rubber frame which houses a 750mah (if you're lucky) battery. If you can peel off the label that's probably what's inside. Even knowing this I've been stung. The seller usually has the sense to give a full refund to avoid negative feedback.
Edit - actually I see the numbers are the other way round. D'oh! So much for my career as a CSI..... :silly:
i said this so many times before but people buying OEM battery under $20 are going to be in for a surprise. there's that saying: you get what you pay for.
this doesn't just apply to the S4, there are fake labeled batteries out there for just about every phone..

when it comes from ebay; and a chinese seller, you can never be sure. lots of forgery in that part of the world.
This is news why? It's been happening for years. Still have fake Galaxy S batteries. If you think a brand spanking new battery from China or some odd 3rd party seller on Amazon for $7 is real, you deserve to get taken.

Exactly. The phone is new. OEM batteries won't be dirt cheap. In time they'll get down to the $15-20 range. 3rd party extended batteries from reputable companies tend to be good value. Anker makes some nice ones, usually a few hundred mah's over stock but fit with the stock cover. Just roam around on Amazon. They'll usually come with cheap universal battery chargers. I end up using them to charge a variety of batteries.

I've known this for a long time, if they claim an oem battery costs less than half of the original, and is not sold by a reputable source, bestbuy, (amazon llc direct) samsung etc...
the battery comes from china or Hong Kong, it's more than 99% to be fake.
phones have been my hobby since the startac days, been to Hong Kong many times, some times the fakes are easy to spot, nowadays, they can copy even the holograms.
Only best way to avoid counterfeits is to suck it up and only buy from reputable sources.:good:

The ones the other poster linked, if you click a product, the seller is listed as "ZeroLemon".
The ones you link have the seller listed as "ZeroLemon LLC"... and if you click the comapny name, it give only a list of unavailable products, while clicking the name of the seller in the other opens up a page full of products.
This is a common scam technique, to use a very similar name to a real company to sell fake items or otherwise scam customers.
As for as waiting or not... If the Hyperion making these phone batteries is the same Hyperion that makes batteries for RC use... then the Hyperion batteries should be high quality items.

I got the Hyperion 5200 battery and I have to agree with some of the posts here that it is pointless to get a higher capacity.after 20 hours of usage (the regular battery usually died after 14)I had 45% battery left even though i tried my best to drain the battery before going to sleep and putting the phone on the charger.
it is worth to wait a 7500mah
7500mAH i guess it is almost human being limited for battery producing from zero lemon battery picture,it is hard to believe.....2600mah+4900mah if 4900mah composed by two battery, which battery chips they use? question

[Q] Where do you by your batteries?

So I've seen many threads concerning ebay+batteries = fake. I'd like to ask you guys where you get the not-so-fake batteries from (online). I've seen a couple of places that sell the (supposedly) original ones (A-Grade?) along with another listing for the fake ones which they call 'wholesale' or R-Grade (not sure what the R is for).
I want to know if there are any trusted sources to get an original battery. Tried calling the dealers in my country and they said that they don't issue phone 'parts' unless it's given for repairs.
so yeah,. where do you guys get your batteries from?

If you want to guarantee your battery is OEM than you need to buy it from either your local carrier store, Samsung, or a big box retailer like Best Buy. However, if you do not mind the extra bulk I cannot make a higher recommendation for a Zerolemon Battery/Case. I would link it, but I am a newer user and cannot post links. It is easy to find on Amazon and the price is great at $41.99.

I buy direct from Amazon. In my case amazon.ca.
I work at a busy cell/computer repair shop so we wind up ordering 10+ batteries out per device at a time since you never know when a dozen iphones may come in. We pull our parts from Mengtor and Global Direct Parts.
As far as personal opinion goes, Mengtor parts are generally junk for new(ish) phones. Until it's been out for a year, at least, we pass on any mengtor orders even if we save a decent amount simply because returns are highly frowned upon by us and customers (obviously, who wants to bring their phone back again?). However, After a year, or even two of parts being revised and worked on we migrate over from GDP to Mengtor since the warranty process for faulty parts we order goes through faster and they've worked out the kinks in their junk by then.
Global Direct Parts on the other hand, have never let me down. Sure we've ordered junk parts that are dead on arrival but for the most part they are our main supplier for all, excluding iphone 4/4s and prior iphones (due to well, being over a year old and the previous issues are taken care of).
The cost on GDP right now for you would be 22.89 for a battery on an S4 for Verizon (Here to link)
Our cost is about 15-18$ depending on if they are pushing stock for new orders to their warehouse or willing to hold onto it. Warranty process has always been excellent as well for when we get a bunk battery, or other part. Also, they generally offer OEM and aftermarket parts depending on which you want. The link goes to an OEM variant. Hope this helps!

I want to know if there are any trusted sources to get an original battery. Tried calling the dealers in my country and they said that they don't issue phone 'parts' unless it's given for repairs.
so yeah,. where do you guys get your batteries from?

OEM from Amazon I believe is good.
can't go wrong with OEM
Either amazon or preferably the Samsung store.
I bought ones of these, $8.75 & free 2 day shipping with Amazon Prime.

I've always had good experiences with Anker. They're also available on Amazon, and unlike several of the knockoffs, they guarantee NFC compatibility if they list it.
If u can find a way of shipping items from china's tmall to ur place, they do hv authentic batteries from samsung's factories in china, with the retail packaging and all. It is a cheap option if u can find a way to save on shipping.
If not, I would just get anker batteries as they are reliable.

How about the duration of "non original" batteries. A friend of mine has purchase a couple of them at Amazon and the duration is lower than the original.

I bought mine from Amazon and using some service to ship it to my country, Anker 7800mAh, to be specific. Works like a charm.
I just got an anker 2600mah battery from a local seller. Works great. Will see how long it lasts. My zerolemon lasted around 8 months.

U could find any online seller that has the real deal for a cheaper price if u know how to spot fakes. Otherwise, if u really have to get the samsung one, u gotta pay more to buy it off the official retail stores.
As much as I hate paying Samsung for their horribly overpriced accessories, batteries included, I did end up buying my spare battery from Samsung, but I waited until they had a 50% off accessories sale. I wasn't in a rush, so I just waited until a sale came up. Call it a compromise.
I buy an original samsung battery from aliexpress.com
