Onite 5200mAh Extended Battery review (AT&T) - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

This is a looooong lasting battery! Received the extended battery yesterday and fired it up for a full days worth of use. I literally had to go out of my way to kill it by the end of the day because it would not die. My ATT Samsung Galaxy S4 is stock rooted, with most Samsung gestures and bloatware frozen (via Titanium Backup). The device was tested under the following criterion:
- 25% brightness (was mostly indoors, so did not need the brightness cranked up)
- 100% on 4G LTE (no wifi usage as the LTE modem is usually a power guzzler and i'm usually in a densely covered LTE area anyways)
- Bluetooth was on at all times
- Streamed music for 2 hours via bluetooth to car stereo (maximum volume)
- listened to 1 hour of music via headphones (40% volume)
- heavy web usage and chat programs was continuously engaged throughout the day.
End result? ~9.5 hours screen on time, with 10% left to spare (could easily push to 10.5 hours if I wanted to).
The finish of the extended battery cover was adequate. Fit is fine and easily snaps into place.
If you want me to do any additional testing or anything else, lemme know and i'll try to help!

any comparison pics of size?

Could you do a quick video review of the installation so we can get an idea of how thick this makes the phone?

I almost bought the Anker battery.
But someone shows pictures about Anker's wrong size in another thread.
What a pity!
Does Onite have right size? Does this extended battery fit well?
I hope to see the video of the battery.

Hmm take a picture on the gs4 using flash and compare it to using the oem bsckplate.
I've seen issues in the past where the extneded battery backplate causes a glare effect when using flash.

Seems that if it's too short you could just glue/wedge a piece of cardboard along the bottom edge. Seems like a pretty good way to get 20% more battery life.
Cool!! If these hit $8 let me know!

I bought a $45 1600mAh seidio battery (from amazon), and for some reason the Stock battery was better..
GO figure...
Stock is 5.8mm
Seidio is 6.3mm
(on the widest thickness)
the 1800mAh is in the phone, and i dont feel like pullin it out, but its slightly larger then the Seidio battery.
This battery is way better then stock & Seidio...

This also works for the Vibrant. Pretty sweet for us!
1800mAh Battery Size is:
51.5mm Tall
50.83mm Wide
6.15mm Thick (at thickest point)
So its thinner than the seidio battery
I got my epic on the release day.

there seems to be a possibility that the two hardware version released, hae a different fit for the battery. D700.5 released first, then changed to D700.0.5 a month or so after release

So ive been browsing the forums looking for a new battery. From what i see alot of people are using the galaxy nexus extended battery and the powerskin. My (noob) question is which is the best battery on the market as of today?
Also will the nexus 3800mAh work as well in the skyrocket like the 2100mAh did.

The 2100 maH Galaxy Nexus battery. It's posted all over the forum. About $19-21 at Amazon when it's in stock and they don't try to sneak you an 1850 maH battery like they did me, then tell me the 2100 was out of stock.
May or may not require modification for perfect fit. Fits fine for some, others (like me) had to shave a bit of stuff off the battery to get it to fit perfect.
K thanks, I'll make sure its in stock before they send me stock maH

I just ordered a q-cell 3850mah extended battery. Yes, I know its beastly but I rarely have my phone in my pocket. Its either in my truck or sitting next to me. No modifications are necessary, the battery comes with a new cover.
You do have to charge the phone completely (i let mine charge overnight), then wipe the battery status, then charge it again for at least an hour.
I use a Mugen standard size one. Maybe it's just the way I use it, but it seems to give me a few extra hours a day consistently. I almost never get an extended battery because no one ever seems to make decent protective cases for the phone with it mounted.
I can't say they're the best, or even that great, but I just bought 2 batteries and a charger for $10 on ebay. That way if my phone decides to die, I've got spares.
Just ordered the 2 Anker 2200mAh Li-ion Battery with charger set, should have em tomorrow. Right now I'm getting a full day with moderate usage. Battery seems pretty popular so should do well.
I get about a work day with moderate usage. Text, browsing, tapatalk and about 15 mins of tethering. Mostly text.
About 8-10 hours.
A bigger battery would be convenient but ugly imo.

Wile that is awesome you have a battery that works for you, everyone uses there phone different, for instance i noticed that your screen didn't appear to be on for as long as mine, and you seem to have much better signal in your area than i do in mine. Wile the 2100 may work well for you, with the location and the way i use my phones, i have to have the bigger battery. It's great to see what the 2100 is capable of.
I'll end up getting one of those for my Fiancee, as she needs to be able to use an otterbox case.

Galaxy S4 Spare Batteries

I'm interested to get your opinions on what spare batteries to get for your S4. I've been eyeballing these Anker batteries (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CBTZ2AG/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1369320958&sr=8-2&pi=SL75) but cheaper is always better (for quality batteries). What deals have you found?
Before this turns into a flame fest for battery saving mods, let me tell you that I can drain any phone's battery and I don't mind carrying a spare. I have 3 spares for my Note 2. I rarely cut on wifi and GPS is always enabled. I'd much rather fully drain a battery and pop in a fresh one than plug in my phone for any amount of time. So please keep the discussion about batteries and not how to limit yourself and save battery.

I'm right there with you on the level of phone abuse. I'm coming from the S3 and I carried 4 extra batteries and have killed 4 in a day. I don't have any real stats yet because its day 1 on this phone, but I bought 2 of the onite batteries from Amazon, with the charger. I don't have any issues with fit.etc and so far.today they are holding up as good as my S3 batteries would. I'll update in a day or two with the battery life

The stock one is 2600mAh with NFC while this one is 3000mAh without NFC.

Already ordered mine. Cant wait to test this out. With my usage habits, the max screen-on time I was able to get out of my OEM battery was bit over 5 hrs (autobrightness). Let's see how much more time this ZeroLemon can add.

I get the same battery life as you and it practically lasts me the whole day and then some. The Zerolemon will probably give an extra hour or so screen on time assuming the mAh rating is correct.

I bought it primarily as an oem-sized backup battery. Instead of buying OEM, I'm just buying from ZeroLemon. I already have zerolemon's 7500mah for long hauls.
I'll probably wait for the official samsung extended battery. It's always good, NFC and marginally thicker.
i'll be curious to hear how they hold up charge length wise to the oem batteries once people have had a chance to charge/discharge them for awhile. Hopefully it will be good.
Any way to get this in the UK? Amazon.com's shipping costs are high and takes ages!
What thickness is this compared to stock battery? I looked around but didn't find anything.

If I remember correctly, this battery is the same size as the stock one.

I just put in an order today for just the single battery, very excited! It does look promising from that one review here
http://www.amazon.com/warranty-Zero...dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1
Although I'll see how it is once I actually get it. I'll keep you guys posted for those that are hesitant to buy!
Just bought one as well. I love hte 7500mah extended battery, but if I'm ever in the slim mood, I'll surely turn to this over stock.
I've never used NFC and don't really plan on it.
I wonder why they don't include NFC? Maybe dropping it allows them to squeeze in more cells? Odd that they drop while most others include it.

thanks man.
Just ordered
I may pick one of these up to use with the OEM wireless charging cover...it has a built in NFC antenna.
But I will probably wait for six months and get some wear out of the stock battery.

Can someone explain to me why we have Nfc but Google wallet doesn't work on our device? I know you can install it rooted, but I find it straight that it doesn't work out of the box. Is there another payment system that people use other than Google wallet? I know people use it for settings and exchanging pics and all that, so I get that part. Just making sure I'm not missing something....

Stock-size aftermarket battery larger than 2600mAh?

I saw a while back there was a thread about a larger capacity stock-size battery that was good, I searched, but couldn't find it. Is the Anker 2600 mHa still the best aftermarket battery?
Thanks
The ZeroLemon 3000mAh battery fits in original back cover but it's a tight fit and doesn't have NFC as it's 400mAh more

hey, thanks! The non-NFC is a deal breaker for me, however I saw a couple reviews on Amazon that said that the NFC DID work?! Confused.
They must be very confused lol it simply doesn't have an nfc receiver.

Opteka - http://opteka.com/s4batt.aspx.
Doesn't have the NFC antennae from what I can tell in my phone.
Fits fine. Battery does last longer after a few cycles.
I am at 91% after 3h 8m. I have syncing on, along with GPS and BT.
I bought a Note 2 NFC antennae to put in the cover of my phone.
They are supposed to work and I'll gamble at $4.

The battery is great though.
Check out the youtube videos on Note 2 NFC in a GS4.
^^ Thanks. I'm going to give that a try too. Youtube link. This NFC antenna is combined with a Qi receiver (can't go wrong buying something from a seller named Cutie Honey. LOL)
Opteka 3000 is cheaper on Amazon with free Prime shipping.
The RAVPower is conservatively rated at 2800 but gets good rating.
This AceSoft battery makes a bold claim of 3380 mAh with NFC at stock size, but that's too good to be true for me, though the seller (SodaPop) has a good 4.9 rating.

PolarCell 2900 mAh battery:
- it HAS NFC
- it's the SAME SIZE AS STOCK BATTERY
- it gives GENUINE 2900 mAh

Can't read anything on that page. It's all German to me.......
Anyway I haven't seen any aftermarket battery that actually does the NFC.
If this one does, I'd be shocked. The Opteka claims it does but my phone won't do NFC.
Anyway, that dual charging and NFC sticker looks cool.
You don't have to worry about either.
I might just spend the $10.

ANY?! The Anker does NFC beautifully.
Okay. I haven't tried them all.
But is the Anker 3000mAh??

The whole premise here is silly. If there were some easily sourceable way to get more than 2600mah from that size without dropping NFC, Samsung would have put it in themselves.
hello
im using the zerolemon 3000 mah battery and I havn't noticed anything different then the stock battery, I only charged it for 8 hours first time as the instructions said and now on my 2nd charge? Is it suppose to get better with time????? screen brightness is all the way down.

COST????
There are tradeoffs. They may not have wanted to add the few pennies cost.

It took mine about five or six cycles before it started getting better than stock. I think mine started off about 2700 or so. Not I'm getting about 3100 out of it.

It's not about physics. It's about the phones ability to recognize the cutoff voltage of the battery, no it doesn't gain actual capacity(actually, per every cycle it loses capacity). It just gives the phones software a frame of reference for when to shut down at a critical point. Early in the batteries life the phone has to learn the limits of thay battery. That's why our phones store battery stats. I should have worded my response better, but that's not ignoring the physics. The reason that Zerolemons have a higher capacity is strictly because they are larger, albeit slightly, than the stock batteries. They don't use special cells that have more internal energy available to them. This is a slight illustration of what I am talking about. I didn't take any screen shots when it was registering less than 3k, but after every cycle it would increase the frame of reference that the phone is using.

It took a few cycles before the Opteka battery behaved better than stock. Now waiting for the NFL antennae. But 3000mah is pretty cool.
