I can't see why you can't use the latest boot.img. It contains the CM kernel what is required to make that ROM work. If you open the AOKP.zip you should find the latest boot.img for you to use. Extract it using WinRar or something similar and flash it using flashtool.

just flash caf kernel boot.img in cm11 if you allready have...extract you'll found it!!

Are you talking about the boot animation? boot.img is the kernel file.

It works only when you have a custom recovery like TWRP.

No.
And if you are rooted, you already may have lost the chance of receiving OTAs.
Especially since you can't flash the OTA using a custom recovery.
