Hi i have a problem, How to set permission to the external card, because i cant browse the pictures, documents, another example: I take a picture and save automatically to extSD (cant open new photos). When I set permission 777 (root explorer) the selected item , everything works fine - I can browse the pictures.
I swapped internal memory with external by: extsd2internalsd2_mattiadj_and_infx_6
My platform.xml file:
<permission name="android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
</permission>
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>

Your problem is the me more you swap you did. Normally you would not have a problem as the gallery would pick up both internal and external. To be honest that memory swap is wasted and pointless on most devices.

Yes, the best thing for you to do would be to remove the swap.

So I've read about a patch that allows for mounting of internal storage as RW.
Its a bit annoying to have to plug in my xoom to the pc just to save something to external sd. Root explorer FC's on open and Total Commander can't always mount RW
What to do? What to do?
root
es file explorer
ssh
ftp
...
Use your favorite method to edit the permissions in /data/etc/platform.xml to look like this:
Code:
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
Hi friends, I want to use my microsd card, however I don't like the fact that it will be encrypted and won't work with other devices
I like how it operated back in kickkat. there were mods/app to mount it as /Storage/ExternalSD or something
I did some googling and found out supposedly you could regain this function by running xposed.
I installed xposed and tried XinternalSD module and HandleExternalStorage but still can't seem to have microsd behave same as it did....
I am just curious if anyone has MicroSd working without employing Adopted Storage; that is free from any permission limitation.
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
</permission>
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>

tried this entry in system/etc/permission/platform.xml but failed to make any difference
Suffering the same problem.....
Hi everyone.I was wanted to expand my memory for my apps with my MicroSD card and I read some instruction here how to achive this with Link2SD.The problem is when I make partitions with MiniTool Partition Wizard,one FAT32 with 10GB size and 2nd one with a little more then 4GB in ext4 format,the phone recognize only the one in FAT32 and it say that other partition is corrupted.Then when I click on prepare SD card the phone format the whole SD card and I get the one big partition with entire space of SD card.I was try again with the same settings and without preparing SD with phone,click on Link2SD and when I choose on welcome screen ext4 partition,Link2SD got an error message that some script cannot be loaded and that's it.Can you please tell me is the any solution for this?Thanks in advance.
Install TWRP, and format the SDcard using that.
edit your permission first on system/etc/platform.xml then find
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
</permission>
add this before </permission>
<group gid="media_rw" />
until it become like this
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE">
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
Save and exit .
move platform.xml.bak for the backup files
Reboot your phone and check again your platform.xml ,
it's work for Kitkat and above.
Thanks for the help guys.I solve the problem with App2sd app.I was partition my SD catd with it and now everythig works fine.It' similar app to Link2sd and it does the job very well.
Hi !
On my Samsung S5 dual sim (rooted) running marshmallow, I would like to authorize any application to write to external sd card (even it's not too secure).
In "/system/etc/permissions", I don't find
"WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission". Is it possible to add:
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
To authorize any application to write on external sd card ?
Thank you for your help.
