Gapps is only for the Google Services Framework and Play Store. It's used to sign into a Google Account during setup. You can install the individual apps such as Gmail and YouTube by visiting the link on the Play Store.
If you don't flash gapps you won't have the Play Store and won't be able to sign in with a Google Account.
Ok thanks that's I thought.
Thanks a lot for your reply

Google Now Launcher is working on my Galaxy Tab 7.7
Maybe you want to try.
Take a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2561057, download and install Google Search and Google Home apk. Maybe it's necessary to install new Google play services first.
And done.
Works great on my device.

I'm on Stock ROM 4.1.2. Google Play Services 4.2.43 and Google search 3.2.17 are up to date. Then install Google Now Launcher 0.10.1.920880. Get it here: http://www.share-online.biz/dl/3UO7AY1NS60
Done Worked great for me.
In the meantime Google releases an official Version of it's Launcher which only works on Android 4.4 KitKat.

I don't know where you're from but if you're fine with English language stock Rom from Singapore works great. But to be honest it's not snappier or more stable it's just nicer. The new stuff works finally
So, I am on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus (p6210) running SlimKat 4.6, I love the ROM, but on the SlimKat website it says to do this when you're installing SlimKat "Download the latest SlimKat and latest gapps for your device" which I have both of those. This ROM is perfect, besides the fact that I can't have Google Play Store. Everything seems to be working, but when I install gapps, I don't even get Google Play Store. I have found the Google Play store .apk online, but when I open it, it just crashes Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I have had a similar issue on my stock samsung where this happens.
Go to this link you should find the latest google play there to install or just use this store. (PS i commend a good anti virus on your tab this is sort of a black market for android )

Hi
You have to flash Google Apps (GApps) right after installing CyanogenMod. A couple of suggestions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/slimroms/general/gapps-official-slim-gapps-trds-slimkat-t2792842
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tk-gapps-t3116347
Thank you for using XDA Assist.
Hi friends,
I have rooted my Nexus 5 device, and this is first I am going to flash custom ROM. As I like MIUI, I have flashed MIUI v7 from http://en.miui.com/download-232.html. I have successful boot and running smooth. But I cannot install google play store apps. I have directly installed "Google installer" from MIUI app store. But it does not worked. Then as per http://en.miui.com/thread-235581-1-1.html this link I have downloaded "New Google installer apk" and tried but same message. I have attached the screen shot please help me out with this problem. I have searched forum before posting but could not found any solution. Thank you.

HI friends, It is working fine now, I have removed account and added again. Thank you.
Hi. I have read that there is a lot of stuff that can be done with a rooted phone.
I rooted my Galaxy S7 (SM-G930T), Baseband version G930TUVS9CSC1, Android version 8.0 (Oreo) with one of the guides I found here.
If I uninstall updates of the Playstore it goes down to version 10. I would like to have version 8 or lower. Is that even possible? Can I uninstall the current Playstore and install the one from Nougat for example? Do I have to replace the Google Play Services app too? Would it still work?
If it can be done, could someone please guide me on how to do it?
Thank you
You can flash any playstore app doesn't matter if you're rooted or not. It will replace the existing play store. No need to flash something else. You can find various versions of play store e.g. here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...2-android-apk-download/download/?forcebaseapk
