Have you tried downloading any lewa ROM with the same android version you have and extract it from it?
Enviado desde mi Nexus 7

lewa os? you can dump it in lewa rom file

I tried to extract it from a lewa rom, and install it, but it does not run at all...

Actually, what i've tried is:
- Mount system as R/W
- Use Titanium Backup to extract the app from a nandroid backup
No results. Restore ends apparently ok, but no changes on clock app.
I am restoring "clock.apk". Is this correct or the app I am after has another name?
Thanks.

Also tried to restore to external sd card with TB, but no app appears in the sd card. TB says restore OK.

Tried this with no luck:
Extract deskclock.apk and deskclock.odex from stock lewa rom (THL W8)
Copy both to external sd card
backup system\deskclock.apk and system\deskclock.odex
replace files with files on external card
verify permissions
reboot recovery
clean cache and clean dalvik cache
reboot
Clock app does not show as installed, and cannot start it from launcher clock...
Maybe I cannot do this with an odexed app...

That was just I was about to tell you. Have you tried deodexing the ROM before extracting the APK? LeWa ROMs have their own framework-layer as well, so they may not be simply copied and pasted and may need porting

[Q] Application PORT from other roms

I like the backup and DND application of MIUI. so
1) I copied those application by using root explorer.
2) Copied those apps in Computer and changed extension to .zip
3) opened that app using winrar
4) removed META-INF folder
5) Resigned app using my key
6) again copied to SD card
7) Finally i got success to install that to my phone(Desire S stock ROM)
Now, When i try to open that backup and DND application, It shows Force Close message. What is Wrong? Please Help.
I also used Backsmali to deodex some system applications and made classes.dex and packed into apk and resigned, but program is not installing and if it installs, then not working. can someone help me to port system apps from another ROM to my stock ROM?

[Q] Adding Titanium Backup to custom rom

I'm running a custom rom (CM7.2-RC3-APOCALYPSE-BAREBONE v12-06-12, by itasoulas, based on CM7.2 RC3 by vo-1 v31-05-12) on my Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830D). I'm about to flash a newer version of the custom rom, but I wanted to add Titanium Backup and S2E to the rom, so that my ext partition is mounted automatically after flashing, and Titanium Backup is already on and ready to restore.
I have the apk files for S2E & Titanium, do I just add them to the system/app folder in the rom zip? Or do I put them in the data/app folder, in which case I'd have to create said folder in the rom zip? Please let me know, as it would let me eliminate a whole 2/3 steps in the flash/restore process (flash->install S2E->reboot to mount ext->install Titanium->restore becomes flash->restore).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd post this in the CM7.2-RC3-APOCALYPSE thread, but this is my first post and I'm not allowed to post there yet.
As you can see, I didn't get any response from my post, so I rolled the dice and went for it.
So here's how it works for those who don't know:
To add system apps to a rom, place the apk files in the system/app folder in the zip. If you want the apps installed as user apps, place them in the data/app folder in the zip. Worked like a charm. I flashed, booted, configured S2E (installed w/rom), rebooted, ran Titanium Backup and restored everything.
BTW, I was also able to add the APN info for my carrier into the rom. You can do that by editing the apns-conf file in the system/etc folder in the zip. This is handy because when I flash a custom rom I have no APNs set up, as well as no wireless networks saved, so by doing this I was able to run the initial setup when you first reboot the phone (instead of just skipping it, missing Gapps, and adding my account later).
Hope this helped for anyone who is interested.
Neat. Though I'd likely keep titanium as a user app, I'm definitely going to try this.

There is an app to move apps from users space to system space available on the google play. It is called app-mover. It is simple tool. If you are already using link2sd then there is a menu option for moving the apps.

You have most probably messed the systemUI.apk which is located in /system/app or files associated with it. Did you remove any other apk's in which you weren't sure what it does?
In this case, Factory reset won't work because it just wipes user data and /system partition remains in tact. The nearest possible thing to do is to flash a stock ROM if exists or copy the deleted apk's borrowing from some one else's phone and place those apk's in /system/app partition setting the correct permission.
I remember exactly what I deleted. I I uninstalled Dhingana.com, Facebook and Rail yatra. I cannot start third party apps though I can install them. So I am not sure how to place the systemUI.apk in the directory /system/app. Can it be done through inbuilt file manager?

Nope, I guess not possible through default file manager. You have to use ES File Explorer File Manager or Root Explorer to place it in /system/app and change its permissions to rw-r-r.

Make sure you've mounted the /system partition as R/W before attempting to Copy or setting permissions.

[Q] Settings-->Themes

There is this option called Themes in the settings menu. consider me a complete newbie and tell me how that works(Like does it help in changing themes if so how do I do it).
There is no option called themes on the stock Rom. What are you running?

A custom ROM dev may choose to add the new CM theme engine to his/her ROM. If you were to install a theme (via Play Store or .apk from XDA, NOT themes that you flash or where you modify files) you use the theme manager to use the theme.

You deleted a symlink that linked to your internal storage, thus it deleted everything. You can't see the symlink in a file explorer while in Android but while connected to a PC, you can.

wow never expected it to be so complicated. Does this symbolic link show up only in custom rom's, if no then normal users like myself would probably mistake it for an empty folder and delete it.
Thanks for the explanation.

It exists in any ROM. You shouldn't delete anything if you don't know what it is.
