TETHER ON LG THRILL 4G(stock ICS) - LG Optimus 3D

does anyone know how to enable tethering on stock ICS for LG thrill 4G?

EDIT: sorry, it's late and I'm tired. I thought you meant wifi/hotspot tethering. Anyway, regarding that:
I tried it a few times with a phone I had around (Motorola Droid 1).
The Droid sees the hotspot but won't connect even though I entered the password correctly.
Maybe I don't have some wifi setting configured properly on one of the devices...
Does anyone else have this working?
As far as USB tether, I have no idea...

LG intentionally broke WiFi tethering, upon AT&T's anti-tethering policy. Sorry to say. Anyhow, I don't know definite workaround just yet - Barnacle WiFi hotspot worked on Gingerbread though.

You can try this:

Not in ICS but does Tether work in V30a if yes it should be possible to make it work on V30B

I am glad I don't have to deal with AT&T. All your tethers are belong to us. Good grief.
Tethering is an interesting feature, but I would only use it once in a.... well, never.

try change build.prop to this
ro.build.target_country=EU
ro.build.target_operator=OPEN

v30C is already set that way...

Well, I tried on CM10, it asks for WiFi address ports (Barnacle work its way halfway but then quits, tossing out WiFi-related errors).

Hey Dr.,
I found this. It purports to fix broken tethering on some roms... I haven't tried it.

What of using sglite editor to change (tether_entitlement_check_state) change value from 1 to 0 (Zero)??? That should work only that the last time I tried, I messed up my settings.DB file

Thanks alot! That finally worked! Managed to go around the network verification! USB tethering now works but Wi-Fi tethering still has some issue, it shows turned on but I can't get the signal using another device

drastic00, it should work because of WiFi socket error, so what it should do is to generate DNS server internally instead of relying on external ones (the reason for tethering breakage on some CyanogenMod ROMs). Will give it a try.

Code:
chmod 755
rw-rw-rw

Right now whenever I try to go to wifi tethering, this is what I get

Try Dalvik-cache and cache wipe - it usually fix that.

[Q] Tetheringguard.apk

Any ideas what it does? It runs as a service com.htc.tetheringguard
Just installed the OTA update and noticed this. If you stop the service it doesnt reload unless you open the mobile hotspot app. Think the free hotspot block can be removed by removing the service? That seems way too easy...

It certainly does seem too easy. Brilliant solution if it works though.
Easy test, turn it off, try to use another tethering app.
I am debating between doing and not doing the update because I like the free WiFi hotspot; I can be cheap
Can someone with the update try it?
I tried freezing it with titanium backup Pro, but it just rendered the mobile hotspot inoperable.

If you're already rooted you might as well just use the wireless tether app, or the one built into cm7.

Does the wireless tether app tether 4G or just 3G? Download link anyone?

4G as long as you have 4G available. If you use this version, make sure you select the option in settings for HTC related to the LAN.

Portable Hotspot

Does portable hotspots work for anyone? I didn't know if there was a monthly charge to get it working but everytime I try using it the other device can't connect

If you're using an unrooted stock rom, then I believe you have to be a subscriber to T-mobile's add-on hotspot plan. If you're using a rooted custom rom, like CM7, then it's built-in...and the only thing you have to worry about is your data usage.

Did you set up encryption or leave the security open? I'm on the gingerbread update unrooted and my hotspot works fine. It worked fine on froyo stock unrooted as well.

yeah how can the cellular co's dictate how we can use our data ?
does it stress the towers more using wifi hotspot to our laptop ?
Somebody should do something about this , what can we do ?

Did they see the hotspot? Also it times out after a period of inactivity, perhaps it had timed out before you connected the laptop.
Maybe even try with encryption on.
I can also verify that the stock unrooted Froyo ROM does tethering without anything special in your plan.

[Q]WIFI Expert?

I searched but could not find the answer. What file are needed for WiFi? Can I copy ones from a JVQ rom to a JVT rom? My wifi keeps dropping out on Juwe's Smart Edition rom that I using Hellraiser 1.0 on.

No, it just randomy goes off. Its not my router. I think it has something to do with the rom I was trying to port. DlevROM wifi works great, so does this one if it stays on. Went off three times since I started typing this. I wonder if my data can shut of my wifi? I tried the wifi fixer from market , but no sucess.

I already tried the wifi fixing apps. No luck. I know its related to Juwe's Rom because it does not happen on DlevRom.
Help? I know it has something to do with dhcpcd and the wifi folder, kernel and probably something else, but I can't figure it out.

Anyone with some knowledge about wifi please help. Need guidance.
So i called samsung about this issue today because this is the 2nd infuse with same wifi issues and both were stock. This one now is rooted with dlev rom. Still same issue. I refer people to call samsung everyday for this issue when they call in. Samsung emailed me the shipping label to send via ups to the repair place. 5 to 7 days for them to fix it he said. Dont let anyone say its your router. Its not its the wifi chip in the phone.

Noob mobile hotspots issue

Hello. I am really new to all this and I have a problem that I can't seem to find similar posts explaining or having the same issue. I have the supercm7 v1 rom on my infuse4g and the mobile hotspots won't work. A user can connect to it and we even saw that he could get an IP address and DNS was working. But no data, cannot load any webpages or anything. I looked at the apn settings and played around with them with different suggestions with no luck. Any ideas? Thank you

Tethering works on ICS-Leak?

Does tethering work on the ics-Leak?
I've tried both the usb tether and the wife tether (I've disabled the entitlements check) but none work. On both tether, I got connected, got an ip address but traffic are block. When I do a trace route, only the first hop replies.
Any ideas?

As I've said in the OP, I've disabled entitlements check and because I got an ip address, it shows that my notebook was connected to my phone.
I could only think two possibility :
- the phone for some reason is not forwarding traffic
Or
- my operator somehow knows about my tethering and refuse it. This one is unlikely, because my wife uses evo3d on the same operator and tethering works.

i am having the same problem. it shows im connected but the i get "data link lost errot"
Works for me after changing the entitlement check
Ok i have finally got my Wi-Fi Hotspot working. i disabled the entitlement check but that alone did do it for me.
Using SQLite
open settings storage (com.motorola.android.providers.settings
settings.db
settings
on my phone lines 117 and 118 are dun_apn_changeable and dun_enable
Change both of their values to 1
I dont know if it will work for others but it worked for me. (im on straight talk)
I tried everything posted here with no luck. Finally just installed foxfi. Works like a charm.

Has anyone gotten FoxFi to work with Bluetooth tethering?
I know that WiFi tethering is faster, etc., but I'm interested in Bluetooth's battery life advantage.
Thanks
