Hello everyone!
I'm with a small problem with my Htc one s.
I've flashed the LiquidSmooth 2.3.1 in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2194095
It's a great rom and i'm happy with it but i just have a small problem and i've tried to search for an anwser but with no sucess.
The limit cap on the messages app it's 160 characters, after that it turns the sms into an mms.
Can i reverse this with some .apk? (do not want another app)
Thanks in advance!
Pedro Pinto
Can't you change this in the SMS settings?

I cant find any type of SMS settings for the stock app.
In the SMS app theres two buttons one for new SMS and the other is search.
In the settings of the phone the only thing related that i find is in the security options one setting for limiting the number of SMS that a app can use.

is there any reason why handcent would not be showing up in the market? all help is appreciated.
You rooted?

Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App
For some reason it doesn't show up in the market. Google Handcent and go into "forums" then "research" and you can download it from there. Just make sure to check the box in settings to allow non-market apps to be installed then change back when you are done
no, sorry. Not rooted, completly stock. ive searched, rebooted and looked several times and still nothing
You have to go to www.handcent.com and then to news and download the file maunally. its some kind of bug where the market place isnt listing it
It is back in the market and working great on my Evo as of today
The default app isnt to bad. Besides more customization is it really any faster or anything?
I tried Handcent and removed it right way. For some reason when scrolling up and down there is a little lag. I don't mind the default one anyway. I'm trying to install SMS popup just have to find that apk.
I have a question, I installed Handcent, and i like it, But when I get a text message, both handcent and the default mms client notify me. how can I disable the default client?
You can go to the stock settings and disable auto retrieve and notifications.
Sorry for my ignorance but ive searched through all the settings and cant find those settings. Can you point me in the right direction please.

Is this possible? I really like the stock texting app, but I am unable to have a text sent without having to click on the touchscreen. Every other app in the world allows you to hit enter to send, but this one gives a new line. In a text. Which is pointless.
Any help would be great.
Go into settings in the stock app there's a option to send with enter click it

Hmm, I've gone into the settings again, and see no option for it. I am running stock KD1 with the stock messaging app. In the new message (aka universal composer) screen, settings only lets me choose which services to show. In the all messages screen, settings gives me a bunch storage and options, but none are related.
I am familiar with the plain vanilla android messenger app's setting for send on enter, but the sidekick I got doesn't have that.
And you have a different Rom listed on your signature. Could that have a different messaging app than me?

Personally I prefer it this way, after having sent piles of half-finished texts from my G1 while trying to backspace or go for a letter. It's nearly impossible to send a text by accident now.
Where did Menu + M go? It should have been included.

Try extreme call blocker.
Block all unwanted calls, secure private text messages, ensure privacy. This app is now fully compatible with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), with pickup-hangup feature. *** LG phone users, if the blocked calls are answered but not hangup, please enable "LG mode" option in "Application Configuration".
Not free, been using it for a week works great.

GO SMS has this feature, although I haven't tried it out. Its a free app and is MUCH better than the stock messaging app.
In the app go to Menu > Settings > Services > Auto Reply. Then you're given a settings window that includes 3 pre-defined auto reply messages. Press directly on the text of one of the messages and it will give you options to change the message; change whether it's sent after a missed/rejected call, an incoming text, or both; and there are other options too. Like I said I haven't tried, but I've used GO SMS for quite some time and its a very reliable app so I'd be surprised if it doesn't work.
+1 on miui.us
Just checked and it has the option you want but it involves rooting and flashing a custom rom, guess your best bet would be the apps mentioned above.
I already flashed a custom rom on her phone so that's not a problem. The problem would be her not being very accepting of an entirely new UI and bugs. I'll give them apps a try. I installed handcent sms on it I'll see if it has an option.

Just tested it with GO SMS and it works beautifully. If Handcent doesn't have it definitely give GO SMS a try. I actually used Handcent before and I like GO better.

Reject++
If you are looking for an app to let you reject incoming calls with predefined or custom SMS and setup a reminder to return a call as well..
so check Reject++
You can:
- Reject a call with SMS, Reminder, Or Both.
- Convenient Slider on top of incoming call screen, slider it up and go with Reject++
- Smart SMS Templates with "Tags"
- Smart Reminders Scheduling Engine.
- Works with mobile screen locked or OFF
- Notifications works no matter if the app is active or not.
Check much more Features & Screenshots for Reject++
I've seen a few apps in the Play Store (mostly just plugins for alternative SMS hosts like GoSMS) like Emoji Keyboard and Emoji Codec that I couldn't get to work. Then I attempted a method I found in the description of Emoji Keyboard's app information which involved replacing a file in system/fonts through root explorer. I know I did everything in the instructions but it didn't work for whatever reason.
I want to be able to send and receive emojis (at the very least, with someone using the same app as me) inter-Android and with iOS also if possible. Any possible app/method? I'm running CM10 8/16 build but will be updating to the 8/23 build that's coming.
And I'd prefer not to use What's App. Thanks in advance!

My experience with CM10:
the only way to access emojis is through the messaging app. They can be sent through text messages by pressing the menu button and selecting “insert emojis" provided that you have emoji support enabled in messaging settings. (From my experience, only later builds of CM10 have emoji support. That's source code though and has nothing to do with our brilliant devs).
To get emojis into Facebook you need to use a copy-paste workaround.
1) Enter stock messaging app and go to a conversation.
2) Press the menu button
3) Select insert emojis
4) Select desired emojis
5) Press back button to return to the message.
6) Copy the emojis and paste them into Facebook
Most should work, some might not. It's hit or miss. Peace sign, thumbs up, hearts and many more are on the working list.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Just wish they would intergrate them more into other apps such as FB. That copy and paste method just takes up to much time. Olus i think they could revamp some of them as they are pretty stupid, maybe add the finger, We all know that we would like that one once in awhile. :good:

I more recently flashed an emoji keyboard from the BaNkS GApps thread which you enable in input settings. So I use the selector notification every time I input text. Looks like this.

I was used to hide unwanted sms by hide sms and calls apps, but none of them works in 4.4+, probably because of high priority of hangouts.
It wont work even when I change default SMS app to 8sms, handscent SMS, etc...
Incoming SMS still appears in default SMS app and is not hidden.
Any solution please?

Yea, but I want to use one default sms app for standart sms. And for SMS from people I want to hide I need to use for example https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartanuj.sms
This app allows me hide SMS and Calls from just exact people I want to. But problem is, that SMS which shoud be hidden is still shown also in the default SMS app.

So finally I solved this issue...maybe it helps someone.
Hide it pro and most of other apps dont work, they dont hide SMS of choosen people, because of SMS high priority in 4.4+ Android.
So doesnt metter if you freeze Hangouts or not. Any other SMS app you will install will show SMS which should be hidden.
Solution:
1 - Forbid the Hangouts to send SMS
2 - Install Hide SMS&Contact -Private Text https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thinkyeah.privatespacefree&hl=cs
3 - Replace default SMS sender by Messaging Classic - 4.4 Kitkat https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thinkyeah.message
Now SMS hiding by "Hide SMS&Contact -Private Text" app is working.
For now its the only one solution and the only working SMS hide app I found. I tried many of them, but only this one works.
If youll find any better, let me know - this one is far away from SMS hiding app I was used to use.

Thanks for this! I was looking for one for the last two weeks as well. I was happily using Hide It Pro in my Galaxy Nexus before but now in my Nexus 5 it got screwed up. I hope the developer updates that app soon.
In the last week I was using an app called Private Place - there was no need to change the default SMS app (it was Hangouts). It worked pretty well. But the trial ended today (a week) and the Pro version costs $7 - which I might consider after checking out Hide SMS & Contact app you posted (the Pro version of that is cheaper at $3.6; but I couldn't yet find the limitations in the free app).
Do keep posting about any new apps you can find.
