[q] [rom] [4.2] chuwi v10 - General Questions and Answers

How much does it cost to develop ROM (android 4.2), especially cyanogenmod 10.1? To be able to carry it in tablet "CHUWI V10" (10.1 "-quadcore-2gb ram-Allwinner A31).

hey there,
so i managed to get 4.2.2 off the official chuwi forum.
1. If you don't have it yet, here is PhoenixSuit to flash it (let it update, it'll work faster)
2. click on the anchor and point to this file on your PC (it's Android 4.2.2, not rooted, i'm working on that)
3. power off your tablet
4. press and hold volume up (+)
5. connect usb cable
6. press on power button multiple times untill PhoenixSuit asks if you want to flash - IT WILL DO A COMPLETE FLASH OF YOUR TABLET, not the memory card, if you have one.
7. Enjoy Android 4.2.2 with longer battery life, no youtube crashes and better gaming performance
I'm discussing with Christian Troy, dev for tablets, to help port 4.3 or even 4.4 kitkat.
hope this helps and don't forget the thanks button

Great!!!
It workshop soooo good!!! Thanks

hello i need the rom for my v10 !! but the links is not good.
someone can upload it again ?
many thanks !!

Hi there!
Well, I'm gonna have to look to see what happened to the files... I don't own the V10 anymore and forgot about this thread.
I'll get back to you with a response either way.

frankly speaking its ALMOST useless to use custom roms on Tablets.... cause most of the GOOD developers who make the roms for tablets like CHARCK, dont own the tablet so now development... so stick with the stock...
AND GUYS FORGET THAT SAMMY WOULD RELEASE JELLY BEAN OFFICIALLY FOR NOTE 10.1 BEFORE NEXT YEAR....! im selling my note 10.1 to get nexus 10 when its available...
Again we see this happening dear Aami if you want to sell the tab you are most welcome to do so its your choice but can please show proof for your statement that the JB update wont be available until next year please dont speculate and turn away others.
I enjoy redemption

It is basicly a themed version of stock with some stuff added in. I enjoy it

JXD S18 Mini Pad Questions

Just received my JXD S18 Mini Pad and was wondering what ROM I can install on it.
It's running Ice Cream Sandwhich, Version 4.0.4
This device is already rooted, so that is not neccesery.
Is it possible to install Cyanogen mod on this device?
Are there custom ICS 4.0.4 roms with less bloat?
If I install a custom ROM e.g. Cyanogen mod, will the tablet still be rooted??
heres mine

Hello, I'm quite new to android and
I was wondering if the skelrom for jxd s601would be compatible with my JXD S18 tablet version 01? Because I have been looking for a custom rom for my JXD S18, and sad to say that can't find any. I find using the S18 with the jxd provided firmware a hassle as the battery drains very fast. I'm looking for 3 or 3.5 hours (minimum) to 4-4.5 or even 5 hours (maximum). And since the S601 is very similar to the S18 in terms of specs, perhaps i can use this rom as a base for me to modify into something for the s18, or even use it directly on my s18. Any ideas? Thanks & Regards,
Is there a way to add a change apps button?
Hello.
Does anybody know a way to add the virtual button for overview / switch between apps and selecting which ones to close, so you release some RAM? I uploaded 3 images to show there's no overview button on the home screen.
I recently bought a S18 tablet from a small store in Bogotá and despite being so limited in functions, RAM and battery life it's not that useless, at least it's good to read some texts and listening to music (I just installed AIMP, which i consider as the best offline audio player for Android).

[REQ] How to make custom compatibility pack for CyanogenMod 10?

Hello!
I'm dealing with some branded tab KIANO BLADE CITY 2.
It has Alwinner A10 soc with 512 mb RAM and Mali-400 video.
So would like to install Unofficial CyanogenMod 10 from this thread, but I came to conclusions that I need my own compatibility pack first.
At this point I have fully working ROM with Android 4.0.3 for this tab
http://www.my-server.pl/kiano/cityII/soft/android4-BLADE-CITY2-ver2.img
As I have no previous experience with Linux or android I request some help with creating custom compatibility pack out of original rom.
Thanks.
To be sure. What does a compatibility pack mean to you?
I'd recomend posting this on the rom thread btw.

Compatibility pack is the one created for each device in that CyanogenMod 10 thread. It contains kernel modifications for each device. For ex. without it you can get not working wifi or touchscreen and so on.
I can't post myself anything in developer section because of newbie restrictions. If you don't mind, you can post it there for me.
Thanks.
I'd recommend helping out people like I did .
I don't own such a tab but if you want me to ask it just send the thing you want posted and the thread as a private message .

Did you ever get an answer on this? I am looking for a compatibility pack for my tablet.
Thank you!
Sorry, but no. I have too few reputation to post my request in the appropriate thread so I stuck...
But you have 8 posts already, so +2 and you good to make a request yourself.
I hope that guys in the original thread will be able to help, especially as we have working ROM, which can be used for making compatibility pack, as I presume.

Hi! I have good news!
I was able to "port" original drivers from my stock rom for CarbonRom 4.2.2 and for CM10!
Both roms have full support for touch, gsensor, camera and wifi (CarbonRom has wifi drop issue but it is common problem for all devices).
CM10 is slick and fast. About ~1 min boot time (faster than stock one), a lot of drivers for usb devices.
I have goodix_touch_811 touch driver and dmard06 gsensor if you are interested.

[Q] JB vs KK in terms of Smoothness?

When I was running JB on my N8010 I noticed that when I wanted to scroll through the images in an Album using the Gallery app I could scroll through nearly 470 images with just one swipe unlike KK which takes about 3 or 4 swipes to get to the end of the 470 images. So frustrating was this lack of smoothness when scrolling through images or even long documents I've reverted back to JB.
I couldn't understand why JB was so much smoother in terms of scrolling through images in the Gallery app compared to KK. Maybe the experts on these forums could shed some light or is it just a quirk of my particular N8010.
Thanks

Thanks. Would it be fair to say then that even though the N8010 will run on KK the N8010 wasn't really designed for KK and consequently runs smoother on either ICS or JB?

No it wouldnt... It is, however, fair to say that the samsung aka TouchWiz overlay installed on top of the KK update is by far ready. If you install KK Aosp (Pure Android) you would see how seemless and fluid KK really is supposed to run. That in turn would make you want to take a flame thrower to the devs at samsung and demand progress.. lol :highfive:

Thank you. I tried this way Here but to no avail as every time I tried to flash the Omni Rom I got a fail. Also for some strange reason TWRP insisted that there were 6 zip files in the folder where I had originally stored the 3 zip files that were required!!
Also the method you suggest above applies to the N8000 not the N8010, does that matter?

You must use recovery that supports SELinux as stated per instructions..

I've now loaded the correct version of TWRP but TWRP doesn't see any of the zip files I've placed on the external SD Card!! :crying:
I don't think I'm meant to do this!!
Also does the ROM for the N8000 given in your link above work on the N8010?
Thanks very much again for your help.

That's not always true in all cases. What causes your system to slow down is:
1. Installing an OS not optimize for your computer. You can't expect a pc designed for Windows 95 to run Windows 7. In the case of the note 10.1, kitkat has lower system requirements than ice cream sandwich, so in theory it should run fine on the note 10.1.
2. Conflicting files may be slowing down your system. Sometimes upgrading will leave behind unnecessary files that slow down your system. You need a decent amount of space for most operating system to run smoothly.
That being said, I believe touchwiz is at fault here. The interface and apps are very bloated. Samsung tried to put in everything they could think of, but at the cost of efficiency. I have recently switched over to cyanogenmod 11 (kitkat 4.4.4) and I have notice that my note has performed far better then before. Where the tablet used to stutter now is running buttery smooth. The official kitkat build of Samsung compared to the ice cream sandwich build showed very little performance changed when I was using it.
Its not like tableta cant get updated due to lack of resourcea, ita more like deva dont have official versions of the roms. I updated my n8013 to 4.4.4 using omni and was ubersmooth, gnabk rom was also fast and reaponsive but the video streaming lagged like hell
604
Other than the official ROMS like ICS, JB and KK are there any other ROMS for the N8010 out there that also incorporate the functionality of the S-Pen. I use the S-Pen a lot so loosing it would be a serious loss. The only one I've heard of is the Gnabo ROM.
Thanks.

There is no need for rudeness here. You said upgrading from Windows 95 to Windows 7 will make your computer slow, but it really depends on your hardware. What you stated is true for most old computers, but it doesn't apply to what the OP of this thread is discussing.

I just noticed that I enter the low activity device group

I got it in my pocket in this very moment. (It's
a core G-386W. More or less a late model with better parts. 0.5gb of more RAM iirc
Really run smoothly in most conditions. Still love it. Only replaced it with a LG V20 (not letting go of that removable battery) for OS reason.
I still have mine works great for me I just wished I could update it so I can get some newer aps so at least I could connect my smart watch with it. the only thing I did was years ago installed rooted it and installed kitkat ( I think it was back in 2014) other then that haven't done anything but bought a new battery

Does Wi-Fi and cellular networks work? I installed CM12.1 on mine, everything works perfectly, except the Wi-Fi and calls/sms
I know I am almost 2 years late to the party but I will leave this for those who are willing to dive into the rabbit hole. I managed to build a "functional" lineage18.1 for the SM-g386W Afyonltecan and I am willing to share it as well as the source so that hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will take the lead or help to fix the bugs so that we can enjoy this piece of history for few more years. Don't get me wrong, it is far from perfect and so far only worked on my device. I also successfully build lineage 16.0 and twrp 3.7.0 but they are too buggy to be useful as is.
