[Q] CROMI-X 4.5 with Data2SD random freeze and reboot - Asus Transformer TF700

Can anyone help me make my rom more stable? CROMI-X with Data2SD is giving me random freeze and reboots. I did wipe data on my SD card and internal memory before I flashed the latest CROMI-X. I chose install with wipe of dalvik cache. I also chose the Data2SD kernel and installed everything from playstore. I didn't even restore any data from Titatnium. Does anybody know how to fix this? I didn't experience this when I was in CROMI 3.XX

What program did you use to format your microSD card? If it was MiniTool, try and (completely) reformat your card using Gparted. That'd solve the issues.
It could be an app, of course, due to a single incompatibility with the new(er) versions of Android -- who knows? But I'd try the reformat procedure first (if in need of the data on the card, either copy them to another partition on the 700 itself, or burn another Linux ''live CD'' and retrieve them to desktop).
Good luck!

I did format it using Gparted in Ubuntu. It seems like I only get problems when I'm using the browser or playstore. Other programs doesn't freeze. I'll try to reformat my SD card again..

[Q] Can't Anyone Help ???

I'll try this forum, over 200 views on my other posts and no suggestions. Is the problem that obscure ? The tablet, while not worthless, is getting there as I am unable to load any of the hacks and fixes to the SD card to install. Is there a work-around the SD card so I could reinstall the g-sensor fix ?
With all the great minds on this forum, surely someone will have some insight into my problem. To start with I am running the latest Vegan release (thanks Team) and have been since 1/1. The only thing I can think of that might have caused this problem was that I foolishly removed my SD card without dismounting it and popped in a blank one to see if it was working. Since then, I am unable to mount an SD card. If just says "Unmount in Progress". When I click on unmount, it will unmount it and give me the "Mount SD card" option, when I try to mount it, it will say "preparing SD card", then go back to "Unmount in Progress". When I try to mount a new card, it says "Card blank or unsupported file system". But all the other card I have used in my Gtab give me the same Unmount in Progress issues. I reinstalled Vegan. Apps that used to work, no longer work, they just open and close (No FC message)
Someone please help !!!

I'm not one of the g tablet great minds but I'll make a suggestion that always works for me.
1) Format your external SD card in a computer with Fat32. Preferably not a quick format.
2) Using Recovery wipe EVERYTHING, repartition/format the internal memory.
3) Reboot into Recovery
4) Connect to a computer, mount usb, copy your files over again.
5) Re-install the rom of your choice.
In my experience (at least on the HD2 with Android) crazy FC's and otherwise unexpected behavior from a freshly installed ROM means there are leftovers that were not removed from the previously installed rom.
IMHO the device should be completely empty of every bit of software before reinstalling.
Edit: On a side note, I have NOT been able to get an external SD card from recovery which is why I do everything through USB-Mount with the computer.
If you can mount via usb, you could put the ClockWorkMod (CWM) update.zip and recovery file and then reboot with Pwr/Vol+. That should install CWM.
Then you will be able to boot into CWM and repartition or whatever you need to do. Personally I would repatition, clean out the caches, wipe data, etc. and then start with a clean slate.
Hope I have not misunderstood what you need. Hope this helps.

Factory Re-set
Don't know if this will help or not, somtimes you need to clear out the cashe.
Have you tried going into settings and clicking factory reset?
You will lose your user data, but this might be enough to fix the problem. I think you have parts of two installs overlapping each other.
Also, reformatting the SD card sounds like the next step to try if factory reset does not fix the problem.
Third you could NVflash back to stock and then start over. Then do factory reset after each install.
If you have to wipe everything I would suggest formatting your internal sdcard in clockwork to 2048 and 0

If you did a factory reset and nothing happened then the reset didn't work. I would install clockwork recovery from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851657
Then boot into clockwork recovery and clear data/cache. You will have to redo the market fix and install your apps. If this doesn't stop the force closes then boot into clockwork recovery and repartition your sdcard to 2048 and 0
I'm having the same problem. I did nvflash and started fresh. Installed CWM making sure to wipe data/cache. I partioned the SD to 2048/0. I installed vegan 5.1 and its update. I think I did everything by the book, yet it still says Unmount in progress. This did not occur when I was running stock.
I tried the sd card from mt Evo as well. It does the same thing. It also does not recorgnize any USB flash installed as well.
I've run out of ideas. Can anyone help?
Thanks very much.

My VEGAn 5.1.1 says same thing but I never have a problem accessing files on it (/mnt/sdcard2). Are you sure you are not confused by the fact that the internal memory is divided into 2 GB "system" and 14 GB SD1?

Be patient, it took forever to mount a thumb drive for the first time and I too had thought something was wrong. Try again after a reboot and a couple of minutes.
Hope this helps
Thanks for trying to help. I pretty much gave up and installed TNT 5.0. I've had the thumb drive in there for 5 minutes but I'll keep it in to see if it shows up. In TNT, the SD card seems to be working/appearing fine.
I really liked Vegan, but I'll keep TNT for at least a few days to see how it does.
Thanks again!

Wiping the memory on a G Tablet

If I want to do a clean wipe of my rooted tablet is it just a matter of clearing the cache and re-installing the ROM?
That wont clean the sd card will it?
Thanks in advance.

It won't.
To completely wipe all user data from your gTablet, boot into CWM (remove any external microSD cards first) and
a) Repartition the (internal) SD card, and
b) Format cache.
There's no need to re-install the ROM. If you do those 2 steps, above, your ROM will go back to looking like a fresh install.
Here is a link to a thread detailing the installing and running of CWM. I haven't used this particular thread yet, but will be in the next few days. I am going to install the newest gtab modified FrankenTAB build from PixelRider

Data2sd problem

I am having an issue with Data2SD and deodexd and odexed cleanrom 3.4.x. any time a new app/service is run the tab freezes and reboots. subsequent opening of the app/service work. generally when i flash a rom I get the "optimizing app x of x" but with this I am not...
the biggest problem is that it is freezing while adding a google account, and it never makes it through the sign in process without freeze/reboot. this results in google play error rpc:S-5:AEC-0 which can only be fixed by removing/readding the account. Which starts the whole process over.
What tool did you use to partition the micro SD? Gparted?
i did it from my laptop with minitool. I will make another with gparted. It seems to be a cache problem. after opening the apps its a short lived fix, because after sitting for a few hours my tablet is completely worthless once again with the freeze-reset.

Minitool corrupts the card. It's a well known issue. Only way to format is from linux usig gparted. Lookup the downloadable iso for gparted.

[Q] Help on SDCARD partition for data2sd

I am new with data2sd.
I read from another discussion that in order to use data2sd on my TF700 tablet I have to create two partitions on my external SDcard (partition1 = FAT32, while the secod partition is ESXT4). I am using Samsung SDXC 64GB class 10 card. For some reason I could not format the EXT4 successfully. I have tried MiniTool partition and GPart USB and Disk boot.
With latest GPart I receive error "Input/Output errro during write on /dev/mmcblk0" with header message "Libpart Bug Found!".
I tried to leave the first partition empty then format the 2nd partition EST4 as well but it made no different.
Finally I ask a frined to format the card from his Apple laptop and he said he did it. However I am still unable to detect the 2nd paritition.
This time the Gpart softare has shown a Warning message as shown in the attachment.
Can anyone help me? Thanks

I have heard that MiniTool has corrupted a few users SD when they use it. If it is still new, you can get the exchange from where you bought it.
Otherwise, you could try this to see if it works out for you.
You can use a card reader and plug it in your window pc. You need to reformat your SD with extfat. If everything works, then you can use gparted to format two partions, fat32/ext4, to use for data2sd.
If it is still not working, you can go to the SD card associate website and download the format4.0 tool. You need to install the software on your pc and use it to format your SD. In the pull down option, you need to select the "overwrite" option in the menu and hope that they can repartition your allocation table in order for your SD to work again. Good luck... :fingers-crossed:
Finally made EXT4 partition successfully but still fail on DATA2SD
I finally able to format my second partition with EXT4 using TWRP software. However my TF700 tablet is unable to mount the EXT4 or read it under storage menu. I read another forum saying the SDXC UHS-1 card cannot be used for my tablet. Is this true?
Can anyone confirm this? Thank you

Note: When flashing using that4 DATA2Sd kernel, the screen hung at Asus logo. Tried using Hunsbuah kernel too but no luck. I am using CROMI-X 4.7.0.
Is it a micro SD you are trying to use? The full sized SD in the dock won't work for data2sd.
You must use gparted to format the card. There is no other way.
Take the microSD out and check if it boots normally. You may have corrupted your card with Mini Tool...

I am currently using an exactly the same SD as your. It is working for me. Something may be wrong your end..
Got the partition working and NOW is the mounting problem...
Finally i got my second partition working. The formatting worked after I recreated the partition table using gPART.
Now my ASUS TF700 could not mount the second partition of my Samsung card. It only read th first primary partition. After flashing ROM with CROMI-X 5.0 and select that_4 kernal (DATA2SD), it loop at initial Asus boot logo and then reboot repeatly and endlessly. Is there any step I am missing here? Thanks for any help here.

am using MicroSDXC UHS-1 card 64GB
Hi,
I am using Samsung 64GB microSDXC UHS-1 card and I inserted it into the tablet directly. The tablet could read first FAT32 partition but not the second one (EXT4). I could see the second partition using Mini Partition Tool as well as GPART though.
I am thinking hard now on how to let my TF700 read the EXT4 second partition on my card. ANy idea? Thank you

1. I bought a SanDisk Extreme with 32 GB
2. I have used gparted to partion my SD Card. First with 4 GB Fat32. Second with Ext4. Both are primary.
3. I flashed the new TRWP 2.6.1.0 on my Tab.
4. Reboot the recovery an flash mount-data2sd.zip
5. flashed the Cromi 5.0.1 odex and use _thats data2sd Kernel
6. I flashed data2sd-jb42-intmedia-that1.zip
My Tab runs with this but i can't use the Ext4 form my SD-Card.

That's what "intmedia" does.
The ext4 partition should contain your apps and app data.

You have to use the mount-data2sd.zip from the data2sd thread to temporarily switch your recovery to use /data on the microSD card.

Hi, the way I checked is when I goto storage option, i could only see the internal and first partition on my external SDcard so I assume the 2nd partition is not recognized? Also using ES Explorer, I clicked "MicroSD" option and it only showed the content in the first SDcard partition.
These are the steps I did:
1- From TWRP 2.6.0, I flash a separate mount-data2sd.zip
2 - still in TWRP, once the above flashing complete, I flash CROMI-X 5.0 deodex and select that_4 data2sd kernel
3 - wipe cache and dalvik cache
4 - reboot system
5 - I got message there is no OS in the internal parition/disk do you want to continue? Since I got no choice, I clicked yes then the screen hang at initial Asus logo screen.
Luckily I have TWRP backup prior so I managed to restore my complete /data, /system and /boot or recovery.
Plz help and advice my misunderstanding or missing steps here. Thanks

Using Link2SD again after flashing ROM

Not a developer and pretty new to rooting still.
I'd been using Link2SD to get more room in my Samsung Galaxy Blaze 4G, that worked wonderfully.
But a few weeks ago I had a phone issue and flashed a new ROM. Working just fine, I reinstalled some of my apps. Yesterday I was at the point where I needed more room again and I restored Link2SD (app+data) from TiBu.
On reboot I realized my mistake - suddenly all my apps were crashing. I uninstalled Link2SD, rebooted, everything fine again. I'm guessing it's because some of the apps I'd reinstalled after flashing were also linked in the 2nd partition of my SD card? I then tried downloading a fresh copy of Link2SD, but that had the same effect.
I had to reflash, the phone is now back where it was earlier this weekend.
My question is, how do I now use Link2SD? Is there a way to wipe it clean and start over from scratch? Is there an alternative I should be using instead, to take advantage of all the room on my external SD card?
Can anyone just tell me if I can wipe Link2SD back to the original conditions? Or anything like that?

Just download and install the PC software MiniTool Partition Wizard.
Connect the SD card to PC via card reader.
Open the software and format the ext4 partition that you created from the memory card for Link2SD
Now remove and put SD in phone and try using Link2SD
I'll have to repartition the SD card every time I flash a ROM if I want to use Link2SD?

Yes, because the symlinks will be broken each time you flash or format
Okay, thanks for the info.
