Soon i am planning to change tablet at the moment i hsve ipad 3 and the thing that i miss most is notes spen...
My question is is there some other tablets that have the same or better horsepower than note 10.1 and mandatory is to have precise stylus something at least comparable to spen.
Or is best choice for that still note 10.1.
Tablet screen shoud be in 10" range not interesred i 8"

Note 10.1 still the only real contender...
I would give the series 7 Slate PC a real good look, it's a windows tablet and it costs a bit more but on the other hand you can run full MS office on it and that's a really good thing! The Microsoft Surface Pro have also a digitizer, then there's some Lenovo as well. No other with android as far as I know though.

For surface pro i read about digitizer that it is not same quality as s pen.
I will use it for taking notes while studying. So i need precision with lots of formulas and graphs...

I don't know how soon you're looking to purchase, but this ASUS announcement looks interesting to me.
If it's an Android Transformer with both a digitizer pen and a keyboard dock, I'm definitely down.

I've read that as well, the battery life is not at all what it is on the note either. The slate however is a Samsung product and as far as I can tell it has the same technology as the note. I use my note for the same purpose as you will by the way, and even though LectureNotes is awesome I think MS OneNote is quite good as well. The main advantage with the Slate is that it is both a tablet and a laptop one can use for Matlab (I know there's a mobile version for android but it's more for show really) and other PC applications. It's larger size is a disadvantage when it comes to using it as a tablet though.

Also one of the things that pulls me toward note 10.1 is multiview. Lets say put pdf book on left side of the screen and notes app on the right and it is very convenient to work. Plus what i have seen on note that palm rejection option. Atm i have note 2 also (as visible from my signature) and it is awesome. But note 2 has just too small screen for the that task. It is ok for scribbling something fast but more extensive notes need larger screen. Note 8 still it is larger but personally i think that 10.1 is best size for that.

I use that feature alot as well, especially when doing math and other tasks where you want to have a PDF with the exercise up when writing. For other tasks the 10.1" is a bit to small for me at least. But I mean come on, you use the notes multitasking capabilites as an argument for it towards a windows based tablet? And since the series 7 has the same pen technology as the note it has the same palm rejection capabilites.
But it sounds like you've already made up your mind and If so, good for you! I love my Note, I would really have checked the series 7 out before buying one today but maybe that's just me.

Since you get a laptop and a tablet in one I maybe would have gone for the slate, but that's because I could use an upgrade on my laptop and my back would appreciate not having to drag the two devices around in school. On the other hand one of the best thing with the note is that it's so easy to carry around and hold in the hands while reading..
Anyway, congratulations on your choice

Hi guys I have a nexus 7 got it on release . It is my first ever tablet I love it but I find myself using my gnex more than it .I feel like it is an over sized gnex rather than a true tablet . I recently sold my dell xps 15 z and I really need something I can use to do word documents check email tweet a bit Skype my girl friend etc ..I was wondering if selling my nexus 7 to get an infinity pad is a good idea?

I was deciding between the Nexus 7 and the Transformer Infinity for my first tablet purchase. The iPad was out because of the closed ecosystem, and I have already paid for android apps on my phone that will scale up well once installed on the tablet. The Nexus 7 was almost a no brainer for me, it has a great price, quad-core processor, amazing screen and great software support from Google except for the lack of
1. MicroSD expandability (gameloft games on average take up at least 2 gigs of internal memory)
2. HDMI-out (with apps like Netflix, Hulu plus, and HBO go not to mention flash support, being able to output that to a TV screen is a huge plus)
For about twice as much as the Nexus 7, the Infinity offers a higher resolution screen that's also brighter powered by a top of the line quad core processor. It also includes a microSD slot, 8 mp camera, microHDMI out and the ability to expand via a mobile docking station that adds additional battery life, full sized USB OTG support and a SD slot. I have to say that all the additional features are worth the extra premium. I don't have to worry about storage space and the tablet functions much like a laptop replacement for me. If you're on the fence between the two, I'd say go for the Infinity.
Thanks dude yeah I have the nexus 7 now ...idk it just seems like an overweight galaxy nexus ....I'm really leaning on getting the tf700

I had the same situation, I was wondering between Nexus 7 and Asus Infinity. Those were actually the only options I was considering.
Lets just say that finally the decision turned into Infinity because here in FInland cannot yet buy Nexus 7. Also because I already have a big screened phone (SGS3) i was thinking that the difference between phone and tablet would then be quite small.
My feelings are quite divided currently. On the other hand I love the screen, it is sharp and nice. I like to read books and magazines from it. But then on the other hand the Android system is very laggy. Not sure what is going on here but this is much worse than for example with Galaxy S 2 and no reason to put this on the same table with Galaxy S 3.
Also for example right now I just for some reason lost connection to wifi and this claims not in range. However I have Galaxy S 3 and ipad 1 just next to it and both are working just fine..
I truly hope this is just some sucky software, but currently can't say I am impressed...
Just watching videos about Nexus 7..should I..

Yeah, I had a nexus 7. It wasn't bad just didn't have enough space. It was surely an upgrade to the galaxy tab 8.9 I had before it. I gave my mom the nexus 7 when I picked up the Infinity, and the Infinity is great. The FFC on the Infinity is nice for Skype and the key-dock isn't bad. Its a little small but not hard to type on. I have extra-large glove sized hands and I never get typos on regular keyboards, but do get a few on the Infinity's. I wouln't want to write a novel on the Infinity but for short papers, emails, etc its not bad at all and beats onscreen keyboards hands down. Lots of luck in your decision making.

I have both...the Nexus 7 is fun to play games on and read on...also, there is a lot of development for it already and it's fun to flash new roms and kernels. It does have serious storage limitations and you just can't use it for anything related to productivity, at least I can't. The TF infinity is just a bigger. more meaty tablet...I'm typing this now on the keyboard dock, got a wireless mouse, and with the super battery life I'm getting, I really don't need a laptop. I'm running the Zeus rom and it's much smoother and snappier than before.

That's because it's impossible to answer a question like that - we are not you - we don't use the device the same as you would. How can someone else decide which device is better for you? That's a personal decision based on your usage and personal preferences!
Personally, I think the Nexus 7 and the Infinity are two completely different beasts. It's very hard to truly compare them. One is small enough to slide it your jacket pocket and one is more of a netbook replacement (assuming you get the keyboard dock). They really are geared toward different audiences.
So, to answer you question - go to a store and try them out and see which you would prefer! That's the only way to really answer your question.

I was in the same exact situation as you! I bought the Nexus 7 and really did like it especially the smoothness and the feel of jelly bean. But I have an Evo 4G lte 4.5 inch screen it just felt like a bigger version of it. So I sold the Nexus 7 and bought the Infinity and I've had it for a couple of days and I have mixed feelings. The screen on the infinity is amazing, but the lagginess and wifi dropping off is kinda getting on my nerves. The Nexus 7 did not have these issues I'm disappointed in the performance and debating exchanging it and trying a new one. I think in retrospect I should have kept the Nexus and the Infinity. Just my two cents.

I have the Nexus 7 and someone is offering me a swap and I only have to add 200 dollars for the 64gb version! The form factor of the N7 is unbeatable, it's extremely portable and easy to play games on. Surfing is a breeze and you don't feel tired when holding it for a very long time. On the other hand the screen has a lot less to be desired upon AND the screen flickering issue of the n7 is INSANE. I was just about ready to give up on the n7 but I just flashed AOKP build 3 and it might have just did the trick! I also brought my router closer and I think it does help.
I've been reading on the transformer and it has the same screen flickering issue so I'm having second thoughts.

I personally have zero screen flickering on either the Transformer Infinity or on the Nexus 7 (which my daughter has now appropriated). I believe that there are a number of units of both tablets with hardware issues but I've been fortunate enough not to experience them.

I am using the 10.1 with BT as a phone, the 5.3 is getting some rest
I am not a very heavy phone caller so that seems to work for me
Except the week end as I need to be light and pop the sim back into the 5.3
I use both, seems redundant but I haven't owned the 10.1 for long enough to make a decision.

I've been using the international note since the European launch last November, and I'm now thinking I'll go back to a "normal" phone when I replace the original Note. Maybe a Galaxy S3 or the next Nexus...
It does seem like overkill to have both, and the Note 10.1 is just spectacular!
Of course I may change my mind when I see the specs of the Note 2...

I concur with HasC... love this note 10.1, only wish I'd bought the 3g version instead of wifi (I ordered a 3g yesterday to replace my wifi version).
I'll carry the miniNote aroumd 24/7 and use it when megaNote use would be inconvenient or too conspicuous... but suspect I'll have and use megaNote with higher frequency than miniNote except for phone use.
In short, I think both have great utility and see keepung and using both.
I've got both as well. I still like to have the 5.3 for little notes for when I don't have access to my 10.1, plus its 100% reliable for me. I've been Bluetooth tethering to my 10.1 all day with no issues, the camera is top notch, no issues with the software, battery life is excellent, especially since its getting less use now. I thought about selling it for a Nexus, but I couldn't live without the great camera. I may go for an S3 if I can find a decent price on eBay, but otherwise I'll be satisfied with this for a while.

Use both in business daily.
I bought the 10.1 because of the 5.3.
Have them synced thru dropbox.
It's a powerful combination.
I have both Notes.
The 10.1 is not in any way a replacement for the 5.3 - It's a tablet, it can't fit in your pocket. The original Note can.
The N7000 is my phone, the N8013 is my tablet (well one of two... I also have a Nexus 7... Each device has its place. The N8013 probably won't get too much use beyond hacking until a combo Bluetooth keyboard/folio comes out for it.)
I've been using both. smaller Note 5.3 when I am walking around and the bigger note when i am stationary or really want to check out a web page or working in forums.

Got it for the stylus capabilities. At first it was used as a web and media device (via Allshare Cast Dongle) now though it has pretty much replaced my laptop. I use it for writing, drawing, designing, basically 90% of what I used my laptop and PC for.
People always say about tablets that they are only good for internet and social networking. Maybe because they have only used iPad and other non stylus tablets. Use a Note and spend some time with the stylus, learning what you can do, allowing time to adapt to a new way of doing things and you will find the beauty of this tablet. Be warned though, it will ruin every other device you own and use that doesn't have a stylus input.
A perfect example. You happen across an article online containing a small snippet of info you really want to keep and share with friends. On laptop/PC you need to save the web address or highlight the relevant sections and cut and paste then send as email either as an attachment or web link. On a tablet? Actually not sure how you would do it without tearing every last hair from your head. On the note, click on the stylus draw round the article and then send to friend. It also saves to clipboard.
Need to annotate something for future reference, not a clue how to do it on PC without specific software, on other tablets not sure it can be done easily, on the note one click and you are writing on the screen.
Need to take some handwritten notes, no problem. Some calculations etc etc.
I'll stop now cause this is starting to sound like a sales pitch on behalf of Samsung and I'm not being paid to sell it. All I would say is delve into what the device can do for you before writing it off. There may be a learning curve as far as the stylus goes (I still find things I didn't know it could do even now) but that is why you bought this device over the competition.
I use mine to Web surf and play games while on the can

I've seen that a couple of years ago but with an Ipad. The guy had a rack for it installed in which he snapped the iphone and where it connected to the cars sound system, an extra GPS antenna and I think also connected to he's phone by BT so that he could use it to make and take phone calls. The ipad 2 is old news.. its time for an upgrade. treat yourself to the note 10.1 ... if u like your note than u gonna love the 10.1,,
Here are a few reasons why..
-true multitasking,
-bigger screen,
-more power,
-more ram,
-bigger battery
-the best android tablet on the market right now
the Note 10.1 has many other feature too but u will have to get it to found out..
depends what you want to do
disclaimer: my house has the ipad 2, 3 and 4 plus two SGS Note 10.1s. 3 of the 4 adults in the house are apple fanboys and the other is android (me). The older kids (11 and 9) just asked for the notes for christmas and now prefer them over the ipad whereas the younger kids (6 and 4) have only used the ipads. The things the older kids like about the Note is drawing, the multiple windows and so many more free apps. :end of disclaimer
IMO- they are all great devices depending on what you want to accomplish. For me, the Notes are much more productive and versital like a laptop (allowing you to have multiple windows open at the same time, Polaris office, etc.). I hate how itunes controls a lot for apple but I haven't used it for 4 or 5 years and it was a lot more buggy back then on my windows laptop (prob better on a mac). Recently I have used the ipad on trips and sometimes at home. Other than not being able to view flash, the ipads worked great. If you are into drawing/graphics and writing by hand then the Notes blows the ipad out of the water. If you are only going to watch movies then the display on the recent Ipads is better (although I like the speakers on the Note better and the lower resolution doesn't bother me that much). The ipads are a hair smoother and maybe more consistent but I never noticed it that much. Anyway, you need to decide what you want to do with it and the answer should be clear.
It's great to have an iPad and a Note 10.1
I use both as they both have useful feature that the other doesn't. I do muchly prefer the Note but the iPad is useful for a select few things the Note can't do.

I would hold on to the Ipad 2 if you can afford note 10.1 buy one from best buy. In the 29th day from purchase date decide if you want to keep the note 10.1 or return it because BB has a 30 days return (no restocking fee) "here in Los Angeles".
My experience with the Note 10.1 is really great. I use it mainly to play games and snapshots/jot down notes on the image/use it for shopping. Also I haven't used my Moto Atrix 2 other than to make a phone call, mainly because the tablet is more convenient to use rather than my android phone. I'm actually thinking of downgrading phone or getting those good camera phone like nokia 808 to replace my atrix 2 and remove my data plan.
Hope you make a good decision ^_^v

Just curious, but what can an ipad do that the Note 10.1 can't do?

run IOS :victory:
And people think this a plus? Being able to run a locked down system that has no real originality or ability to customise to how I want or need?
Note wins hands down....

You know, I did just flame you for being a complete dumbass, but decided you're not worth losing my account over.

Just scored one on eBay with a case and a 32gb sd card for a pretty good deal. Well test it out when I get it (hopefully by Saturday or Monday) and decide..

Uhhm the one thing I know of is run "Speak for Yourself".
As for the original poster.
When Steve Jobs said "Who wants a stylus?", I said: "ME".
I wouldn't think of using a tablet until the Note came out, ( well OK the Thinkpad Tablet, but that was a bust )
because 80% of what I want to do on a tablet require a good pen.
I would say that if there are a lot of things you want to do that require a pen, think about getting the Note.
It is after all the premier feature and if you don't need it then even switching from Apple to Android you could find a better tablet.
Then I would consider the applications you use on the IPad, are there good enough equivalents If not can you live without them. If you can then seriously think about getting a note.
I made the switch and found the note to be much better for reading PDFs, drawing notes, etc. However, the ipad is far far better for Web surfing, since it seems to render Web pages better and faster.

Multi Window feature is awesome. JB has also made using my Note more enjoyable as well.
I officially sold the iPad and am now very happy with the Note. I will say that web browsing is smoother on the iPad, but overall experience is better on the Note. This thing really is cool, especially after flashing a stock based custom rom.
