Trying to install DextersJB18.zip on HTC Flyer tablet previously running HC, I followed the following steps:
- Used HTC Unlock and verified UNLOCKED and S-OFF in bootloader
- fastboot flash boot boot.img (used plain "boot.img" and not htckeys img)
- Installed CWM recovery img (cwm-4.0.1.4-flyer.img)
- Factory Reset from bootloader
In cwm recovery mode:
- Wipe/Factory Reset
- adb push DextersJB18.zip and gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip to sdcard
- Installed DextersJB18.zip from sdcard
- Installed gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip from sdcard
After all successful installs, I reboot the device and it stays stuck on the white background "htc" screen.
I am able to restart into bootloader mode, select cwm recovery mode and so forth, but normal boot sticks on white htc screen.
Did I miss a step somewhere? Is there some way for me to check that everything is properly installed?
I looked at some of the "HTC white screen" threads but I didn't see anything that obviously applied.
Thanks for any help!
[SOLVED]
Was able to solve this by following instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758
I reinstalled the lite generic HC (link here:
http://hyuh.net/files/flyer/HC-3g-light.zip )
It seems that somehow HC was previously removed somehow during this whole process. Boots properly now.

htc hero - SPRINT model
I've succesfully "one-click" rooted my phone. (i followed unlockr)
I succesfully dropped the fresh 1.1 "update.zip" file onto my SD card.
I then booted to "Fastboot mode" using the "down-volume + power" method.
I proceed to click "home" for recovery mode.
My phone hits a hiccup and gets stuck at a black screen with the text "htc" logo in the middle of the screen. It does not proceed to screen to allow me to run "update.zip" to flash the new fresh1.1
I don't have a hero, but could that just be the stock recovery screen? You might need to flash a custom recovery for your device.
Well, watching this video (Cant post)youtube.com/watch?v=hdmkTFAG3PM
at time = 4:08 is the exact part where my screen is locked at.
Its not bricked or anything. I can still boot and it runs the original OS (android 1.5)
I just followed your steps and mine sat on the black screen for a few seconds, but then works fine. You did answer a question I had about how to get to RA though, so thanks for that. Did you boot once before trying to go to recovery mode. I know the fresh site says it can take up to 5 min for the first boot.
RA - 1.5.2
Fresh - 2.0d
I waited for approx 4-5 min. Still, it hung at that htc logo screen.
I exactly followed the steps. After I had flashed the recovery image, I immediately proceeded to power down the phone. Then, I pressed downvolume+home, and entered into HBOOT mode. I pressed home for recovery. Still, no luck. I followed these steps exactly, downloaded the exact files, placed exactly on sdcard. Still hangs out that logo screen and does not proceed to the recovery screen.
Before I run the recovery, should I press HOME+POWER and completely wipe/reset my phone? Then I have to take out battery, Press DOWNVOLUME+POWER and enter into recovery mode? (In the instructional video, this is NOT DONE.)

I did HOME+POWER after flashing the recovery Image (which should take you to the RA recovery. After you whipe and flash your ROM if you do this it will show the HTC screen that just whipes data and you have to follow the method you listed in your post.
These are the exact steps I followed:
1) Use flashRec to back up and flash the recovery image (RA-1.5.2)
2) Reboot HOME+POWER
3) Whipe > Whipe data/factory reset
4) Flash ZIP from sdcard > Select the ROM you want to flash (Fresh 2.0d)
5) Reboot system now (this can take up to 5 min)
6) To flash patch like vanilla lock screen patch boot with VOL DWN+POWER then press HOME to get back to RA.
A few of the above steps within RA require you to press HOME to confirm the action.
Hello guys,
i have a problem. I think i did somethink realy stupied and "broke" my sensation
it all started when i was stupid enough to flash
Firmware from 3.12.401.2/102 RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
when i rebootet the problem startet. when i boot the Sensation gets stuck at the green HTC logo at boot.
i can access the andoird menu via Volume down + Power
i managed to install the bootloader 1.17.2008 form here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20681060&postcount=22
i have super-CID
i have the fasboot commands
i used to have the CWD recovery mode. now when i hit RECOVERY in the android menu i can't get into CWDs menu.
i get a screen with a phone and a red triangle and the phone doesn't do anthink.
i use the Hypersensation as ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302969
does anyone have a clue how i ca fix it so that i can boot again.
i have a NAND Backup on my SD card and on my computer.
EDIT: I managed to get CWM working again by flashing the CWM files again via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242942
than i coulld restore my old NAND Backup
You rewrote the recovery partition too, when flashing the RUU.
If you are already on 1.17, then download a CWM and
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
and hopefully after the next reboot you will be able to get in to recovery from bootloader
EDIT: oh, I see you already managed to get a CWM on , glad it worked out
I've read almost all topics here and there is no one with my situation or I'm blind
The situation:
1) I successfully s-off'ed my Sensation
2) I successfully installed clockwork's touch recovery package
3) I successfully installed 3.12 ROM
3) I successfully booted into my old (stock) Gingerbread
4) I checked for updates via settings panel
5) It started updating.../installed them
And now:
1) Everything is gone
2) I don't have clockwork's recovery
3) I'm s-on again since it writes ***LOCKED***
4) It gives me HTC's infamous white screen of death
5) And white screen of death happens on all boot menu's options such as factory reset and recovery
And I've tried these with no luck:
1) Re-installing firmware v3.12
2) Deleting PG*** update package from sd-card's root
3) Trying to re-installing clockwork's recovery with fastboot (it gives me "target rejects" error)
And just 2 questions:
1) Is it bricked? if no is there any healing methods?
2) WTF did I just do that turned my phone into a useless carrot?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
@2) You let HTC update your phone, and this caused you to lose all your lovely s-off work.
When you go into hboot now, does it actually say "s-on"?
I do not know of any updates that would change s-off to s-on.
Try copy/paste this post to THIS THREAD
There are some very clever people there who can get to the bottom of this...

I don't know how to fix it other than to try the ADB methods of pushing a completely stock set up.
But letting HTC update the device after S-Off was deffiantely what you did wrong, for future refference. Once you start meddlign with it, don't let the carrier or the manufacturuer meddle with it anymore.
None of any current updates can turn your phone back to son. So i bet my fiver that your problem is completely recoverable.
All you need to do is to flash newer firmware, custom recovery, and chosenn rom. All links with all the info can be found in malybru signature 2 posts above. Before flashing, drop recovery.img into it without opening PG zip, so you don't have to flash recovery and fw separately.
When booting into recovery mode, the system hangs.
(It can boot normal without a problem)
The device had JB without root, so did the following:
1. Installed the ASUS bootloader unlock utility
2. Installed TWRP 2.3.1.0
3. Installed CleanROM 2.4
Now, when booting into recovery mode:
Via the shut-down menu, the system reboots into the white ASUS logo screen and hangs
Via power+volume Up, and selecting the [RCK] icon, the system hangs (the top left of the screen says "Booting Recovery kernel image")
I'm guessing the system is looking for a ROM file and simply can't find it.
Do you guys ROM experts know what I did wrong and what the fix might be?
After reinstalling TWRP - Recovery mode is working again!
I'll leave this post up in case it happens to anyone else.
Ok, let me explain the situation, i'll try to cover up everything i've done, So, please read my whole post first.
The situation of the device is it able to go through bootloader and recovery, it load the animation and logo, but after it the screen is blank (i can see the "android is upgrading", strange it just only 2 apps then nothing)
no sign of life in the blank state, i've tried to press the power up quite times, no sound. Blank state = slightly bright black.
First, i tried to "factory" within the bootloader. it failed, result is blank screen.
Second, i tried the wipe data/factory reset in the recovery, it throws errors.
Third, i tried to flash TWRP. The procedure is finished successfully (complete), but when i tried to boot to the recovery it enter the stock recovery.
Fourth, i tried [5.0.2][Restore to Stock][XT1033] Asia Retail [Dual Sim][4.4.2/4.4.2][LockBootloader] method, i tried the manual one to make sure everything is done supposedly. The only thing that failed is when i tried the last step, mfastboot.exe oem lock. Still then I reboot the phone, blank screen.
Fifth, i tried [HOW TO] Unbrick Moto G 2013! [Falcon, Peregrine] [Lollipop guide], but i'm stuck at step 7 where my phone only detected as "Android Android USB Device"
Another info that might needed is my bootloader is unlocked.
i've also tried the latest KK rom and L rom, and tried flashing under win7 and win10. Both result in blank screen.
Any idea before i jump intio a dead emmc conclusion?
Not sure it'll help, but maybe try updating to the latest adb/fastboot. Mfastboot isn't really necessary anymore, latest fastboot should be ok for heavy loads
just boot into recovery using following cmd
fastboot boot (ur recovery name)
without brackets it will boot ur device in recovery then wipe and install the custom ROMs.
