HDMI Output to television - LG Optimus 3D

I can't seem to get a working output from my optimus 3d, ( with the hdmi adapter plugged in to my tv)
specs :
Android 4.0.4
Baseband Version : OMAP4430/XMM6260
Kernel Version : 3.0.2.1
Build Number : ICS
Software Version : P920-30a-Eur-xx

Yes! I have the same problem too. Since the official Android 4 update my HDMI out is not working. Any solutions?

Some people have written to try another tv or monitor, or try running a video or something before connecting cable. Mine works on a pc monitor. Not sure why there seems to be an issue with tvs...

Mine works good with big screen tv

I have tried both my full hd television 16:9 and my pc monitor, but there doesn't seem to be a signal

My firmware is v30C (Canadian). I'm in the US. If you can get to Best Buy or some retailer maybe try on some other brand tvs. I have not actually tried mine on a tv, only my monitor. V30C is the first firmware that I have even tried using hdmi. For the pc monitor you might need the monitor drivers installed on your pc if you don't already. On mine I have to press a button on the monitor to change input to hdmi. It's probably the same way on a tv (I assume you did that) So you are on stock ics, not a custom rom?

Custom ROM and ICS worked for me (even though I had to enjoy odd rotation in CM10 :/ but still I don't have problem with my ancient 7 years old Toshiba LCD HDTV which is currently being used as a computer monitor via HDMI).

I wonder what the H-E-double-hockey-sticks is the issue with stock?

Dunno, never bothered with sound though - I turned all volumes on my phone down (just so I don't hear the annoying modem tones), and set to vibration but I bet audio may work on CM10, though.
But, here's my takes against the TV; variance of audio chipsets and firmwares. If the firmware isn't even done right (it's common to find unfinished BIOS in all HDTV's built-in computers due to, well, being cheap), there are lot of things missing. So, HDMI specification apparently isn't being strictly followed even though I don't think O3D have problems of following the specification, unless the firmware's whacked. Who knows.

[Q] RGB / TV Out for HTC Desire HD?

Does anyone know a way to connect the HTC Desire HD to a beamer or TV (or.. What i'm ultimately looking for, the Video-input of the Toyota Prius built in LCD).
Thanks!
DHD doesn't have a TV out option, maybe the hardware is able to do it, but don't get your hopes up.
only option i see to get content to a screen is via the DLNA option, which requires an DLNA adapter for your PRIUS.
this way you still cant get a screen view there, just photo's or video's or sound.
if you want android in your car, perhaps a cheap china tablet could work for you that has TV out?
> cheap china tablet could work for you that has TV out?
Do you have any Suggestions on that?
I was a bit let-down by the fact that my Prius could infact import the contacts from my phone, but not the contact pictures to browse through.. Obviously, to get the whole interconnected experience, you'd also want the touch screen on the car relay it's input to the phone... still a bit to much to ask for, I think...
Thanks for the tip!
Anyone actually tried to buy this http://cgi.ebay.com/1-4-Micro-HDMI-AV-Video-Cable-Type-D-HTC-HDTV-/140567818112?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D1160370007762118256#ht_2020wt_1141
(just an example) to se if it actually works? I mean; isn´t DHD and EVO 4G close to similar in hardware?
Its not possible with the DHD, sadly. All you can do is stream audio/video with DLNA. But no screen mirroring for games or anything. I dont really care because i would never use it anyway. At home i have better devices that i can hook up to my tv And my girlfriend has an old TV without hdmi so... If i wanna take a movie to her place i put it on my DHD copy it to her laptop hook the lappy to the tv and off we go.
You´re right. Just thought it would be funny if it actually worked.

Please post some proof of you getting MHL working on a DHD. I have that MHL usb cable which works fine on my friends Sensation, but I doesn't work on my DHD using any rom. I've tried ICS, CM7, stock and custom roms based on stock. None of them will detect the mhl cable.

When they actually become available, the Raspberry Pi could be good for getting DLNA on TVs. A lot cheaper than anything specifically for it (but you'd also need a wifi dongle)
No TV Out of any kind for Desire HD
Unfortunately there is no option for TV OUT for Desire HD, no RGB, no HDMI, no MHL, the only option is DLNA.

[Q] TV out

Has anyone been able to get the 3.5 mm to RCA adapter to work with the infuse because I have 2 and not all of my TVs are HDMI capable and the TV out settings menu is gone so is it possible
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
I'm pretty sure it is gone, due to MHL support (HDMI over USB) but if anybody could make it happen, I would love to see it. I don't own a single TV with HDMI, but have 1 component hdtv & composite/s-video sdtv. I would love to be able to use my infuse with them. I used the HDMI for the first time over at my girlfriends grandparents, and it was amazing. Would this be something possible to port over from the captivate once GB arrives, or would it require a too extreme of a sorcery to port over?

We may not have the hardware for it at all. If I ever get the time I'll look to see if there's hint of it in the kernel sources, but just to warn you, this particular item is very low priority for me. I haven't owned an analog-only TV in years.
it would also need a program to tell it it is connected to a tv. the phone whouldnt be able to tell if a tv or a microphone was connected.

Eee Pad Transformer HDMI & TV
I have the same problem - My Panasonic TV (TC42PC24) works fine with other HDMI devices but not the transformer (running android 3.2.2). The Transformer also works ok with my other TV's.
I called Asus and they are not aware of this problem - but recorded it and said they would look into it. If you are having the same problem - suggest you call them to report it as well (don't use their email - I tried - and the robo-response is useless).
From the U.S. you can reach Asus at 888-768-3688 - let them know if you have the problem - the more people that report it the better!
I have a panasonic plasma TV 42" (not sure about the model, I'll see that later) and the HDMI cable for the tablet, tomorrow I can test, right now I'm too lazy to get out of my bed.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Why would you think its a problem with the tablet if it works with other tv's? It sounds like a panasonic problem.
Got the same problem using it with my mates Panasonic TH-P50ST30A. A quick scan of the threads in the Transformer developers forum seems to suggest that there may be a fix imbedded in a clemsys kernel....
yep, it's not working
My TV it's a plasma Panasonic P42S10B 42".
If I plug on my desktop monitor (LG W2353V) it works.
Sounds like a Panasonic problem, I have another TV here (an old LG something 23") that my Xbox 360 and PS3 don't work over HDMI, not that I care since I hook them on the Panasonic, but it's kinda annoying know that I have some displays that have HDMI input and doesn't work properly.
My Panny Plasma works just fine with both my Transformer & Evo 4G.
My plasma is a bit older though... TH-42PX75U
I had a problem with that after I bought the cable and didn't work but luckily I found a adapter made by monster cables that goes from the table small HDMI to a regular HDMI cable and it works on all a bunch of TV's without and problems

So it seems that different cables do make a difference... Asus mentioned to me when i asked them that they were also releasing a hdmi cable...this was months ago and still cant see anything on their website.
My gf has a Panasonic flatscreen hdtv and Netflix works fine, I can do everything EXCEPT watch Google movies over hdmi... Its just black with sound. I tried Clemsyns kernel but if didn't help.
any update on this?
I have the same issue... 52" plasma, Panasonic, & Asus Transformer.
Bought the hdmi cable from micro center...
Can anyone confirm if a patch has been released or if trying a specific hdmi cable works?
Real annoying. Only tried on Samsung 32" LCD and worked. Everything else works fine with my Panasonic via hdmi.
Thanks.
I have a 50 inch pan plasma and i have no issues. I did buy a higher end HDMI cord. I can watch movies or internet videos.
The one problem I did have was when I used a HDMI spliter, the tablet wouldn't work. Had to plug directly into TV

Your question got me curious.
I tried to connect the Infinity using the 40 pin adapter to an Onkyo receiver thru it's USB media port.
My Onkyo doesn't like the Infinity. The receiver sees a PC or just about
any other media player with a USB port, not the TF700T however.
Be groovy if it functioned properly.
JB was supposed to have USB Audio Out feature built in. Lets hope Asus does not mess with it.

I have connected the FiioE17 on the Transformer tf700. No luck so far. Maybe they have the hardware capabilities and all they need is the OS update. Let's wait for JB.
So far I understood that GalaxyS3 is the only android capable of doing this. Kind of lame
So far my observation is that anything that connects to the 40 pin connector needs a custom driver to run properly. The default USB we have works but barely just. Hopefully with JB we get expanded compatability. Hopefully.
Im not holding my breath.
Three things needed:
1. Jelly bean with USB audio output
2. Android drivers of the DAC you oun (in my case Arcam rDAC)
3. High end android audio player with optional output modes.
Universal USB DAC
You are theoretically right .
At this moment Samsung Galaxy S3 is capable of offering USB DAC Integration (Here is a link)
There is also a petition for Google to develop and integrate an Universal USB DAC in the Android kernel . Take a look of it here
I believe that this can become a killer functionality in the future. It is a pity that people are using a $600 device to listen to the music using a $4 headphone.
Anyone have any luck so far? I am also trying to use my e17 with my tab. I know a few other devices have roms with usb audio cooked in so hoping it might work for us too.
This looks promising:

Miracast with Samsung BD-F5900 / BD-FM59C bluray players

Hi
I just purchased the Samsung BD-FM59C bluray player from Costco for $120. The player supports AllShare Cast and Miracast.
I tired it out a display version at Costco (they hooked up the display to a tv and let me play with it). I went to the screen mirroring option and it said to connect my "Allshare Cast or Miracast device" and I was able to successfully mirror with my Nexus 4 (CM 10.1 Linaro nightly). Satisfied, I bought it.
I went home and updated the firmware (v1003 to v1007). Now it no longer mentions Miracast on the Screen Mirroring option and my Nexus 4 never connects.
Anyone have experience with mirroring on this model? Any other ROMs work better with Miracast? Also if you are interested in this player for mirroring, maybe hold off on updating the firmware.
Update: Stock rooted T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S III does not work either with Allshare Cast. It connects then quickly disconnects without mirroring. So it seems to be a bad update. Or I possibly have a lemon.
Does anyone have this model or the new Panasonic models (BDT230 AND BDT330) with Miracast? I'm looking for a decent bluray player with Miracast, DLNA, and Amazon Instant Video. So far, these players seem to be the only ones that do this at least at a reasonable price

We also just got the Samsung BD-F5900 bluray player. Although I did try to do mirroring with my Galaxy s3 before it self-updated (also from v1003 to v1007). Before the update it mentioned Miracast and after it did not. However, I haven't gotten it to work before or after the firmware update. I am speaking with Samsung now to get it resolved and they told me they would call me back in a day or two.
Can you go back to Costco and see what version they are running in the store? If it is working with the older version, you could reset your device back to the stock device and disable software updates form inside settings. Or, perhaps Costco would work with you on setting up your system mirroring with your phone, in their store?

I've been looking into it more. And contacting Samsung Support, with no resolution so far.
I'm assuming Costco was running v1003, since it was the version mines came out of the box. They just had the blu-ray sitting with the price tag and it wasn't connected to anything. I asked them to plug it into a TV and they did and they grabbed the remote for it. The blu-ray player at the store wasn't ever connected to the internet and I was able to Miracast with my Nexus 4. I would downgrade back to v1003, if I could, but I don't think the player would allow me to even if I could somehow find the firmware file on the internet.
The player at home, I updated immediately to v1007. And it no longer worked with my Nexus 4 (and removed reference to Miracast).
For Allshare Cast device (GS3), it looks like people are having issues with the Allshare Cast Hub dongle (that costs $100) and rooted devices, such as in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2089479. Since you could never use the mirroring, I wonder if it's because of rooted / flash counter status?
After more attempts, I was able to use Screen Mirroring with my Nexus 4 on the v1007 firmware. It took many connecting disconnecting some restarting but it finally connected and paired and I was able to start mirroring. Again this is on the CM 10.1 Linaro nightly, so it could be something related to the ROM making it difficult to start mirroring.
Ironically, still no luck mirroring with Allshare Cast on stock rooted Galaxy S III...possibly related to root status.

It looks like it. It took many efforts to get it I tried again after, and it did not connect again smoothly, so it seems tempermental, at least for me. But it all in all, it does work with Miracast on Nexus 4...eventually. There is about 1-2 second delay in the mirroring, so fast-paced gaming is not ideal.

I just got the BDT-330 specifically for the Miracast feature. It does work, however it's not really ready for prime-time. DLNA works pretty well, though but not with the default Windows dlna server in Windows 7. I downloaded Serviio and it works really well.

Today t-mobile pushed an update for the Samsung S3, we now have Android 4.1.2 and allshare cast works as expected. My phone hasn't been rooted, so I've never messed with the flash counter status.
My blu-ray player also has the v1007 firmware. It connected on the first try this afternoon.
I have the same BD-FM59C player with 1008 firmware (before that it had 1007) and it NEVER worked with my stock Nexus 4. Not only that but the player itself (forget about miracast) sucks sucks sucks. I'm taking it back to costco. Sony is by far the best in similar low cost players

It looks like stock may not work on Nexus 4. Not sure if it's related to software or even TV, but I only got it to work CM 10.1 with the HDCP off option enabled. I'm running Paranoid Android on the Nexus 4 and it's doing what my GS3 did where it would connect then disconnect.
I tried fully stock GS3 and it did not work either but Kitzy said it works w latest GS3 update from T-Mobile.
Maybe the common problem with All share Cast and Miracast failing is HDCP related?
Also I did like Sony's player (I had the S590) for usability since it allowed more apps to use keyboard/mouse and had better navigation, but it also had a lot of problems with DLNA. This Samsung has its problems with being too Samsung centric (the remote only works with Samsung TV's and isn't universal!) and horrible navigation but it also has a lot more features. Such as good YouTube app (with YouTube Tv support from mobile), better web browser, miracast (which may or may not work) and better DLNA support. It's even better for DLNA by using bubbleUPNP and screen mirroring also works with Intel WiDi. So I think it's the better bang for the buck right now.
